Have always craved the Italian grinders from this place...so when I'm in the neighborhood, it is a must to stop in. Need to say though, the last two visits were at best disappointing! After my grinder this past Tuesday, the "love affair" is done. Didn't know if the past poorly made & tasteless grinder was a fluke...but this latest one was worse. They could be ordering the cold cuts from a different supplier? All the meats taste the same. But their most serious mistake is loading the hot & sweet peppers directly onto the bread roll itself!!! Who does this?? Instantly makes the sandwich wet & soggy. Juice from the peppers soaks right through the grinder and by the time you open the tin foil to enjoy your meal...it's ruined. Thanks for the many years of great Fall River Italian grinders...but likely will be headed up the block in the future. read more

First off, I walked in and wasn't greeted at all. I walked up to the young woman behind the counter and waited for her to ask me what I'd like to order. She continued to check her cell phone while asking my order. She didn't say thank you and she didn't make eye contact. I wasn't even acknowledged. Then after my order was done, another young woman called out my number and rudely handed me my sandwich without a thank you or a goodbye. The only reason I'm rating this place low of my experience. That aside, their sandwiches are pretty good. I haven't gotten this service like this here before. Usually their friendly and welcoming but beware if there are younger kids working. read more

We decided to stop in Fall River for lunch on our way to Cape Cod. Yelp pointed us to Marcuccis' on Bedford. We came across Marzilli's first and thought it was the place we were looking for. I have no complaints that we ended up at the "wrong" place. Marzilli's large sandwiches must be a foot and a half long. Remembering the hour plus of driving we had left, I opted for a small meatball. I enjoyed taking in the atmosphere while we waited - pretty much your basic small-city Massachusetts venue complete with that familiar accent. When our sandwiches were ready, we walked across the street and ate them in the sun on a set of bleachers overlooking a baseball diamond. The meatballs were tasty and the bread and cheese got nice and toasted in the oven. Definitely a satisfying lunch! read more

I normally order mine with mixed (hot & sweet) peppers. It makes for an intensely delicious flavor combination. I used to live in Fall River and eat here all the time. This is one of my 5 fave sandwich places on the planet. I love the Italian grinder with hots. The food is cheap, the prices are totally fair and the homemade bread is delicious. Only complaint is the hours but just a tiny complaint. Love this place! Grinders are DELISH The bread is SO fresh! They make it EVERY day and don't technically have a set closing time because sometimes they don't make it until the normal closing time and run out of bread - doesn't happen often but to be safe its always best to call in your order We always order a Large Italian - With Hots & Sweets, Oil and Vinegar on the side - cut into 8 -this can easily feed 3 people They also have super yummy pizza (not your normal pizza, it is (like) Sicilian cold pizza - just dough, sauce and a light sprinkle of cheese on top - We usually get a dozen (slices sold individually) and can last in the fridge a few days read more

Well unlike Marcucci's, their bread is hard. Well, when I went, mine was hard. I got a roast beef and it wasn't that good. I pretty much ate it because I paid for it. I also got clam chowder from here...supposedly it's "homemade." it's by far the worst clam chowder ever. Canned clam chowder beats this!! No flavor, extremely watery with little meat and potatoes. It was a huge disappointment. I would choose Marcucci's any day over this place...but to be honest, I rather just go to subway for a mediocre sandwich. People seemed to love this place too. I haven't tried anything else and don't plan on going back. This just wasn't the place for me. read more

If I could give zero stars I would went in on lunch today and with the employees and the rush that they where having during this time there was more then 25 people in the building and in one small area I'm very disappointed surprised they are still open they don't know that there can't be more than 25 people in a area at a time I ended up leaving I'm very very disappointed in this place bunch of people in one spot when they just said for no place to have more than 25 people in a group people are going to get sick won't be back for sure read more

Been in fall river my whole life, my family's staple for beach days was a large Italian sandwich from down the street. For as long as I can remember there have been neighboring sandwich shops separated by only a gas station and baseball diamond. You could put there menu and prices side by side, I've yet to see a major difference. I maybe disowned for this but my adult preference is Marzillis. The bread is softer. But more importantly THEY TAKE CREDIT/DEBIT Because its 2017. and everyone should. if I have to stop at an atm on the way to get a sandwich, that im getting cuz I want the convenience factor, its not convenient. My only gripe is your are way better off going in for take out. There are two counters and two tables. that's it. However, still more than the place that shalt be named down the street :-P read more

After many years of living in the area and hearing of this place, I finally went in and ordered an Italian sub. Loved it! Lots of very thinly sliced cold cuts. Their homemade bread was fresh and soft and did not dominate like more hearty/crusty ones can. Perfect. Why keep going to big chain franchise places who keep upping the price and not the main ingredients? Support your local mom and pop business and get better quality at better prices. read more

Food is great, but the staff make mistakes and forget things on my order every time i go in. They grilled me about not having my order number instead of apologizing and fixing the order. I wanted banana peppers on my sub, but was given no peppers on side or in sub. Then after it was "fixed", i was surprised with hot peppers. I will not be going back. read more

Marzillis Bakery makes the best sandwiches in the state. Honestly, if you're driving through Fall River it is worth taking a pit stop on Bedford Street to pick up some of their delicious, cheap, fresh food. Call ahead and order yourself an Italian grinder (medium is 12"), a couple of choriço rolls (to eat later), and maybe a salad (which comes with garlic bread) if you're feeling healthy. Grinders are pretty no-frills, so if you want lots of veg you're going to have to ask for it but they're amazingly good. The bread is what makes their sandwiches as good as they are so don't skimp on the carbs with a pita to cut calories, it's not worth it. read more

I came to Marzilli's Bakery because the reviews were so good. We ordered an Italian grinder and all we got was meat and cheese on bread... that wasn't toasted. Note: you have to ask for the lettuce, tomato, hots, and oil and vinegar extra. I am sure the sandwich would have been much better if the Italian grinder came as a full Italian grinder, but no one asked, so we received meat and cheese on bread. Boring. read more

Was in this area for a couple days and went here for a couple subs. Great food and very cheap! Hit this place up if you are in Fall River! Large subs are 20" long!! Small sub goes for $3.50! Food is mediocre at best. Steak sandwich was dry. Service is horrible! Four girls at the counter laughing and joking while I'm waiting to pay. I look at them again and they are still playing around instead of helping me. Finally, a guy comes to the counter asking if I'm all set. Can I pay? I will never be back. Marzillis bread is a big deal here in the city. I worked at another sub shop and one of our things to boast about was using Marzillis bread. Frankly, I've never gotten anything here other than their legendary Italian grinder- which can easily feed 5 people for less than the price of a pack of cigarettes. Or, for nonsmokers, less than the price of a monthly Netflix subscription. If you're expecting high quality service from a staple of this city that has been here for decades, then you should typically find it here. If not, don't let it get you down, just enjoy your amazing sandwich. p.s. just as a tip- this is a GREAT place to visit before a summer group outing with friends- whether headed to the beach, park, or for a hike- it's a super economical and yummy thing to bring along and share (and everyone is always so excited you brought it) :) read more
