    Hook's Famous Crunchy Fish Filet

Place was packed on a Saturday evening when went by for some happy hour and food with our friends. The bar area was jamming with good live music and the staff seated quickly. We had 4 different appetizers and some drinks. Would love to go back for dinner sometime.

Great service, great view and delicious food. Steak was cooked perfectly and super tender.

Stop by with another couple on Friday night. We started our meals with appetizers of mussels , escargot, and crispy fish fingers. The mussels were in a white wine sauce and were delicious. The escargot was in a garlic Panko and crusted bowl, which was also very tasty. The crispy fish fingers are to die for they are awesome with the honey and raspberry glaze that is served on them. I got the grouper supreme, which is a fillet of grouper pan seared with shrimp scampi on top. Mine was fabulous. My wife got the orange ruffie and was extremely pleased with her selection. Our waiter Tony was fantastic. He was very attentive, very knowledgeable of the specials and the menu and took great care of us. We sat overlooking the bridge with a window table and was treated to the views of the lake. The other couple that we were with Got a seared ribeye and a crispy walleye both raved about their meals. All in all was a great meal.

Well established restaurant and bar that has an amazing view of the lake and one of the best happy hour's around plus live music every night in the bar area Service was awesome especially with out waiter Eric he was so friendly helpful and personable. Cheeseburger sliders were flavorful and the perfect size , fish was crispy and moist and delicious and the drinks are worth you stopping in and checking them out.

    North Atlantic Lobster Tail.

We went to JB Hooks to meet friends for dinner. We ordered our appetizers and one was the lobster bites. They were so small the size of a marble maybe even a little smaller than that. Over cooked but the seasoning on it was good. I noticed another table didn't eat theirs either. My husband had steak and lobster tail. It was the largest we have had and was impressive but that was over cooked some as well. We've had lobster bites as we have travelled. This one I think would be embarrassing putting out at the table for people. Lobster bites are the size of like a marshmallow.

We just had the best happy hour dinner experience. KJ,our bartender, just did a wonderful job making great drinks and serving up some delicious appetizers. We got the chicken marsala and lots of happy hour appetizers. Atmosphere is lively and fun. Beautiful view of the lake sunset.

Decided to have Our annual vacation, romantic dinner at JB Hooks. We were immediately seated as we had reservations and started out with the baked oyster on the half shell, they were very tasty, cheesy, and a good hint saltiness. My espresso 43 was like a sweet iced coffee cocktail. I decided to splurge and get the 1lb lobster tail with the sides of BLT wedge salad ranch style and their seasonal veggies. Our season server Johnny did a great job providing us great service and his history with JB hooks. The lobster was the star of the show as it should be for the hefty market price have $125. Overall memorable experience with an attentive server, lakeside seating, and a delicious meal.

Experiences have always had up-and-down moments, but this time was disappointing because I really wanted it to be great. It just wasn't. The Good: The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the waterfront ambiance is spot on. It's clearly the place to be at the lake--so good job on the venue. The Service & Atmosphere: Service was adequate, but far from fine dining. If you're charging premium prices, the service model needs to match. Having random runners drop food at the table without knowing who ordered what is diner or casual Mexican restaurant service, not an elegant dining experience. The new manager stopped by twice--a nice touch, until we actually provided constructive feedback. Instead of offering a remedy, he offered excuses about being new and didn't handle criticism well. The Food: Apps (Deviled Eggs & Tuna): Both looked like they'd been plated earlier in the day--they had an unappetizing "sheen" to them that made them look leftover rather than fresh. The flavor on the eggs was completely muted, and the tuna was equally lusterless. Salads: We split the Caesar, and our friends had the wedge. They were served without any offer of fresh pepper. When we flagged down a staff member, they brought out cheap grocery-store salt and pepper grinders. Later, we were told the new chef prefers not to offer pepper on the table. With all due respect to the chef: that's the guest's choice, not yours. (Side note: the wedge was tasty, but oddly wasn't actually cut into a wedge). Mains: The ladies had the Sea Bass--the dish that originally put this place on the map. It was okay, but not as good as it used to be; the new Asian flair and bowl presentation take away from what used to make it the star of the show. The pork chop was good and thoroughly enjoyed. My lasagna had a great portion size and good base flavor, but it was dry as jerky with practically zero sauce. The Verdict: The restaurant will continue to thrive simply because of its location and the lack of competing fine-dining options on the water. But when you're dropping $500 on dinner, you expect accountability and an outstanding meal. We won't be back anytime soon.

Our first visit to Encore and it definitely won't be our last!…read more The atmosphere alone is worth the trip. The upper level has a more upscale feel, with a beautiful dining room and an incredible covered outdoor space complete with a stage for live music. The massive windows and stunning views overlooking the peninsula make it the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the evening. As for the food... wow. I had the crab legs, which were cooked perfectly, but can we talk about the green beans for a minute? They were ridiculously good. If licking the bowl in public wasn't frowned upon, I might have considered it. Colin ordered the salmon, which was absolutely beautiful and served with rice pilaf. Chris went with the crab-crusted walleye, and it was cooked to perfection. Emma Grace chose the giant pretzel, and giant is an understatement, it was the size of a dinner plate! It came with an assortment of charcuterie-style accompaniments that were fantastic all on their own. Then came dessert, and somehow things got even better. The bread pudding was hands-down one of the best I've ever had. I don't eat bread pudding often, but this one may have ruined all future bread puddings for me. We also shared the cheesecake and cookie skillet, and every bite was delicious. To top it all off, our waitress Makayla was absolutely wonderful and made the entire experience even better. Great food, beautiful views, amazing service, and a fantastic atmosphere. Encore knocked it out of the park. We'll definitely be making a return trip next summer!

The final person at our table got the shrimp Cajun pasta and she loved it. The reason for four stars is because the sides were just kind of plane. Our waiter Ethan was fantastic.
