I was helped by Julia who was absolutely incredible. She was by me every step of the way, listening to what I did and didn't want, and making changes along the way in the dresses she was picking out for me. I am so bummed that I didn't buy my dress with Julia because she deserves all the praise for her kindness, helpfulness and patience. My appointment at Marry and Tux was my very first bridal appointment--and my first time ever trying on wedding dresses. From the very beginning, the team was incredibly responsive and kind. I had messaged the store through Facebook ahead of time asking about specific dresses I'd seen on their social media, and every single time, I got a reply. No delays, no radio silence--just helpful, friendly responses. A couple of days before my appointment, I received an email from my consultant asking for photos of dresses I liked. We ended up having a back-and-forth conversation that lasted all afternoon, which made me feel so seen and heard before I even walked in the door. When I arrived, I was thrilled to find out that my consultant was Tenley--the same person I'd been messaging on Facebook and the one I'd seen featured in their posts. She was just as lovely in person as she'd been online. We browsed both the clearance and regular rooms, and as someone only interested in color (no white for me!), I was pleasantly surprised by how many gorgeous options I had--including black! Yes, black! Tenley was there every step of the way, helping me into each and every dress. She had a system--"dive, arms up, rotate!"--and honestly, it made the whole thing fun. I felt like a queen being styled for a royal ball. I didn't know at the time just how special this level of service was, but after visiting another salon that treated us... let's just say very differently, I now realize Tenley truly set the bar sky-high--for both me and my mom. That care, attention, and energy? Unmatched. The second dress I tried on that day became the one to beat at all my other appointments. And although I did end up finding "the one" somewhere else, that second dress lived in my mind as the gold standard--and if I hadn't found my dress, I would've absolutely come back for it. They reached out upon first contact and asked for my preferences. However, when I arrived for my appointment, no one had that information, prepared anything in advance, nor did they care to ask Again or listen when I told them specifics. I showed pictures of what I liked and they scoffed that those weren't right for me. They immediately pointed me toward particular dresses which I specifically said I did not want and away from those I liked. Extremely high pressure sales tactics when I insisted I wanted time to think they brought in others to insist I "say yes to the dress." Definitely will steer you from their deals heavily advertised to get you in the door by pointing out all the flaws and cheap materials to get you to choose a more expensive dress. Told me I would only get a discount as a first time customer, should buy a sample from the store since it would take 6-8 months to order one (their website says a few weeks), and that this was a better price than I could find elsewhere (it wasn't). No returns or exchanges, even within a day for an unworn, unopened item. No answer when I asked for any kind of store credit or even to pay a re-stocking fee. They clearly work on commission and will make you feel like a you are totally wasting their time if you don't buy something. "Why did you drive all this way if you weren't serious?" "Why do you need to ask anyone else if you are the one wearing it?" I have cried for a week and haven't slept. This is going to be a long post so I apologize but I don't want another bride to go through what I went through. Went to Marry & Tux for my wedding gown, back in January for my wedding that is now in 2 days. The woman who helped me seemed great. I found "the dress" but it felt very tight in the stomach area, she told me it's because it has boning in it. The arms/sleeves were incredibly tight, but she said that could easily be fixed by adding a gusset. She said I'd need minimal and simple alterations done to the dress. Fast forward to the day of picking up the dress. I try it on, and again it felt tight but I believed her in that's just the way it is. She had to use bungee cords and clips to zip me. I asked if it will be tough to get on the day of. Her response "it'll take 3 people but you'll be ok" so I believed her, the professional. My receipt said "sample size fits well." Abain, not knowing how a wedding dress should feel, I trusted their expertise. Fast forward to bringing the dress for alterations. The alteration woman explained they ordered my dress TWO SIZES TOO SMALL, she explained she will need to take out AT LEAST two inches of the waist, along with a bunch of other things that I honestly don't even remember. She said if I went to sit in the dress, the zipper would bust open. Let's also add that I didn't gain weight, I've lost! This seamstress/tailor basically had to reconstruct my entire dress, when it all could have been avoided by them ordering a larger size that actually fit. Last week I had my final fitting after the alterations and omg am I shocked! My dress fits INCREDIBLE and I feel like I can breathe and move in it. I've been trying to let this slide because I don't want to bash a business, but something needs to be said. I also settled for a used shirt as "the ordered shirts are tight fit" I was unconvinced my vest was fitted correctly . Asked multiple times to order the next size up to be more comfortable. Came here with FMIL from recommendation of another Bride to check out their more extensive "plus-size" inventory. (Honestly didn't have a problem with finding the right size at other bridal shops.) Long story short, if you're willing to drop several thousands even before alterations