I have only gotten Marty's burgers to go, so I will preface that I don't have the full, in-person, straight-off-the-grill burger experience. First off: their chicken burger is definitely better than their regular burger. However, while the inside of the chicken is very soft, and the outside very crispy, there's a disconnect in that the fried batter is full of flavor, but the actual chicken has none. It forces you to eat the casing of the chicken, which is quite oily, and in turn leaves a bad after-meal food coma experience. On the other hand, their actual burger reminds me of something in between shake shack and five guys. It doesn't quite hit the spot like five guys, yet doesn't taste clean enough to be a shake shack burger. I wanted soooo much to love Marty's burgers, which is why I still believe that ten minute walk from the store to home attributes to why my experience has been so...average. Their truffle fries are flavored beautifully! Although again, in that ten minutes, they do lose all of their crisp. I will say that I LOVEEEE the design of Marty's burgers: their menu, their interior, everything! such retro vibes!! Whoever their graphic designer is, I hope they know that I REALLY LOVE YOUR DESIGNS. Overall, it's the only burger joint in the area and if you're craving a burger that's a bit elevated from McDonald's, this place will do the job. Update: Went back for seconds. Gave the spicy chicken sandwich another chance. This time around, it was huge, plump, and juicy, with that same flavorful crunch. The location is on a busy street with metered parking, but according to a sign, there is parking available in the back as well. There's a self-checkout machine to place an order, as well as a separate register with a cashier, if you prefer to place your order with a person. We ordered: Double cheeseburger - BIG, juicy, delicious. Seeded bun. Burgers are definitely Marty's strength. Spicy fried chicken sandwich - I didn't receive the plump, juicy sandwich that some of the other reviewers got. My chicken was thin, a bit dry, and not very spicy, but still very crispy and flavorful. Served on a yummy Martin's potato roll. It was just ok. Impossible cheeseburger - BIG, a little bit salty, but still juicy and flavorful. Seeded bun. Fries - Golden, crispy, hand-cut, and PLENTIFUL. The Parmesan truffle fries were coated throughout and not just on the top. Mine retained their crisp long after they got cold. Mac n cheese - Macaroni baked with lots of creamy, gooey cheddar throughout, and sprinkled with Parmesan. YUMM!! The milkshakes are thick, and made with ice cream. Had the pleasure of having Marty's Burgers during a Yelp Elite Event and I must say, yummmmy! Marty's is located on Center Ave so be sure to pay attention when you're driving because you might miss it. There is metered parking right in front of the restaurant so pay the meters because Fort Lee meter police is on that!! Not to worry, if there is no parking available in the front they also have parking in the back as well (follow the sign). It was Saturday night and from what it seemed, Marty's was kicking (I mean, why wouldn't it be?). They had customers coming in back to back for pick up. I was so pleased to meet with Marty's wife - she's so sweet! She was front of house adding finishing touches on the orders while Marty was cooking his signature burgers in the kitchen! She gave me a background of the restaurant and told me it was only open for a couple of months and I couldn't have been more excited to try it! The check in offered one of the following combo meals: burger, fries and a drink OR chicken sandwich (spicy/regular) with fries and a drink. I ended up going with a spicy chicken sandwich and I tasted the spice! The chicken was tender however, I do wish the protein itself was a bit meatier. I was pleasantly surprised to see a new burger place open up so close to me and given my recent burger cravings, I naturally had to try this spot out. I ordered a spicy fried chicken sandwich and and single patty cheeseburger combo for takeout. They were both super delicious and juicy. The fried chicken crust was nice and crispy while the meat inside was moist and juicy. It also had a good kick to it, so I think spicy food lovers would appreciate that. The cheeseburger was somewhat reminiscent of in-n-out, but I definitely liked Marty's better, although personally not a fan of the sweet pickles. Everything was well seasoned, fresh, and juicy though. Finally, the original fries were decent, but notably they stay quite crispy even after 30 minutes of picking up my order. I think I would try the seasoned fries next time because the original ones are just a bit too plain for me. I recently got take out from Marty's Burgers and overall, it was a great experience. The staff is very polite, and the young male behind the counter (he was asian) does everything he can to make sure that your order is what you what it to be. He took the time to explain my questions about the options available, and because they don't have a fountain soda machine he also made sure that I didn't forget to grab the drink that is included with the combo meal from the drink case on the floor. I personally tried the Spicy Chicken sandwich combination, and it was yummy. - it tasted just like the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich if you're interested in a flavor profile, but only "homemade". The fries were yummy too with the right amount of crisp and a touch a salt. Unfortunately, as they cooled off, they weren't able to maintain that texture and flavor and I found that they became a tad stale much more quickly than I would have anticipated. I did not have to wait to place my order, but it did take about 15 minutes for my order. Not too long given that I could see the order was being created fresh in the back. However, I do wish they had provided a full lettuce leaf when they were making my burger as mine was super wilty and barely large enough to cover half of the bottom bun. I'll just leave it up to chance that the heat from the fresh spicy chicken wilted my lettuce leaf so. I've been to many burger spots and this has to be the best one by far. I'm not sure what sauce they use but the burger is so juicy and flavorful and is consistently good. Couldn't recommend a burger spot more than this one. I get their double burger with no modifications and it's just perfect. Their fries could use some work and aren't my favorite, but i would opt for their Mac and cheese instead since it's good. The place itself is small but never have an issues finding seating. We finally made it to Marty's! We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, a double cheeseburger with jalapeños, regular fries and poutine. My favorite was the burger. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The fixings were fresh and the seeded roll made the burger. I also enjoyed the spicy chicken sandwich. