MOST ORGANIZED (3.75 stars) ... Marshalls that I have ever walked into! You know you old and adulting when you shop at Marshalls. LOL. I come here to 1) look for organizing stuff for the home 2) kids gifts. We all know Marshall's is a store full of random everything and people come digging at these stores making messes. This one is the most organized Marshall's I have ever walked in. All items were grouped together with like items (you often don't see that), less crowded and workers are actually working and making the inventory presentable. It was way easy to find things that I was looking for and found a lot of organizing containers that aren't cracked nor having missing pieces. I also found great finds for kids (xmas shopping early) because all the good stuff gets emptied out near holidays. I found scooters for kids for a very good price - these often go very fast and they actually did. Kid gift hunting made easy. Although I no longer have my dog, I see so many affordable dog items here that I buy and donate or give to homeless people with pets that I come across on the street. Worth a stop in to shop. read more

Marshalls - Department Stores Near Me - San Diego, California

Honestly was not sure about this location, but heard that it underwent construction and was "revamped". My friend and I were initially pleasantly surprised by the interior as it looked cleaner and newer. Things went south pretty quickly. We tried on a few items and there was a 10 item limit. This is reasonable; I know stores sometimes do this. There were two women working the dressing rooms, and one of the women counted out 12 items for my friend. She accidentally sorted his stack into 9 items and separated 3 out for him to try later (once he came back out). She still gave him a tag that said he had 10 items, not 9. When he came out, the other woman had taken over running the dressing room and started berating him once she saw that his tag didn't match the number of items he had. He started to explain that it was probably a mistake with the woman who was working before, as he had 12 items total and there was a stack of 3 waiting for him. She said it was his responsibility to make sure the numbers matched and kept asking if he left any items in his dressing room. At this point we're telling her it's not his responsibility as he doesn't work here and isn't paid to do so. She should talk to the other woman who was working. We start to leave and she starts insisting he try on the other 3 items that were left. Seriously insane. We're fed up and no longer in the mood to purchase anything, much less go back into the poorly ventilated, muggy dressing rooms. If I wanted to be lectured, I'd visit my mom. Overall this is a great location. It's clean, great items, well stocked, organized, and the staff are really friendly. They also staff up well so the lines don't take forever. The only issue I have is they HEAVILY push the credit cards on you. It's actually unlike anything I've experienced. Saying no thanks isn't enough. I've had some people continue to push it the entire time I check out. It makes me incredibly uncomfortable and I've started dreading checking out. read more

Very impressed by The Sales Associate's!! They have a difficult job because of juggling not only customer's purchasing, but doing multiple returns in store and online. Many customer's do not have all their receipts organized, prior to entering the counter. I observed this while waiting in line. Amazing how patient, The Sales Associate's were with helping the customer find the right receipt, for all their items!!!!!! This is where it is a teachable moment in helping the wonderful customer's, to match up their returns, before they get to the store. Thank you to all people working in retail, they have a difficult job!! Wanting to please all their customer's.....who have to wait in line. Some will be in a hurry and want to get in and out. Went on an 8:30pm on a Friday night. There were two people working, one was with a customer working through a large purchase, so there was really only one person getting through the line. He was trying to get everyone through quickly, so when I went up I told him something to that effect, which was supposed to be a compliment. He must have took it the wrong way because he handed me the receipt and said "Dont let the door hit you..." then stopped because he knew what he was saying. Well, so much for trying to be nice. I've been a loyal Marshall's customer for over 30 years. Today's experience is the only time I've felt so insulted and abused by a store employee that I felt the need to write a review. I usually go to the La Jolla store, where I live, but I happened to be in this area. After 3 hours in the store, I went to check out, when I realized shoes in a box were not the size on the box. I told the other ladies in line that I would be right back, go ahead if my turn is up. I literally was gone for TWO MINUTES! MAYBE LESS! and a store employee started putting all of my items back! Hours and hours of shopping! I was so upset and frustrated! The employee was confrontational and defensive and humiliating me in front of the other customers. He put most of the stuff back but I'm so sad. I don't know why I just spent over $300 there after being treated this way. So so sad. read more

I purchased a top from the Mission Valley store and was retuning at this location but since they don't "carry that brand" they wouldn't return it... Have you ever heard of that at Marshall's? The customer service was nonexistent, and I feel like I was treated differently because the way I look. Nice employees. Service was not bad, just reeaally slow. That may be a problem with customers in line as much as the team trying to check them out. But Parking is tight, the store felt messy compared to other Marshall's. No specific reason to bag on it too much but it took 20 minutes to return items with a receipt in hand, so if you can pick another Marshalls in town I'd say go elsewhere. read more

