I wanted a French theme birthday dinner and Paris Bar was perfect for it! The decor inside the restaurant was France inspired. The food was great and the service was lovely! Besides booking the restaurant for a birthday, it was restaurant week. The dinner deal was $60 for a three course meal. 5 out of 6 of us ordered from the restaurant menu. The staff honored the lobster bucatini, because the menu online had it but the paper menu one did not. I was happy the restaurant did that. The bucatini was worth it. It came with a lobster tail on top of the pasta. The steak frites were good, except it had too many frites. The eggplant pantoufle with the sauce was delicious. Salmon was nice and saucy. Scallop ceviche was a cold salad that went well with the chips on the side. I really loved the croquettes! Croquettes were stuffed with goat cheese and the dip is a fancy honey. Bouillabaisse was a nice seafood soup. Overall, food was great and filling. The drinks were just okay. A few of us felt the drinks were watered down. The lychee blossom had a lot of ice and was just refreshing. The World Cup, as well. The drinks could've been better. The waiter, Richard, treated us with 100 percent kindness. He was super polite and attentive to our order. He even assisted in taking our photos at the end of the meal. Food: 4 / 5 While I can't write about every dish... in no particular order, the Pimmes Frittes are crispy and scrumptious, The haricrot verts are sautéed to perfection. A well flavored classic french onion soup is delicious and presented uniquely with a puffed pastry topping. Not something I typically order at restaurants, but the COQ AU VIN with the butternut squash, figs and red wine are amazing textures coupled together for devine flavor. My complaint, they only offer this dish intermittenly. Now, for two items I believe should be their signature and trademark dishes; The french dip SANDWHICH and the GOAT CHEESE CROQUETTES are remarkable. The french dip is absolutely satisfying, crispy french bread with au jus flavored tender roast beef, will get you to order an extra one to go! You'll say it's for tomorrow's lunch, but we will know it won't make it home, even if you live around the corner. This awe mouth filling sandwich will rival any top critiques list of "City's Best". Look out Monkey Bar, this sandwich is not to be taken lightly. The croquette's, are simply mind blowing, they are crispy, creamy and possess an unbelievable smokey filled flavor. We celebrated a birthday at the Paris Bar over lunch recently. Price point is New York reasonable. It is an unpretentious, clean, beautiful space full of colorful wall art. Our server, Cullen was attentive and pleasant. I ordered hot tea with my meal. Unfortunately, the teapot water was not very hot and the tea bag leaves hardly colored, much less flavored the steeping liquid. I let Cullen know, and he took care of it. I ordered the seasonal Autumn Salad with a medium done salmon fillet. It was large, and flavorful. Loved the texture variant addition of almond halves too. J'ai tellement de choses à dire....After falling in love with the food and atmosphere here earlier this year, my return visit last night was a major letdown. The restaurant has shifted away from what made it special toward a generic global menu, and the amazing moules frites are gone.The salmon en croûte lacked flavor, and the branzino was mediocre at best. While the tuna tartare was tasty and the Kir Royale was enjoyable, the overall experience didn't justify the price. They even charge extra for bread now, serving an awkwardly large, unsliced piece with ordinary butter. Sadly, it is no longer the standout Paris spot it used to be. read more

This place is so pretty inside, full of art and colors. The waiters were great and the menu was clean. The almond croissant was very good and the eggs Norwegian with smoked salmon was probably one of the best Benedict I've had in quite some time with a perfectly poached egg. We ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict ($27), the French Dip ($32), and a mimosa. The flavors were fine, but nothing stood out. The salmon portion on the Benedict was surprisingly stingy, and the French Dip arrived very rare and quite red. When I asked about it, I was told that's simply how they serve it, which might appeal to some, but it wasn't to my taste. The only thing I genuinely enjoyed was the French fries. We stayed at the hotel where this restaurant is located, so this was a very convenient spot for my husband and I to dine when we were in NYC recently. We stopped in for lunch and got the burger and chicken clubs. Both were so tasty! And the fries were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of salt. We received our food quickly and had no issues at all. They also have a large drink menu, which seemed a little too pricey for me, but I appreciated the huge selection of wines and cocktails. read more

