Never feel one byte of disappointment of this place. Starting from the sweet and warm greetings upon entering the premises until the great meal we enjoyed. We did ordered the 'tempura veggie' and also the Marui Combo (kinda surprise menu from assorted chosen sushi from the Chef). Veggie Paradise (Tempura Veggie) is crunch and delish while the assortment sushi was nice and a lot for $30. The meal we ordered good for 2 people and we felt full. Additionally there is promo going on 50% off on sake & beer that time. So we got Large Sake for $5. Vibe was great there was TV showing the soccer game with some upbeat music in the background. Everything went great and we are glad to be returning again when in the area!

    Beautiful chirashi bowl

Well sorry to say, that Marui has closed their doors after 19 years. It's not because they weren't doing great! Some unforeseen circumstances have happened and are going to spend quality time together. We will miss our Marui family dearly! Sending prayers

I was working in Corona, and my brother who happens to live there, decided to have lunch here at Marui Sushi. I am a big sushi guy so I said yeah let's go. Really convenient spot with lots of parking. The restaurant is pretty big for a sushi place, a lot of tables and a couple of booths inside, sushi bar as well if you want to see your fresh sashimi being made. Japanese ladies are all pretty friendly and attentive. They're all working together taking orders and bringing food to the tables, teamwork which is really good. For starters we got some miso soup, shrimp tempura and fried calamari. They top the calamari with red onions which is new to me, never had it like that but it's a good touch. Gives the calamari an extra crunchiness and well as some tanginess. The sauce that came with it was good. The shrimp tempura was amazing, the tempura batter was perfection. Super crunchy and tasty, I just thought the tempura sauce needed a lot more flavor. Super simple and blunt sauce. Ended up using the calamari sauce which had a bit more flavor. Miso was just, miso soup. Simple but good. For our rolls we got the shrimp lovers roll and the baked scallops roll. Shrimp roll was good, they just forgot to top it with the tempura flakes which was supposed to have, makes a huge difference! Gotta pay attention on that. The baked scallops roll was definitely the winner tho. Scallops were fresh, I could really taste that sea side on them. Rolls were pretty big, nice portions, that's why we had no space for dessert. Cool and friendly spot, if I lived in the area I'd definitely come back.

We got here a little late after a baseball game. Only place open past 9pm. We walked in with 5 adults and 6 kids...service was great! Both women that helped us did a great job of making sure we didn't feel rushed or uncomfortable for walking in a little bit before they closed! Ambiance was a cool sushi spot, nothing crazy but very inviting nonetheless! Best part was the food! We had spicy garlic edamame, sashimi, sushi, teriyaki plates, gyoza...the sushi and sashimi pieces were amazingly fresh and such big pieces! Icing on the cake and the cherry on top was alcohol and hot sake was 50% off! We will see u soon Marui!

Was in the area waiting for a service to be done on my car and decided to have lunch here. We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth. My husband and I both opted for lunch combinations, which were served with miso soup and steamed rice. I chose teriyaki salmon and sashimi (tuna and salmon). The teriyaki salmon was perfectly cooked with a slight charred/grilled flavor that I enjoy; and the sashimi was fresh and tasty as well. Portion was perfect and filling for lunch and we both left satisfied. Marui is a hidden gem!

Don't sleep on this location. Our sushi was bomb. We ordered the crunchy rolls , miso soups, and heart attack (jalapeño). Service was great. Our food came quickly. We took food to go and even reheated it was really good.

They didn't offer to answer any questions or go over any specials or happy hour options. Miso soup was so bland I was convinced it was vegan and didn't have any fish paste in the ingredients. All our rolls were disappointing. The seaweed had a smell to it that wasn't very fresh smelling and the texture was rubbery. My son couldn't even finish his rolls because of it. Veggie roll was not wrapped tightly at all so it all fell apart instantly. Thai coconut roll had zero flavor except the massive amount of peanut sauce they added into the roll itself for some reason. The description made it sound as if that would be more of a side dipping sauce. So I couldn't taste the coconut shrimp part of it at all. The price was pretty high for what we got. Sushi isn't a cheap meal option, I get that, but for the service and our order, $80 seems excessive. Would not return. Would not recommend. I'm sure we maybe caught them on a bad day for lunch but when it's a 1st time experience, there's no reason to return.

