For a place that is charging $27 for AYCE you would think they could serve your food on real plates. Nope Plastic cups and plates. Started with some shrimp tempura and there is 0 flavor Kani salad was all cucumbers and 3 strips of crab. Had 4 different rolls. The Kyoto roll was good, the rest not so much. Couldn't get my plastic water cup refilled once. Had to wave down a waitress for a paper to order more food. Compared to other all-you-can-eat, I prefer Masa Sushi. I personally found the rolls here better tasting and the ambiance better than Sushi Palace. For dinner, the price was $25 a person. FOOD: Fresh sashimi, good appetizers, nice collection of speciality rolls. Food came out nicely presently and in a timely fashion. SERVICE: In some other AYCE, I feel like the service could be lacking. In Sushi Palace, it's always so crowded and you need to case waiters for them to take your paper for order. I have been to this place countless times but never really had what you can call a good experience on the service side, but the sushi was always excellent. Few of my friends came to visit over the weekend and decided to take them to this all you can eat place, and I'm really glad I did, our service was the best, our server was amazing her name was Zara, I thought it was Sarah at first and had a good laugh about it as we were spelling it together. She was amazing, polite, and wonderful at what she does, we did not have to ask for anything, she had everything under control and keep in my mind it was extremely busy but she was running in every direction, she took care of us, laughed with us and had our food coming out in timely manner. This is the kind of service that makes us want to come back, on many occasions before I taught the servers in this place were really rude but this is different . I don't know if she is new but it looks like she loves what she does and I'm glad they got a server that actually make customers feel home. I would totally come black to this place. read more

There are no words to describe how amazing this place is! The sushi is insanely good. I love that it's all you can eat for $25 because the 3 rolls alone makes it worth it. I love the spicy tuna roll, the Phoenix roll, the Masa roll, and so many others. The quality of the fish is great; so fresh! And the harumaki is amazing too. So much SUSHI!! My girlfriend and I came here for lunch and got the endless sushi. It was $19 each which is totally reasonable. We got so much food. We ordered the Vegetable Gyoza, (fantastic but a little small, so we got 2 orders). We also picked a ton of different vegetable based sushi rolls since we are both vegetarians, (there are tons of vegetarian options). Then we split the vegetable and tofu teriyaki. Hadn't been here in about a year. Masa was packed on a Sat night as it usually is. We brought 2 bottles of wine to this BYOB restaurant. We placed our order by filling in our all-you-care-to-eat selections. Took a while for someone to come and take a drink order and had to ask them to uncorke our bottle and provide glasses. Evidently, no ice buckets are available. Next, we noticed that one of the soy sauce dipping bowls on ourble was dirty with sauce and food particles in it. And then...once the food arrived, we realized that our (6 pieces) nigiri sushi had been left off the order as well as a soup and an appetizer special - we also received at least 1 roll we didn't order. There was nobody to tell as the waiter/waitress never came to check on us. We finished the platter and inquired about what happened to the rest of our order. Once again, the plate of missing items that came still had 2 items missing. The food we did receive was good, though the 2nd items had rice that fell apart under the sushi and cut pieces of egg custard were too big for the rice ball. Overall a disappointing dining experience that had previously been my go-to for sushi. They assist to have some staffing issues like everywhere else. Manager took 15% off the bill and let us take home the last app that arrived at the table as we were paying the bill (there's usually a surcharge if you don't finish everything you order and can't take home leftovers). Lastly, while I might have been in the minority, music is of the dance club thumping variety and seemed really loud. The music and volume just made for a less than relaxing meal. Masa Sushi is another, and probably the best, of the new all you can eat craze in sushi dining in the greater Princeton. Masa does offer off the menu dining as well, but I have never even looked at the menu, nor have I seen anyone doing anything but the all you can eat option when I was there. At $24.95 per person for dinner or $18.95 for lunch, Masa offers a better quality for your money than any of the other AYCEs around, especially when you factor in the wide variety available, both in terms of sushi and sashimi as well as hot dishes from the kitchen. Unlike anywhere else that I am aware of in the area, they also have pork buns on the menu! These aren't Ippudo level pork buns, but they're all you can eat, and they more than do the job. On more than one occasion I've been tempted to just write "20" on the line, send it to the kitchen, and sit back and gorge myself. But I digress... Masa follows the tried and true service style of it's competitors: you're handed two slips of paper, one for the sushi bar and one for the kitchen. You put tally marks or numbers next to the items you want and the server takes them off. Food is delivered as it is prepared and ready, not all together, making for a fun grazing experience at your table. Your are welcome to order as much as whatever you want, but if you over-order and waste food, you are subject to a "surcharge." I have never been in a situation where there was too much sushi in front of me, so I cannot speak to what the surcharge might amount to. The sushi is generally of good quality, more on par with a traditional dine in off the menu restaurant than an AYCE or buffet. There are a few standouts, such as the Eggplant Sandwich (yes, I know how weird that sounds. Just order it and thank me later), the Phoenix Roll and the shrimp lettuce wraps. Be forewarned that the specialty rolls heavily feature spicy tuna, tempura or a combination of both. If you're not of fan of those, you'll be focusing on the regular rolls, individual pieces of sushi & sashimi or kitchen dishes. Also, after a few visits I feel I can safely declare that the Ninja Roll is basically inedible. The idea of a deep fried sushi roll was intriguing to me, so much so that I tried one on a second visit after I was so deeply disappointed the first time. Turns out, it's just the roll. Deep frying it turns the innards into some warm unpleasant mush that only loosely resembles the fish it entered the fryer as. Points for trying something creative I guess. So, when I'm in the mood to inhale more sushi and sides than any responsible medical professional would be comfortable with, this is my joint. While the lunch offers a remarkable value, there are a select few dishes only offered at dinner (such as the pork buns), so keep that in mind. All in all, this is a worthy destination for bulk dining, and creates a terrifically fun atmosphere when dining with a large group of friends. read more

