I did not order too much from their menu, I just ordered the San Diego deluxe with a side of avocado for my baby. The food did not come out as quick as I thought, but at least it was good. My yardstick was Ricky's Sushi, also in Corona, but relatively new to the area. First impressions: Marui has many things going for it - location, atmosphere, a larger menu, more seating. I was very impressed with the quick service and very pleasant staff and chefs. We ordered a shrimp lovers roll, fried oyster appetizer, Japanese curry pork dinner. Dinner came with a salad (I loved the sesame dressing BTW), soup and rice. The roll was very large, with a generous filling of Krab, not too much rice, beautifully put together, which dispelled some of my concern of the price. However, the chilled filleted shrimp on top was a disappointment, not sweet and fresh. The oysters were nice but not great. The curry pork was good and was cooked perfectly. But overall, something was missing. And that I have to blame on my other place, Ricky's Sushi. Ricky's sauces are over the top memorable, his fish is sweet, bought-that-day-fresh, the rice is much more flavorful, the presentations stunning. Honestly, we did not try Marui's sashimi as a comparison. I let hubby have his say first. He said, hands-down, Rickys. I agreed. Granted, Ricky's has its shortcomings (longer wait, lesser ambiance, smaller menu). But, my fellow Yelpers, it is my humble opinion that Ricky's is the big winner in the food department. I had it the other day at another place and I wanted more- he hooked it up. Next was the Spicy Chirashi bowl. Omg. This is the BEST salad I've ever had. It had layers: rice on the bottom, then fresh mixed greens with thinly sliced apples and delightful pops of flavor from the pickled radishes. So good. It was all topped w a variety of chopped sashimi; tuna, yellowtail, salmon and something else. It was so good. We finished with yellowtail sashimi for a perfect ending to our delicious meal. I came in for dinner on a Saturday night with a friend who raved about the place. I read the reviews on yelp before going in and was looking forward to trying it out. As soon as I came in I was greeted and seated. Our waitress was really nice and so were the sushi chefs. Periodically they would even stop to take shots with people which I thought was really cool. We started off with the heart attack and that was actually my favorite thing out of everything we ordered. It had lots of flavour and I love that the jalapeños tasted super fresh and crispy. I ordered the oh wow roll as well as the sashimi option A. I was really mad at myself for forgetting to ask for soy paper instead of the sea weed so I didn't get to enjoy the oh wow roll as much as I wanted to since the sea weed make it chewy and gooey but that was my fault. The sashimi was ok but the reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it was cut way too thick. It always tastes better cut thinner and the albacore and ahi were a little tough. Sushi seem old and tired. Udon soup should be called mushroom flavored water. Tonkatsu mushy on inside and taste a little off or undercooked. Marui has great food and they've had my favorite sushi available, Uni, every time we've dined here. Oftentimes, other sushi restaurants either don't have Uni on their menu, or just don't have it available, when I REALLY need to have it. Marui gets 5 stars for putting the extra effort into making this a very special 19th birthday for my daughter, Leianna, on December 6th. We didn't even ask the staff to arrange anything in advance, but only mentioned her birthday in a casual conversation with our server, when we placed our orders. We all got a big surprise, when the staff turned down the lights, made a loud announcement to the entire restaurant, sang a special birthday song for her, and presented her with a birthday dessert big enough to feed our family! Marui Marui...how I have come to LOVE thee. Since my first visit here, hubs, baby and I have become regulars. The staff is friendly, and they try to be attentive. The rolls are just delicious, the fish is really fresh. The meat for the bento box is always good. The beef teriyaki is great, and they even have the short ribs (Korean BBQ) yum! Went here on a Sunday lunch. [first time] I tried their bento $15 for 3 items. I ordered Sashimi, cali roll, and teriyaki salmon comes with salad, miso soup, and rice. The quality of the fish was great! It was fresh and the teriyaki salmon was well-seasoned and not dry. Restaurant was clean. Staff was average but the food was so fresh and that's the quality i always look for my fish. Next time I'll try their sushi and rolls. i love to come to this place because of the food. the sushi is always fresh and food comes in pretty fast each time i've come here. my only issue is the service. the staff seems to prioritize their regulars and always try to get me and anyone i come with out of there asap. which isn't very pleasing. the other day i came in with a friend and instead of refilling our waters or if we wanted anything else, we were immediately handed with a receipt. like? we wanted to get dessert. lol. the waitress was even waiting for us to fill in the receipt. but other than that the food is great. read more

We have been coming here for over 10 years, probably 40+ times. Never been unhappy or dissatisfied with the Sushi or service. We always order sashimi and a roll or two. The fish is always fresh and tasty - the Blue Fin sahsimi is the best. They have fresh wasabi root and it compliments the sashimi very well. We are treated like family with hello's and hugs from everyone - its nice to be a regular and enjoy dinner so close to home. Such a wonderful sushi place. During this COVID-19 time I was trying to find a way to feel like I can still enjoy food. Marui's sushi was able to do just that for me. The customer service is phenomenal and the portion size of the sushi given is amazing! My favorite roll from there is their corona roll!! I highly recommend you check them out. As someone who's very picky about the sushi places I go to, honestly I think I found my new sushi spot. I have also tried their Hawaiian and rainbow roll (a must have for me) and they're just as equally delicious!! By far, my favorite Japanese eatery in Corona! We've been coming here since its opened. Bruce is funny and Grace is so sweet. She always stops by our table and gives us a warm sincere greeting. They treat their guest as though you are special. Occasionally, we get surprised with a chef complimentary appetizer. The food is very good and the wait staff has improved a lot since its first opened. We've celebrated birthdays there and brought in our own cake. We then like to pass out any extra cake we have to the other diners because the atmosphere there is like that - open and friendly. If you do have a celebration - they do ask you call in ahead so they can reserve the table space for your group. I like the Bento Boxes - usually get the salmon Teri and crunch roll combo. In the colder months - I enjoy a bowl of hot Udon (noodles) - I like the veggie one. Husband likes the volcano roll - they actually light this roll on fire and serve it to you with the flame still a' blazin'!!! I think if you tried this place - you would like it too!!! read more

This place has really good sushi that is generous on portions. Had a sashimi salad which was fantastic. Also had a spicy tuna hand roll and tuna and salmon sushi; all really good. It didn't seem like a lot of food but when I was done I was plenty full. I often frequent all you can eat sushi and for the price I pay here, I'd say there was not much difference of the amount of food for the price but the quality was much higher. read more
