Had an exceptional overnight with one of my best friends celebrating her birthday this weekend! Service was exceptional and every detail perfect. The property made an awesome impression on my friends who had never stayed there before. As a Platinum Elite guest we had access to M Club which was really nice, complimentary beverages, meals and snacks throughout our visit. Clean, neat, and awesome service up at Hive & Honey. 2 issues that needed attention that I would recommend management look into, though i won't deduct stars since our stay overall was great! I had preordered a bottle of champagne and birthday note to be in room upon arrival and it was not-- my friend and I left to have lunch and I called the front desk to see that it be delivered by the time got back a few hours later-- Taylor assured me it would be, but it was not in the room as promised. I finally had to call AGAIN while in the room getting ready to head out to dinner and it was finally brought up. It was delicious and my friend was so happy, but it was far from a birthday surprise upon arrival as planned. 2nd issue: upon checkout I recieved my car from Valet but it was teeming with ANTS. They were everywhere and it was disgusting. Many marching the outside, then when I opened my car doors, more inside. Opened the hood, more there. Opened my convertible and more inside the top. Really weird and gross. The Valet manager apologized profusely and credited the cost of parking back to my card. He also helped wipe them off and did his best to get them out of my car, though i am now home and there are still ants crawling. I keep wiping them as i see them. I had no food in my car and it was parked VIP up front not under any trees so no one could understand what happened. Who knew staycations could be so uber fun? Stayed here over the summer for my daughter's birthday and we could not have asked for a better stay! Yes, it's in the more industrial area, but it is located less than 1/2 mile away from the Spectrum which was totally fine for us. We were there just to hang out with family and enjoy the pool! We decided to upgrade to a room with M Lounge access because well.. who doesn't love all-day access to snacks & beverages? I know these lounges aren't for everyone, but with kiddos in tow I'm all for having breakfast and snacks right at our fingertips! Did I also mention they have a Starbucks drink machine inside too? Hehe I may have had a bit too much fun making my own cappuccinos & lattes throughout the day! Breakfast options were great and we were totally full each morning. Kudos to the staff for constantly filling up all the warming trays. The waffles were deeeelish - had a liege waffle kinda taste to them! Yum! Loved our room - super modern! We loved having the smart TV function and all the USB charging spots. Service overall was fine. The only downside I'd say is the valet parking. I mean...we are in the industrial area, does the hotel really need valet? Yeah we get unlimited ins/outs from the hotel, but it does become a pain having to wait so long for our car. Self parking would be such a huge plus for this hotel. Oh and a tip - Marriott has their mobile app and through there you can request to have your car brought to the front. Awesome riiiiiight? NO! We waited over 20 minutes for our car only to be told by the valet staff that it's better to just do the valet ticket in person as sometimes the mobile app does not notify them right away about your car request. So yeah, that was a bust. If you do decide to go the mobile app valet route, we were told to call downstairs to make sure the valet staff got the app notification. Learn from us to save you a headache! The big win for us at this Marriott was our experience at the pool. It is total kid-friendly! I'm not sure if it's year round (when it's warm out), but during our summer stay they always had floaties out to use. Ha, the kids and all us adults loved using the huge fruit inflatables they had. Plus they offered complimentary snacks throughout the day. For us it was popcorn & ice pops. And we enjoyed the cabanas as well as the sun was killer during our time there! Just note that food service is not available at the pool area. You can order in the restaurant and do takeout to bring to the pool or just bring your own food to the cabanas. Yay for food delivery services=P. Oh and there is a rooftop bar! Pretty nice and if you aren't staying at the hotel they do validate for a few hours with drink purchase. All in all a good time was had by everyone. The kiddos had a blast so I'm sure this won't be our last staycation here! read more

