This place has really good sushi that is generous on portions. Had a sashimi salad which was fantastic. Also had a spicy tuna hand roll and tuna and salmon sushi; all really good. It didn't seem like a lot of food but when I was done I was plenty full. I am a huge sushi fan... and this little joint have the freshest sashimi around. And don't get me started on the uni, it is so fresh! Most places the uni, you can taste it start to go bad but the uni here, every time I have been there it is top of the line. Usually I just sit that the sushi bar and order a lot. Went to this spot this week.....best sushi spot as far as I can tell. I used to work as a sushi chef in Vegas and trust me, I know quality fish when I see it. Marui Sushi truly knows the essence of what sushi is. Even though it was take-out, it blew me out the water. After being on the hunt for a great sushi place, Yelp led me here for the first time today! This place did NOT disappoint! Not only is the fish some of the freshest I've tasted, you cannot beat the value here! We ordered the baked lobster roll, the Marui crunch roll, the avocado delight roll, and 3 miso soups. The rolls are huge and the miso soup has the best flavor I've ever tasted in miso soup! The whole staff is very friendly and I was told this place has been there for 16 years with the same owner. I can't believe that I've lived in the Corona/Riverside area for 18 years and I've never tried this place before today!! I've been missing out! This place is soooo good. I don't actually like sushi but I got this dinner plate where I chose two entrees so I got the California rolls and teriyaki chicken. I actually love the California roll and my boyfriend got a godzilla roll and it's amazing. This place is wayyy better than RA Sushi, they're less expensive, and they are more attentive to you. Kieu was our server tonight and he is super nice and fun to talk to. Hands down my new favorite sushi place. Update: so I came here again the next day lol the owner opens in the morning and makes the rolls fresh everyday. It just got better. You can tell he makes the food with love and passion. I was mislead by the many 4 star reviews. Right when we walked in, it took them 5 minutes to seat us even though it was 3pm in the afternoon with plenty of open tables. Then the waiter tells us to take a seat. He explains that he will be right with us. While we are waiting for our menus and service, our waiter prioritizes cleaning the other tables and ringing up checks. We had to get up and get our own menus. While we were waiting for waters, our waiter decides to go drink with other customers at the sushi bar and clean up some more. We ordered the small sashimi and bento box lunch. The small sashimi was a disappointment. It seemed like the sushi was partially frozen. Also my girlfriend found plastic in it. The beef teriyaki was served cold. When I arrived, my order was not ready after 40 minutes. The two guys making the rolls were chatting it up and laughing with a guy at the sushi bar. I added cream cheese to my veggie roll, which they charged extra for, and they didn't even put it in. I went to this place with the wife and kid. The place was alright . Our first sit in restaurant since the covid pandemic . We ordered 3 rolls a couple hand rolls and bento for the little one. The sushi rolls were pretty light compared to most sushi restaurants we go to . No Happy Hour drinks special. Only could get hot sake and it was just okay. Had to order a large beer so I could make my own sake bombs. The owner and the sushi chef were very friendly but the staff barely understood what we asked. This was the first time here, for me. Every sushi roll We ordered was really good. The environment was very welcoming. It happened to be the owners 60th birthday last night and I have to say they made the customers feel apart of the celebration by extending the invitation to the customers (in the restaurant) to join in the festivities. We all sang Happy Birthday, and ate Korean food for the birthday boy and his guest. What a warm gesture. At these two places you will find toro, spanish mackeral, uni and other exotic fishes no one else offers. If you are one that only like rolls and fusion and all you can eat, then you are not qualified to rate sushi restaurants!! When you walk into this place, you will notice many Asians eating here for a reason. you will also see their specials listed and those are items such as blue fin toro and such. You don't find quality sushi anywhere else but at this place and Kawa. Please don't rate a place down because it doesn't offer all you can eat sub par sushi or because you don't like one of their rolls. There simply is no better sushi restaurant than the two places I've mentioned. All else is for the masses that think a california roll is sushi. read more
