Marigold has been on my bucket list for several years. I was prompted to make a reservation when I saw that chef Theo Adley had opened Heretik in Rino recently and then noticed Google was promoting a wine dinner with 9 wines from Heinrich in far eastern Austria. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My reservation was for the patio in front. A pleasant place to sit with the sun setting soon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is only cozy seating for 32 people inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu was tailored to compliment the wines. My server, J Nessa R poured a full glass of 2022 Heinrich 'kind of blue', a light refreshing white wine. I chose both wine flights expecting small pours, but J Nessa R was a generous pourer. So I tried to drink less. The first course was the rosti (grilled potato patty) topped with herbs and trout roe. Very tasty and my 2nd fish roe this week. Next was the chilled pea soup flavored with mint with a heavy drizzle of olive oil and a small square of sheep's milk cheese. So very good! The 3rd course was a small portion of butterfly pasta. The 4th course was grilled trout with cauliflower & crayfish in a curry sauce. Most of the wines are light bodied with high acidity which is typical for the alpine terrior. The last wine was 'leithaberg', a more full bodied red wine with a ruby color that accented the trout and my dessert of cherry clafoutis with custard cream. It was so good, I bought a bottle for $40. Several food items were delivered by Theo Adley himself. No service charge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I checked the gender-free restrooms. Both were clean & filly accessible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio and bar is first come first serve.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will come up to Lyons again. J Tessa R said the menu changes daily. Theo's version of a caesar salad stays on the menu. I included the menu for 6/2 in this review.

Once in a while you go somewhere and you eat something life altering. Tonight was one of those nights. The "Caesar" salad was the best I've had in my life; it's not like any other salad of its kind and is a must have! All the other food was wonderful as well.

What a find!! We were up in Lyons camping at the Rockygrass festival and I happened to snag us a reservation here. Eric provided excellent service and 'recommendations' I put in quotes because he was reluctant to, indicating everything there was great. He wasn't wrong. We had the peach and melon app, chicken and bucatini Nero dishes and a bottle of wine. Also had two Hugo spritzes and they were refreshingly delicious. Everything was so incredible we came back 2 nights later! Had the carpaccio, porchetta, and rigatoni. All was fantastic but if I had to choose our first nights choices were the best. The menu changes daily but always updated on the website. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small and romantic, you definitely want to get a reservation though we had luck sitting at the bar on a Sunday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will be back again and again! One additional note they have plenty of gluten free options. Go check it out!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This smaller, quaint restaurant is quite the find![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was impeccable; menu rotates so different dishes all the time; fair drink menu & they will make one not listed; the dishes were refined, tasteful, unique, flavor combos were surprising & delicious, albeit the servings were European-sized.

Excellent dinner at Marigold. I believe this is best restaurant in Boulder county and perhaps the entire Denver/Boulder area.

This place is great. The food and the hospitality were both fabulous. We were an admittedly annoying group; we came in without a reservation for a birthday and moved tables several times because half of our party was late and the weather was not cooperating, The staff was cool about it and were very accommodating. The food and service were excellent. Very nice wine list and some very unique items with some brave ingredients (that's some strong tallegio!) Certainly the best place in town and will definitely return. Great, memorable dinner service.

    Whimsical menu cover.

This amazing James Beard finalist is the best food in Lyons and Longmont. With a focus on Italian style seafood, the flavors and execution are impeccable. The staff are friendly, prompt and well-informed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is playful and we were able to have a conversation without yelling at each other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely destination-worthy! Don't miss this treat!