then they have a good selection. Otherwise if you stick with the lowest bucket you are out of luck. They are located right off the highway and the parking situation is not the best. They have limited spots in the front and more in the back but the only entrance you can go in is through the front. They will NOT let you access the bridal section downstairs directly. It's like this mystical, secretive place that you will need a bridal consultant to access. The top floor has all the colorful dresses that are for bridesmaids or prom. Also I'm not fan of their restrictive hours. I understand that as a small business you can set your own hours. It took us nearly 2 months to make an appointment in July since they aren't open at all on Sundays and only from 10-4pm on Saturday. They have a few nights they are open until 8pm, but what a headache driving from MA up to Nashua during the week. (All in the name of saving some luxury tax $.) Upon our arrival (we were about half an hour early) they told us that Katie our bridal consultant was not ready yet but I filled out their info card. They had a few buckets for your "budget" and the lower end was $900-$1500. I would not associate this place with the word affordable. We had to kill some time so we browsed around upstairs, as we were not allowed even to take a peak at the bridal gowns downstairs. Mind you the only bathroom is also downstairs. We then stopped at the Dunkin' Donuts across the street as the inventory upstairs we finished looking at after a few minutes. They did give me a small gift just for making an appointment, which was a pair of cute white earring studs. Too bad I don't have my ears pierced. As others have mentioned, they do have a "NO photo" policy, which is not even consistently enforced from some of the other photos uploaded. We snuck in some quick photos while she was putting away the dresses, grabbing the others we had picked and finding some accessories. I highly doubt most brides decide on the dress right there and then on the same day. How are you supposed to remember what it looked like otherwise? Oh as for the accessories (flower crown and veil) they were $150 and $200 a piece! WHY?! They are quite protective/secretive about the brands and styles so they probably don't want you to undercut their profit and try to purchase elsewhere. The fitting room is quite small and only had 1 chair, so as they recommended on the site, don't come with more than 2 people. There's a pedestal for you to step on in the middle to view the dress in its full glory. It was a nice touch that they had waters in there. You'll definitely work up a thirst slipping in and out of those dresses. Katie was extremely helpful and efficient in helping me in and out of the dresses. She also selected a few styles that I tried on. Putting on and taking off the dresses can be quite an ordeal. I understand that they don't want the customers handling the dresses themselves since they don't want to potentially damage these expensive dresses. They book the appointments for an hour so near the end they were nipping on my heels to get me either to making a 60% deposit on the dress to purchase since one of them looked quite nice on me or purchase it outright. They were offering a $300 discount on one of the dresses I really liked for the beautiful lace train detail. The discount was for the floor model, to purchase the sample as is. I felt uneasy about dropping $1,100+ right away so I walked away and my search continued... Happy ending I did find my dress a month later online from somewhere else. read more

In September I went to Mary & Tux as a bridesmaid with 4 other girls. We had Jewels as the consultant. When I had picked out my dress, she took my measurements and told me to order 3 sizes larger than what I was wearing. I told her no I am not doing that, and she continued to argue with me on it. When I would not budge, she wrote a very condescending note on my receipt about her recommended size, and I chose not to go with it. Well, I recently picked up my dress and other than needing a hem it fits perfectly. If I had gone with her suggested size, she argued with me about I would have needed many alterations. All girls in the group had the same issue with Jewels telling them to size up. One girl was wearing a dress and she said well try on the next size, so she did, and jewels insisted on her ordering that size even though the dress was hanging off of her back. She said Well you can always have it altered. The bridesmaid said why would I do that when the smaller size fits? In the end the girls who did not listen to her have dresses that fit. On top of the condescending attitude from Jewels the entire time, at the end of check out it asks for a tip. I'm not sure why such a job would have the option for a tip, and why anyone would tip after that kind of service. I decided to leave me review here as well as google. After the shop left a snarky response, as they do to all of their poor reviews. Nothing wrong with defending yourself, but they are just rude. As a plus size bride-to-be, my wedding dress shopping experience was a bit nerve-wracking. As soon as I arrived to Marry & Tux, all of those nerves disappeared. Destenie took me around the store and let me look at countless plus sized dresses. She watched as I told her which ones I liked most and quietly took note of my style preferences. The outside of the store is deceiving, as it's GIGANTIC inside on both the top (more traditional size) and bottom (curvier size) levels. Just walking around during this portion was so much fun! After walking around, Destenie took me into a dressing room. I loved that it wasn't overcrowded there, so my mom, future mother-in-law, and future sister-in-law all got plenty of space. Destenie brought in one of my favorite dresses first. As a seamstress, she had a feeling that its cut would be the most