My wife and I are Marriott Platinum Elite members and visit Orange County occasionally for work and also to visit family, so we have a lot of choices in the Marriott (along with other brands) of hotels. We had a Saturday OC stayover to plan, and have in the past been satisfied with mid-range accommodations, whether it be paying or using earned Marriott points and have had mostly positive experiences with Avenue of the Arts in Costa Mesa, Viv in Anaheim near Disney, Renaissance in Aliso Viejo and even Courtyard in Foothill Ranch. We don't often stay at the Spectrum Marriott, mostly because the cash/points prices are somewhat more expensive than the rest, and we've also had spotty stays there in the past. We thought we might give the Spectrum another shot even at a higher points cost, since they have a level 2 EV charger, a bar in a nice lobby and a nice pool since the weather was summer-warm. We found immediately that we might have made a mistake in just pulling up to the valet. The attendant was in (oddly informal) uniform, and was basically silent when he approached us, it seemed like he didn't even work there. I don't think he actually spoke a word to us, and I assumed that I should hand him the car key. He finally asked for our last name and questioned if we were checking in. ~Strike 1~ Approaching the front desk, the attending woman was barely speaking, actually a very low mumble and we had to ask her to repeat herself several times. We were thanked for visiting the hotel again, but she made no acknowledgment that we were Platinum, but I assume that she knew since she mumbled something about M Club downstairs for evening snacks and morning breakfast (which we had to phone downstairs to get the details from someone else since we weren't sure what she said). ~Strike 2~ Upon entering the room, at first it seemed okay until we saw the sofa cushion had disgusting and obvious stains all over it. ~Strike 3~ We also noticed that there were crumbs on the end table next to the sofa, behind the sofa, and under the exposed part of the bedframe. ~Strike 4~ We wanted to use the three or four towels we expected to be waiting in the bathroom to cover the stained sofa cushion, and were annoyed that there were only two towels... I cannot remember once in any Marriott hotel after more than 100 overnights at their properties in which we didn't have our profile-requested extra towels in the bathroom. ~Strike 5~ We immediately called concierge for the extra towels, the wait was to be about 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, we called and they said oh sorry, please give us 15 minutes. Another 30 minutes later, we called again and explained the situation and finally got the towels in the next few minutes. ~Strike 6~ A quick check of the bedding to confirm that the sheets were clean/no hair (we check every stay), it appeared that the bedding was good and we were almost shocked! However, we noticed that the fitted sheet was put on inside out, so now we were skeptical that the sheets were actually fresh. ~Strike 7~ We usually bring an ice chest to bring home leftovers, which was pretty imperative this time since the mini-fridge didn't work. ~Strike 8~ And to top it all off, we realized early the next (checkout) morning that they had only provided the single original roll of toilet paper so we ran out, had to use tissues and then eventually ran out of that too. ~Big Strike 9~ Upon checkout, we relayed each and every one of these points and the front desk person that helped us made no notes, seemed only slightly concerned about our experience, and gave us the standard "I'll speak to the appropriate departments to resolve these issues". My wife had to basically beg for some sort of rectification, and the front desk person seemed put out, but said that she could refund 5,000 points... my wife again said that that seemed insufficient, the woman said she'd see what she could do. Lo and behold, we just received 10,000 points refunded, but when a stay costs 43,000 points and there was virtually zero positives about the stay, I'd say that comes up really short. And while we appreciate getting the points refund, we don't view it as "hush money", just an opportunity for the hotel to listen and then get as close as possible to a full refund to rectify a truly failed stay. In summary, there were 9 strikes. That's a whole half inning in baseball. Enough to sway the whole game. And now we're swayed to absolutely avoid this hotel in the future, and also question the accommodations at the specific Marriott brand of Marriott properties, since it looks like corporate isn't doing enough to make their flagship brand something that's reliable for lifetime Platinum guests. read more

We ask them how much & they tell us $40 A NIGHT?? that right there is just absolutely ridiculous. So we go check in & As we're getting our key the girl at the desk says is the dog staying? (I'm holding my dog on the other side of the lobby). My boyfriend says how much for her to stay? She says $125 A NIGHT!! My baby is 10lbs a Chihuahua mix! I have never ever heard of such a robbery. My boyfriend & I have stayed at several hotels since we travel all the time & she is always with us & we have never had to pay anything close to that. We popped up to the bar and got a call from home before we even ordered anything. we decided to pack it in and were back at the valet in maybe 15 minutes, probably less. One would think that there would be no charge, but one would be very, very, very wrong. It is a good thing I got Hive & Honey to validate (just in case), because otherwise I would have been out $20. In another life, or really 30 years ago I was a travel agent so I am familiar with the hospitality industry because of this I tend to hold a high standard to properties of this level, they mostly met my expectations in fact I really only have one complaint that was that I booked a king bed and got a double which I know you can reserve what you want but they can't guarantee it based on availability but normally when you check in they will let you know that they had to change the accommodations they did not I only found out when I went back to the desk to check to see if maybe I had made a booking error. We stopped at the lobby bar for lunch the bartender was quick to take our order and and attentive to when we needed refills. I've seen some reviews complaining about the valet parking but that's pretty standard these days especially when the property has limited space and really $29 a day with unlimited in and out is not terrible. The room was very nice and modern, first place I've been that expects the modern traveler to have a plethora of electronic devices. There were outlets everywhere in the room and with the exception of the bathroom all had USB ports. Best shower I've had at a hotel, comfortable bed, and a nice view. I have to say worth the price. The only critiques I have would be that the menu was limited and it seems to be higher end properties should have free wifi read more

