Had a late day at work so had to stop and grab something quick and Panera was convenient because they have a drive thru. Have been a fan of their salads and pastries in the past. Drive thru was empty so service was quick. I got the Fuji Apple Chicken salad with a baguette and an agave lemonade with no ice. At $16, what I got was definitely not worth it. The lemonade has barely any flavor and tastes like its been watered down. The salad was ok with the best part being the apple chips. I missed the fact that the salad has blue cheese which is ok in small quantities but it was too much for me. Another reason to give them only 2 stars is that some of the greens in the salad were wilted indicating the salad mix maybe had sat for awhile and the onions need to be sliced small and not rings. read more

I'm always up for lunch at Panera Bread. They have really good soups and sandwiches. I spotted this location a couple of weeks ago searching for another place. It is not that obvious as some of their locations but still just as good and laid out inside similar to the other stores. However, where to order for dine-in was not very obvious when there was no one around to ask me for my order. Eventually someone took my order and I ordered a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup and a Deli Turkey Sandwich. The soup was excellent, full of chicken and other ingredients and not so many noodles which is the way I want it. More chicken, less pasta. The sandwich was huge! Stacked tall of sliced turkey, lettuce, tomato and just a hint of mustard. Although the crust of the bread was really tough to eat. Their kettle cooked chips are really good. A lot better than grocery store brands. For dessert, I went back up and ordered a Chocolate Chip Muffin. I wasn't planning on eating the whole thing as I had already packed up half my sandwich for later and thought I would do the same with the muffin. However the muffin was so good I ended up demolishing it to just leftover crumbs. read more

Went through DT, lady took forever to greet us. I wanted a bowl of chx noodle soup because I am sick. I went to go give her my number and she told us to pull up instead. After pulling to the window, we waited over 5 minutes for this bowl (mind you, no one else in the drive thru)... I got home and saw I ended up getting a bowl of broccoli cheddar....... which I can't stand. I called the store and asked to come back and get the correct item. We leave and go back to the store. Again, waited long to be greeted because she was on her phone.. I wasn't going to write a review because 1. I'm a manager at a different Panera & 2. I get it. Mistakes happen. but I felt the need to write one since I didn't get a receipt so I couldn't put the order on my MyPanera and MAINLY because the same DT girl literally handed me the bowl of chx noodle soup by itself. No bag, no gloves on, nothing. The soups are kept at around 170°. Luckily I'm used to burning my fingers but if it were another guest, they'd probably be 10x more upset than I was. 4/4/25 Today I placed a lunch order at the drive through in Avon, Indiana. I ordered a large Greek salad with chicken. When I arrived home (40 minute drive) I was disappointed to find a small Greek salad without chicken. There had been only one car ahead of me in the drive through, so they weren't too busy. Came here to study and I think I found my new spot! Plenty of seating areas, fast internet, and service is quick and great! I ordered a large Mac n Cheese and a coke. The best part is you can sit and easily order from the app. The Mac n Cheese was too good, rich creamy cheesy goodness. Another plus is that there is a lot out front with plenty of parking! Since I had to get out into the world, I decided to treat myself to picking up one of my favorite lunches and tea. Since this pandemic began, we have been eating out very little. Mostly because we aren't leaving our home as much, but also because of concerns of getting sick. From the road, I could see there was no line. But 4 other cars pulled in at the same time I did, so I ended up with a bit of a wait. However, it was actually not to bad for Panera. The person who took my order bordered on rude and acted annoyed when I asked for my Panera rewards number to be added to my order. She said she'd get it from me at the window, but I still had to ask again when it came time to pay. She acted as if she took my number. I was expecting to have earned a free tea, but didn't. So, I logged into my account 24 hours later and nothing. What frustrates me is that she acted like she took the number and I declined a receipt, like many people are right now. So I can't just add the receipt number myself. Pretty disappointing. read more