Covid review #82 I really like this place. The people are friendly, the place is clean and they do a good job of having hand sanitizer and cleaning but they also understand that for certain people with medical issues, that masks aren't an option for them, so they don't make anyone feel bad or prohibit them from shopping if they cannot wear a mask. CDC says who should not wear a mask: "Masks should not be worn by Children younger than 2 years old Anyone who has trouble breathing Anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance Wearing masks may be difficult for some people with sensory, cognitive, or behavioral issues. If they are unable to wear a mask properly or cannot tolerate a mask, they should not wear one, and adaptations and alternatives should be considered" I appreciate that this place understands and accommodates special needs. Mask wearing is between someone and their doctor; if someone doesn't mask it's obviously a private and personal decision. So, I prefer this place over other stores where I can get similar items. read more

I stopped in on a whim when I wasn't happy with the prices and selection of Mens wallets at Target. I didn't see anyone working the floor At no point was it ever acknowledged that I was in the store. Nor did anyone poont me in the direction of mens wallets. While on my search for a wallet I did see lots of cool gadgets and nic nacks and such. Non of which I bought as I try not to be an impulse shopper. Most noteable was a pair of boxing gloves very similar to a pair I bought in the early 70's. And about the same price I paid back then. Based on my experience today it is highly unlikely that I'll ever return. I can't and won't recommend this store to anyone. I should have went to Wal Mart and saved myself the hastle. read more

This was my first and last time at this Marshall's. I had to return something and I was already in the area running other errands. My receipt got trashed so I took a picture of it so I wouldn't have to carry around a slop of paper (it was still legible). I tell the cashier that I'd like to return and that I have a picture of the receipt - she SNAPS at me and says she can't return without a receipt so I show her my phone, she says I need to have it physically there. I said look - it's WET and DIRTY, you want me to bring this in?! She calls over her supervisor who says, it's not even a picture of what they need, she needs a picture of the bottom so I slide to the next picture and WAH-LAH, a picture of the bottom and the barcode. With that not being good enough, they call the manager who then scans the code & gives me my return. LIKE, WTF WAS ALL THAT EVEN ABOUT?! My normal Marshall's have helped me with a lot less. They were looking for any and every reason not to help me. Even tried to give me flak about the date and I bought it last week. TRASH customer service. read more

I like shopping at Marshalls from time to time. It's usually a hit or miss for me. But I can say that they always have a huge selection of clothes, and a little bit of something here for everyone. Whether it be kids, adults, pets, gifts, household items, accessories, shoes, etc. After digging through many racks of clothes, you may find some really good quality pieces of clothing at the right price you would like to pay. Sometimes i would find name brand items at a fraction of the costs which is awesome. The whole store is a huge mixture of discounted items, so its more of like a treasure hunt! read more

I love the store. Everything about it from staff, to selection, to location, to the cleanliness of the store. Been coming here for years and will continue to. One star off for poor professionalism by the evening manager David Who proceeded to follow me around the store after the store close to make sure I went straight to the cashier.... Even in the checkout line when I stopped to look at the items they have having there he continues in a very condescending manner "ma'am"! It would not bother me if I was asked to go pay, but to be followed around the store then continuing to stand in front of me as I pay and check out was very uncomfortable. Not to mention I was struggling with my special 4 year old child, but I do the best with my kid in public. But those in management should hold their opinions with their tone to themselves. I usually got to the Marshalls in Mira Mesa, but this one was nearby and I will say it is MUCH more organized! It's beauty section has things neatly labeled. They still have ELF, Purity, Bobby Brown and a lot of other beauty brands. I love their Moose Munch and everything still hasn't gone up in price yet!! I definitely like this Marshall's. Items were easy to find. The even carry plus sizes and a wide variety of shoes. As I walked around, I saw small sections of clothing for girls and boys. Toys were organized. My daughter found a Troll book with figurines. I found her a shirt for $4.50. I didn't find anything for me. I prefer Ross for my clothes. They also carry housewares, men's clothing and so much more. I definitely enjoyed my shopping experience here. I will eventually buy a Michael Kors bag one of these days. I saw a black one I liked. Checking out at the cashier was easy. They were quick and efficient which made the line go faster. At one point the line was long but it went fast. QUITE an improvement from my initial review. The store was SUPER clean and even more organized. it was miraculous. I had some free time so I decided to 'pop' in again and see if there was anything in Marshalls I couldnt live without. Ugh. There was which is great for those of us who are UNEMPLOYED. Whoops. I found the most beautttttiful black and white comforter set that was half off the regular price. Awesome. I also found a super cute Betsey Johnson bag I had to have. It was a must, dont argue. AND I found the bf some super cute underpants. Hes kind of a schmancy fella and doesnt care for Hanes boxer shorts so I have to resort to Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Ross for his fancy 2xist drawers. They always have really good ones for at least half off. Sweet. I always wonder...they have ltitle bags of 'gourmet' cookies and gag me looking candies. Does anyone ever buy those and have they caused any fatalities? Because serious, the gummy worms I always see there look radioactive or something. Never a good time! Happy Sunday! read more

