This is a very well-stocked, well-maintained, and well-organized Marshalls' location. While my wife was looking for a couple of items she specifically needed, I walked over to the men's section and ended up buying a couple of activewear items I hadn't been looking for but could use, which were offered at a very good price. One was a package of a dozen well-known brands of athletic socks for almost 50% less than what I had seen in other stores. I had a brief interaction with one of the associates, and she was very helpful in finding what I was looking for in another section. Altogether, a very positive shopping experience. read more

This is a very well stocked Marshalls where my kiddos were able to find some items they needed for the upcoming summer weather. Well stocked and pretty neat. I was able to walk around and not feel like I couldn't find what I wanted. The parking is also pretty ample. read more

I don't love this location very much. Parking is pretty hard to find in this plaza. Inside is pretty messy and hard to shop through. The lines are OK though not too long. I feel like every time I'm here, I don't find a lot of things that I'm interested in buying. read more

If you encounter Matthew at the register, don't expect any type of customer service. Not even help in making sure as he rings things out that they are accessible for you to bag. He just stood there as I packed all my things with their own reusable bags. Then as I bagged everything, he made faces of not wanting to be here...so maybe it's time for a new job. Horrible customer service. While standing in line, out of the 7 cashiers, only two were providing friendly customer. The rest were expressing how they didn't want to be there and annoyed with "everyone". Here's a tip for you unhappy workers, YOU put in the application to work here. I've been coming to this location for years and despite the area, it's still pretty safe. It makes it a convenient place to visit and browse since there are other stores that I like in the same plaza. Staff is friendly and there's a variety of things to find. The layout of the store is pretty spread out and organized. I'm usually able to find what I'm looking for at a fair price and good quality. read more

I found a small flower arrangement with a discounted price on the clearance aisle and another one without the discount. They were both in excellent conditions so I don't know why one of them had the red sticker discount. At checkout I asked the cashier if the 2nd one could be discounted too, and she asked a woman (who I asummed is a manager). Turned out it was a mistake discounted sticker on one of the items. I decided to leave both items and as I walked out with my other items I heard the "manager" tell the cashier I had purposely placed the sticker and that many people do that. Like seriously? That is a lie! There is also another hispanic man who I suspect is also a supervisor, he lets it be known that you are an inconvinience to him. As a hispanic woman I go as far as saying that he treats me poorly because he thinks I don't speak English. Both times he has checked me out I have to go to him because he wont push that button that tells you who is available, he just stares and asks me in spanish how I am paying. He then goes to annoyingly hit the buttons on his register. He has absolutely no customer service basics. Just plain rude. He is very unproffesional and how he has a leadership role with his behavior is beyond me. read more

The manager Israel was rude and unprofessional. Items in the store are torn apart, & all over the place.. they had duct taped wrapped around hangers that obviously was dropped on the floor & returned by another customer but me being who I am I felt the need to buy them because the business is slow anyways, so I asked for a discount bcs it really did look bad by the way they taped it up & he gave me the RUDEST RESPONSE AND DIDNT EVEN BOTHER SMILING AS HE WALKED UP TO THE CASH REGISTER. After shopping for what I needed and more, I was approached by store employee for assistance. I explained there were pants I thought I bought but realized after I purchased the rest of my things it wasn't included and I left it somewhere in the store. Eventually rung up the pants I mentioned and sensed this man was insinuating I didn't pay for them. Following that, my hearing disabled mother was walking towards the door as this man begins yelling "girls.. your water. Your water. Your water" Mind you my sister and I were done paying. If I could give this place zero stars, I would this is the second that I shop at this location so the first time I let it go I am a Hispanic female. I usually shop at my local store, but I've had to go to the store twice and let me tell you the lady at the front of the store is absolutely amazing. She greets people and she's nice. I believe she's the security guard now as I'm shopping around it's like I have a personal shopper. There's someone always around me behind me near me and it's so obvious that they're following me. I understand that it's Emeryville and I know that there has been a lot of stuff but one I don't come to steal and I should be at peace to walk around and shop. I wear my headphones because I don't like loud sounds but again if somebody is staring at me or says something, I wear them low enough to still be able to hear people. I usually spend $100-$200 in the stores every time I go in and especially because I'm going on a trip. The lady at the cashier was really nice, but the one I was following me throughout the store made me so uncomfortable literally went to every department that I went to from the beginning, beginning to the end and make sure that that I still had the that I picked up and put in my shopping cart. Needless to say if you're going to be following somebody around, don't make it so obvious because you went from the JUNIOR section to the dress section to the men's section near the dressing room when I went to go try on my clothes which I know you're going to pat down every single item that I put on the rack for you to count you then follow me to the purse section. It's so disgusting and it's not fair for the people that just want to shop around at peace. read more

I can't comprehend why this Marshall's only has a 3 star review. IMO, this store is always fully stocked with treasures and customer service including security are the most friendliest out of the 3 Marshall's I've shopped at out here in the east bay area. I rather drive several miles more to shop at the Emeryville store instead of going to the El Cerrito, which I am only a few miles away from. read more

Horrible experience here today, definitely not coming back. This was my first time visiting this Marshalls and it will be my last. Customer service is non existent. I had to wait 30 minutes to receive a receipt for my purchase. Instead of using their heads to figure out the problem and fix it they just stand there apologizing. Definitely not a store for 2XL men either, could not find a lot in mens clothes in my size. Im willing to try other Marshalls but this one has left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

