The view is a definite "Positive"..

Hot food, not precooked cold fry's or tarter out of a jar. Server should not be folding napkins, instead of following up with customers. Ambiance couldn't be better.

Went on a Saturday night with family and had a wonderful meal! It was way too cold to enjoy the view, so that gives us another reason to head back in the warmer months. Our server was attentive and engaging. We had an opportunity to taste a whole range of appetizers- the corn bread with honey butter (it comes out in a mini cast iron pan and enough to share for 3-4 people), the nachos (probably my favorite appetizer. Would probably order this as an entree next time), shrimp cocktail (yum) and hummus (it had a nice subtle kick it to it). For my entree, I ordered the cordon bleu and it did not disappoint. Everything was cooked to perfection! Definitely looking forward to returning :).

Awesome atmosphere and views, plenty of varying seating. However, I was extremely disappointed by this restaurant. My husband and I sat at the bar, and service was not great. The bartenders did not display quality hospitality, for example just walking up to us and staring until we spoke (uncomfortable). We ordered just soft drinks, both were flat. I ordered sushi and fries. My husband got the salmon. I was disappointed with the size of the sushi dish, especially how little salmon was in the roll. It also did not taste fresh. It reminded me of sushi you can buy pre made at the grocery store. My fries tasted like they had been sitting out for a very long time. Dead cold, dry, bland, just disgusting. My husband's salmon seemed frozen and the corn salsa it laid on top of was absolutely rancid. Every time we needed something, we had to flag down a bartender. I would never eat here again. It's not worth the money, although the location is fantastic.

Inside, the view the other way of the harbor is nice.

Way too late posting this, was here months ago. Had avoided it for years, stupid me! Let's start with decor, surprising modern and Mediterranean inspired. The bar, you know me I ALWAYS sit at the bar, is spectacular. Must see, see my pictures. Love the house plants and herbs guy. Someone cares! We had minimalist flowers this day too. Bring a date and/or your parents. Romantic in an airy and watch the ocean too way. Out door seating to enjoy, Loves. They have some huge private rooms too; I can resist a door and taking a peak. Drinks and food: Can't go wrong. Comfort food as well that's a little INSPIRED. Bring anyone, should find something. Had the shrimp cocktail and made us happy. Drinks were a good pour and inspired. Beer selection good for a resort town; a lil' this and that. The staff is a team and friendly to the patrons. They are using a zone coverage method for the tables, someone is always a minute away from asking if u need something if you're not focused on the food or companions. Everyone smiled a greeting as we arrives, when going to the loo, and lefaving. Who are these happy waitrons? Really a good staff, hope they maintain the quality. The bartenders were great! I am so coming back, it eclipses our regular place. Did I mention the ocean view? A must see.

If you are looking for the perfect view on a fabulous outdoor deck, this is the spot for you! The hostess was incredible! I couldn't find my friend and I was from out of town. She was so kind and helpful! I really loved the food too. The Lobster Roll was incredible. It was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

What a lovely lunch! We got an outdoor table with minimal wait, the hostess of lovely. We had great mock tails , highly recommend the blackberry basil drink. If I could give the calamari 6 starts I would, it was excellent! Kids chicken tenders and fries was huge, my kids could have split one order with extra fries. I had a great lobster roll with HUGE chunks of meat. The ceviche was also delicious. We enjoyed watching the boats outside.

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with the family here. The dining room has terrific views and there is a beautiful circular bar that is very inviting. Everyone enjoyed their food including myself. We started with some appetizers including the fried calamari, red curry mussels, and the Korean egg roles. The fried calamari came with a sriracha aioli dipping sauce that went wonderfully with the dish making it my personal favorite of the three. For dinner I went with the braised boneless short rib. It was a serious chunk of meat! Huge portion and wonderful flavor. I would highly recommend for a family night out or even just a drink with a view.

This place blows. My sushi rice was hard. Allegedly had lobster and it was flaky and dry. New England clam Chowder was grainy and no seasoning. Way over priced for garbage food.