This review is only for the bar as my party of 5 walked in at 5pm on a Saturday evening. It was our pre-dinner happy hour and we were so glad we decided on Paris bar. The bar area was spacious with high ceilings, classy decor and a relaxing vibe. The bar was empty when we went and we were seated right away. We each ordered a drink and oysters to share. I'm not a drinker so I ordered the Ghia which was 1 of 2 of their non alcoholic options. The citrusy yuzu flavor was very refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day. My friend who ordered their lychee blossom said it was amazing and ordered a second. The oysters were fresh and plump. You can choose between east and west coast. We opted for half and half and I thought both had the briny and umami taste although I do prefer the west coast more as it has a nice creamy aftertaste. It's $26 for half dozen and $50 for 2 doz n. I thought the price was reasonable given its nyc. The bar tender was very friendly and patient with us. Went here for dinner during restaurant week. Started with a mojito which was made with fresh mint. The food was amazing. I had the goat cheese croquettes as an appetizer. They were very crispy, filled with delicious goat cheese filling and complemented with honey. A wonderful start. My main course was salmon over spinach and mushrooms. The salmon was cooked to a perfect medium (very pink throughout). Skin was mostly crispy (a little less so in the thick side). Finished it off with profiteroles which were absolutely delicious. I stayed at Le Méridien on a business trip, and I ate at Paris Bar multiple times. Ambience was so cute with unmistakable Parisian flare. I had breakfast twice. The apple pastry and cinnamon pastries were delicious. I absolutely loved the smoked salmon and the avocado toast was very good as well. For dinner, I had a dirty martini was made perfectly. What a find! Perfect for before an event at Carnegie Hall, City Center, or just a stroll on Fifth Avenue. I celebrated my birthday there and they could not have been nicer! Chef George came out to wish me well. The food is delicious. Everyone got something different and all were very pleased. And then came dessert - the Sundae Royale! Ice cream with chocolate sauce, whipped cream AND surrounded by Oreo bits, cherries, little marshmallows, m&ms, etc. to top it off as you wish. It took 3 of us to finish it. Paris Bar is EXCELLENT. The ambiance is so eclectic yet classy. There is art all over the walls from different genres giving people a small art room showcase as they dine. The white tablecloth restaurant has efficient servers and is well staffed. I was surprised to see that there were not many guests dining lunch. However, they had live music for an hour during lunch. Review Paris Bar To enter this restaurant, don't be confused. The big double doors you see are not the entrance ! Surprise though, you can enter through the lobby or you can use the smaller door to the left. Inside, the ceilings are high and the decor shiny. There was a private party in the back so most of the restaurant was closed off. In the front room there were tables and a bar. It was nice, but there was a television in that room. It did not have volume, so it was not very disruptive. It just wasn't what you'd expect for a nice meal out. We started with a glass of red wine and the spicy margarita. The margarita came with a fresh slice of jalapeño and had a nice kick to it. I had my sights set on the onion soup and it did not disappoint. The light, fluffy pasty top created a nice presentation. It also served very well as a bread to break up and enjoy with the soup. The soup itself had delicious flavor and was rich, melted cheese added a brilliant flavor and it was a generous portion. We shared this along with the Moules Frites. The mussels were served in a pot which was uncovered with the presentation. The lid served as your shell bowl. Served in a white wine sauce with lamb sausage and harissa, we did not leave a bite. It also came with a generous slice of wheat sourdough which gave you the perfect side to eat them with and obviously fries! From here, we were feeling a bit full so we decided to split the Beef Bourguignon. The meat was incredibly tender with a rich flavor. Served in a small pan there were whipped potatoes on top that had been browned perfectly. And in the center, a bit of thyme and rosemary infused bone marrow which was amazing! Compliments to Chef Rallis To round out our meal we had a plate of mousse. It was served at the table from basically two old school ice cream buckets, some chocolate along with what we believe was whipped cream. A new spot that recently opened--I'd been wanting to check it out, and we finally decided to go for lunch yesterday. We loved it! We didn't make a reservation, but since it was a Monday and not too busy, we were seated immediately. The restaurant's interior is beautifully designed--cozy, elegant, and complemented by subtle French music in the background. Service was great, and the food arrived relatively quickly. Here's what we ordered: * Tuna Tartare for appetizer to share - Beautiful presentation and fresh fish. It came with crispy tortillas, which were a bit salty but paired well with the unsalted fish. Great balance! * Moules Frites for my main - A classic done right. The mussels were drenched in a buttery, flavorful white wine sauce, and the merguez lamb pieces added a nice depth. The fries were delicious with aioli, though my boyfriend found the aioli a bit salty. The sauce was plentiful and packed with flavor--it was perfect for dipping the complimentary bread. * Salmon Wellington - My boyfriend got this for the main dish, and it was excellent. The sauce was flavourful, while the puff pastry added a touch of sweetness that worked beautifully. It's not bad, just not really worth trying it. The croissant french toast is bruleed on top, sitting in a pool of crème anglaise. Looks pretty, but very sweet and cloying. The "fresh pressed" orange juice is not truly fresh squeezed - it's just regular orange juice, pasteurized, like Tropicana. read more

I had the $34 salad & steak frites for lunch. The salad greens were reasonable but the dressing was bland and there was grit in the salad. Someone did not wash the greens enough. The steak portion was reasonable for the price but the meat was a little tough. The steak sauce itself was cloyingly sweet and rather disgusting tasting. I am sorry I did not taste it before putting it on my steak. The fries were reasonably good. The $18 glass of Malbec was also of a reasonable size and taste.