    Intimate and pleasant atmosphere

After reading so many great reviews of Marigold and all the awards, my husband and I were very excited about trying the place. We both liked the intimate, laid-back atmosphere, similar to a small neighborhood bistro. I was glad I had made a reservation inside, because the patio consists of a few tables on the sidewalk, directly on Main Street. Despite the plants that offer a small buffer from the cars, it's not pleasant. What could be fun in a big city like Paris or New York, where people-watching and crowds can be part of the experience, is not at all Lyon's vibe. I love to start with a cocktail, but there were only five offered, all of them very classic, so I opted for wine instead. As for the food, the menu is also quite limited, but if it's well prepared, that's what matters to me. Regarding the menu, bring your phone to decipher it. I have an advantage being French; I can guess the meaning behind some Italian and Spanish terms, and I've traveled a good amount in Europe. Lucky me, brandade and caponata are not mysterious to my palate (these were on the menu). But I was scratching my head over güeyu mar conservas, finocchiona, farinata, stracciatella, maltagliati , bottarga di muggine. My husband and I didn't want to bother our waitress and started working on the translation. It could almost become a game. For example, Celeriac parmigiana is like the eggplant Italian dish, but made with celery root. However, we were hoping to have a relaxing dinner, not be tested on our culinary vocab skills, or lack thereof, and it quickly became annoying. We started with the bread and finocchiona (I'll let you guess what it is, so that you can see how "fun" it is), both very good. I don't know exactly how to put it, but I didn't feel welcome. Worse, very quickly, we felt rushed. It didn't help that out of the two drinks each of us had, our waitress tried to get our glasses before we were done half the time. I'd say the food was good, but nothing exceptional. What might have attracted awards and rave reviews is the originality of the cuisine. I do like to be surprised when eating out and love to order what I would not cook at home. But there's a fine line between interesting and pretentious. Unfortunately, the less than friendly service, hard to decode menu, and fairly high prices, brings Marigold into the arrogant category, trying too hard to impress. During dessert, she came to ask if we needed anything else, and when I answered yes by mistake (the place was loud, and this was a silly automatic response to the expected "is everything all right"), I got the bill right away. I guess I was not the only one not paying attention. My husband noticed, though, asking if I needed anything else. In her rush, she also had added an extra $19 glass of wine to our bill. Hard to believe in such a small place. We were both disappointed, and I left frustrated. For us, it's certainly not worth all the hype and definitely not the half hour drive from our house.

Heirloom Spinach Salad - soooo good

Let me start by saying that I think Marigold is a great new addition to the Lyons area. They opened last year and and their menu is inspired by Northern Italian & Southern French cuisine. The decor reminds me of modern farmhouse chic if that's a thing? I liked the lighting, art, and candlestick wine bottles adorning the front table. As far as comfort though I have to knock off a few points. I sat at the bar and it felt a little cramped and the stool was hard as a rock. Now, if you're a big bootied lady or fella these stools are NOT for you. I stood for half the meal lol. The tables were also pretty close together which reminded me more of a cafe and less like fine dining. Now for the food/drinks - . Aperitivo: mon chéri, off to the wild races, & le club 55 - all were good although I've had better Antipasti: babettes country loaf, white bean puree - this I'm sad to say was just OK. For bread at that cost I was picturing a warm, moist loaf but it's served cold and there's nothing that special about it. The dip was decent but I wouldn't order the bread again. Primi: bucatini 'all'amatriciana'. Very tasty and a nice al dente. A tad heavy on the lemon but would order again Secondi: hangar steak & pan-roasted cod, potatoes, snowpeas, xo sauce. I thought the hangar steak was the better entree and really liked the sauce it came with. It was cooked medium rare. The cod was cooked well but something about the flavors just didn't quite align for me. Insalata: heirloom spinach, soft egg, speck, honey mustard (ok, so this was one of the best salads I've ever tasted 10/10 recommend) Overall, a nice dining experience. The service was good and I really liked the vibe, but some of the food I felt could have been a bit better. I would recommend for a nice date night.

The service is incredible and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is incredible and presented like you would expect from a French chef. Not a lot of plant based options, however, the Beet Salad with vinaigrette is outstanding, so there is that to enjoy. The flavors of sweet and salty are balanced perfectly! The colors and vibrancy also made it picture worthy. They offer an incredible wine selection that will suit everyone's tastes and preferences. Also, if you love coffee, their roast is delicious and it's the best ending to a lovely meal. Don't miss this place if you want a Parisian-style experience!