flattering. It was so ridiculously perfect and gorgeous. I tried more dresses, but ended up saying yes to that first dress. Destenie even found a perfect veil for me too! I couldn't have asked for a better experience and, personally, loved getting to know Destenie a bit too. She was wonderful in every way! I would recommend this bridal store to any future bride! I went to another boutique before coming here and smiled through the whole process because I was determined to have a good day shopping for my dress but I didn't realize how utterly disappointing the other place was until I walked through the doors at Marry and Tux. The entry way is beautiful and spacious. Staff greeted my mother, sisters, and I immediately. I met my consultant, Julia, who was just amazing. She gave me complementary earrings for keeping my appointment (they're adorable). She took us downstairs and I could not believe the selection. She didn't rush us into the dressing room she didn't rush us at all! My sisters and my mom were going nuts, tagging dresses and calling out to me while I quietly picked over a few in the curvy couture room. The whole time, Julia stayed by my side listening to what I liked about one dress and didn't like about another. That really impressed me and made me feel extremely valued. We finally went into the dressing room, which was huge. Julia offered me a slip which I'd never seen used before (but i highly recommend it). It made the dresses slip right on and off. Usually, I sweat like a pig when I try on dresses but something about Julia's calm or just the atmosphere in general made me completely relaxed. We had the entire room to ourselves. I didn't see one other bride which was impressive seeing I know they were completely booked and the parking lot was full. I could not believe how many dresses I ended up loving. They have some of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen. You can feel the quality in every stitch. I was thinking I was going to have a hard time picking one but then I put one on in particular and it felt like it was made for me. I can't stop looking at pictures of my dress and cannot wait to walk down the aisle in it. One of my favorite parts of the experience was that the owner kept coming in and giving recommendations and commenting on the dresses. She was really involved in the whole process and could I tell it was a passion of hers. They gave me a beautiful rhinestone pin after saying yes to the dress. I really didn't think I could like this place any more and then I got a letter from the owner thanking me and stating that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to local and overseas charities that they are involved in. Seriously?! I was anxious reading that they didn't allow you to take pictures unless you were buying the dress but honestly that did not bother me at all. It felt like everyone was more in that moment with me instead of being behind their phones. The only other negative is that they don't have on-site seamstresses but they do have a list of those they recommend (although your welcome to pick your own). My consultant Stephanie refused to listen to anything I said I wanted in my dress. I said I really didn't like corset backs, she put me in multiple corset backs. I said I really liked the designer Essense of Australia, and she didn't put me in a single one, and even at the end said "this designer would look really good on you but we didn't have a chance to put you in any of these." I told her I had tried on an Essense dress previously and liked the fit and style of those but I hadn't been completely won over. She told me I would never have the bridal moment I was looking for. I told her I really liked illusion backs, not one had an illusion back. I drove 2 hours for the Curvy Maggie Sottero event at the salon and she refused to put me in a single one of those dresses. She said and I quote "those will not fit you." I'm a street size 16 (regular, not plus) and as far as I know, the point of a sample dress isn't for it to fit perfectly. I left in tears by how I was treated. At one point she even said to me, "there are 150 gowns in here, if I can't find you one it doesn't exist" but gave up after 5 dresses and told me to go home and come back more prepared. I was prepared. I knew what I wanted, she wasn't listening and just kept putting me in what she thought would As a store that supposedly caters to plus size brides, you should really train your staff how to not fat shame. Update: I went to another salon and found an amazing gown and was treated like a queen. I found my dress there after only 3 dresses. read more

I told my consultant, Stephanie, about my vision and she pulled dresses that fit it perfectly. I was stuck between two of them and I was thinking I would leave and come back another day. I live all the way in CT and Stephanie pointed out "if you love this, what are you waiting for?" and if she hadn't had said that, I might've not even had a dress for my wedding because I can be so indecisive! Although I am beyond ecstatic to marry my best friend next month, wedding dress shopping was one of the pre-wedding tasks I dreaded most. I came to Marry & Tux to shop for a wedding dress back in January after visiting a ridiculously overpriced boutique on Newbury street in Boston and a disappointing trip to BHLDN- not only was the selection great, but I actually had fun trying on dresses! I entered Marry and Tux's to try on a dress I feel in love with online, and to try on different styles to get a basic idea of what to be looking for as my wedding is two years away. Very beautiful area and enough seats for my guest to view me in the dresses. allowed me to facetime with my mother. Dislikes: you can not take pictures. You are given no information on the designer or your size until you commit to the dress. (which is different from other bridal shops I visited). They have names for their dresses and everything is a mystery/secret. Their dresses are marked up an extreme amount. I was told my dress was 2199 before alterations. After a lot of web searching i found out my dress was only 1299. I contacted other stores that carry the brand and ordered my dress for $900 cheaper. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy wedding dress shopping. As a plus sized bride, I knew there was a chance there wouldn't be much I could try on without heavy clipping and a lot of imagination, and I had heard my fair share of horror stories about bridal consultants making brides feel terrible about themselves (at all sizes). Fortunately, I was lucky to have a wonderful bridesmaid who did EXTENSIVE research on bridal salons that would be able to provide me with the happy, positive experience every bride hopes for when looking for a dress. I'm even more lucky my first (and only) stop was to Marry and Tux. The selection of dresses I could try on was so large, I couldn't even keep track of the number of dresses I tried (I'm guessing around 10-12 at least). And the best part was that those weren't just the only dresses they had available, those were just the dresses in the cut I was looking for. Our consultant Katie was wonderful and after gauging a few of my initial reactions, her next pulls kept getting better and better. I ended up narrowing it down to four great options before retrying on an early favorite and realizing it was the one. Being able to get so specific and get exactly what I wanted was so special to me. Mary & Tux is a fantastic bridal salon. I worked with Julia and she was amazing! Julia worked tirelessly helping my find the perfect dress for my special day. She did a great job in helping me figure out what I want and make sure it looked great on me too. Julia was kind, patient, caring and very compassionate. I must have made at least 4 or 5 appointments to try on "the dress" and every time she helped me with a smile. They were able to easily accommodate me and got me an appointment within 2 days of every call - sometimes they could even fit me in same day. When the time came for bridemsaid dresses, Julia was there again to help me pick the winning dress. Caty & Marry and Tux saved my wedding! I'm petite plus sized so nothing ever looks right. I dreaded wedding shopping from the day I met my fiancé for this reason. If you're built like me you MUST request Caty because she knows exactly how to make you look stunning. Every dress I tried on looked amazing, as in better than I think I've ever felt about myself. The third dress was the one. So how did they save my wedding? I went to two other stores after M&T, mostly because we had appointments and felt like it happened too quickly! BIG MISTAKE. One place shamed me for wanting bling and cleavage and the other forced me into corsets that didn't fit and made it impossible to try on anything. Both places had tiny selection and gave me dresses that made me look like a house. The only thing that saved me was remembering how beautiful I looked and felt earlier in the day. If I hadn't gone to M&T I'd have had a breakdown and demanded from my fiancé that we cancel the whole wedding in order to avoid having to go through that again. It might've put a serious strain on our relationship and been a whole big ordeal. Everything she said and did was snooty and over-the-top. I could not WAIT to escape from her and her clutches. A special note to Marie: your shop is in a strip mall next to an Auto parts store. It's Nashua, not NYC, you don't work at Kleinfeld's. Get off your high horse and work on some basic customer service skills. My sister had a bridal appointment today. Here is my review based my perspective of the experience: My group of eight first met with Christy. We were told we had to take our coats off and put them in a separate room "in the event that there was rain on them so they wouldn't ruin the dresses" (sounds logical, however keep reading to see why this doesn't make sense). Christy seemed annoyed with us when we asked to keep our coats on because it was cold out and cold inside. We were told that we absolutely had to put our coats in this separate room. My sister and other group members proceeded to pick dresses we thought my sister may like. My sister set clear guidelines at the beginning of the appointment of her budget. The dresses my sister initially chose were in her budget. Some of dresses Christy pulled were over her budget and she even said "well it's only a few hundred dollars over your budget"... A budget is a budget so respect that and pull dresses only in the budget. The dresses my sister tried on were too small, so instead of her walking through the basement in an exposed back, I simply pulled one dress that I think she would have liked. I was told by Christy to not do this. I asked how my sister would see the dress if I did not pull it for her to even make an initial decision. Beware. you will get yelled at for pulling dresses yourself. The no coat rule does not make sense when you cannot even hold the dresses yourself. The no picture rule is quite ridiculous as well. How does one assess their body in the dress without being able to see it in a permanent photo. Another thing: instead of rolling/clamping the dress to make it fit your body nicely the way it should, this place uses pillows to "fill the space" which makes the person looks much heavier than they are. We were told that they do not clamp dresses because it was a "$3,000 dress" which apparently they resell. We've been to many other salons with much more expensive dresses and they use industrial clamps to clamp the dress. At 11:10am we were told that we "had to see what time it was because the appointment would end soon and we only had time for two more dresses". The appointment lasted until 11:30am. We felt so rushed. My sister was in and out of dresses so fast. There was plenty more time for several dresses. Overall experience: as a plus size woman myself, I would not be back to this establishment for my own bridal shopping. The dresses did not wow me at all. The overall experience was negative. We felt rushed. Christy was rude. I know this place specializes in plus size, however I'd rather take my money somewhere else and have a more positive experience. read more

