The customer service was excellent, and the restaurant itself appeared clean, but unfortunately, that's where the positive part of my experience ended. The name "Maryland's Fresh Seafood" suggests statewide quality and, more importantly, seafood that is freshly prepared. Unfortunately, my food did not live up to that expectation. I ordered the lobster bisque and a fish platter with catfish, sweet potato fries, garlic green beans, and scallops. The scallops were dark in color and appeared as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period of time. The catfish, which I specifically paid extra to upgrade, was dry, hard, and lacked the freshness I expected from a seafood restaurant. The lobster bisque was the biggest disappointment. It had an unusual, tangy taste and an extremely thick, cheese-like, marshmallow-gummy consistency. There was also very little lobster meat in the soup. Because the taste and appearance were concerning, especially with seafood, I ultimately decided not to risk eating it and threw the food away. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but spending $30 on food that I couldn't comfortably eat was extremely frustrating. To be fair, the customer service was excellent and the restaurant looked clean. Unfortunately, good service and a clean environment cannot make up for food quality this poor. I hope management takes this review seriously because the concept has potential, but the food I received was atrocious and nowhere near what I would consider fresh seafood. read more

I used to be a regular here until I found a spot closer to home, but I decided to drop in today--and I'm so glad I did! It was great to see a familiar face at the front; I remember when he used to be the cook. ​I ordered a dozen female crabs and a half-pound of steamed shrimp. Since they're currently sourcing Louisiana crabs, the meat was incredibly sweet and flavorful. I personally prefer females over males because of that sweetness, even if they tend to be a bit smaller. I order the croaker platter with hush puppies and coleslaw. immediately I noticed that the fence is soaked and looks like lemon juice call back and I'm like why did you put the lemon just by itself you should've put it in a container. He gonna tell me because it cost too much well. I you should've put some aluminum fold around the fish so it wouldn't be soggy and put the lemon on the side cause everybody don't want lemon on it. Give me the option so I will not be returning. The owner told me the fish is going to be soggy as if that was normal. I needed to place an order for crabs and shrimp quickly on a Friday night so I called to place my order to pick up. I was informed that everything would be ready in 15 minutes, which was perfect. It was a Friday evening so I expected them to have a crowd but it wasn't that bad. They could use more help on the pick up side of the counter because we had to wait for the cashier to finish taking orders before we were helped. I probably spent 10ish minutes inside. The price for the crabs was really reasonable and the crabs were meaty. I do think overall that more seasoning would've been nice. Overall, I had a good experience. Everything was really good. The fried whiting fillet had a bone or two which was okay. The calamari and the okra were both under seasoned. This is the second time I've gotten steamed crabs from this location. I thought the first time was a fluke but the crabs were mushy again! I brought back 2 whole crabs that had not been opened and 6 that had. Cameron, the owner, disputed the number brought back, tossed them onto the fish that were laying in the display on ice & proceeded to count them. I showed how the meat was mushy & picks up one of the open ones & eats it! Notwithstanding the fact I had to drive all the way back there to return them, he would only credit me for 6. Moreover, I have ordered the snow crab legs, Alaskan King Crab legs, the fried seafood platters, and spiced shrimp. I also come here for their frozen lobster tails. They are frozen raw, huge and sell for about $20 a piece. They are very meaty and I can make it myself at home. It may not smell the best or look like much but they have lines out the door most days. On this cold winter, my buddy and I wanted to feast on seafood. Since going to my favorite fish fry was far we settled for this. Place is near LAF. Very basic decor. Staff are friendly. This is not a sit in to dine like other locations. I ordered crabcake sandwich combo and buddy got fried shrimp combo. Now the service is fast. I got my order in less than 10 minutes. Condiment station could be more appealing and cleaner. My crab cake sandwich was ok. It had too much filler. My side item: potato salad, horrible. Im very picky. It was bland and potatoes were too firm. When I tasted dill in my salad, I nearly fainted in shock. Dill in a potato salad? #fail Fried shrimp was good. However, not sure whose bright idea was to place fries on the bottom and shrimp on top? Fries were a little soggy. Their side items arent too appealing. I would return for fried shrimps and fish. The fish was fresh and fried very well. I would have opt for more seasoning, but it was still very tasty. The restaurant serves a variety of fresh fish, shell fish and crabs. The place seemly is clean from the front door to the display counter. The customer service (José) was very accommodating , polite and respectful. I'm disappointed... I've been ordering the jumbo lump crab cake platter for years and sadly it's not what it use to be. There was a lot more filler and too many green herb pieces throughout. Almost mushy inside. The rice and veggies were the same but the main item we wanted and paid for is that jumbo lump crab cake. This was my go to spot from when it was called "Maryland Seafood ..." Each platter comes with a choice of two sides, which they appear to have a pretty decent selection. The platter if you can't tell was huge. I enjoyed everything, the crab cake had a lot of filling though. You can probably get a better crab cake elsewhere. The veggies, I think I liked them even more. The garlic string beans were amazing and the mixed veggies had a nice flavor as well. The fried croaker was seasoned nicely, and surprsingly I didn't need to add a gob ton of hot sauce per usual. Fries were decent, cooked hard. Don't think you can really mess those up. Price: Reasonable for the amount of food and your definate left overs. It's a winna in my book. read more

I feel bad for taking the little places for granted. I frequent Maryland's Fresh Seafood when I go back around to my old stompin' grounds to visit the fam, open 7 days a week, and serving FRESH seafood, totally deserves a Yelp. Especially for the healthy $10 lunch specials that usually offer grilled mahi mahi or some other fish selection and 2 sides. I like the single broiled crab cake with potato roll bun along with rice pilaf, french fries and/or steamed broccoli. This is my to-go spot that does not disappoint. In the past I've heard about the owner having a volatile personality, but the times I've encountered him, he seemed pretty nice. You can also get fresh raw seafood in the cold case along with desserts, which I can say do look good, however I've never tried them. I love having a place in this community where I can make a healthy choice quick and fast, without falling victim to the local Jerry's, Popeye's, or Wendy's. When we speak of food deserts, we don't think in terms of deserts being filled with endless fast food chain restaurants, mostly this term is used to describe communities that do not have grocery stores close by for the community to access. To make matters worse, they places the shrimp on top of the french fries in a plastic container which caused the french fries and the shrimp to be soggy.
