The Cuban sandwich was great too and to my surprise the bread was very toasty yet it was not buttery. It's on a rather busy street and you will see all kinds of characters walking by. No, that was not the overall best Cuban sandwich I've eaten, but it was really really good, and the location was chosen merely based on the experience . . . which was both fun AND tasty. The bread was perfection, and I often used that as the primary benchmark on this particular sandwich. There was a rather steady arrival of people to the ordering window, and it became obvious many of them were locals. That also tells me a lot about a business. Kudos to Mary's Cafe for developing that fan base of regulars. I was fortunate to be able to acquire a seat in the front to enjoy my sandwich immediately. On a return visit to Miami I will go back any try the empanadas, which one diner was really bragging on. The employee was really nice and took their time to answer our questions regarding ingredients, etc. we ordered about 10 sandwiches and they were all ready in about 30 mins. Price wasn't outrageous, considering what other places charge. Normally the steak sandwich comes with steak, onions, lettuce, papitas and ketchup on toasted Cuban bread, but I asked them remove the onions and ketchup from my sandwich and to add mayo. It was honestly perfect! It was also a pretty big portion! I could only eat half and saved the other half for later. I will definitely be back! Their specialty is the Pan con Bistec. Bread is always perfectly pressed. The proportion of onions, lettuce, tomatoes and small fries is always right and the steak is always tender. They are also quick in getting you in and out. Parking can be an issue sometimes but there is a small parking lot not too far behind the building. I've been coming here for years and they always hit the spot. The sandwiches used to be $5.50 but after covid they raised their prices. Quality and consistency remains the same. got to visit this miami staple on the way out of town! this is a cool ventanita attached to a coin laundry and they serve up delicious food 24/7, to my understanding. we got a cuban breakfast and a cuban sandwich and both were tasty, but the sandwich was a little thin. we also got tequeños which were super yummy and an amazing colada! perfectly made. we spent about $20 on everything, so while i'm sure prices have gone up in the last few years, it's comparatively still pretty affordable compared to the rest of the city, and still tasty. i'd come back again but i would probably skip the sandwich and go with the breakfast + colada. read more

Oh Mary's. So many good memories from a decade ago when I had just moved here. My friends and I would bike around showing me their favorite local spots. And that is indeed what Mary's is -- a Miami staple. Most people come here for the sandwiches, but it's the smoothies for me. I came back here recently with my bf and we shared the Hawaiian smoothie while we waited for our sandwiches. It's smooth and fruity, and refreshing in this humid weather. Why we shared, I don't know. Take my advice and get your own! We got the Cuban sandwich and medianoche to go. I'm impressed we had the self control to not dig into them during the car ride home. My bf loved the Cuban sandwich (and said the ketchup made it even better) and I inhaled the medianoche. Don't be fooled by the meh pic. You can't go wrong with those orders. What I like best about Mary's is it's a local favorite and I know I'm supporting a family-owned business. That and the ladies that work there are so nice. The bread was not fresh, and the sweet sauce they put in it was NOT GOOD. I'm not sure if it's an actual sauce done on purpose or just ketchup and mayo. Upon my arrival there were a few people outside ordering, eating, or waiting on their order. Parking as anywhere you can find it. Stepped up to the he window and a lady took my order. She was polite, and before getting to me acknowledged I was waiting to be attended. "I'll be right with you", she said. She took my name and said "I'll call your name when it's ready." While waiting, I decided to take a stroll around the place and get a peek of the whole laundromat situation. I spent my childhood in Cuba, and it gave me very Cuban vibes. The way the bread is all stocked right behind the kitchen side of the place which is connected to the laundromat on speed-racks. The whole thing seemed very authentic, and ingenious. Finally my name was called and I got my Cuban. Got in my car, and unwrapped it once home. Still hot. It was beautiful! Cheese was so melted and the ratio of food to bread was perfect. Toasted perfectly too, but if I had anything to say about it, it would be the amount of Mustard. It was a bit much for me. Too mustardy. Aside from that, it was a great Cuban Sandwich at 2AM.
