Street Tacos

Drove past this place and decided to check it out. Got pork street tacos and tamales. The tacos and tamales were amazing! The owner was really nice and we talked for a while, he had a great personality and was very helpful. Definitely a hidden gem. Will be back again!

Drive thru only :)

I'm upset that it took me so long to finally try Chilito's but I'm glad I finally did. Service is always friendly and the food is always made fresh to order (not to mention delicious). Al, the wonderful owner of this place, is great! He really goes out of his way to give you exactly what you're looking for in his dishes. The street tacos will deceive you as you may think they're small but they really fill you! And although I've tried a few of their offerings, I have to say that I think my favorite dish from here is the Chilito Famous Bowl with asada. It's a hearty meal with savory steak, beans, rice, mixed in with some sweet potato fries, and topped with kika sauce (regular or spicy, your choice but I prefer spicy). My partner in crime will usually share this as it's definitely a lot! Add some Mexican coke and I'm a happy girl. :)

Waiting in the car for our order! It smells amazing

This little place is located on the corner of Huebner and Babcock. We tried a sampler plate that had quesadillas, tacos, tamales and rice and beans. It was about $15, and we figured we could try a little bit of everything. Let's start with the tamales. These were unique in that they had cream cheese and jalepeno, they were okay. I guess I am a bit of a purist, because I like my tamales with pork meat. The quesadillas were full of meat and cheese, crisped up and very tasty. The tacos al pastor were okay, but lacked some of that spicy flavor I look for. The rice and beans were my least favorite, because they were combined in a cup. I would try this place again and try something else. I really want to see what else they've got.

Finally decided to give this place a try. Interesting set up. But friendly and quick service. Got their famous bowl, one chicken, one steak. TONS of food for super cheap. But they were really greasy. My hubby liked his steak, but the chicken was so greasy I couldn't stomach more than a few bites. I pretty much just ate the fries off the top. I would come back to try other menu items though. But I could see why people like this place, tons of food for super cheap.

It was still AMAZING and left me wishing that I could stay longer! My King Room was huge and ultra clean and comfortable! Taking a break from work, I headed to the pool deck, which was small but sufficient and had comfortable chairs to sun in. I remembered an amazing redfish dish from Ostra, enjoyed so many years ago... I really wanted to eat at Ostra again this visit, because I saw redfish on the menu and wondered if it was really as good as my memory of it. I was initially bummed that Ostra was closed for a private event during my stay, BUT my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when I saw the same dish offered on the room service menu. YES!! It was as good if not better than my memory of it! Finally and importantly, the individuals working in valet, front desk, and room service were so service driven and friendly! Overall, I cannot wait to stay at the Mokara again in the hopefully, not so distant future!

Also, Alli, who's working the evening is absolute professional as well. Top-notch service. Ashley who's working the restaurant she answered the phone and took my order. Another top-notch professional everyone with the name A is winning here. Last but not least Asia, she gave me the best massage ever. I've been getting massages for 22 years and that has been one of the best Massage I've ever had. So if you ever come to this hotel and you need a massage do yourself a favor and ask for Asia. She is simply the best. Comfort, the level comfort here is the best. The AC blows ice cold, the beds are super comfy. Everything they do here is to make your stay perfectly the best. They have fresh fruit and cookies and water scattered throughout the building. What a nice touch. The king premium room is super spacious and very nice. The spa, area is amazing. I really enjoyed the Jacuzzi, sauna and the relaxation room. Followed by the Massage. Everything is perfect here. I haven't had one issue at this hotel. Everyone that works here is simply top-notch and I understand the level of class at this hotel is all about. It's definitely not cheap but let me tell you what you get what you pay for because this is top-notch service. This will be one of my go to hotels when I come to San Antonio from now on

On Fridays and Saturdays there can be a wait, but they often offer a waitlist option, and you can also make a reservation the day before which I highly recommend. For a long time, I struggled with what to order because some of the dishes felt a bit heavy for my taste. They were good but too greasy. And for years I have typically stuck with the chicken quesadilla or a bowl of bean soup. However, I recently tried the mini tacos and that completely changed my experience! The mini tacos come six to an order, and the meat was cooked perfectly: tender, juicy, and full of flavor. They're served on a single corn tortilla (many places use two), so they did fall apart a bit and I had to eat with a fork but honestly, with added lime, onion and cilantro, they were so delicious that I didn't mind. The charro beans are a great accompaniment with really nice flavor and this plate DOES NOT come with rice. I do however like the white style rice that comes with the quesadilla. I know many people rave about the refried beans. While they are tasty, they're a bit too greasy for my personal preference. Service is decent overall. The waitstaff often seems very busy and possibly understaffed, but they are still pleasant and kind. If you're not sure what to order, I definitely recommend giving the mini tacos a try.

We were eating outside but they did let us know they were trying to close in the early evening at 6 pm. I think this place is more of a breakfast and lunch spot. But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

That level of service carried over to most of the staff on the boat, making the experience even more enjoyable. During the event, I was introduced to Paul, who was seated with a group of friends. He was introduced to me as the boat owner and came across as relaxed and not at all pushy--qualities I appreciate when considering a business, especially since part of my motivation for attending was to explore options for my birthday celebration. Unfortunately, Paul's friends left a negative impression. A couple of them outright refused to acknowledge me, turning away when a gentleman attempted to introduce me. Others made inappropriate jokes about my accent in a condescending and offensive manner. One individual even made vulgar comments, implying that Paul should get my phone number to discuss event planning details later, which was completely unprofessional and inappropriate. While the event itself was enjoyable, the boat ride interesting, the behavior of those around the boat owner and the fact that the boat owner never replied to my text message trying to discuss my event, was disappointing and detracted from my overall experience. This experience left me with a negative impression of the boat's management, and I strongly feel that they are not welcoming to immigrants. The group consisted of older white men whose behavior was filled with prejudice and hostility. And for that reason I felt compelled to post a review discouraging people like me- and those against this type of behavior - to stay away and make better choices. We can use our money to invest in a much better experience elsewhere I left the boat traumatized and truly disgusted by those old men behaviors. Do better!