Marry & Tux is amazing! Just make your appt and GO! I had gone to a few other places in the area and was unimpressed by how I was treated and the selection of gowns. I was feeling pretty deflated & discouraged when I booked my appt. Thankfully, Marry and Tux was incredible - from the appt booking to arrival to the shopping experience it was all so thoughtful, warm and special. On top of that the selection of gowns (including over size 14) and price range was fantastic! My consultant, Tenley, was with me the whole time and was so helpful and patient! She truly helped me find the right gown for my body and wedding setting. The owner was also so sweet and kind. I can't thank everyone at Marry and Tux enough for helping me SAY YES TO THE DRESS!!!! read more

I recently visited Marry & Tux's new plus size boutique on a Saturday, by appointment. Ultimately, I bought my dress at another store, but overall I had a decent experience here, with two minor issues described below. Kelly was my consultant and she was very nice. When we first got there, we were brought into the plus size room where all the larger sample sizes are located. We were told to look around and pick out 4 gowns that I wanted to try on. We walked around and looked at the dresses, which were all in bags. Most of the bags had a picture of the dress on the bag, which was good because otherwise you would have no idea what the dress looked like all bunched up in a garment bag. The dresses were organized by size and they had all 4 walls in the room full of plus sizes samples to try on. I give M&T credit for dedicating an entire section of the store to plus size samples - - it is the reason I made the trip up to Nashua. Most of the dresses I saw were very fancy and elaborate - - gowns with a lot of embellishment, big skirts, etc. I was looking for something more simple, but I did find 4 to try on. All of the dresses I pulled were priced between $800 and $1400 dollars. The dresses were beautiful - - the samples are in very good shape. My consultant Kelly helped me in and out of the gowns and she is a miracle worker with a corset back (totally gives your waist an hour glass definition!) She even brought me a dress to try on that I would have never pulled, but it looked good. But it was a bit fancier than I wanted for my casual outdoor summer wedding. I give Kelly credit because she could tell I was on the fence and comparing the dresses at M&T to the one I found at the first store, and she did encourage me to go try on the other dress again before I made a decision - - there was no real pressure to "buy now" which I appreciated. (Ultimately, I purchased the chiffon dress that I had tried on at a different store earlier in the day, which was on sale for $499.) I'm subtracting 2 stars, however, because towards the end of my appointment one of the managers came up to my consultant and said in a snotty voice "this better be the last one" when I was trying on my last dress. My Maid of Honor overheard this and she immediately understood this to mean that we were no longer welcome in the store. It was awkward. I understand that the store needs to keep people moving to make room for the next appointment, but surely their must be a better and more polite way to let the consultant know that they gotta keep things moving. I mean, come on people, there is no need to be rude about it. Also, there were not enough chairs in the plus size area for my 4 guests to sit while I tried on dresses. My future mother in law had to stand the whole time we were there - - no one offered to bring her in another seat, which I thought was strange. Aside from those 2 small issues, it was a decent experience. If you are a plus size bride, I would say definitely check this place out. I wouldn't let one snotty manager deter you. If you are a curvy lady you have to make an appointment. I was so scared to go dress shopping. My two girl friends had to almost literally drag me in kicking and screaming. My finance had to remind me that he thought I was beautiful about four times before I left the house. When I walked in it was a bit overwhelming. There were a ton of people... Everywhere... Thankfully I was taken rather quickly downstairs by my consultant. It was much quieter downstairs. The consultant could see by my face how scared I was. She took my hands and reassured me that I was in the right place. She asked me what I wanted in a dress and I started to tell her all the things that I had heard big girls were "supposed" to wear. She told me just to pick out what I liked and forget about what I had heard. I fell in love with the first dress... And guess what... I could fit my tushy in it... And it looked pretty good. I seriously had thought that there was no possible way that I would be able to fit in a sample at a bridal shop. And it wasn't just the first dress... I was able to try on about six dresses. Although there was no need after the first one. The best part was definitely the consultant Marie. She at no time made me feel like my size was an issue and she even gave me a new appreciation for my curves. The price was a little more than I would have liked to have spent, but it was totally worth it and a portion of the proceeds go to multiple charities that focus on feeding the hungry. What especially sold me is that they donate to the nashua soup kitchen and shelter which is an amazing organization that was my first job out of undergrad.