We've stayed at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum multiple times. We like the hotel, the rooms are spacious and the amenties are great. However, we will no longer stay at this hotel. The hotel requires use of the valet. During our stay we experienced multiple delays waiting on the retrieval of our car, but it was COVID and they were understaffed so we could live with that. On the final day we went to get our car and immediately noticed a scratch on the back-left corner of the car. Moreover, it had rained the night prior and the car was covered in the dust residue all over, except for at the location of the scratch where the valet had evidently wiped the surface after the incident. We flagged this immediately with the valet and were then put in touch with Brand Enhance parking. This is the company that the valet is outsourced to. This began a multiple month journey in which they tried to deny accountability, try to delay and obfuscate to get out of paying. Finally it appeared they had conceded and asked us to get a quote for the repairs, we did so and when they finally responded to us it was to haggle over the price and try to pay only a fraction of the cost. Hoping this review saves someone going through the experience we have. The hotel is great, but you can't access it without the valet and doing so puts your car in the hands of a company that will treat it and you with little to no respect! read more

We go to So Cal about 6-8 times a year. We stayed here for our many 2018 Disney So Cal trips for the 1st time in Thanksgiving (11/23/18 - 11/26/18). Not very far from Disney (about 15 minutes away) The hotel is newly renovated and very clean. Very Modern and spacious. We got the 2 queen room and the beds were very comfortable. Staff were very professional and accommodating to our needs/requests. Bathroom was clean and the housekeeping were on point everyday. The gym was so nice and well equipped that Boyfriend wanted to work out after a day or two in Disney!! but I was able to lure him with some fine wine instead lol. They have a very nice rooftop bar, which gets packed tin he weekend. There's a Starbucks for your coffee fix and a restaurant downstairs. The hotel is nearby Hello Kitty Cafe and Irvine Spectrum shopping center, walking distance, therefore we opted to eat out of the hotel every time. Only thing I didn't really like was that you can only VALET your car and have to pay $35-$40/per night. Overall, service and staff were excellent and the place is clean, roomy and comfortable. I do recommend this place (family or adult only) and will stay again!! read more

No extra blankets in the room; we asked for two more, only got one, and the guy didn't return with a second one. We were charged $14.95 for internet, but it was so slow that it frequently paused for buffering. Worst thing was room service. Food arrived in cardboard boxes with plastic utensils and plastic cups, and there were so many things wrong with our order that the manager comped the whole thing. I had such a lovely stay last weekend. This is the best hotel in the area and unlike the other Marriotts. I booked direct and indicated my preferences and Matt S. exceeded my expectations. The executive suite had a breathtaking view and the accommodations made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I will continue to say here as often as possible because of experiences like this! Other fun things:: - Their pool has extremely comfortable lounge chairs and they play trendy music. - Heirloom kitchen has a delicious kale salad and asparagus. (Very vegetarian friendly). I stayed at the Marriott with my wife on June 9th. I'll admit this part is on me, I left my work pants in the closet. When I called to ask for them in lost and found, they said there were no pants. I told the front desk agent I'd like to file a missing item report as a result and be CC'd in an e-mail. The e-mail was never sent and no one followed up. I just want to know this was looked into a little more seriously. Every time I call, I have to start this story all over again. No one knows I called regarding this to begin with. On a general booking note: We had also upgraded and asked for a sunset view room in our booking reservation. We got placed on the 2nd floor. Pros: - Good location to spectrum mall and easy access to multiple freeways Cons: - All the doors slam so whenever in the hallway closes a door, everyone can hear it. - If they put you on 2nd or 3rd floor, you can hear any of the activities in the gym which is on both floors. - you can only valet park here and it costs $39 a day if your staying at the hotel. If the valet folks say $39 for your stay, they are lying. - a lot of broken things in the room: fridge, blinds, tv...etc - bathroom door is not hinged so everyone can hear all activities Really disappointed and will not be staying here again. read more

