We usually go here once a month June -September. Sedro is an acquired taste and not always the most welcoming. But this place has great food, big potions and really comfortable. Our server Josh was super amazing, friendly, and fast with service. We got the French Vanilla Cappuccino and it was probably the best I've ever had (it was very sweet). A good ole fashioned breakfast and lunch joint! Service was particularly charming and efficient. Everyone was welcoming and accommodating. I even overheard one server passing by another saying "'Scuse me, darling!" My waffle plate was delish. Waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Thick and meaty bacon cooked the way I love it -- chewy and NOT greasy. Scrambled eggs tasted free range and just-right firmness. Even the coffee was tasty. No picture except my empty platter! Husband enjoyed his denver scramble, English muffin and hash browns too. Was thoroughly entertained looking at the kitschy decor from a bygone era. See crow print and t-bone sign! although the place was packed, we received our coffees right away and food maybe 10 minutes after that. Our check came to $31 which further astounded me --- talk about a throwback to a bygone era. We rarely see breakfast anywhere besides McD's for less than $20 per person! Nothing fancy or pretentious here, just classic, well-prepared diner food served lightning-fast with a smile. For me, that is enough. read more

Much better experience the second time around! I went with the pancakes with bacon and eggs. The pancakes and eggs were top notch; the bacon was floppy and rather tastiness. My boyfriend ordered the eggs Benedict with well-done hashbrowns. The ham served with the Benedict was glorious; the hashbrowns were soggy. Service was outstanding. Good summary: stick with the ham, eggs, and pancakes and stay away from the hashbrowns and bacon. read more

Their pancakes leave something to be desired but, aside from those, everything I have tried their has been outstanding. Their personnel, without exception are always polite and very efficient. I can get what I usually order elsewhere quite a lot cheaper but the quality just isn't in the cheaper product. My wife and I eat at Bonnie Jo's more often than anywhere else. Pretty decent grub. These are the third owners since we started visiting Sedro Woolley back in 2009. These folks have it together better than any of the previous owners. I had the half order of biscuits and gravy with hash browns, two eggs and two sausage links. The biscuits were large and very good as was the sausage gravy. My eggs were cooked as ordered. The links were good, maybe a bit heavy on sage, but that's a personal taste thing. The hash brown were plentiful, nice and crispy, just like I like 'em. My coffee was kept NICS and full. The wife had an order of Eggs Benedict which were very good with nice runny yolks. I tasted the Hollandaise Sauce and it was perfect! She had crispy hash browns too. All in all it was a good meal with good service at decent prices. We will visit again. read more

We were here with a very large party. 9 people. The restaurant was pretty busy but we only waited about 10 minutes. The waitress was efficient and got our table cleaned and seated us as quickly as possible. The food came out fast, was hot and delicious. A bunch of us tried the chicken fried steak and it was so good. Perfectly fried and fork tender. We also enjoyed the kielbasa breakfast, eggs Benedict and the biscuits and gravy. I was riding my motorcycle through Sedro-Woolley around lunch time and decided to stop for lunch. I walked down Metcalf St and saw Bonnie Jo's Cafe and decided that was where I was going to eat. I had never been there before and decided to try it out. My first impression was it was showing it's age, but with the state of our economy these days that didn't surprise me. Upon entry I scanned the room and found an unoccupied table and sat down. About a minute later a server greeted me, gave me the menu and took my drink order. I noticed that the menu I was given had two sides. Breakfast on one side and Lunch on the other. I also noticed that either side may be used all day. I chose to order off the lunch side and opted for the Reuben sandwich with a green salad. Typically I order fries with my sandwich, but I am trying to lose weight. The Reuben was a nice size with a generous helping of corned beef and I thought the sauerkraut was tasty. The sandwich was still quite hot from the grill. I appreciated that it wasn't sitting, waiting to be served! The green salad was simply lettuce, vertically sliced tomato, a hard-boiled egg sliced in half, mini croutons, and my choice of dressing (I opted for Italian) served in a small bowl on the side. (There may have been a couple more ingredients, I'm writing this from memory the next day) I enjoyed my lunch experience at Bonnie Jo's and do not regret eating there. Oh my... decent food and plenty of it! Nice small town Cafe atmosphere with older rock tunes instead of the typical country music we get around here. Service was prompt, kind, and helpful. Menu is quite varied, a nice mix of breakfast and lunch food. Stated hours say they close at 2pm. An hour more would be nice, but it's a good balance for breakfast and lunch. I opted for the country fried steak and eggs, while my wife opted for biscuits and gravy. The CFS was nicely seasoned, with a seasoning blend I recognized but couldn't identify. I was able to try the sausage gravy away from the CFS and it was nicely seasoned too. I think the CFS seasoning overpowered the gravy seasoning a bit, but doing less would likely make the CFS bland. Plenty of hashbrowns, though they weren't as crispy as we would have preferred, but that's as easy as asking for them well done should you prefer them that way. Smart compromise. My wife opted for the biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns, eggs, and bacon. Kudos for toasting the biscuits on the flattop, that's the way I'd do it at home! Real scrambled eggs, not eggs in a bottle. Coffee was good and the option for water is a good idea. Summary: Plenty of other stuff to try, we'll be back. Maybe Benedict or pancakes next time! read more

