This was my first time visiting and I was happily overwhelmed with the huge wall of donuts and all of the different types and flavors. I ended up getting a pumpkin donut and a drink, and both really hit the spot. Despite the number of donuts, I really felt like it was high quality. The cashier was friendly and gave us several recommendations, including the Tres Leches Croissant Donut. Everything tasted delicious. I often go out of my way to head to Peter Pan over in Williamsburg when I can, but it's still tedious to get there so I don't go as often as I would like. I thought maybe it was just certain flavors but all 4 were the same! I'm assuming since they had such a great selection it's because they don't throw out their donuts, they keep them for next day or even days later. Ours had to have been at least a week old!! I'm not digging the French cruller. I think of it as the angel food cake of cakes - it's light, airy, tastes nice - but lacks oomph for me. They also have regular food (i.e. sandwiches, bagels) and beverages such as coffee, matcha, juice, etc. Price: There's many different types of donuts (i.e. cake, ring), with unique flavors as well (i.e. s'mores cronut, creme brulee donut, etc). Most donuts are $3.00, with the croissant donut being $5.50. Texture/taste: I really wanted to try the tiramisu croissant donut, but chose to get the French toast croissant donut ($5.50) this time instead. Cronuts are a bit thicker than the average donut, so if you're craving more of a dessert, definitely go for the cronut (although they are a bit more expensive than the regular donut). It has a crispy and flaky texture, and was pretty accurate in modeling after a French toast taste. The taste was sweet, but not overly sweet. Conveniently, it's located right by the 6/R/W trains so it's extremely easy to get to. Always have wanted to stop and go in whenever I have passed by so many times in the neighborhood. And, I finally decided to after bring curious for a long time. Ambiance wise of the inside is set up similar to a diner but more casual and not uptight unlike an actual sit-down kind of diner. Makes me feel super welcoming to the space. You can choose to grab-and-go or sit down by the purple countertop stools. You can hang your bags and jackets on the hook under the bar table. Additionally, there're some standing round tables against the wall. There's an outlet by the standing tables but not each outlet is working so check to see before charging your phone. Very fast service from friendly and helpful staff. I just had lunch not long ago, so only got myself a mango juice w/o ice upon request. Staff weren't annoyed or anything when I'd asked for no ice and didn't charge extra either. No donuts or pastries for me despite The Donut Pub being famous for their donuts. Maybe I'll get some donuts to go when I stop by Chelsea again. Will update on the taste next time. Back to the mango juice, it's pretty refreshing on a humid day. I used to love the donut pub, especially the original location on West 14th. However I went to the Astor place location yesterday to get some donuts and was really disappointed by their quality and flavor. I bought three donuts to go. First was the St. Joseph, which was a cruller dusted with powdered sugar, filled with cannoli cream, and topped with a cherry. It tasted good but the cannoli cream didn't actually fill the donut, it was just sitting on top. The regular cannoli cream filled donut was stale, and the filling was only piped in on one side. It tasted alright but the staleness and stingy filling was annoying. Finally the blueberry cake donut was just bad- the glaze did little to hide the oily deep fried flavor, and the "blueberries" were just those bright blue flecks you get in entenmann's little bites. I was looking forward to eating it for breakfast but halfway through I had to throw it out. I honestly like the Dunkin' Donuts blueberry cake donut better. Giving them three stars only because I still really like this place in theory, and I'll always have soft spot for their maple bacon donut. It just sucked to have been so excited about donuts only for them to be subpar. read more

OMG, this place has the BEST vegan (read: non-dairy) Old Fashioned donuts I have ever had. It's fairly easy to make vegan yeast donuts; many places have them.
