We checked out the menu in advance and new there were two choices for ordering - tapas plates and entree plates. We decided tapas plates was the best way to go plus we could have more choices. To drink - my husband told them to surprise him with gin - a gin martini with a blue cheese stuffed olive. I got the Key West Sunrise to start with which was lovely - and beautiful. We began with the caprese salad. The cherry tomatoes were a lovely touch and their balsamic glaze was a great touch. For mains we enjoyed - For my husband escargot and lamb chops. He loved it all especially the fact that the escargot was served in their shells. I got the seaweed salad, and tuna tataki both were prepared beautifully- it was by a true chef! We also got the grilled vegetable sampler to share. All of the food was prepared beautifully, fresh, and tasted outstanding! I couldn't finish my dinner but knew I wanted dessert. We had heard about great desserts and when the waiter brought the menu we saw Apple Strudel. We knew we had to order it!! So disappointed. Was so looking forward to a fabulous night... not at Martin's. After had read the reviews, I thought this would be a good place to celebrate a special night. But instead it was way way over priced and only average food. Server was ok not great. Lobster, my fav, was a little salty and served rather cold. For $72 I was expecting much more. Martin's did a pretty good job on this, our first visit. The staff members were very accommodating, the cocktails were excellent, and the food was amazing! DH and I shared the grouper schnitzel since it was so big, and it was mouth-watering. We also shared the delicious strudel. We enjoyed our martinis - lemon drop, key lime and chocolate- all yummy. The only down side was the very loud and obnoxious party seated in our room, so loud that other diners asked to be moved away from them, yet nothing was said or done by the restaurant. We loved this awesome little place! I forgot to take pictures but I had the filet and my husband had lobster risotto and we both started with a Caesar salad. Alex our server was great with suggestions and the service was impeccable. I think he said they have been in business over 39 years. We are visiting and could not be happier with our choice. I went to Martins for the 1st time. I am a vegetarian with food allergies. I discussed my allergies with the server. I was told the grilled vegetables were grilled on the same grill as fish and meat. The server went away came back and told me all they could do for me was fettuccine with veggies, (I do not do cream based foods) or a salad. Pretty limited for entrees. I ordered steamed veggies with rosemary potatoes ands requested a bed of arrugala. We ordered wine, which was brought by the server and just left. I opened the wine and poured, in fact, I poured the wine the entire meal. While we waited for food, the server returned to our table twice and rearranged our glasses and silverware placing my glass and utensils where he wanted!! The third time he returned to our table and began to rearrange my glasses and utensils I politely asked him to stop and please do not touch my glasses and utensils. The server told me the 'manager' wants them to do this. Still waiting for our food, the server returned to our table and rearranged my eye glasses and cell phone! I told him to stop and to not touch my personal belongings. While we were waiting for our food, we commented on the dish served in a martini glass and other food presentations. Finally our food arrived. My friend had ordered the lobster and it was beautifully presented on her plate. I looked at my plate and saw my the vegetables on a bed of arugula and two fingerling potatoes, not on a dinner plate, but on a small salad plate. Right away I could tell the potatoes were not rosemary potatoes- the lack of rosemary was the first clue- they were boiled. I was told they would be roasted rosemary potatoes. There was no presentation of my food even attempted! Most of the veggies were over cooked including the asparagus! H After our meal, I spoke with the 'manager' about the server moving our utensils/glasses and moving my personal belongings, as well as, the lack of any effort for presentation of my food. The only comment by the 'manager' was, 'so you are talking about vegetables on a plate'! I am a local and will not be returning to Martins!!! Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo - delicious and decedent! I was there with a bachelorette party and the restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel (Parrot Key). We were surprised they had Beef Wellington on the menu. My favorite wherever I go! So, of course I had to order it! It was presented beautifully, however I was disappointed that the filet inside was tough, but had good flavor. My husband was very disappointed with his ribeye because it was not seasoned at all. Phenomenal food and service. Sat at the bar cause I was riding solo but Alex treated me as of I was a party of 6 and was total full service all while helping his fellow employees, making drinks for the whole restaurant and bar! warmed up with the schnitzel then moved on to the Beef Wellington, grilled veggie sampler and spatzle. The filet was like butter in my mouth and the green peppercorn sauce complimented it perfectly. There was so much flavor in the spatzle I didn't want to stop eating it but had to save room for dessert. Alex suggested the apple strudel and thankfully it was the perfect serving size so i could finish. I paired my meal with two martinis and a glass of a red Cab from France. The expressotini had a nice kick of cocoa bean. This was an amazing dining experience! They immediately said they didn't have a table even though there were two tables available and another table of 4 were leaving. We are a party of 5 and I asked why we couldn't be seated at the table opening up if the other table had a reservation at 6. He said, "we are a fine dining establishment and we don't just put chairs at tables." I can honestly say this is the first time I've been turned away from a restaurant and seats were available! My husband and I dined at Martin's tonight. We were blown away at how wonderful our waitress, Bryna was. The food was delicious and the host was so accommodating with our seating request even as we arrived really early for our reservations. We couldn't have asked for a better dinner during our honeymoon here in Key West. The Beef Wellington and fish special were sublime. Of note, we were initially a bit hesitant to dine there based off of some recent poor reviews, but I am so glad we ignored the negativity and entitlement that some people seem to have on this site. So I read the negative reviews about the service. We came here for happy hour and couldn't have received better service. The martini menu wasn't limited. It was all martinis for $6.25 each! All tapas was 1/2 off. We sampled numerous dishes and they were all excellent. My wife is vegan and they had plenty of options. I would definitely come back. Our server was newer but she did an absolute stellar job constantly checking on us, cleaning dirty plates and asking us what else we needed. You have to try Martin's!!! read more

We found ourselves here at Martin's three times within a week. We sat outside at the bar for happy hour each time. We tried several different Tapas and loved all of them: Calamari Ceviche, Grilled Veggie Sampler, Serrano Ham, Cheese Sampler and Tuna Tataki. The Tapas are 1/2 price during happy hour, as are the Martinis. We sampled a few of those as well: Key West Sunset, Appletini, Lemon Drop, Ultimate Cosmo and the Key Lime Martini. These were great choices if you prefer sweet. The bartender was very helpful at making suggestions. We asked some questions about the food selection and she introduced us to the owner, who also works in the kitchen. The Atmosphere at the bar was great. Martin's is one of my favorite Key West restaurants. Starting with the outstanding Tripp as our server: our group of 11 dinner guests agrees on the fact that nowadays it is rare to find a server who is truly passionate about his job, but we found the " perle rare " at Martin's! Tripp not only knew every item on the menu and made us all hungry for the entire menu as he was describing the options, but he also knew how each dish could be accommodated to allergies and food preferences. As guests we could all tell that he admires the owner, and his dedication to the business. He got every order right, and made sure that every drink was perfect. Service alone gets this place 5 stars. The food would give it another 5*, with a great money for value (main entrees averaging $35-45) and extremely fresh products with creative touches and sauces. Most of us opted for the daily special, 1.5lb lobster with crab cakes and a puree of potatoes and carrots, while others went for the catch of the day with an extra lobster tail. All plates were fully cleaned by the time Tripp returned to check on us. Another highlight is the Key Lime Pie Martini. Tried a couple other ones in key west, this one was above all.
