I can't comment on the food here because we just walked out. When we walked in with 2 kids and a baby in tow the waitress said "are you serious, I said no kids". So then when the hostess came to get a high chair she said to the hostess "No Kids". So we walked out. I hope the management understands our decision and fixes the issue with that server. read more

It's very hard to write a review like this but, I have to be honest. My wife and I are here in wildwood on vacation. Our normal breakfast place was closed. We always pass this place and thought" why not" first the staff is friendly and attentive. It'd the food that missed the mark. I ordered a Bacon and cheese omelet, my wife ordered pancakes and Turkey Bacon. My omelet was decent. I liked it just was a typical omelet. Came with lots of tarot tots. My wife's pancakes on the other hand..she said they were dry. I tried them and she was correct. It sucked the moisture out of my mouth. Even covered in syrup. It pretty much ruined the meal for her. Very busy like everything in Wildwood in the summer but we didn't have to wait very long. We all had breakfast, my son was excited to see Chocolate Chip pancakes, M&M pancakes, Oreo pancakes, and Brownie pancakes. The food was pretty good, everyone liked what they got. My husband and I shared The Jackpot breakfast (2 pancakes, 2 French toasts, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 4 pieces of bacon and Home fries.) It was good but big enough for 3 people! If I could give no stars, I would. I went in for dinner with little to no wait. Ordered onion rings and French onion soup as an appetizer, received only the onion rings(which were anything but delicious) they came out soft greasy and moist. Then maybe two minutes after getting the onion rings our entire food order followed. Kelly our waitress was kind in getting the onion soup off the bill, however when I protested the mischarge on our bill (my fiancé ordered a Bacon avocado grilled cheese with chicken), that was rung in improperly, the owner who was sitting on the back booth on the far right side of the restaurant decided it was too much trouble for him to fix the bill. So I had to wait up front for the waitress to go back-and-forth to his table asking him to fix a charge on the bill and finally after the fourth visit to his table he came to the front to correct the problem. When he came to the front he was, to say the least inconsiderate And unapologetic, telling me that I don't work in a restaurant and that I don't know how much things cost etc etc. long an behold we left and will never return to this subpar diner. It's not hard to get diner food right, you just need to not cut corners when purchasing food and I felt that that is what this owner was doing in particular. Everything tasted cheap and if you eat out in nice restaurants do not go here. As a sidenote I feel that I should mention we went in for dinner, so maybe the breakfast is different however I wouldn't even give them a second shot if you paid me. read more

On vacation at the crest I ate breakfast in five different places by far Marvis Diner was the best. A beautifully retro diner which features both inside and outdoor seating and A very diverse menu.we ate there twice food was fresh with large portions and was reasonably priced. Stopped in here this afternoon for lunch (some of us had breakfast) and we enjoyed the atmosphere. It was a little too crowded for my liking but the rest of my group seemed ok. I got the grilled chicken cesaer wrap and it was good but I wasn't a fan of the lettuce they put in the wrap. It was like yellow and didn't taste fresh. Their fries were really good though. We ate here today, at 12:00. The hostess was friendly and we were seated immediately. Service was prompt and the food was pretty quick. The home fries are fanfreakingtastic. And I don't even like home fries. I ordered the French toast and turkey bacon. I like my bacon a bit crispier, which I guess I could have told them, but I really didn't think to mention at the time. Tried this place out rather than uncle Bills. Would not recommend. First they ran out of sausage because it's the "end of the season". There was lipstick on my water glass. This place is my go to place when I go to the shore. I was just there this past Memorial day weekend and I took my parents who really enjoyed it as well. We have been here so many times I don't know why I waited so long to write this. Marvi's, by far, is our favorite diner on the island. Service always is very good; I have NEVER been disappointed with it. The food is very typical diner fare. However, the quality is high, always hot when it reaches you and so good.. Portions are, well, you're not going home hungry. I know diner reviews can be very subjective. The difference with Marvi's (and yes it's Mar-vee's) is it's consistency. That's the key for me with diners. I can walk in any time and pretty much guarantee my meal will be spot on. Give them a try - you will not be disappointed. read more