This place is still consistent with the other times I've been here, and my previous review of this place is still relevant. This time, we were shopping for a gift for a friend. We looked for a full-size comforter, and we found a nice selection of decent to good quality ones. To make things even better, we had shopped at Fashion Valley Mall prior to arriving here, and the prices here were significantly lower. There was a fear that we wouldn't be able to find anything here, but it turns out that we should have come here first, as most similar items and equivalents tend to be more expensive. One of the employees named Leah was great. She asked if this was a gift, and we said yes. So she proceeded to add gift paper along the brim of the gift bag and made it look festive. Our birthday friend was very happy with what she saw. I'm still trying to find all the bad stuff about this place, like the bad service some are claiming. I absolutely suck at finding that stuff. It makes me feel inadequate. If it isn't there, stop saying that it is! read more

I really don't know how best to grade this store. I don't go to Marshall's much; I have much better luck at Kohl's and Macy's (on sale, of course!) It happened that an errand I ran was to a place right next door to a Marshall's and I do need an outfit for an upcoming work function, so I took the leap and went on in. I actually found what I was looking for almost immediately. Issue #1 arose when I went to the fitting room. Unlike the vast majority of my fitting room-related problems, this one had nothing to do with sizing of the clothes. This time it had to do with odor. I have no idea what I was smelling, but it was sour and extremely unpleasant. On that basis alone, I don't think I'd come back to this store. Issue #2 arose when I got in line to pay. We will actually divide Issue #2 into #2A and #2B. #2A was the excessively long wait in line. This didn't seem to be due to any incompetence on the part of the clerks; it seemed like more of a scheduling fail. There were only 3 clerks on. I did hear one of the clerks call for backup and another told her that the person she was calling wasn't available. The manager may have already been running a register, but if that was the case, she was even shorter-staffed than I realized (it was only female cashiers) and if it wasn't the case, then s/he should have been helping out. Readers of my past posts will not be surprised to find out Issue #2B was that the a/c appeared not to work in the front of the store, where the registers are. I was comfortable enough whilst browsing the clothing racks and also didn't notice a lack of a/c in the dressing rooms (although with that stench, who would have?) I waited in the checkout line for at least 20 minutes, getting hotter and sweatier by the moment. No a/c= bad. Very very bad. So how do I fairly credit this Marshall's (located in the Target Center west of I-805) for having courteous employees, well organized displays and actually having something appropriate in my size while also acknowledging the combined sensory assault between whatever was going on near the dressing rooms and the lack of air conditioning in the checkout area? I didn't dare visit the restroom; I was afraid I might gag if it smelled in there, too. If half stars existed, this store would definitely fall smack in the middle with 2.5. It was a successful shopping trip, except for when it wasn't. read more

Okay this might be a little creepy, but can I just live here? After my friend introduced me to the greatness of Marshall's, I've been addicted!! This is one of my favorite locations. We have a few Marshalls back at home, but this location is just so organized. I always find more than what I need, spending more than what I want to (only because I keep adding to my basket). I can never leave this store empty handed! It was here where I opened up my Marshalls credit card! -_- Love the great deals, and love the friendly staff! This Marshall's has one of the largest Rae Dunn collections I've ever seen.. The store is pretty nice things are laid out decently well. But I do find that it is kind of small, and even though there's a lot of stuff I didn't really find a lot that I liked. But that is totally dependent on everyone's style. they have a really great household goods section and their furniture section is cute. I did come home with three shirts and a pair of shorts so it wasn't a loss by any means. I didn't wait in line for longer than two minutes and the girls at the counter were very friendly read more

Marshalls - Mmmmmmm these are over $30 candles for $12.99 - Department Stores Near Me - San Diego, California