Brasserie Ten Ten feels increasingly rare now…read more Even in very good restaurants, actual tablecloths have become uncommon. At lunch, rarer still. So when you settle into Brasserie Ten Ten, with its white linen, substantial silverware, mirrors, low conversational buzz, and faint 1920s salon energy, you will notice. There's something a little Gertrude Stein about the place: people lingering, talking, drinking and eating well, behaving as if the outside world can wait. It feels slightly Parisian, in the best way. Refined but lived in. A room designed for appetite and conversation. If cigarettes were still allowed, you could almost imagine someone chain smoking over a third glass of wine while arguing about literature or the affair they're having. But this is still Boulder, where the fantasy stops just short of the inevitable side-eye and civic disapproval. And then there is the gauze-wrapped lemon. The first time I ever saw one of those mesh bundles tied up for squeezing over seafood, I thought it was the height of sophistication and luxury. The gauze has the faint sexiness of pantyhose while also serving a very practical purpose. A factory worker's kid like me being mesmerized by a lemon condom probably tells you something about aspiration in America. I started with the pâté, which was exactly the right kind of decadent. I paid the extra charge to swap the crostini for bread, which was absolutely the correct decision. I ate about a third and boxed the rest before things got irresponsible. The Boulder influence...nah. The accompaniments were classic: grainy mustard, tiny olives, and a small pile of pickled vegetables cutting through all that pâté richness. The bouillabaisse was mostly lovely. The seafood was cooked expertly, which matters in a dish where every type requires slightly different timing. The shrimp were especially sweet. I would have liked more cod, which felt a little stingy, and while the saffron broth was flavorful, it leaned more tomato-forward than I personally prefer. Still, between the mussels, shrimp, cod, rouille-slathered toast, and that absurdly elegant lemon situation, the fisherman's stew delivered exactly the kind of brasserie pleasure I came searching for. Service at the bar was confident and relaxed. Two bartenders understood the balance between attentiveness and hovering. Not doting, which I don't need, but every need was met. Real napkins. A dedicated, and attended, host stand. People who seemed comfortable in the room instead of performing hospitality theater. Not an everyday lunch. You notice the prices. You should. But every once in a while, it's good to sit somewhere that still believes lunch can stretch a little too long, conversation matters, and a gauze-wrapped lemon can still feel faintly glamorous. There may be no cigarette smoke, no Left Bank argument unfolding over wine, no real salon except the one you briefly imagine. But Brasserie Ten Ten still knows how to make lunch feel like an act of civilization: linen, appetite, conversation, and just enough theatre to make the afternoon seem...negotiable. Gertrude Stein probably would've approved.

Ok, we went here last Sunday, I wasn't hungry, but my wife was, so we thought we would use the card. Wife ordered a beef dip, one of her favorite sandwiches, not on my top 10 list. I ordered a charcuterie plater, figured we could take it home, which we did. Anyway, I took a bit of her sandwich, and even though I wasn't hungry, I ate about half of it. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had of any kind. Very simple but delicious. Baguette was amazing, beef appeared to be cured somehow, huge flavor, au jus was great. Today I am going to Timnath to meet a friend for lunch and I am going to make a 30 minute detour to get a sandwich for us for dinner. Not inexpensive, but worth it. As a former bookstore, this restaurant has a lot of charm that makes for a cozy ambience, especially on a Sunday afternoon. We had a mix of mix of French and Spanish cuisine, starting with Truffle Fries, followed by Beef Bourguignon and Shakshouka, and ending with Basque Cheese Cake. I also had French Press Coffee as well, and just to get that out of the way, wow, such a good coffee! I'm an espresso and Americano purist, and somehow this French Press tasted like a very good Americano with a more nuanced, sweet chocolatey taste. But enough of that, let's get to the delicious food, and yeah, they are all so good! The Truffle Fries to start is just seriously addicting with its potent combination of Parmigiano, parsley, and white truffle oil. In fact, the ketchup is completely unnecessary and detracts from the deliciousness of the fries. The aioli provided adds another twist to the fries for variety, too. The Beef Bourguignon is surprisingly soft and delicate, but never bland or mushy. It plays that fine line beautifully and it is a delight and comforting to eat. The beef is tender, yet savory. It's appropriate that Bourguignon has a red wine reduction component because this dish is as nuanced and delicious as fine wine. Now going to the Spaniard side of the cuisine, the Shakshouka fires it up with a tomato and egg stew that's bursting with flavor! There is balance with the acidity and cheesiness, coupled with one of the tastiest flatbread I've had in recent memory. Finally, the Basque Cheese Cake, named after the Basque Country in Northern Spain, absolutely delivers as a dessert. This isn't an ordinary cheese cake because of the dulce de leche and candied pecans. I just love having the playful contrast of the semisoft cheese cake with the sweet and crunchy pecans. The Dulce de Leche adds another layer of sweetness that is so delectable. It really is 3 different way of sweetness that all works so well together.

Interior is very "Parisian cafe", period art, TVs showing videos of the pastry chefs doing their thing. She ordered a hot chocolate to start, and a Parisian crêpe (berries, whip cream, raspberry coulis). I ordered a galette (think square envelope-crêpe) from the savory side. I'd had it last visit and had been looking forward to a redux. I ordered the Professeur Steve, capers, mushrooms, caramelized onions, spinach and brie, which arrived with smoked salmon arranged like a rose at opposing corners (keeps it cold). Oh man, this brie-gooing mushroomy sweet-caramelly onion spinach umami explosion goes perfectly taken in a bite with the salmon. Addiction sated; withdrawals saved off until next June's visit. Wife's crêpe was delicious--everything sweet-toothers love. Hot chocolate is real. Like not from a packet but from a chocco chunk and paid labor somewhere nearby. Whipped cream was real, and thick enough that it could have been sliced and served on its own. Absolutely freaking delicious. Love this place. See you in a year!