Wow! This is probably the most modern, high tech hotel I've ever stayed at! And for the price I was highly impressed. The $34/day for the valet (which is the only parking option) was a little steep but I must say the service was worth it! And the option to text message when we needed our car was convenient and fast! All the staff were super friendly and hospitable. The only reason for 4 stars is the not so kid friendly feel of a hotel but I'm sure families with small children aren't their #1 clientele. We have two little ones and we're in town for a wedding and I think I saw one other kid here during our stay. I'd say it was mostly men in town for business? But the pool was nice and there's a grassy area with a huge chest board for kids to run around. The rooms are super clean, with modern decor, and clean lines. The lighting in the rooms were crazy cool, and the complimentary Alexa machine was a nice touch! The beds were comfy and there was so much storage space. We had a nice view of the pool and the rooms are pretty spacious. Only complaint is the square toilet bowls? Looked cool but let's just say they weren't as comfy as they looked. Showers were great with a nice , big shower head that had good pressure and another cool feature of the hand held shower head that was extra powerful for those hard to reach places! Starbucks on the premises is always a plus, just wish there was more options. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Spectrum but we drove there every time because not the safest walk with little ones considering the long busy streets. But close to many stores and restaurants, this place is the go-to for those who appreciate modern technology, making your stay easy! read more

Where do I start. First off at the price point expect a certain level of service. Having said that I've had better service at a Hotel 6 you would probably be better served going there. However I digress, the first problem started with ordering a Modelo at the bar. After a 29 minute wait I asked the waitress what was going on? She didn't know. She comes back "we are out of Modelo on draft." Really how long was that going to take to figure out. Then im forced to valle park my car. Cool, no problem. The problem starts when I go to get my car and 20 minutes and several apologizes later they can't find my car. I literally have to get my keys from them and go find my own car. Then I order too service. Oh yeah it will be up in 20 monitors. 30 minutes later I call down and the answer is "Oh I'm sorry I'm trying to find her now." Wait you lost the delivery person I eventually got my car and my food but at this price point unacceptable. I welcome anyone from the hotel to reach out to me. read more

The service is terrible, the "M Club" is barely stocked, crowded and serves terrible "food," and they force you to valet your car at $39 a night when they literally just drive your car about 50 ft behind the hotel to a lot that has about 200 open spots. They canceled our reservation at Hive and Honey due to weather, which is fine, but it's the whole reason we stayed at the hotel and they did nothing to remedy the situation. Pros: -Great helpful staff especially Kelsey and Donna -Beautiful lawn, pool, and conference rooms -Great gym with lots of equipment -Picture big windows in room to see Irvine. The only bummer is the view isn't that great since Irvine ain't that cool! -Good banquet and food at the heirloom kitchen -Sophisticated private dining room -Screens to guide you everywhere and showing maps and dynamic content (helpful for our conference) Cons: -Elevator system is annoying because you can only pick one floor at a time, which doesn't work if there's more than one group waiting at a time. There is such a thing as too much technology. -Super soft beds, I heard dozens of people mention that they couldn't sleep well because of this -Too cold inside all rooms -Parking- why can't we park our own cars? Forced valet in a parking lot that small really doesn't make much sense and it was annoying, especially at $15/day. -Bathroom has weird pocket doors which do not block sound at all. read more

We have stayed at this hotel 3 other times. Sadly, this time our experience was so poor we decided to leave just after checking in and never stay at this property again. We had to leave because the staff and the management were not competent at providing adequate service to guest. Below are the issues, which management did not address competently or satisfactorily. 1) Uninhabitable Room: As soon as we opened the door to our room a huge an overwhelming wave of "mariguana odor" was all we could smell, sadly we had our 5 year old with us 2) Privacy Invasion: In attempt to remedy the situation, they assigned us another room after 25 minutes and promised to transfer our luggage, we showed up to our newly assigned room and that room had another guest already checked in along with all their belongings 3) Lost luggage: They lost one of our luggage pieces while moving rooms, they did find it after another 30 minutes This hotel property must realize that you can't offer adequate service when the hotel's employees are not performing their jobs and where management can't manage.This property is missing the mark on the most basic services a hotel provides. Guests expect Marriott would teach management how to manage, as well as their employees how to take care of their jobs. Good management and trained personnel are the most important factors in a service business. read more

Easily the worse Valet service exists here. I arrived here at 10:30pm looking to valet the Range Rover. The valet guy approached my car and asked what private party are you with? I said I'm going Hive & Honey. Guy asked again what party are you with? I said I'm not with any party! He asked again...I said I just wanna go Hive and Honey. He said sorry cant valet you. LOL...what the heck? I'm Marriott Gold...can you please valet me. Guy said no...so I guess no Hive & Honey. Management seriously needs to have a talk with the Valet service for being super rude. I get if if your lot is FULL then say so don't keep responding to me with a question. Very agitating experience especially when I go to Hive & Honey I always get a bottle of champagne and an assortment of drinks!!! . . . #nogo #NoHiveHoney read more
