PrimoHoagies: A Fine Sandwich with Financial Aspirations There are occasions when "tasty" is an inadequate word, rather like describing the Atlantic Ocean as slightly damp. The hoagies at Primo were delicious. My son went with the Pepperoni & Cheese, exercising the sort of sound judgment that comes naturally to a young man who understands that pepperoni and cheese have been getting along splendidly for generations and require very little adult interference. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the traditional Italian, which was exactly what an Italian hoagie ought to be: substantial, flavorful, properly constructed, and capable of making you forget, at least temporarily, that civilization has produced meetings, passwords, and automated telephone menus. The size was decent, not enormous enough to require planning permission, but certainly enough to constitute lunch. The bread, meats, cheese, and proportions all worked together rather nicely, and there was no sense that someone in the kitchen had merely introduced the ingredients and hoped they would sort matters out amongst themselves. Parking was available, which deserves more praise than it sounds like it should. In modern America, finding a proper sandwich and somewhere to leave the motorcar at the same time can occasionally feel like receiving two separate acts of Providence. Then came the price. Primo is rather proud of its hoagies, and the cash register appears to share that pride. The pricing was higher than I expected for what is, when all the poetry has been removed, a sandwich. A very fine sandwich, certainly. A delicious sandwich, unquestionably. But nevertheless a sandwich, and there comes a moment when one begins wondering whether the provolone has acquired a brokerage account. That is the peculiar contradiction of PrimoHoagies. The meal gives you very little to complain about until the bill arrives and reminds you that excellence, apparently, has been indexed to inflation. Would I return? Absolutely. The Italian was delicious, my son was delighted with his Pepperoni & Cheese, the portions were respectable, parking was painless, and the whole experience was pleasantly straightforward. But I would return knowing that Primo is not competing with the humble neighborhood sandwich shop on price. They have apparently decided the hoagie has reached middle management and deserves compensation accordingly. Excellent food. Decent portions. Convenient parking. Just bring a slightly more optimistic view of what a sandwich ought to cost. read more

Subpar sandwiches - maybe a level above Subway and below Jersey Mikes lol! We ordered sandwiches to go which cost $50 ish - small turkey with provolone and primo mild Italian sub, Gatorade, starry night and large bag of real chips. Both sandwiches were very disappointing and overpriced for what was delivered. I ordered delivery and my food came much faster than the scheduled time. There are a ton of places to get hoagies and sandwiches in Wildwood and the Crest. Primos used to be my go-to place but just disappointing now. Its seems that their motto is now let's charge more each year and cut back on the product. It seems like the quality can really vary by location, but for what they charge for one of their hoagies the Crest location really needs to step up their game. read more

Always our go to spot for lunch for years. We were a little disappointed with this weeks order as the hero's we ordered were light on the meats or cole slaw on the schwartz's For example ordered the Italian Primo size hero and there was only one slice of salami across the sandwich. We were going to order on line but since several past orders the hero's were not cut we purposely called in the order and specifically asked all 7 hero's to be cut. We got the delivery and not one was cut. Come on guys, every hero regardless of size should be cut. That's a staple of a good deli. Their sandwiches are great, hence why we keep giving them so many chance BUT this is my 3rd order in the last 10 days and every order has been completely wrong or delivered 2.5 hrs later (had an hour time frame for delivery.) We have been ordering sandwiches for years from this location, but this years staff is TERRIBLE, I know employees are hard to find right now, but I don't think it's too difficult to follow an online order. There's a reason why you only seem to see locals coming in and out of this place. This place is a true GEM close to the boardwalk, beach, and chain of hotels on the waterfront. Hubby ran in while I sat in the car, and ordered an Italian meat sandwich with some spicy cubes cheddar cheese to chase it down with. We waited about 20 minutes or so, but honestly - it's well worth the wait! I was pretty excited to rip and tear into the sandwich right then and there in the car, but we decided to eat it like human beings back at the hotel. The bread...good LORD the bread! There's nothing NOT to like about what this place offers. The sandwich was decently loaded with cold cuts, and if one was truly hungry enough, you could polish off the whole thing yourself; no regrets. My wife and I ordered 2 Primo sized sandwiches. Just as many other reviewers experienced, the rolls were not fresh, the amount of meat was noticeably less than other Primo sandwiches we've had, and we each had 1 single slice of cheese. Unacceptable for the price paid. You would think the owner/manager would fix the issues after seeing so many of the same negative reviews. read more