Don't judge me just because I shop here. Not everyone can afford a Louis Vuitton item by the full price, especially for those like myself who enjoy raiding the clearance sections at a Banana Republic outlet store. There is no way am I going to spend $4000 on a slinky sheet of cloth when it should be priced at a mere $4. The Genesee Marshalls is conveniently located across from Ralph's and minutes away from my residence. After my usual grocery binge, I find myself making way to this place. Or when I am bored out of my mind and tired with scratching my ass watching TV, this is the place to be. It sure kills a lot of my time. And money. In contrast to the branch in La Jolla, this location is a tad more disorganized; the glamor factor is definitely lacking. If you are into that whole presentation thing, try the La Jolla one. Most of the clothes here are mislabeled and put in the wrong sections. Many a times I find an extra-large shirt hung on a hanger labeled "extra small." Nice try Marshalls, though it might offend some of our friends in the community. Consistent to Christy R.'s review, I find the discounted price not much different from the original. Sometimes the bargain is good, sometimes not so good. On good days, I find myself struggling with limiting down to the purchase of 2 and not 10 items. On bad days, I walk out with nothing after having spent nearly 30 minutes browsing. Good buys: 1. $6 Calvin Klein pillow--well, according to my European friend anyway. 2. $15 Zara heels. Not-so-good buys: 1. $3.50-$4.00 for hand soap. 2. $49.00 for a defective blazer. Since it is convenient, I choose to frequent this place. They have remodeled the shoe section, making the place more appealing. Also, I have not had any problems with the service received here. At the end of the day, a part of me still believes that a discount is a discount, no matter how much. If you can look past the messiness, this place might work for you too. read more

I really want to like this location since I live so close. It is very disorganized and dirty. The associates have been very rude on multiple occasions as well. Also this isn't the first time I've come to the store during their business hours to find that they have closed early. Today I came here at 7:05 (close at 8) and the store associates kept the doors locked and looked outside. When clearly their posted hours say otherwise. Nothing is more frustrating then leaving your house to go buy something you need and finding out they decided to close early. Watched 3 other people arrive and try entering with management looking out the doors. Severely unprofessional and won't be doing business here again. read more

Well first of all I will say this is one of my Favorites Marshalls !! Well let me start off by saying the inventory here is good compare to most others . I shop at other Marshalls but this one seems to have more of the cool stuff . Next I would say the parking at this location is the down fall !! Come here on a weekend it is impossible to find parking . But on a weekday you can sometimes find Parking . Next if you are a Bargain hunter like me trying to save a few bucks then Marshalls is the place !! You can find cool Toys here such as Action Figures and lots of others !! Also I would suggest checking there Clearance Racks you can find some Big Brands Names for less !! Such as Nike , Fila , Reebok , and others . Just take your time and look . Also They have shoes here also at a good price !! Marshalls is one place to find cool bargains at prices lower then most other stores !!! I've been going to this Marshalls since I was in middle school (maybe even younger) and I spend $$$$ every single time. So much, that I even opened up a credit card with them. Today I went to browse around and I was pretty disgusted with their manager on shift. I was purchasing sleepwear and it had grey stains on it so I asked the girl at the register to see if it can be discounted because it was the last one on the rack. She proceeded to go ask the manager which was rude and talked excessively loud for such a quiet environment. She told me that she won't give me a discount because I can go home, cut the tags off, and wash the garment. If the stain doesn't come off, I can come back to the store to return it. I thought Ross was pretty ghetto with their shoes all sprawled out all over the floor but I did not expect Marshalls to scope down to this level of rachetness. I asked the manager if that was in their policy because it's the FIRST I've heard of this and she said no but the stains will come out, as if she was an expert. I have no intentions of returning the item and why would I want to come back a second time to get a "discount" if it really didn't come off the garment?! Just doesn't make sense to me and it's extremely GHETTO. read more

Good stuff! I probably have only been here twice before. I came in yesterday and loved the things I found. They sell Michael Kors Hamilton bags here $199 for the large size and $179 for the small size. They also sell those Calvin Klein undies that are super popular right now (Y'all know what I'm talking about). I came here to find some jammies or nightgowns but I didn't find any that I liked. I did however find a leather jacket (Vegan Leather, no I'm not vegan). It was super nice and only $24.99 not bad! My last leather jacket got ruined, the leather cracked or popped... I don't know how to say it correctly lol. I always find that Marshall's has higher end brand compared to Ross, TJ Maxx or Burlington. I think we're all familiar with the Marshalls-style store. Overstocked and slightly defective items (including designer brands) are sold at a discount price. Unfortunately, it seems like the original prices of most of this store's merchandise were remarkably high, making a comparative bargain still not much of a good price. But let me tell you, Marshalls is *the* place to buy your towels. Not only this Marshalls, I suppose, but any Marshalls. My towels are thick and luxurious--I seriously receive compliments from my rare guests--and cost around six dollars each. You can also find decent sheets at good prices, though I find sheets are a little more hit-or-miss than towels. The stock in this type of store is constantly fluctuating, but they almost always have a good stock of quality towels in neutral colors. Awesome. I haven't been to this particular location in months, but I loved it when I lived in the neighborhood. Great shoes, great linens, and the sweetest transitioning teen working the register. Decently clean and organized for the genre--though the racks are still full to bursting. read more