The ramen had shredded lettuce in it, which was weird, and the egg was not marinated at all - just a bland hard boiled egg. Soup and noodles were meh. Her bento came without any sauce on the chicken and the chicken was very dry. Looked like sliced chicken breast with some salt and pepper and not grilled like it was before. Service was ok; most likely won't return.

We originally planned to eat at the dumpling spot next door, but we were starving and didn't want…read moreto wait. Yoshioishi Sushi & Ramen had solid reviews, so we decided to pivot and give it a try. First impression: the menu is extensive. It's one of those places where you almost don't know where to start. The fan favorites are marked with a red flower, which helped narrow things down. We also asked our server for suggestions, which made it easier to navigate. We arrived just before 5pm and there was only one other table. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like. By the time we left, the restaurant was filling up and it seemed like there were quite a few regulars coming in. Here's what we tried: Salted edamame: Just average. A bit limp and not as crisp as I'm used to, so they didn't feel especially fresh. Gyoza: Really nice flavor and the dipping sauce was well balanced. These were solid. Yellowtail jalapeño sashimi: This was different in a good way. It had cilantro and a slightly sweeter sauce instead of the traditional garlic ponzu. Unexpected, but a pleasant surprise. Crispy chicken karaage: Slightly over fried but still flavorful. The dipping sauce helped. Crispy rice with spicy tuna: Just okay. One piece barely had tuna on top. Not bad, but not something I'd reorder. Cucumber salad: Served on a bed of iceberg lettuce, which surprised us, but the dressing had great flavor. This disappeared quickly. Nigiri: The salmon was incredibly fresh and one of the highlights. The albacore and toro came topped with fresh wasabi, which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed the salmon and albacore. The toro didn't quite melt in your mouth like we hoped. It was a bit chewy. Crazy Salmon Roll: Good flavor, but note that the salmon on the outside is fully cooked. We expected raw, so just something to keep in mind. Snow Mountain Roll: A fan favorite at the table. Great texture and flavor. Plain udon and plain ramen: Both were excellent. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We definitely over ordered, but we left very full. One small detail for fellow tea lovers: I always look forward to hot tea at a Japanese restaurant, especially when it's served in a small pot you can refill at the table. Here it was hot water with a tea bag in a metal cup, which was too hot to comfortably hold, and there was no teapot provided. Not a deal breaker, but next time I'd probably skip the tea. Service was strong. In addition to our main server, two other team members checked in and refilled water regularly, which we appreciated. Overall, I'd call it a 3.5 if that were an option, so I'm landing at 3 stars. The food was decent, the atmosphere comfortable, and the service attentive. It didn't completely wow us, but we're glad we tried it.

Let's just say its good that they offer a wide variety of sushi, rolls, and ramen but the flavor is under par. Plus the high prices make it hard to enjoy. Indoor restaruant was dark and didn't have a bright welcoming ambiance. Staff was quick to speak to us and get us seated which was good. The Crunch Onion Albacore was around $18 and it was Ok tasting. I have had fresher albacore before. Their avocado salad $8 was surprisingly tasty so I will definitely get this one again. Apparenlty they charge $3 for a side of white rice. Their Tonkotsu ramen for $16 was OK as well. Not hot ramen but served a bit lukewarm. Not sure what was going on but in a way I can eat it right away but I am used to having it piping hot with steam and a richer flavor. Also got their green tea $3.50 and ice water but the service in refilling the water was slow, especcially with an empty restaurant. Yikes! All in all, it was my first time here. I did see them having a Happy Hour special so I will try that next time.
