Staff is friendly and the food is great for the price! They have a Teriyaki Chicken special rn $6.15 for 1 and $10.99 for 2, and everything else 10% off to promote their opening. The Teriyaki is super customizable (1/2 rice 1/2 noodle etc) and sushi is fresh. I'd say the most noticable foods from here are the *california rolls* because they rip apart the imitation crab meat and mix it with sugar. Also, the service is really bad - i didn't recieve a portion of my order and they were unable to refund me and couldn't compensate for the items I was missing. This is more of a take out than sit down spot. It was pretty empty on a Friday evening but there were a few other people taking food to go. We got our food to go and sat at some tables outside. Decided to give their sushi a shot and came away with mixed feelings - the Rock and Roll was excellent, with yummy spicy tuna and a great crunch. The eel roll was not bad and exactly how you expect an eel roll to be. However, the rainbow roll was quite plain and not very good. I think the sushi rice they used was a little on the sweet side, and there was a sticky texture (the rice seemed to all be mushed together instead of separate grains) - and this was even more apparent for a less flavorful, "fresher" roll like the Rainbow Roll, making it less enjoyable. Service was good - the original soda lid they gave us didn't quite fit somehow (I think it might've been damaged or defective) and they replaced it no problem. read more

I ordered carry out from here - chicken and shrimp with veggies and rice. It's small, maybe 5 or 6 tables, and a counter for ordering. The food was ready very quickly, and the staff were really nice people. They serve a lot of food for the price, enough for two people, and somehow for less than $10. Proportionally, there was a good amount of both chicken and shrimp, although the shrimp were on the small side, and a lot of cabbage in the veggies, with a few pieces of broccoli and carrots. The teriyaki sauce was not too sweet and pretty tasty. It's definitely more like Teriyaki fast food, but that's exactly what I expected based on the carry out style and prices. I haven't tried the sushi, but they have a pretty good variety on the menu. Overall, it was a great deal, and a good option in this area for a filling and tasty low priced meal. read more

I thought this place to be a traditional sushi restaurant. Tables, sushi bar, etc. So much so that I first walked into the restaurant next door with an oriental name and style. I actually left there, being set on sushi. TK is more the takeout or lunch sushi and bento. It was good but a bit contradicting when the napkin dispenser asks to "only take what you need" yet I've got three plastic takeout containers on my tray even though I ate in. The service was friendly and doting and I'd come back knowing what I know now. Food was just ok as the ginger, wasabi and roll were all mass-produced looking. Another contradiction as they definitely made it at the sushi counter. Who knows, maybe this is the future of sushi and I better get used to it. read more

This is a really cool spot. I decided to come here for lunch today and I'm so glad I did. I was uncertain if I wanted Sushi or Teriyaki so the guy behind the counter suggested a Bento Box. It was huge! The Chicken Teriyaki with the Fried Rice was very tasty as were the dumplings and sushi. The salad was bland but that's expected in a Bento Box. For under $11, it was a great deal with a ton of food. I highly recommend giving the place a try. read more

Teriyaki Kiazen is great. I would say that their sushi is on-par with "white linen" restaurants and very reasonably priced. I'm immediately a fan of anywhere that has Miso soup for a $1.65! I really hope that they succeed and stay in Hyattsville for a long time. I'd say that their Maryland roll is my favorite, so far. This place just seems confused. Acts like fast food but still 80% of the cost of a nice sit down sushi place. Quality is also 80% a sit down place. Also when I went they brought us two rolls and then didn't bring the other two for another 10-15 mins which was weird. The place wasn't even crowded. A weak 4 stars. This place is very similar to Sarku Japan in College Park. The sushi selection is a little larger here, so that is nice. Overall, not too bad as long as you come here with the expectation of "fast food level" sushi. The service was friendly and the restaurant is very clean. The thing that bumps it up a star from Sarku for me is that their sushi prices are more in line with the quality of sushi they are serving. Sarku is trying to command near-sushi-restaurant level prices where as Teryaki Kaizen understands better where it is in the World of Sushi. I can appreciate that and for that they get an extra star. It was pretty good. Way better that mall teriyaki or quickway hibachi. We tried chicken, beef, and just veggie teriyaki (veggie is not on the menu but they have it). They were all pretty good. We really liked it with the noodles. If you're doing low Carb, they will give you all veggies instead of rice/noodles. We were little disappointed at the quantity of the beef when compared to how much chicken they gave us. Also tried some cooked Sushi: Eel, Philly, and Salmon skin; and all were really good. I paid $10 and bought a certificate at Local Flavor and I went to the restaurant and trying to use it. It was rejected and the manager told me to call the 800 # on the paper and get my refund. So I had to pay for the full price at the restaurant. Later I emailed customer service of Local Flavor and was told that there is no exchange and refund. The food was great, very similar to Sarku Japan. The only thing that really sucked was the amount of time it took to get the food out. We ordered a Bento box, with two sushi orders on the side and it took about 30 minutes to get our food out. A few people came after us and received their food before us. Overall though, the food was delicious and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely go back if the food didn't take so long.