We came to this restaurant after having an amazing day & needing to refuel before we head back to call it a night. The service was mid at best, not that busy. Now here's why I'm writing the review: there was HAIR on my food. It would've been completely different if he had apologized & offered to remake it. Understandable. Nope, the manager/boss tried to gaslight us into saying that we put our hair that we put in the food?? Mind you I have a buzz cut, my fiancé has brown/red hair, our friend has a buzz cut while our other friend is a blonde. We are usually great tippers & not a handful at all since I've worked in the same industry. Management forced us into shining flashlights onto the hair to confirm it's NONE of us & he refused to say whoever made it messed up. He offered 20% off of the bill when we shouldn't have been charged for that specific set of sushi, what?? Average sushi and apps. Nice atmosphere and attentive service--pretty crowded on a weekend. Did the all you can eat during lunch at a fair price (I believe $18-19). The special rolls with jalepeno were very good and the spicy tuna. However other rolls were very slim on fish (e.g. eel cucumber). The gyoza and chix yakitori were really good, but the kani salad was one of the lamest I've ever had. No flavor or spice, simply mayo with an overabundance of shredded cucumber. Green tea ice cream was delightfully creamy, but little flavor. Overall mediocre sushi but a fun experience to try a bunch of different things. read more

I've had a lot of all you can eat sushi buffets, and this one will be somewhat memorable out of all the ones I've been to. Overall, a very solid AYCE sushi restaurant. Fish quality was good, but the appetizers like the gyoza, shumai, calamari were subpar. Lacked freshness and flavor in the fried dishes. Also, this place doesn't have eel sashimi or sushi which is a big con in my opinion since I really do enjoy them but they come in special rolls. Service was decent, but the ambiance was fantastic in the restaurant. As far as price, I paid 30 dollars after tip and tax which is probably one of the most expensive AYCE sushi buffets I've paid but certainly not the best. Prior to today, on two seperate occasions, I've had to wait 40min to an hour to find out my order never processed on their end. The online ordering is extremely inefficient. Which ultimately led to me deciding, it was no longer worth the trip. Quality of their sushi has gone down, and they seem to always be understaffed. Too that off with paper plates and cups, the experience is lackluster. Today I went in and was seated immediately. I asked the waitress for the paper menu and she refused to provide one and asked me to order online. I tried to explain to her why I did not want to order online, but rather than listening to the prior issues with online ordering, she said I cannot order any other way. If you've been to Masa, during their online ordering era, you'd know that after the first order, they give you paper menus. Not sure why we couldn't start with the paper menus if they are used anyway. Ultimately, I did not agree to ordering online, and left. Apparently, the manager has become very strict with the staff and will not tolerate them giving out paper menus; which they've done in the past for customers who have had issues with online ordering. Perhaps, with higher quality sushi and anything other than paper plates and cups, the errors that come with online ordering might be worth it. Until things change, Masa will continue to lose their customers. read more

This place is horrible! They don't care for anyone except themselves. Manager name Kenny was very rude. HE flatly told me he refuse to give me refund for the food that were made with AVACADO and it was not listed on the menu. I have many food allergies and I picked the food that does not HAVE avocado on the list. I reviewed all the rolls and Shrimp Tempura Roll was one of the 5 that does not have avocado on the list. I called the restaurant to ask why was it not listed? Kenny told me everyone KNOWS that every sushi included avocado. I told him that is not TRUE!! All sushi place are different and all of them always listed what is included in the sushi. EXCEPT FOR MASA 8!!! They don't list ALL HAND rolls... They had rolls listed what is included under "special rolls" ONLY. I always order from " hand roll" sections..... BE SURE TO ADD ANY ALLERGIES YOU HAVE ASSUMING THE SUSHI HAVE IT! ...Just so you know they still wont read the instruction anyways!! Call your bank/CC and ask for dispute!! I came to Masa today for a group outing with an organization on my college campus, and the staff was really great and accommodating. Even though our group was gigantic, they took down our reservation and seated us with no problem, and did a great job of making sure the food came on time to the right people. The interior was also nice and spacious, and the seating was comfortable, even for large amounts of people. Most importantly, the prices were amazing considering it was for a sushi buffet on the weekend - it was about $19 before tax and tip for all you can eat, and you really can't find that much value for money elsewhere. While the sushi is good and the variety on the AYCE menu is amazing (including hot food appetizers like gyoza, to seaweed salad, to different types of sashimi and specialty rolls), the sushi is nothing particularly special. Some of the sashimi didn't taste too fresh, but it still tasted good and really hit the spot for my sushi craving! However, my one gripe is that many of the rolls, although containing different fillings, taste so similar that there is almost no difference between getting a sunshine roll and getting a phoenix roll. However, the amount of variety and the price point for this AYCE sushi is amazing and makes Masa definitely worth the visit.
