We had heard good things about this local coffee chain, so we decided to give it a try during a shopping trip to Ala Moana. It's a little tricky to find, but that seemed to be a theme at this rather poorly labeled mall which had few directories. Eventually we found it, though! It's quite small with only a few tables, but the decor is very cool and Hawaiian inside. The staff were also very friendly and explained different aspects of the various beverage since this was our first time visiting. I had the frozen banana kona mocha which was really pleasant and extremely refreshing on a warm tropical day after strolling around this largely open air mall. The drink was extremely smooth and refreshing, although I will say it was a bit light on the banana flavor but still very good overall! I went to Island vintage every day of my trip in Hawaii and I have no regrets! The coffee here is AMAZING the Island latte is 100% the move. I tried this location and the royal Hawaiian one and personally like this one more (it's less busy and the coffee is stronger whereas my friend and I felt like the royal hawaiian one was a bit milky). Heads up that there's usually a line at this location. Their original acai bowl is my favorite on the island. This time around I ordered their cacao moana acai bowl. It's blended well and not icy. With every bite, you'll get a different texture from the fruit, granola, cacao, and the almond butter. They are super generous with the granola. I loved how they line the bottom with granola as well. I still prefer the original. I don't recommend studying at this location since the noise level is super loud being next to centerstage and space is tight as well. Staff could be more friendlier and welcoming but I understand that it's super busy which can be overwhelming. I am very disappointed with the customer service and overall experience I received today. My friend went up to order, and while I was sitting at the table, I could clearly hear one of the workers rudely say, "No cash," very loudly. That already left a bad impression. I ordered an acai bowl and immediately noticed that it was extremely melted. At first, I thought maybe just the top had melted, but once I started mixing it, I realized the entire bowl was basically liquid and completely soupy. I went up to the same worker to explain the issue, and she told me that this was "normal" because it was hot inside. I pointed out that the other acai bowl we ordered was noticeably less melted, so that explanation didn't really make sense. Instead of trying to help or offer a solution, she responded with, "I don't know what to do for you," and came across as extremely rude and dismissive. After waiting for the line to go down, I decided I would rather just get a refund. While I was at the counter, a different worker said the acai bowl had been ordered 30 minutes earlier which I'm unsure was because they were pinpointing what we ordered or to give a reason as to why it melted. We explained that we had tried to address the issue earlier, but we were shut down when we first complained. I also overheard the same girl telling another employee that it was 80° inside the store. Even so, the other customers acai bowls looked completely fine, which made it even harder to understand why mine was essentially soup. The biggest issue for me wasn't even the melted bowl, it was the way the situation was handled. Mistakes happen, and I would have been much more understanding if the employee had simply acknowledged the problem and tried to help. Instead, I felt dismissed and treated rudely when I was just trying to address an issue with something I had paid for. Unfortunately, the customer service completely ruined the experience, and I left very disappointed. read more

The food and coffee are hands down amazing! The location is perfect and easy to get to if you're walking around Waikiki. Now for the only downside--the line can get very long. The good news is that it moves pretty quickly. The wait really begins after you place your order. This location is incredibly busy from open to close, especially in the mornings. I visited several times during my week in Waikiki, and every morning it was consistently packed. I waited anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes for our food and coffee each visit. Also, be aware that the coffee and food are brought out separately, so don't expect everything to arrive at the same time. The space itself could really use a remodel. Since it's both a café and a retail shop, there's very little room for customers waiting on orders. It gets extremely crowded, making it difficult to find a comfortable place to stand while you wait. My friends and I came here almost every day when we were visiting. Their espresso drinks are really solid and their haupia hojicha is the hidden gem that everyone forgets but NEEDS to try. Drink prices are on the higher end but you usually get what you pay for. Also, most of the employees here are friendly, but there's one employee that gives major passive aggressive 'tude (hence minus 1 star). Story time on this employee: So I've gotten the hot haupia hojicha at their wine & bar location as well as here several times, but this time when my friend and I get the drink, it's cold instead of hot. We kindly ask if we can get it hot and the employee says they don't make it like that and just looks at us. A little bit of staring back and forth ensues, then we told her we got it yesterday from this location - hot - and also from the wine & bar location a week prior - also hot. She then backtracks and claims we didn't order it that way (we did) then just stands and looks at us again. Another round of eye karate and she begrudgingly relents and says "ok I'll make it for you this way this time but just so you know it comes cold." ...Okay mam calm your horses, this is literally the 6th time we're getting this drink. Cappuccino ($6) - Much to my dismay the coffee was bitter and not really bold in terms of taste nor was it creamy. It was a huge disappointment and a total waste of money. Overall, I wouldn't stop by this location for coffee.
