I have been disappointed in my two stops at Mary's. Last time I took home boneless/skinless chicken thighs. I never knew you could cook thighs so much that they are dried out. I also really dislike that they hold the meat warm in water. even if it's beef or chicken stock BBQ shouldn't be in water of any kind. Just moved back here to Medford from 15 years in Texas and was looking for a nice little BBQ place that actually smokes the meat it serves. Well, I will tell you that they hit the nail right on the head. I was looking for a nice big brisket sandwich, which they did not have, they used tri tip instead, which I find is a better meat choice because it is a leaner cut but still very similar to brisket. The wife had the smoked ribs. Both meals were a little higher than we expected but still worth the portion size. Over all the service was very good the food was excellent. Only down side I had was no "sweet tea". Regular unsweetened tea that you add sugar to is just not the same. So I just had an Arnold Palmer which is just as good. read more

First visit and last visit I went in for a take home dinner tonight and asked for 2 lunch plates ($10.00 each) it came with a meat, side and a drink. They didn't have any dinner combination plates. I asked if I could substitute the drink ($1.50 per the menu) for a slice of garlic bread ($1.00). I was told no, even though the price was less for what I was asking for. I was so disappointed, and confused about why this was such an unreasonable request I left. I was hoping for a little better customer service from our local BBQ joint. What a great little hole-in-the-wall to find. The barbecue is absolutely amazing from the regular to the jalapeno. I had the stuff potato with smoked chicken and sour cream and cheese, huge plate that I split with my daughter. My husband had the smoked chicken sandwich with coleslaw he really likes the sandwich. Little restaurant in a strip mall with a smoker right by the street to pull you in. The service was amazing and the food even better! Huge helpings and delicious sides. I had the pork ribs, didn't even need BBQ sauce but I couldn't resist dunking the meat in the jalapeño style, soooo good! My grandson had the kids pulled pork, super yum and big enough to feed an adult. Hubby had the TriTip, soooo tender and full of delicious flavor. The baked beans have a fun little kick to them and the coleslaw was fresh and flavorful! As much as we tried to finish it all the servings were too big. We brought home at least a full meal to enjoy later. Delicious and highly recommended!!! Will be back many times over. read more

First visit: Ordered three ribs at $1 each. Got home to find only two wrapped in their bagged foil. The pulled pork was tough and dry with the outer layer being nearly tough as leather. The only reason why I didn't rate this "place" a one-star is because Central Point could use a great BBQ grill, and I believe in second chances. Good luck. read more

Hate to leave unfavorable reviews but this place failed miserably. Ordered the family size rib dinner. The ribs were dry, tuff and inedible. I'm guessing they were left over from a previous day and had been reheated (it was a Wednesday) The sides, Cole slaw & macaroni were ok, nothing special. The garlic bread was hot, buttery but way too salty ( and I love salt!!!) I'm truly not picky but the star of the dish (the ribs)ended up in the garbage. No one would eat them. Pork sandwich was absolutely wonderful. Loaded full of delicious pork and then you choose your bbq sauce - original or jalapeño. Really reasonably priced given how much food you get. I opted for a side of coleslaw that I also thought was great, very garlicky and peppery. 100% will come back again. The only thing I wish is that they offered brisket as well! I have to be the negative one here but I was very unimpressed. I ordered ribs and Cole Slaw. The slaw was not fresh .. and had a gummy gooeyness to it. I threw it away. Ribs were too Crusty on top so couldn't cut or bite. Though very tender falling of bone and such but lacking flavor... Just an over cooked pile actually. So no. Won't return. Sorry! read more

Good, not great. I was greeted with smiles from the two ladies working and was offered an explanation as to the ordering process. I settled on ribs and tri tip with a side of potato salad. The portion was a good size for the price and the smoke on the ribs was excellent. The trip tip was a let down. It was overcooked and had little flavor to it. Not sure if it was left from the previous day or that is just how they prepare it. Anyway, I was expecting a little more smoke and bark on it. The potato salad was good if you like pepper. I am not sure why, but mine was overpowering. Overall a good local place, not fancy, simple and they put the money in the food not the atmosphere, which is fine for me. The staff were friendly and I will be back to try out the pulled pork sandwich and a different side. The coleslaw looked good when I spied it on another's plate :-) read more

Ordered the tri-tip with salad, meat was very dry and not well seasoned had very little flavor. Salad was just lettuce with a little cup of bottled dressing. When we were there they still had 4th of July cookies for sale and it was mid August. Overall would not go back nor recommend. read more

Mary has better things to do than make sure your event is well taken care of. She is very difficult, if not impossible, to reach on the phone. Calls, emails, and texts go unanswered. Information you do receive is confusing and misleading (i.e., sends menus with outdated prices). She refuses to provide a contract prior to the event because "she's never had to do that in the past." She was not present the night of our event for 50+ people because she instead took her employees to a concert leaving us ONE employee to set up the buffet, bartend, and bus tables. The salad was brown, the veggies were a frozen/microwaved mush, the tri-tip was overdone and dry, the pasta was dry and undercooked. The baked potatoes were okay, but we had to hunt down our one server to ask for sour cream. The desserts were store bought cakes with a handful of store bought cookies, which we paid $5/person for. It's unfortunate that we will no longer use the GP Golf Club for our annual events, but after this experience we are seeking out new venues. read more

Went there with some friends on a wed. night and the place was empty. We ordered the dinner for 4- and I wasn't impressed. The "salad" was spring mix out of the bag, the tomatoes were bad, and the dressings were pre packaged kraft ranch packets. The meat and slaw was decent hence the 3 stars, but they forgot the garlic bread until I asked for it at the end of the meal. Probably won't be back since the other bbq place gives you more choices of meats for the same price and better service. On our way back from Seattle to LA we were hungry so we yelped this place. Solid reviews so we gave it a shot. Big mistake. Was served day old , hard and non edible chicken jerky. The sauces were subpar as well and the cook warmed my beans in the microwave! WTH? Waste of money. Noticed the smoker/grill out front was not being used so maybe that played a role. My advice to anyone hoping to eat here is to keep right on driving if you don't see smoke. read more