Post-holiday shopping clutter. At least that's what I'm blaming the mess on. There wasn't one aisle that wasn't cleaned up properly, there was always something on the floor or things which didn't belong. But the bargain pricing on their products are still legit. Hubbers and I found a few things we can use at home. So if you're one with the ability to overlook the clutter, you might just be able to score a few things for the right price. There is nothing here that sets this particular Marshalls location apart from other Marshalls stores. I have frequented this location often since I used to live nearby, and I have noticed that the general state of the store reflects that of a pendulum swing. There are days when the store is in complete disarray, and others when the store is so clean that it might have won the Cleanest Marshalls Location award. Then again, the cleanliness might totally depend on the days and times I choose to go to Marshalls. Lately, though, this Marshalls has upheld its orderly conditions and its workers appear to have gotten friendlier! On the flip side, the size small and extra small section for women here is sparse. =/ read more

Always well-stocked with nice clothing brands and plenty of home accessories! It's really hard for me to come here and leave with just one thing! The store itself is pretty clean and not super crowded, although the check-out lines can get quite long during the weekends. Staff are kind and helpful. They currently have a large assortment of holiday gift sets and chocolates, so this is a great place to start your Christmas shopping! They also have larger pieces of furniture from time to time, such as desks and chairs. I also noticed they carry larger area rugs, such as the Loloi brand which can be pricey in the retail world. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would!! Had three worst experience with the " assistant store manager" PAUL!!!! I had purchased a bed in the bag from the Pleasant Hill store.. got it home to Oakland and noticed it was used. I immediately returned to the Emeryville store. We got to the cash wrap and I explained what had happened. PAUL after looking at the set nonchalantly told me that he could not return the set because it had been washed!!! And that they didn't accept damaged merchandise!! Wtf Mind you it's only obvious we could not have purchased got home washed and returned the set in less than an hour but PAUL obviously thought otherwise. I asked for the manager he points to his badge with pride and no dignity apparently to say he was the manager. (Which I now know he's the assistant manger he's also a liar!) I was so furious i calls the Pleasant Hill store in front of him to ask the policy. And confirm if he was in fact correct , the MANAGER there tells me NO. but each store has its discretion. Now I'm really furious because I feel like I'm being racially profiled against. Due to the fact that he had absolutely no reason to NOT RETURN something we had bought from their store and had a receipt to verify purchase date time etc. I take the set back to pleasant hill store, get my money back with no issues. This morning I call customer service and again I'm told PAUL was inaccurate with his policy information and I should NOT have had to drive an additional 30 mins to return ANYTHING!!!! This is the type of behavior that should NOT BE TOLERATED!!! And I will not stop until something is done about this!!!!!! No MAN, WOMEN or indifferent should be treated with such injustice because of ANYTHING!! And Paul you sir will NOT be able to treat ANOTHER person like this because of some title that you obviously DO NOT DESERVE when I'm done complaining!!!!! read more

You know..Marshalls is Marshalls..and if you're looking for a deal and at times a "One-time-wear-dress" for clubbing or whatnot..this is probably the place you'll find it. It replaced the old Circuit City that used to be here before it closed sometime in 2009. Marshalls is great for the following: 1. Shoes - Shoe selection here is great! They had a lot of the new ones and actually have my size!! (5.5 - 6) Yayyy! 2. Dresses - I come here for dresses that I want for cheap. I haven't found a single dress here that I've liked just yet.. If they could update the selection here more frequently that would be awesome! *hint* :)The Walnut Creek Marshalls is where I've been the most successful for clothing. 3. Home Section is definitely smaller than a lot of other Marshalls I've been to. They have a few good essentials though..Shower curtains and shower curtain hooks..but it is too small for me. I like MORE! Nothing to really speak of in terms of furniture either.. :( read more

I have not seen a marshalls that didn't have enough women's dresses/clothes. Most of these clothes are for work out or for your grandma. They have a decent selection of soaps and toiletries but that's it. Upon reaching the counter, the cashier told me that they ran out of shopping bags. If you are a professional taking a break from the office, don't shop the clearance section or you'll be accused by the rude and dismissive cashier line as stealing a clearance sticker. The journal I was picking up to purchase was marked down and without even an apology I was rudely told that wasn't the right price (although no one could tell me the price). Not every shopper is a criminal and sometimes "I'm sorry" and a smile are warranted. Whoever the manager is should address the attitude his staff show customers. read more

The only thing I can't seem to find in this Marshalls is a dress! They have plenty. I've tried on ALL OF THEM. But no dice. But this is a good thing, because I've found EVERYTHING else! I've bought countless tops here -- polka dot, lace, stripes, tanks, long sleeve, short sleeve, button up -- shorts, super duper hand made designer jeans, kitchen gadgets, athletic gear, nice cushy dog beds for $20 a piece... ugh, I mean it's endless. I shouldn't be allowed in this store anymore. There can be a long line for the fitting room on weekends and some of the doors don't close... but no worries, you can just prop it shut with your butt! Or do what I do and wave the person behind you ahead and hold out for a, uh, functional room. This is a decent store, much better, IMHO, than Ross at the other end of the parking lot because it is a bit neater and the lines tend to be shorter. Interesting story. I am at the checkout paying for my stuff: two white ceramic platters, and a few other do-dads. I ask the checkout gal to wrap the platters in "several" pieces of paper instead of just the one that she seemed to be doing. She looked at me like I was Linda Blair with my head rotating and yuck coming from my mouth. "What's wrong?", I ask, as she is carefully counting the number of papers to wrap my stuff. "You want several?" "Yeh, just 3 or 4", I say. But you said 'several', which means 7" she says. "No, just a few, several", I say, feeling confused and a bit bad that she is counting still. "But 'several is 7'", she insists, as she then turns to an associate to complain about me, even saying to her associate, "I'll tell you later." Well, I give this Marshalls several stars, but alas, can't give it "several" since the max is 5. 3 stars, since I bet the ones in the 'burbs are even better. read more
