When I questioned the price the man behind the counter spoke rather rudely to me. I didn't like it. I ate the sandwich but have decided to find another bagel place with better prices. I was meaning to pick up some bagels to take back with me on my flight for the next day, but due to poor planning, I waited until just before dinnertime and most bagel shops were closed! Bagels are nice and chewy. Just a bit dense and the prices a bit high which is to be expected in NYC and the heart of 23rd street. But it's nice to have choices of mini bagels and flat bagels. The toppings and cream cheese flavors are super fresh and good. Lots of tuna, whitefish, salmon, lox, and vege choices. Nice healthy juices and coffee made here. Jalapeño cream cheese on a FLAT sesame bagel toasted lightly will change your life. I always walk into this location looking a hot mess but the girl who runs the register always seems to give me a compliment every time and literally told me I have nice nails with no nail polish on last time. Like how cute and sweet. So, customer service is on point. They move FAST! The line is quick so if you are in a rush in the morning commute, definitely come to this location. It's hard to find a morning breakfast quick casual that has fast service but is not RUDE TO YOU. And this place is quite the opposite :) Food is on point and I love their coffee. Decent everything bagel with lox spread, but not my go to black and white cookie spot. Finally had a pick a bagel after almost 2 years in the city. I use an everything bagel with lox spread as my comparison, and sometimes black and white cookies if they carry them. The bagel itself was slightly overdone but seasoned well. The lox spread had a very healthy schmear. There were some chunks of salmon throughout and the only complaint was that it was slightly too salty, but it is what it is. The black and white was ok. The cookie overall had good flavors, but I prefer my cookie and frosting to be soft in nature. Not the case here. read more

I walked out of here and went to the place with inferior bagels up the street. Why? Because the employees here were not wearing their masks properly. The guy stocking the beverage cooler and at least one of the guys serving bagels had their masks below their noses. Pick-A-Bagel is a typical ye ol' neighborhood bagel shop. The bagel portions are huge and come with a huge dollop of cream cheese of your choosing. You can get your bagel microwaved or toasted. The bagels are decent, but not spectacular. Just a typical new york bagel to fill you up. I tried a toasted sesame bagel with strawberry cream cheese and it was alright. The bagel was huge, making it tiring to bite into. The strawberry cream cheese still tasted mainly like cream cheese. There were bits of strawberry in it but the cream cheese seemed to have been mixed with red food coloring(???not sure). If you come here, come starving. read more

As a response the the comment left my the owner to my post from a month ago ... the whole tone of his comment is another reason why I don't recommend his business and reflects exactly what I said about his attitude. Also I did not say I ate the bagel I actually threw it out. What I did do was place an order the next day to pick up like I did every single day just like always because I figured your business made an error when they made it incorrectly and like I stated in my fist post and in person and I will state here again ... yes I work next door... however I was working and the whole point of picking it up was because I could not leave the office once I was there. The order was wrong, I could not and would not eat it and therefore should not have had to pay for it so I reported it to grubhub which is where I ordered it through as I should have. End of story. I went on with my day. Your business is the only one I have ever had an issue with like this. You are highly unprofessional. I care not what other people did. Your behavior is what makes your business terrible. The mistake made by the person preparing it wasn't an issue. You are the issue. The fact you are even continuing this is appalling. I've been told before that I can be a real asshole when it comes to food. But when it really comes down to it, I love food, and I appreciate good quality food. So if I'm buying a bagel, I expect a real bagel, not some generic piece of dough that is shaped like a bagel. So I walked in here and saw all the fresh bagels being made in the back, I knew immediately this place is definitely kosher! I ordered their egg sandwich on whole wheat bagel with very little butter ($2.50) and boy was it good!!! The bagel is fat and their eggs were perfect. It was so big that I could only eat half of it and was still feeling pretty darn satisfied. All in all, I really like this place. I used to love Pick a Bagel at their old spot and have debated writing this for a while, but at the end of a day if you're looking for a bagel you need to Pick-a-somewhere else because this is more miss than hit as of late. First, the food: the bagels are extremely dense and chewy. While you want a good bagel, here one bite will have you chewing for a while. Their bacon is paper thin and leaves a lot to be desired. They do earn a point because at least the eggs are cooked here and not a microwave. Second: the service is okay. The cashier is nice, but honestly the rest is lacking in my opinion. Maybe it's just my experience. They are quick at the very least. Third: pricing. Their pricing is OKAY. not great, not terrible. However they'll up charge you if you use a card, and forget ordering online. What bagel spot has a $20 dollar minimum for delivery (which is subpar and often arrives cold)?! Finally, we come to the overall value. When you factor in all of the above you get a solidly mediocre experience. I wish they offered delivery with less than a $20 minimum, or went back to their old bagels because it feels like it's changed drastically.