Went for lunch with three generations of family. Mavis is definitely a kid friendly restaurant. It is a typical NJ diner so there is something on their menu to please everyone. M'Lady and I stopped by Sunday 8/23/15 a bit before 1pm. The wait for a couple wasn't too bad - 30 minutes or so. The parking, however (as with pretty much all Wildwood eateries and establishments) was relatively non-existent at this time of day. Our iced tea had a background flavor with which we were not familiar. The ice water was refreshing and tasty. Her coffee, she claimed, was brown water and lacking in the correct diner coffee "oomph". My waffle with bananas and strawberries didn't need butter or syrup (which is good, because the tiny tumbler of syrup I was given wouldn't have done much to the waffle). The waffle itself was perfectly cooked and shaped, and the fresh fruit atop weren't browned or "old". My side of scrapple (well done) was thicker than expected, but I'm not complaining because hey, scrapple, amirite? Her meat lovers' omelette with cheddar cheese was good and had a nice amount of the respective meats but needed salt. However her rye toast was basically dry, and she received no butter for it (not even after asking for some.) I gave her mine from my waffle. The home fries were basic fried potatoes with nothing but "grill flavor". Salt and ketchup didn't help much. Worst service ever... the manager on duty (Red curly hair) was VERY RUDE and disrespectful. We understand Friday nights are busy and for a party of ten i'm sure it was more overwhelming. This lady yelled at us in front of all the other guest waiting and completely embarrassed us in front of our children. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Prior to ordering the Greek Kabab dinner, I asked the server if it was beef or lamb. She assured me that it was lamb. When my meal arrived it appeared that I had received the wrong order. The meat on my plate resembled three large sausages, rather than the lamb that I had anticipated. When I informed the server that I may have received the wrong order, she stated that it was correct. As the conversation escalated, she agreed to ask the manager to remove the cost of the meal from my bill. She returned to tell us that he would not and once again, I asked if the meal was actually lamb. She then informed me that it was actually a mixture of lamb and beef. When the manager approached our table, he insisted that what he had served were kababs and that I should not have expected anything else (however, some research on my part revealed that what he had actually served were Seekh Kababs, an Indian dish made with a mixture of beef and mutton... not at all what I had ordered). He also insisted that I would have to pay a partial payment for the meal, but only if I agreed to purchase another meal at full price. I refused and informed him that we were leaving. He then called the local police and informed them that a customer was attempting to "skip out on their bill." I spoke into the phone and informed the police that I would await their arrival and file my own complaint. Finally, after pointing his finger at my wife and ordering her to "sit down and eat your meal," I negotiated an alternate solution with him. He charged us full price for my wife's meal (which was actually what she ordered, so I had no objection) and removed my meal from the tab. Terrible, terrible, terrible experience. It ruined our whole evening. Customers should not be treated with skepticism. They should be treated with respect and servers should be knowledgeable of menu items. Very disappointing... read more

My son and I visited this place for dinner week. The fried shrimp he ordered was not bad, though not inexpensive. I ordered what turned out to be the absolute most disgusting meat loaf I have ever eaten anywhere. It was dry, burnt at the edges and served with a canned gravy on top which actually made it worse. The meatloaf tasted non ketchup based, again was horribly dry and tasted burnt, as if it had been re-heated badly. It most definitely had no freshness whatsoever to it and I told my son this was more suited to dog food. He tasted it also and agreed it was terrible. I should have complained when I was there and sent it back, at minimum, but I didn't because my son asked me not to because he felt embarrassed over the thought of me complaining. I barely ate any of it as he told me he was full and split his shrimp with me. I wrote the diner upon my return home from their webpage contact form and told them what I said here about the meatloaf and asked that my dinner be refunded. They did not reply. They have a weird menu. It is not diner-like at all. They don't even offer thousand island dressing as they seem to think they are upscale and foodie with some sort of a greek twist. Example, they don't have french fries, they have "pommes frites". I found the experience obviously to be a total disappointment and based on their lack of response to my email they don't care in the least that they served me absolute garbage, My son, 29, is a foodie who regularly dines at recognized restaurants in DC, meaning sophisticated to the locals, and he told me that Marvis is trying to be something they clearly are not. Skip it. (If you want the best seafood in Wildwood, drive down Pacific Ave-Wildwood Crest to the Fish Factory. It's literal top grade seafood and very affordable) read more