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned but wish it was actually spicy. Both sandwiches had the perfect ratio of ingredients! I absolutely LOVED the french fries. They were hand cut, freshly made and cooked perfectly. The fries had a crunchy exterior and a fluffy interior. Fries like this are hard to find! We were completely impressed by the freshness and quality of our meal for a fast food restaurant. Marty's is our staple delivery for burgers. We typically order from them once a month. I have never been to the physical location and our place is 10 minutes away by driving. The food has always arrived warm and fresh like I have just got it at the counter. My favorites are the double cheese burger, the bacon avocado and the spicy crispy chicken sandwich. The double cheeseburger is on par with the Shack burger and I have done a taste comparison before. Marty's has slightly thicker patties and taste a little less greasy. Its lettuce is less wilted and tomatoes are firmer. Not sure if it's because of inventory control compared to Shake Shack. I still love my Shake Shack especially since it's readily available anywhere but Marty's never even fails me. If you live in the Fort Lee, Pal Park or Edgewater area, just get your burger here instead of driving to Paramus. Their bacon avocado is a little too rich for me to finish an entire burger but is the Husband's favorite and I always snag a bite. I have tried the other burgers before - if you love mushroom, you will love the mushroom swiss, it's a high end Burger King mushroom swiss. The rocket man is a gourmet burger and a great healthy refreshing option. Finally the jalapeño burger isn't that memorable, probably will need to try it again. The spicy chicken or regular chicken sandwich is crispy, well fried and seasoned and may be a tad over breaded for others but it remains one of my favorite options on the menu. The hot dog is passable. Their fries are thinner and sometimes I wish for their saucy options, they will offer thicker fries (ie cheese and poutine). I was initially reluctant to drive into the heart of Ft Lee due to traffic and parking concerns but the food was worth the risk. They do a brisk take out business and that may be the way to go because it's not going to impress anyone with its design. (11/30/21) Setting *** Number one, it's hard to find, there isn't really a sign and most of the other store fronts are empty so it led me to think it had closed. Metered parking in front and back but I didn't have a problem finding a spot. Marty's is sort of a sushi place that crashed into a 50's diner that crashed into fast food place and everything got commingled. It is a quick serve take out place but does have limited seating inside. It was obviously a sushi place at some point and as mentioned the place itself is a bit of a confusing mish-mosh of themes. The chairs, tables and floor are run down and don't match the stainless steel wrapped counter. There are effectively two menu boards, one from the 50's and the other is modern and backlit that says the same thing as the other so I'm not sure why they need the two. The outside wall is brick and a lot of windows so it's cold in here today and I assume during cooler months. There is only a shared bathroom in the hallway and it doesn't smell great in there. Service **** Because I had trouble finding the place I called to ask where they were and the guy who answered the phone came to the store window to flag me down as I drove by. There was a stunning woman working the counter who was friendly and efficient. Food **** I ordered the Single Cheeseburger and Fries combo, threw on spicy relish for good measure. In retrospect I should have gone with the double as the meat was sort of lost under everything. With that the said the toppings where all very fresh and the burger was delicious. They make their own fries and although I thought they could use a touch more salt they where incredibly crispy, pillowy soft inside and stayed that way. The presentation has a vibe very similar to Shake Shack with everything having a very visually appealing and instagram-friendly look. But it's not just about the visuals--the chicken sandwiches are juicy, crunchy, and oh so delicious. They use large pieces of thigh meat instead of chicken breast which makes them so much more tasty. I would give a 6/5 if I could. Their other menu items--fries, milkshakes, burgers, and hotdog--are also great, but the chicken sandwich is a must-have. I make sure to order at least 2-3 times a month and quite frankly, so should you. The only minor gripe I have is that the spicy and the regular chicken sandwiches are nearly indistinguishable from one another when packaged. The fries were a big portion! Kind of like five guys, also super tasty and fresh, solid. Usually try a milkshake from new places as well and did the same here, glad I did, strawberry shake was awesome. MILKSHAKES, POUTINE FRIES, BANANA PUDDING= AMAZING. Came here for a late lunch and decided to try a couple items on the menu. We first got the griddle hot dog with sauerkraut and onions; it was good but nothing special; they put too much ketchup for my liking (6.5/10). Also got the hamburger, cheeseburger and The BBQ burger. The meat on all burgers were thin, but still juicy..super good! (8.5/10) We got the poutine fries and regular fries. The gravy was amazing, very flavorful especially with the added cheese curds. Finished one order and had to get another. (9/10) We did get a side of the house sauce (basically mayo) for $0.75 which I also thought was a bit much, should at least come for free as a dipping sauce for the fries. We each got our own milkshakes, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry and WOW. Thick and creamy so good but for $6 it was a very small cup and straw was too thin it wasn't easy to drink because of the thickness. But, flavor wise no complaints. (9.5/10) For dessert we ended with the banana pudding and again WOW. It was so good, had a lot of bananas and cookies, I would say definitely even say it was up there with Magnolia Bakery. (9.5/10) When you walk in appearance is not the greatest, it doesn't make me excited to want to eat inside. There were items everywhere, napkins weren't available in the dispensers on the table, but all could be fixed in the future hopefully. They had self-checkout iPads which I love so I was able to explore the menu and order instead of being confused at the register for our first time. After doing a lot of research online we decided to give this place a try which was 15 mins drive from where we live. We ordered a single burger, double cheese burger, Spicy Crispy fried chicken sandwich, regular fries and old bay fries. Burgers - Reminded me of Shake Shack but better than Shake Shack! the sauce inside of burgers reminded me of in-and out burgers sauce which was super yummy! Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich - So juicy and yummy. Every bite I take it was getting better and better. Spicy sauce was good too. Please note that they might use a dark meat which we didn't mind at all! Fries - Generous portion and still crispy even after we drove back home for 15 mins.