I have tried my best to be patient with Panera in Avon. I'm not sure if it is because the food is being delivered so the feel that they can give subpar service but this has been at the 3rd ( that maybe generous) time that they have just disregarded the fact that I asked for extra and nicely at that. If you are NOT going to do it remove the option. Also the onion in my oatmeal was discussing!!! I have also tried talking with management that was no help. I just paid $14.23 for two toasted bagels (one with cream cheese), a small coffee and small hot chi latte. Pricey, but that's not my issue. There were just two customers in line ahead of me. I waited for the bagels and latte at the counter was over 15 minutes while the kitchen staff filled all the app orders and drive-through orders ... my bagels and tea were ready but sat until the "ticket" came up. The bagels were cold and had to put back in the toaster oven to reheat which made them very crunchy. The latte was lukewarm. Meanwhile, the bags they filled for pick-up were still there. GREAT, BUT.... I came to this panera to get a pastry, a drink, and a nice place to sit. The staff was incredibly friendly and the store was very clean! However, the general manager, Cass, was horrible. She was super rude to the employees who were just doing their best and being productive. She was very unkind and impolite even to customers. I was at Panera one week ago and I stood at the counter for over 4 minutes, in clear view of three workers and one manager. No one took my order, no one told me that I would be waited on in a few moments while they handled drive-thru orders, nothing. I blame both the workers and the manager, but especially the manager, who should have instructed his young employees to at least address me. This location has lost a customer; I will not shop at this Panera ever again. For the record, I drove over to the Qdoba across the street, and a very nice gentleman helped me right away. Not sure why but this location always has people working at the register who really don't want to work. I stopped coming here for awhile & tonight my kids really wanted the panera pizza. Unfortunately things have not gotten any better here. I got attitude tonight because I couldn't get the kiosk to work to do my own order. These girls just stand around at the registers doing nothing anyways so why was it so hard to take my order? I was just standing, waiting for someone to say "next" or something but nope they just stand around until I ask if they are actually open and working. The drive through is always closed which I completely understand because they are short staffed probably. Tonight they are also out of everything that I wanted to order. At 7pm this place was pretty dead barely anyone there. No pizzas of any kind, no Mac & broccoli soup. I ended up getting broccoli soup x3 and a sandwich. The chipotle chicken sandwich with avocado was made pretty good. Nobody was just standing doing nothing in the back. Worst experience I've been had through Panera. I ordered through Uber eats. The order was supposed to arrive between 30-45 minutes. After an hour i checked the app and it said still preparing order, and to call the restaurant if problems occur. So i call the restaurant and talk to the manager and he was rude and didn't seem to care. Told me he had no recollection of my order and they "probably canceled it" and that i should contact Uber eats. I contact uber eats and they tell me i need to contact Panera. So i try calling Panera 5+ times with no answer. I still have been charged with this order and no refund. And can't get in contact with anyone. And mind you this was a 47 dollar order. I then try ordering from a separate Panera and they tell me they don't have any broccoli cheddar or any baguettes. I will not be eating with Panera or using Uber eats ever again. The lentil quinoa soup is really good, I would give them 5 stars if they were not out of The French baguette. Although they substituted it with the ciabatta bread, but it's just not the same. Their ciabatta is very fluffy and fluffed up with lots of air, (probably from using baking soda,) not much real bread material left after that. The French baguette is made with more of the traditional recipes. New thing: When a plastic card is used to pay, they ask for gratuity at the register before they provide the service. I think that is a bad practice and going from no tipping to "tip blindly" is not what showing gratuity is all about. They got that wrong, it is worse than no tipping, what they had before! I don't understand what work structure they have but they are beyond slow in an unacceptable manner. Especially if you use the app to order ahead it actually ends up taking longer than if you just walked in and placed an order in store. Currently standing here for 30 minutes for 1 sandwich. One. I know Panera is just a chain restaurant but this has to be one of my favorite locations. I come here for lunch quite regularly to eat outside while the weather is nice and I am never let down. They are quick and very good about keeping the areas clear. The icing on the cake is they have wonderful customer service. They even will come out and see if I need drinks or anything during my meal. The roasted turkey, apple, cheddar sandwich is usually great, as is Panera. However, this location has let me down a couple of times. The staff is usually flustered, but willing to help. There breads and desserts are dry, and most tables aren't cleaned off. The disappointment today: NO Prickly pear tea, no apple on my sandwich and some of turkey on my sandwich wasn't cooked through. BUMMER! My husband was pleased with food & that's what saved this review today. I'm sure I'll be back because of the proximity to my house, but as soon as I find another I won't be back. The delectable Mrs Funk and I were running errands during the dinner hours so we decided to stop for a shared sandwich and salad at a Panera location we had visited before. The location is heavily used and at times, as other yelpers have posted, is...well less than adequate. We walked in at what must have been a lull as the there were plenty of cleared tables available. The young woman behind the pastry counter moved quickly to a touch screen to take our order and before i could get out the word mediterranean, she politely let us know they were out of cucumbers... "is that OK?" Annnnd... BAMM there it is! No cucumber on a sandwich that has cucumber as one of its main ingredients. Not OK, but not a showstopper. Plenty of other fine choices. But as we stood contemplating those choices, we both had the same thought...two hundred yards to the west was Meijer, plenty of cucumbers there. And if they wanted a more hoity-toity cuck, two hundred yards to the north was Fresh Thyme! The delectable Mrs Funk mentioned the obvious to the sweet young girl and after a short pause she returned, "yeah, you would think huh!" Actually kind'a funny and laugh we all did! So onward we went with a tomato mozzarella flatbread sandwich and a strawberry poppyseed salad, both $8.99 if I recall correctly. Now, time to pay the tab. So insert the chip card, but rather than a total being displayed, the electronic money sucker asked me if I would like to add a "Tip to the Staff"? Heeyyyy wait a minute, pretty sure I am going to go pick up the food myself, deliver it to the table myself, clean up and deposit the mess in the garbage bin... MYSELF! Panera is McDonalds, just all dressed up! Yeah, no tip! But pretty ballsy of the suit that thought that one up...little money sucker! In the by-and-by the delectable Mrs Funk had gone to pick out a table for our repast. While there were plenty of cleared tables there were not plenty of cleared CLEAN tables. She found the least icky spot , brushed the crumbs into an available napkin and dropped it into the nearest bin. I returned with sandwich and salad, both proving quite tasty with one exception. One of the flatbreads had nothing more than a quarter sized dollop of mozzarella. Didn't seem quite worth what I had paid. Well we're pretty easy going folk and by now the whole experience just made us laugh some more. As we ate we noticed the order line get slammed and the room filled straightaway. As folks looked for a clean table what we assumed was a store manager came out to give the empty tables a perfunctory swipe with a damp cloth. She certainly seemed harried and looked like it had been a long day. As we headed out, a visit to the restroom left me...well lets just say the room needed a good hosing down. Will we return? Only commenting on the drive thru service. The food is always good but the young girl taking orders, should either be trained more or should be in another area. Drive thru service is always super slow-about 10mins from the moment you place your order to picking it up. This can be super frustrating if you have a place to be. you would be better off going inside or to another drive thru and the orders are always wrong.