I ordered an Italian hoagie. Most of the hoagie was Capicola. There was a sliver of provolone cheese. This cheese was sliced so thin, I could not taste it at all. There was supposed to be prosciutto. One half of my hoagie had absolutely none and the other half had two tiny shavings approximately an inch long. There was also barely any Genoa salami. Basically, I had a capicola on a roll sandwich. This was a sad excuse for a hoagie! I used to make hoagies in college in downtown Philadelphia so I know what is right and what is wrong. I know meats should be measured for each sandwich. Clearly either the meats and cheeses were not measured or Primo has gone downhill. I grew up around the corner from the original Primo. These franchises are a far cry from how The original was. I am now a resident here and am sad to say, I wouldn't spend my money here again unless changes are made. I suggest ordering extra cheese so you can at least taste it. Service was quick. I love primos and frequent them wherever I am. I usually get the crusher as I live the pepper shooters. This location has been a disappointment. The last two times I got crushers here they had wilted red peppers with little to no provolone / prosciutto. read more

This is our first stop every summer upon our arrival to Wildwood Crest. Saturday, June 25th, 1 p.m.: Stopped in for two Italians and the young people working there were right on point (even though some were being trained) and had a fast moving assembly line. Look, this is a busy a place (with good reason), so I don't expect fake smiles and idle chit-chat, just efficiency. People shouldn't confuse this with rudeness. Anyway, these hoagies hold up well and are great for slicing down while drinking down the shore at night. Get your oil on the side, which they provide in neat, little packs. They told Grubhub I wasn't answering and of their calls and I put the wrong number in but magically found my number while I was on the phone trying to cancel my order. They delivered and told me, again, I must have put the wrong number in when I didn't even enter a number. Super great to try to blame your customer for crappy service. Super Expensive!! Food is mediocre, at best. Lack of any semblance of Customer Service is another glaring issue here. Employees don't smile, don't even say 'thank you' and they got our order wrong. The sandwiches weren't bad. We were looking for a place to pick up some to bring out on the beach and this place popped up. We figured we would try it out. In all honesty as long as it was better that subway I would be happy. I come from a town we're for 5 bucks gets you a sandwich with a pound of meat on it from a deli, none of that bs counting how many slices. I got just a regular Italian. Whoever made it put a decent amount of meat on it so it wasn't just bread. The only thing is wish they did add was a little more oil and vinegar. And I asked for no onions but they're we're some, looked like they went to put some then took them off but forgot a couple pieces. All in all I would go back next time I'm in wildwood. Had the tuna diablo primo-size for 2 to go and it was only a few minutes wait. The girl behind the counter warned it was 2 feet so I was really expecting something 2 feet with a lot of meat(tuna) like what the subs look like in their pictures but it wasn't even close. For $20, it should have been but it was more like 2 $5 subway footlongs. It was a good sub though. The bread wasn't hard, the tuna looked better than the canned tuna, and the spices were spot-on with just the right amount of kick. For lunch, I only ate a quarter but I could have definitely finished my half. My son ate his half no problem. It was a good sub, but for $20 (others are more) I was definitely expecting a little bit more in quantity. I may try another location that's not in a tourist area, but I don't think I'll be back in this one...the price just wasn't justified. read more

Wonderful staff! I was on a mini vacay in Wildwood. Wanted to buy a couple sandwiches to hold us at the beach thru out the day- when my card was coming up declined! Turns out- some scum bucket had a duplicate card with my numbers on it and bought almost $200 worth of stuff at a convenience store! The staff at Primos gave me directions to a reputable ATM, which was conveniently located next to my bank and held the order for me. I came back- the gentleman who I assumed was the owner or at least a manager was very kind and made sure I got everything taken care of! They held the sandwiches for me and we were able to complete the transaction. The sandwiches (Audie; Ham) were awesome and the staff were extremely kind during that embarrassing ordeal. I'm not really a big cold cut person in general, but to me Primo is the best you can get! I love coming here when I'm in WWC in the summer. They use Thumann's meats which is my favorite brand. Their seeded bread is so good and really enhances their sandwiches. I also love getting their eggplant cutlet sandwich and eggplant parm! The quality of the eggplant is great. The menu is huge and they have a good selection of chips/sides/desserts as well. Definitely come here for sandwiches when in the Wildwoods! read more

primo was always our go to. ordered today. 3 sandwiches for 60 dollars regular size. cheese steak was so dry you couldn't eat it. NO cheese could be seen and meat was tough.
