Sourdough Toast
Mikah M.

Our server Josh was super amazing, friendly, and fast with service. We got the French Vanilla Cappuccino and it was probably the best I've ever had (it was very sweet). The chicken fried steak was super delicious and had a lot of food. The French toast was good but nothing special. Overall I really enjoyed this place and plan on coming back in the future!

A good ole fashioned breakfast and lunch joint! Service was particularly charming and efficient. Everyone was welcoming and accommodating. I even overheard one server passing by another saying "'Scuse me, darling!" My waffle plate was delish. Waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Thick and meaty bacon cooked the way I love it -- chewy and NOT greasy. Scrambled eggs tasted free range and just-right firmness. Even the coffee was tasty. No picture except my empty platter! Husband enjoyed his denver scramble, English muffin and hash browns too. Was thoroughly entertained looking at the kitschy decor from a bygone era. See crow print and t-bone sign! although the place was packed, we received our coffees right away and food maybe 10 minutes after that. Our check came to $31 which further astounded me --- talk about a throwback to a bygone era. We rarely see breakfast anywhere besides McD's for less than $20 per person! Nothing fancy or pretentious here, just classic, well-prepared diner food served lightning-fast with a smile. For me, that is enough.

Great service friendly staff and outstanding breakfast. The entire staff-all three of them did a great job and had every table dialed in

This is a great mom and pop shop. The eggs Benedict was very tasty. Biscuits and gravy was OK. The portions are huge. The staff was friendly and nice. Will be back to this mom and pop breakfast house

Brunch on Tuesday
Trang W.

We went here because the place we actually came for (across the street) was not opened on Tuesday. Always up for trying new places. First I think you have to be at least 50+ to dine here, either that Tuesdays are Senior days. We waited about 15 minutes as they got a table for us. The layout was done poorly in my opinion. I know they were trying for the social distancing tabling but it just seem weird with tables lined up all along the side wall. Here's my rating from a scale of 1 to 5. Service- 2 They tried but literally we got 3 different serve and non of them knew what the other was doing. They even brought our meals one plate at the time. I felt bad about eating before my other family member got there's so I waited. My daughter got a plain Belgium waffle and that was the last to arrive to the table. I thought all servers know to feed the kids first. Food - 3 Mediocre at best. Not great..not bad. Hence the service made eating it much worse. I had to ask for water for my kids. Its a family own biz that needs some update decor and a waiting staff that looks like they care and are paying attentive to their customers. The food is okay but they could always improve that with the service. Most like won't be back and just remember that Joy's Bakery is closed on Tuesday.

1/2 biscuit and gravy breakfast

We were here with a very large party. 9 people. The restaurant was pretty busy but we only waited about 10 minutes. The waitress was efficient and got our table cleaned and seated us as quickly as possible. The food came out fast, was hot and delicious. A bunch of us tried the chicken fried steak and it was so good. Perfectly fried and fork tender. We also enjoyed the kielbasa breakfast, eggs Benedict and the biscuits and gravy. The portions were very great for the price. We aren't from Skagit county but will definitely be coming back.

8oz country fried steak and eggs, sourdough toast still coming.

I was perusing the interwebs one evening when I saw that one of my favorite local comedians, Sam…read moreMiller, was doing a show not far away, in the bustling mini metropolis of Sedro-Woolley. I quickly grabbed tickets and we headed over. It was a nice, warm evening and there was plenty of seating in the large beer garden. We grabbed a couple of pints inside, and sat down for the show. It was a fun crowd, a lovely evening, and (more than once) I found myself wondering how I ended up at a weeknight outdoor comedy show in Sedro-Woolley! They had a bunch of delicious beers on tap, plus wine and cider too. They even have some pinball machines, which are hard to come by around these parts. In a county devoid of many taphouse options, I'll definitely be adding this spot to my regular rotation.

Barley & Brew is by far my favorite place to get a beer in Sedro. I'm fortunate to call myself one of the former. They have paint and sip nights, live music, and a bunch of other super fun activities, along with an incredible patio. B&B is dog-friendly, so there are usually a bunch of adorable pups around. They have 12 taps, along with a great selection of bottles, cans, wines, ciders, spiked teas, etc. And they are always stocked with delicious snacks. Do yourself a favor and check it out. If you don't love it, your next beer is on me! :)

There were some tables and booths. We ordered their house made chili to start and it was delicious and filling. My hubby ordered the Billy's platter. I ordered the chicken chimichanga. The food was delicious and generously sized. I really liked the fresh salsa, guacamole and tortilla chips with the chimi. The staff were all friendly and attentive. It's always nice when they keep your water filled. We took most of our main courses to-go.

Regulars clearly know each other and the staff, which you don't really see much anymore. Refreshing. Service matched that energy -- warm and good throughout. I went with my go-to order, the chicken fried steak. It's not the best I've had -- the steak itself had more of a ground meat texture than a proper cut, which was a little different. But it was enormous and absolutely hit the spot. The biscuit on the side was solid too. My husband got the ham and said it was juicy and well done. Not a destination spot necessarily, but a great find if you're in the area and want a hearty, unpretentious brunch.

There are a few baristas that know how to operate the espresso machine at the Mt Vernon location. Several baristas that have been new to the location have conveyed to me that sometimes the machine simply doesn't seem to work right. Even though the issue is known, this hasn't prevented them from delivering coffee that is very low quality. That said, some of the baristas do know how to operate the machine in a way that renders a good cup. Since this is the location that is near me, I am offering insight for this location. I have on occasion visited the Sedro Woolley stand and have never had the issue with quality. I don't fault any of the baristas as they don't control the equipment, and they don't set policy on quality control. I had one issue where a barista was very indignant when I asked for a new americano. Also management has been very dismissive and unprofessional when I have spoken with them several times. They seem happy to provide mediocre coffee at this location. Since then and because I don't want to argue over a cup of coffee, I have simply poured out several dozen drinks when they simply don't have any detectable coffee in them. I am no longer going to pay for milk and water so I am done with Morgan's. There are five markers that one can use to detect the presence of coffee in a drink. There is the color, the smell and the taste. Notably there is the stimulating effect that coffee has. Finally, there is the fact that coffee is a diuretic and often causes your cells to release water and this is why most people have to go to the bathroom after drinking coffee. Today like so many days in the past, none of these factors suggest that there is coffee in the Americano that I ordered. Today instead of discarding the coffee that was just white with no coffee color, coffee teste or coffee smell. I drank it so that I could do an A/B comparison. After drinking the coffee, there was no detectable stimulant effect. I have some cold brew in my fridge and drank that. Suddenly and unsurprisingly, I am now awake and alert and definitely experiencing the diuretic effect. It was my hope that eventually the management would become diligent enough to address this issue. Because they are perfectly content having me purchase milk water for 5 dollars and also provide a tip, I am officially no longer a patron. I've ordered from the Mt Vernon's stand several times a week for a few years now. Today was perhaps my 40th Americano with no detectable coffee in it. If you want a great tasting espresso, go to Sedro Woolley, pray that you never have to deal with the leadership over a quality issue
