As a gluten-free girlie, I was so pleasantly surprised by Casa Louie. All of their small plates are gluten-free, along with most of their main dishes, which is such a win! I ordered the chicken parmesan and wow...it was absolutely delicious. Even my mom tried it and couldn't tell the difference! We also shared the burrata with pistachio pesto, which I highly recommend. Back in the city, and looking forward to this experience. The Gluten Free Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza was just as I remembered. Pillowy crust, crunchy on all of the pan edges, stretchy cheese, soft layers of meat draped over the tomatoes, topped generously with my favorite peppery green. I had to order the olives again, too. Meaty colorful olives with subtle heat, fresh herbs, and an ever-so delicate orange essence from the tiny peel segments. Everything perfect. And I need to give props to Emiliano. He handled the mid afternoon (and growing) crowd with perfection. The drinks and food were delicious. One member of our party was gluten free and said the pizza he got was delicious. No complaints on the service. We tried the cheese pizza (can't remember the name), the spicy square gluten free pasta, and the eggplant Parmesan. We also all split a dessert which I could have done without. Visited here for restaurant week and it did not disappoint. They were accommodating and made me a Caesar salad without anchovies and it was delicious. The crispy cheese on top added the perfect amount of texture and saltiness to the salad. I got the Hot Louie Sicilian without pepperoni and this was also delicious. I had no idea that this restaurant has been open for about a year now, because I used to walk up and down this avenue when I lived in the area a couple years ago! It is apparently owned by the same people who own Friedmans, which is just a couple blocks away. Our server was named Ben, and he was nice and attentive. He helped us make sure that we had napkins to eat our pizza, and he also was really good about making sure that our waters were always full. I also just loved his energy in general. It's quite nice and cozy inside while also feeling pretty modern. There's two bathrooms, which are clean and spacious. I ordered the Hot Louie, which was good, but I do wish that I had even more hot honey drizzled on the pizza. My friend got a vodka pie, which was delicious. For dessert, both of us shared the chocolate lava cake, but note that it is gluten-free so it might not taste as molten as you're used to. read more

I've only tried the shrimp Caesar salad and it was one of the worst Caesar salads I've ever had from a restaurant. Though the menu advertises breadcrumbs, there were none to be seen. The whole thing had a weird bitter aftertaste, probably because whoever made the dressing didn't know what they're doing. The jumbo shrimp it came with were very good though, perfectly cooked. This place is such a gem -- great vibes and a great place if you're looking for gluten free options! We tried the Upside Down and Hot Louie, both on gluten free square crusts, and both were delicious. They were hot, crispy, flavorful, & great portion size. The owner of the restaurant was also super nice. He came out to greet us & we chatted about my being gluten free & he ended up topping up our wine glasses on the house! Hell yes! If in the area do come here. I was staying nearby and came for a lazy Sunday dinner. Sat at the bar and received amazing service. They were rather busy and saw a lot of big parties coming. Also a few locals hanging at the bar for a drink or two and then leaving. The service was top notch. I got the gnocchi with the chicken and it was chefs kiss. I am going to speak only to the pizza, I've had 2 types; and the salad. Let me rave about the salad. Then the pizza. Then caution the majority of us about the gluten free. Gluten free crust. I was lucky enough to arrive when they had happy hour so they offered $10 glasses of wine. I started with the gluten-free Caesar salad and will say it was a bit salty. My friends ordered the calamari and loved it. We shared the pizza and it was so delicious especially if you order their homemade ranch on the side to dip. My friend ordered the shrimp pasta, which was supposed to be a scampi, but it was not exactly that flavor palette so she didn't enjoy it. They were super accommodating to her and offered to give her something else instead or take it off the bill, which was very nice of them. I really enjoyed Casa Louie! We walked in with no reservation on a Thursday around 5:30 and were able to be seated right away. By the time we left it was full! The staff was super friendly and efficient. We started out with the Spiced Olives and the Calamari and both were great. The Calamari was perfectly crispy and came with pepers so it was slightly spicy, which we really enjoyed. The olives weren't overly pickled and had a nice smooth flavor. For our main we got the Sicilian Style Vodka Pie. I expected it to be spicy, but it wasn't spicy and more on the sweet side, overall it was delicious. We asked for extra parmesan which I expected out of a shaker but it was ground in front of us! We also got the Shrimp Scampi and the pasta was al dente and the shrimp well cooked, with a light flavor. We got the broccolini on the side and thought it was perfectly cooked and delicious. For desert we tried the vanilla gelato, without any toppings, and enjoyed how creamy it was. Overall I enjoyed this place and will be coming back. Note for GF/celiacs: a lot of the menu is or can be GF. The waiter was very knowledgeable & explained that the kitchen is a shared space but they have a separate preparation area and separate utensils for the GF items. The oven is shared with regular pizza but the GF pizza is cooked separately on its own tray. We had beet & burrata salad, mushroom pizza & carbonara pasta and it was all *excellent*. The pizza dough is made in house from Californian GF flour mixed with buckwheat flour and it's a lot like focaccia. It's phenomenal!! So excited to eat this. No side effects.
