Was craving sushi and finally got to check this spot out. The menu is pretty big for a sushi restaurant which was surprising. The restaurant is small inside but has patio seating. Since we are getting to colder weather this can be a little bit of a problem as the inside will get more crowded. We were able to seat ourselves anywhere and service was really quick. My husband and I got miso soup each and three rolls to share. It was enough food for two people and pretty reasonably priced. I do feel like because it started to get busy we got rushed out to clear the table for more people. While I understand needing the space it could have been dealt with better. I had tried Maru in East, but hadn't yet tried Maru Nations until a few days ago. After having something to do every single day after work last week, I opted to order in and decided on Maru. I got a miso soup, tempura veggie appetizer, crunch shrimp (which was a BOGO free), and a pink lady roll. I am glad that Maru put the lid on the soup well because it arrived completely upside down, and not a drop spilled. The miso was fine, 2 small pieces of tofu and some green onion. It lack some flavor, even for miso which is typically pretty mild. The tempura veggies only come with 1 piece of each veggie and the asparagus is only 1/2 a stalk - so not the best value only getting 5 items and wouldn't be ideal to share. However, the sauce that came with it was good and had a great level of sweetness. The crunch roll was pretty standard, and needed to be dipped into soy. The Pink Lady roll was my preferred roll. I thought the spicy crab was yummy and enjoyed the sauces on the top. The tuna tasted good as well. Clearly, dining in is always a better experience, but I don't think that would have changed the flavors or portion sizes. Overall, I enjoyed my meal but might order differently next time! read more

Excited to finally try Mary Nations. The parking lot is always full but I caught them when they just opened for a to go order. I called ahead and it was quick and easy. Although the order took a bit longer than estimated I was not disappointed by the freshness of the food. I got the miso soup which was very flavorful and hot. Whoever made the spinach/시금치 blanched it and didn't drain the water all the way. They also didn't flavor it, so it just tated like a pile of mush. The radish, with bare flavor, was also watery. The bulgogi was good though. The chicken katsu: the chicken and the panko mix had no flavor, so my kid didn't eat it after one piece. Was craving sushi and found this place via Yelp. Being new to the area and state with my hometown being in California there are amazing sushi places back home that have set my standards high. The drive wasn't too far and there is accessible onsite parking. I walked in and sat at the bar. My order was taken promptly. To prepare the palate I ordered a Sapporo (Japanese beer) and then proceeded to take my time looking at the menu. In the end I ordered two fried rolls and one salmon lover roll. The portions were generous and the sushi was excellent. I liked the sauce and the flavors which added to the sushi. Pros: food is great and the service prompt. Great atmosphere and vibes. The pricing for 3 different rolls and a beer was around 50 bucks so not the cheapest meal but if you're coming hungry and with others or on a date splitting is not bad. Despite it being a busy evening, we didn't have to wait long for our table. Our server promptly provided us with menus and took our drink orders. The modern rustic decor of the restaurant sets a cozy ambiance, albeit a bit loud. Their extensive menu offers a range of sushi and Japanese cuisine that is sure to please any palate. We sampled several dishes, with a few standouts including beef fried rice, hamachi Kama, and a selection of sushi rolls. The beef fried rice was a flavor-packed dish, perfectly cooked with a fried egg, beef, and mixed vegetables. The Hamachi Kama, also known as yellowtail collar, is a tender cut of meat taken from the space between the gills and the head. Really enjoyed this casual date night spot. The sushi was pretty good and they had a big selection of different rolls to choose from. Garlic and olive oil edamame as a starter was a great way to kick off the meal. Personally, I go for simple sushi and my work colleague went for the gusto. We came in for dinner Tuesday night, right around 6:30 as the dinner rush rolled in. We started off with drinks, no liquor here but a nice selection of beer, wine and sake. I had a Maku Korean rice beer, which I was happy to see on the menu because it's hard to find. We also had a Kirin Ichiban beer and a bottle of Sayuri Nigori to share. For dinner, we ordered two house ginger salads, crispy tuna, pork Gyoza, both yellowtail and salmon nigiri, all to be finished with three specialty sushi rolls. Needless to say we were blown away by our dinner all plates exceeding our expectations. Nashville has become a town full of sushi restaurants tending to overcharge for what you get, but not Maru! We have been looking for a new sushi spot and being less than 10 minutes away we will definitely be returning. They even make me my customer was fabulous and gives me a little bit of that home feel since I can't get it like I used to when I lived in Jackson the people are always amazing. I've gotten takeout from Maru a few times before, and my experience has always been great. The food is always packaged well, prepared quickly, and so far I've never had any mistakes. Everything on the menu is pretty moderately priced in comparison to other sushi places in town as well, which is why this has become a go to spot. I ordered the crunch mania and hot night rolls as well as a side of miso soup. Both rolls were great portion sizes and the fish tasted fresh, especially on the crunch mania. I'm not always a fan of deep fried rolls, but the combination of flavors in the hot night roll were delicious. Miso soup was pretty standard and had good flavor as well. I have yet to eat here in person, but if the takeout is this good I can only imagine how good it must be for dine in. I will definitely be stopping by again soon! read more

Nice casual dining sushi restaurant. They do have a parking lot. The place is always clean. Service is great but I usually set at the bar. I have had many rolls there my only complaint is they don't have many totally raw sushi rolls, many of them have some cooked aspect to them. The chirashi bowl is what I got this visit and it was fantastic, so much I couldn't finish it all. It is a chefs choice bowl and two of mine had been lightly seasoned and seared, all delicious. They have a good saki list too! They also have a Bibimbap bowl that if you dine in you can get in a lava bowl, I highly recommend as it crisps the rice on the edges of the bowl! read more

We really like MARU east Nashville. We decided to give Nations a try. Edamame tasted dried out. It came out hot it was ok but not "yum" - the salmon and yellowtail nigiri I had were not good cuts of fish and the California hand roll was LAME at best. Mostly cucumber - it was small and not prepared like anyone CARED on the sushi line. The other rolls we got were just ok and the cucumber sunomono had a "funny" taste to it -- we couldn't quite figure it out -- the inside is nicer than EAST and this one has COKE products (East has Pepsi) but the sushi is better prepared at EAST. We won't be back at that location but they need to step it up if they're going to survive read more
