FOOD: Okay, but not great! The avocado was brown/grey. Pay extra for cheese and crouton in the French Onion Soup ( which was hardly a French onion; the onions should be caramelized before making the broth!). Bland coffee! The worst thing about this place is the poor hygiene the staff displays. Despite dressing like they do yardwork, I watched the woman with long red hair rub her eyes, nose, corner of her mouth and face too many times to keep count! Then she would bring your food, make your drinks etc. The Same problem with the short guy with facial hair! Why do they keep scratching their scalp???? I thought there was a state-required food handler training, but apparently not necessary here! Always fabulous service. The wait can be long but it is always worth it! The food is varied and fabulous. Small menu but we always find something for everyone at the table. Their lead bar person makes some amazing mocktails that are always deliciously beautiful, in addition to stellar cocktails for those still partaking. Everything about this place was great. The food was excellent, service was fast and friendly. Definitely one of the spendier options in MV but I'd say they back it up. We ordered the avocado eggs Benedict and the calabrese stallion. Every component was perfectly executed! The restaurant itself is cute, and it was packed pretty much the whole time we were there on a Sunday 10:30-noon. We did have about a 30 minute wait but we just walked around until they texted us. Visited Martini Brunch last week for lunch and boy am I glad I did. Was warmly greeted when I arrived and promptly brought water and a menu. Ordered a steak sandwich that was delicious, especially if you like horseradish. The ambience was inviting and made me feel I was at a friend's house for lunch. When the waitress came to order- both my husband and I had chosen the same thing- the chicken sandwich- which is unacceptable- it's so much better to order two things so we can split and try two different things.... The waitress mentioned a cauliflower sandwich- which sounds meh... but nothing else was standing out to me (I'm not a big breakfast person) even though my husband was not pumped he was going to have to give me 1/2 his chicken sandwich in exchange for a cauliflower one.... Made the drive down from Bham last Sunday to meet some friends. Cute place, very homey. Lots of street parking, easy to find. Welcomed right away by wait staff. Coffee was good. I noticed this new place a few times over the past month or so. Today, I pointed it out to my husband, and he said let's stop (love the spontaneity!). It's small, but we sat at the bar table type seating and watched the world go by. I think as more people discover it, you might have a wait. We both cleaned our plates - so very good! I had every intention of going to another spot for breakfast while visiting Mount Vernon, but while I was getting my morning matcha, the barista was absolutely raving about this new spot called Martini Brunch. A mound of sweet and salty honeycomb butter sat atop the most thick and fluffy piece of sourdough toast I've ever had in my life. The presentation was a 10/10. Definitely the type of place where you eat with your eyes first. My first thought was that it couldn't possibly taste as good as it looked, but to my surprise it was even better. The farm house aesthetic and small town friendly service made me feel all the warm and fuzzies. Every employee I interacted with seemed so genuine and had the biggest smile on their face. This tiny little gem is located in a mostly residential neighborhood, so might not be on your radar, but it should be. A couple of notes: First, it's small - only maybe ten or twelve tables and some bar-type seating - and they don't take reservations, so get there early to get a spot...or come a little later, after the brunch crowd has cleared out. Second, and this is important: This is a 21 and over establishment. Yep, it's a breakfast BAR, so plan accordingly. No kids. Martini Brunch is cute, sweet, and everything you want in a place to meet friends for breakfast. It's charming, family-owned and operated, has friendly, helpful service, and a small, eclectic menu with a focus on quality local ingredients and fun cocktails. The honeycomb toast is perfect as a sweet and salty starter to share. One insanely thick slice of sourdough French toast with whipped honey butter and sea salt on top. Cut it into quarters (or smaller) for a nice amuse bouche before your main course. Try the Prosciutto Benedict - it is delicious. The prosciutto offers a much better counterpoint to the Hollandaise and egg yolk than the usual Canadian bacon, in my opinion. The breakfast potatoes are perfectly seasoned, a little crunchy on the outside, soft and hot inside. A minor issue with temperature was graciously corrected by the server with apologies and a smile. The ever-changing drink list is creative, with an eye toward fun. So far, I've only enjoyed breakfast a couple of times at Martini Brunch, but a lunch date for the French Dip is on my Must Do Soon list, based on the rave reviews I've heard. For a new place, and a first restaurant, Martini Brunch is on pace to become an institution. Any minor hiccups should be ironed out as they get rolling, and in time I hope they'll make the interior even more cozy/comfy. Go now, before everyone else catches on. read more

I hate to dissent from all of these glowing reviews. We were so excited to go check out this new spot in Mount Vernon. We love to support our local businesses and especially the restaurants. They have some creative dishes on the menu, but the menu felt pretty limited in choices. The cocktail menu had more options than the food menu (which may not be a bad thing, just an observation) My spicy bloody Mary was very good. My wife's mimosa looked delicious, but got dumped all over her, so we got off to a soggy start to say the least. My biscuits and gravy were good with a decent amount of sausage in the gravy. The gravy was a bit salty and the dish was served luke warm at best. My wife ordered the honeycomb french toast based on other rave reviews. It was almost comical in that it was served on a plate the size of the slice of bread. There was not even room to set the silverware down between bites. The slice of french toast was probably triple cut from a whole loaf of bread at 2 1/2" thick or so. It must have been lightly dipped in egg because the entire middle of the toast was cold and dry. The outside was browned to perfection and looked delicious, until my wife sliced into it to reveal dry cold bread. The order was so cold, that the honey butter slathered on top, never melted. Cute place. They were busy which is a great thing for a new restaurant, but they are going to have to up their game and food temprature when delivered to the table if they are going to make it. We will give this another shot for lunch one day. Perhaps we just caught them on an off day. read more

We tried Martini Brunch today and I'm happy to report we did. If their first weeks of operation are any indication, they may become a treasure. The food and drink menus though small, are thoughtful and creative. The atmosphere is casual and inviting. There are only about 10 tables along with "bar seating" along wall mounted "bartops". Staff were helpful and friendly. In-house music was low enough to allow conversation but loud enough to make itself known. Apparently we just missed their morning crowd so we were able to grab a table immediately. We ordered cocktails and perused their menu. They had an interesting dish called honeycomb toast. It was a whipped butter with honeycomb and salt slathered on a thick slice of toasted sourdough bread. We decided to order it as an appetizer. Oh man! It was delicious! Had we not shared it I could have certainly filled up on it as a main course! Not too sweet, a nice blend of sweet and savory backed up by tart sourdough, and enough butter that could soak in through the center making juicy spots and leaving a crispy crust around the outside. I ordered the prosciutto eggs Benedict. Interesting take on the hollandaise sauce. Not loaded up with lemon, more like a cream sauce. Personally, I think it could have used a bit of lemon zest on the top but the flavors blended very well. Eggs were poached perfectly soft. The accompanying greens were fresh and vibrant but they needed a bit of enhancement, a light mist of a lemon vinegrette would have been a nice touch. The potatoes were well seasoned, soft inside, and delightfully crispy. My wife had the French dip sans cheese with potato wedges and a wonderful herbaceous ajus. There are a number of other items on the menu we want to try before picking favorites, so we'll be back! read more

I love that they use fresh local ingredients, they care about their customers, and they care about their plants! (IYKYK). While their menu might be limited for some, they have your great essentials for brunch, and some added items you don't see anywhere else. Honeycomb French toast with home made honey butter? Bread heaven. Signature breakfast cocktails? It's 5:00 somewhere, and it might just be 5:00 (am) here! Honestly, people are entitled to their opinion about their food, and maybe you got an experience on an off day, but give them another chance, or else you are robbing yourself of an amazing experience.