We went here because the place we actually came for (across the street) was not opened on Tuesday. Always up for trying new places. First I think you have to be at least 50+ to dine here, either that Tuesdays are Senior days. We waited about 15 minutes as they got a table for us. The layout was done poorly in my opinion. I know they were trying for the social distancing tabling but it just seem weird with tables lined up all along the side wall. Here's my rating from a scale of 1 to 5. Service- 2 They tried but literally we got 3 different serve and non of them knew what the other was doing. They even brought our meals one plate at the time. I felt bad about eating before my other family member got there's so I waited. My daughter got a plain Belgium waffle and that was the last to arrive to the table. I thought all servers know to feed the kids first. Food - 3 Mediocre at best. Not great..not bad. Hence the service made eating it much worse. I had to ask for water for my kids. Its a family own biz that needs some update decor and a waiting staff that looks like they care and are paying attentive to their customers. The food is okay but they could always improve that with the service. Most like won't be back and just remember that Joy's Bakery is closed on Tuesday. read more

I really like Bonnie Jo's! The food is greasy spoon kinda good. You're not expecting anything but fill your tummy breakfast. It's tasty and my hash browns are crispy. I love the chicken fried steak. They always get my eggs right. Reasonable prices. I love the waffle and strawberries. The service is like that old breakfast place in town that closed brought the servers there. Coming to Bonnie Jo's makes me want to return when the shops are open. I see one brightly faced waitress cleaning non stop,she loves her job.What does that say? This restaurant must be swimming in money. Because the waitress took forty minutes to even give my order to the cooks. Mind you there was 7 tables of people there. It took an hour to get French toast and bacon. Then I had to bus my own table because the waitress never came back. The cooks were busy talking about a roommate winning money at a casino instead of cooking my French toast. Which the entire restaurant could hear. Sometimes it's tough writing the business first review, I've put it off for a few days now. Visiting, way up North for me, I knew Burlington had little to offer me, I went a searchin. I'd attempted Joy's but way to many people & it looked like a long wait. Crossed the street walked in & grabbed myself a seat @ the bar. Coffee & cream within a minute, super! A few minutes later I placed an order of biscuits & gravy, links,& and a couple over medium. The order took some time as I believe the cook was on break, nobody in the visible kitchen, no big deal, maybe ten minutes. This is a family run business, couple of sisters if I read it well, they kept my coffee topped & were pleasant to chat with. Biscuits were the hit, large, crispy outside, moist inside, gravy was good, links were tasty, eggs are eggs, though they were cooked as ordered. Happy to return & explore the menu further, I can recommend this place for a hearty breakfast! read more