Party of six tonight. Three moms and our babies... we celebrated our seniors about to graduate high school! And we had THE BEST waitress around... Miss Carmen! She made our night spectacular! I would go back again just to have her as our waitress. Could not have asked for a better time. Thank you, Miss Carmen!

Would like to bring my mother here, she walks with a cane. Do you have handicapped parking and are there stairs?

We do not have onsite parking. However, in Portsmouth, street parking with a valid handicap permit is free. Our restaurant does have an elevator at the main lobby entrance.

Place great for sunset cocktails and basic appetizers. Door not good at all. Any questions?

Hi Julia, Thanks for visiting Martingale Wharf, glad you enjoyed the sunset, cocktail and appetizers. Next time you are in please let me know and we can chat . Regards, Deb Weeks -General Manager at Martingale Wharf

It's a great addition, the atmosphere is lively and youthful, and it would be good for groups (just note they don't take reservations yet). The ramen was delicious, with a rich, flavorful broth. They give you a generous amount of noodles and pork belly, enough to feel satisfied without being overwhelming. While I wouldn't come here solely for the yakitori due to the price, the ramen is absolutely worth the $20. What would have made this a five-star experience are a couple small details: The cabbage salad (Kyabetsu) would benefit from being shredded more traditionally- the larger pieces were a bit bitter and less enjoyable. Also, please please PLEASEE cut the egg in half before adding it to the ramen!!! Trying to break it into bite-sized pieces with chopsticks is awkward. It's the little things that really elevate the experience. All in all, I'd highly recommend this spot on a cold winter night. Hoping you're around for a long time!

Louie's is the best restaurant I've been to in the Portsmouth area and my new favorite!…read more It's still new and undiscovered at only around six months since opening. The restaurant interior is bright and uplifting in what appears to be a completely redesigned and reimagined space that many decades ago likely had industrial uses like a factory or warehouse. Now, it's a very modern looking restaurant. The food overall was excellent. Standouts included the halibut entree and its sauce that contained a variety of interesting mushrooms and other treats. (A separate appetizer of a very large portion of those and other fantastic mushrooms was also delicious.) The steak entree was superb, too. The salad was tasty as was the cake dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The price tag per person before tip and drinks was under $70. I felt it was definitely worth it given all the positives discussed above. I look forward to my next visit. A great place to take guests and for special occasions, too.

Really friendly, my cohort had a lot of questions on the menu and our server answered them with patience and plain language. The food was a mix. I got the Lamb on the menu and my friend got the halibut I think (I'm not a fish eater so I can't remember if he got the halibut or the trout). Positives: the lamb was exceptional. Very well cooked, perfectly seasoned, paired REALLY nicely with my hard cider. And the polenta with it was divine, quite possibly the best creamy polenta I've ever had. Negatives: the mustard greens were not very good. Very very salty and difficult to get through. And for the prices, the portions were fairly small. Neutral: the menu itself is very small. I love visiting restaurants all over and I'm usually pretty up to date on most verbiage you see in a menu. But I was pretty rusty on this one; a fair amount of terms I was unfamiliar with. Not a good or bad things per se, just something that stood out to me. All in all, it was a very nice meal with a great atmosphere, comfortable tables, and lovely staff. Would definitely come back for a second try.

We found street parking close to the restaurant so that was great while paying close attention to the fact that street parking is not free in the area until 8 pm. I made a reservation and we were seated right away after we entered the restaurant. Our table was situated on the first floor so the area was small but we had enough space between table to have a private conversation. I started out with salmon tartare and it was my least favorite of all. I found the pita to taste somewhat stale and I ended up not eating it. Salmon was good but I did not find that cream cheese added to the dish. It might be a matter of personal preference but I wished I started out with something else from the menu. My shrimp scampi was delicious and I would come back for this dish. Pasta and sauce were great and shrimp were a nice size. I then went with the beef stew. I found the pastry to be somewhat salty but it balanced with the stew that was slightly underseasoned. Maybe it was intended to be that way. It was a decent dish overall. I loved the strawberry panna cotta. Their rhubarb chutney was beautiful and the dish was a great way to end my meal. I would come back to this restaurant in the future to try out their regular menu.
