Ended up leaving hungry. The waitress was overworked by all kinds of tables, bussing them, setting up, and answering phone. We waited 10 minutes to be seated while there were empty tables, people in front of us seated immediately. However at first she assumed we were with people in front of us and then when we told us our party number she asked if we have a reservation- they weren't required so we didn't know and just live in town and wanted a bite. She proceeded to sit us at a table and said "this will have to work". After that she came back with water pretty quickly, but tried to take our order- we were still looking at appetizers but they have a small 2 page menu. We asked for more time and I finished 3 cups of water in 25 minutes and decided 35 minutes was too much to wait just to put our order in. Went somewhere else and even though we had to drive further out we were seated immediately and had our order taken within 10 minutes. I feel like another server or busboy or something would have relieved a lot of our waitress' stress but there was no acknowledgment, she wasn't even looking at our table when she was coming by. We just felt kind of ignored since we came in and I assume she was super overwhelmed by the volume of people. Have you been to Marrocco's lately? Delicious homemade Italian food just off the Peak 2 Peak. Well worth the beautiful drive. Homemade Italian dinners, a nice wine/beer selection, amazing desserts! There are nightly specials in addition to the delicious regular plates. Homemade pizza is also a great choice with delicious red (or white) sauce and various fresh toppings. My favorites are the ravioli or the Tomato/Basil pizza. If you are needing breakfast they also have it going on. Standards plus always something special. Not greasy! This is good breakfast food. My fav is the huevos rancheros. Friendly service, make a reservation during peak times if you are in a hurry (but why? Slow down and enjoy your day). I know they prefer cash/check over cc. You are lucky if there is any homemade dessert left, take advantage of a delicious treat! read more

We live just outside of Ward for half of the year. Every year on our return to the mountains we can hardly wait to go to Marrocco's. From the quaint atmosphere to the owners and staff and the food, we are never disappointed. Celeste and Patrick are the owners and the chefs. Patrick always has a couple of specials and a variety of home made soups. Celeste whips up pizzas and calzones that are delicious. Beth is the primary server and they are all as friendly as they come. We try to go for breakfast once a week with a group of our neighbors, (been a tradition for years). They serve the best blueberry pancakes I have ever tasted. We also try to go for dinner once a week And always take visitors. To have them here so close is like a bonus to us living here in the mountains! read more

Love Marrocco's!!!! Beth is just wonderful after meeting one time and revisiting months later, she still remembered our names. If you love good garlicky shrimp scampi this is the place to get it. If you don't want too much make sure to tell them, I always tell them extra bc I enjoy garlic. The pizza is fantastic as well and the Malbec they offer compliments our meals well. For breakfast we enjoy the coddled eggs and HUGE pancakes. Order one and you'll know what I mean. They close sometime in Jan for a few months and we inquire in Feb as we crave their food so often. Don't let Ward scare you if you're a tourist, it's a nice hidden gem that I enjoy sharing bc I want guests to support local businesses and this one is a shoe in! read more

I really wanted to like this place, given we live nearby and the thought of decent Italian food and a cozy atmosphere available without having to drive down the hill prepared us to become regulars. But heck, I can't even give this place three stars. We were left with the distinct impression that this place is hanging in there by a thread, cutting corners like crazy to make ends meet. The end result is obsequious staff and lousy food. An Italian restaurant must have fresh bread and simple, flavorful tomato sauce. Not here. Positives: 1. Cozy inside and plenty of customers, feels warm and welcoming. 2. Perfect location for a mountain restaurant. The down side: 1. Not enough staff, poor gal is busing tables as well as serving which equals a long wait for drinks and for the food to be served. 2. Food served warm, not hot. 3. Prices high. 4. Quality of ingredients and cooking sub par. Bread is awful. 5. Kids are allowed to run rampant, kills an adult atmosphere. Don't expect relax here after a long day. We are willing to pay those prices on a regular basis for better service and better food. We will try again in the summer. read more

Small joint out of the way in Ward but definitely worth your time if you're in the area. We ate breakfast and dinner here while vacationing in Colorado. We recommend you make reservations for dinner since seating and hours are limited. Breakfast is the typical menu and the pancakes are huge!! Try the blueberry pancakes. For dinner the menu is small (not a criticism since all dinner items were cooked perfect) and consists of Italian staples, including Pizza. Our family agreed the pizza was in the top 5 of any we've had before. I had the Shrimp and Broccoli Scampi. It came with the option of adding spice at 0-10. I ordered a "4" and it was PERFECT!! We didn't have anything negative to say about our experience. This place should advertise more but from what we heard from staff they don't like to advertise. I guess word of mouth (and Yelp) is the best advertisement. Oh - and the service was outstanding!!! read more

Delicious, friendly and unique! Marrocco's serves up wonderful homemade food. Breakfasts (Tuesday-Saturday) are mostly Mexican themed with top notch smothered huevos, breakfast burritos and green chili. There's also more traditional fare and wonderful blueberry pancakes! We love Marroco's! We had heard there was a little restaurant in Ward, but kept forgetting to check it out. After 11 yrs living in the city of Boulder, we moved up the canyon to Jamestown. We adore the Merc and were so pleased to hear there was another option close by for when the Merc is closed. The staff is wonderful. The restaurant itself is cozy, warm, immaculate and adorable. Breakfast is fantastic and we love the pizza and dinner options as well. Be sure to remember this is a mountain town and on mountain time. Your food won't be fast, but it will be great! It's not a trip to the cabin (located outside of Ward) without at least on meal at Marrocco's. Pat and Celste are great folks, and this is such a fun place to eat. Be sure to check the schedule, as they are only open on certain days (closed on Sunday b/c the restaurant doubles as a church). We typically get pizzas, and I have enjoyed every one I've tried. This past Friday, we ate breakfast here... my French toast was delicious, and my friend's corn beef hash and huevos rancheros were also good. You come here for the good food and friendly people. As other reviewers point out, the service is slow, but I'd say that's to be expected in a small town like Ward... life is just slower. This place has spectacular pizza and homemade italian fare. The wine list is organic and relatively inexpensive and the ambiance is great - a house like setting that doubles as a church on sundays. We bring our kids here a lot and the owners are warm and accepting of them in the restaurant. It's a little off the beaten path in Ward, but well worth the drive if you are in boulder or going to Brainard Lake and a neighborhood restaurant if you are in the close-in mountain communities like we are. The only reason I give the place four stars is they have odd hours (i believe thursday through saturday?) and I've driven up several times only to find them closed. Call before you go, but definitely try this out of the way gem. read more
