I can always rely on Midori Sushi for fresh fish and creative special rolls. My go-to is the special roll + regular roll combo for lunch that I haven't found at any other sushi shop. There is a plethora of special rolls to pick from, but I always gravitate towards Crazy Roll, Volcano Roll, and Blue Crab Fantastic Roll. I wouldn't really recommend other foods besides sushi here. Things like tempura udon, hibachi, etc leave much to be desired in flavor, consistency, and more. Service is very quick and efficient, and they are attentive in filling water & tea. Overall, Midori has had my heart since college due to their affordable lunch combos, and will continue have me coming back for them. read more

TLDR: Great quality food if you order the right stuff Like many sushi restaurants the menu is extensive including tontkotsus, udons, salads, rice bowls, and others beyond the sushi. That said, at a restaurant like this the challenge is about ordering the right dishes. We ordered the beef negimaki, Midori chips, and sushi/sashimi combo for two. Each of these items we ordered were simple dishes that were carried by the high quality of the ingredients. Beef negimaki was tender and flavorful; midori chips were a surprisingly tasty bite (fish goes better on a Pringle than you'd expect); and the sushi combo was fresh and beautifully presented. Masa Roll was awesome! Also enjoyed the Kani Salad. I was so happy to find them open after 9 PM (after I enjoyed a movie at the nearby theatre). Customer service was excellent. Friendly staff. We order from Midori a few times a month. During Covid they were very accommodating. The sushi and hibachi are always fresh and they have so much to choose from. When we have a gathering we order a tray which is extremely reasonable. We highly recommend. They also deliver and they delivery person is always so kind. Love this place - best sushi in the area! I normally go for lunch & there is a myriad of choices for lunch specials. I normally get a specialty roll & a regular roll which comes with miso soup or I get the 3 roll special. They spicy mayo is very tasty & the wasabi is plenty strong! Place is nicely decorated & tables are spaced out - a plus! Service is average - at times you have to get their attention. We ordered teriyaki chicken and OMG it was the worst - really hard and chewy chicken and flavor was odd. We had to throw away in trash. Disappointing that the restaurant couldn't make a simple teriyaki chicken ... and the price was $17 for a dinner entree of this teriyaki chicken..will never go back again... I've come here twice, both times with Groupons, and if I return, it would only be that way. Midori is a decent place to eat, I just feel like it's lackluster. I always have a bowl of the Katsudon, as I can't see it coming to another table without the smell wafting by and making me want rice and fried pork. The first time I got it, it was a Delicious treat, and very filling. The second time it was drowned in sauce and making it feel more like a soup with a slab of soggy pork on top which I did not appreciate. My hubby had the steak and shrimp hibachi, which was perfect. It's not made in front of you, but the flavors are fantastic. I do think that the price is kind of ridiculous at $21, for an average portion. The place is BYOB, sadly I always forget and there is no liquor store in this plaza. Oh and you do get a free bowl of edamame with your Yelp check in. Spring rolls were mushy and disgusting, gyoza was mediocre at best. Later that night I had horrible stomach issues from their food.

Sushi was ok, they provided very little ginger and Wasabi, although I asked for more.

Generally I have found Midori Sushi to be decent quality, reasonably priced, and employing excellent Chinese staff. Not this time. I ordered a Midori roll and a spicy salmon roll to go along with miso soup. However, within five hours, my stomach got quite sick. I had ordered the lunch special in person and paid in cash. When I arrived to take-out my food, the woman at the front counter asked me my phone number. I told her I had paid in cash. She screamed at me in Chinese trying to tell me what I had ordered or didn't order. I pointed to the menu and showed her what I had ordered. And yet she continued to yell. Her manager, with whom I had placed the order, had to come out and resolve the situation and apologized to me. I mentioned I have been going to Midori Sushi for 20 years and no one had ever treated me so badly. The manager apologized again but the young woman would not. She would not even look me in the eye. Life is too short. Anger management training is clearly needed. read more

Went here last night for Date Night and to use our Groupon! I'm a loyal customer of the Midori in Highland Park, but it was lovely to go to their Princeton location. This restaurant is open, modern, trendy, and beautiful inside! Its strip mall location is deceiving! There's a cozy little waiting area by the front door. It gets packed during the weekends, so it's always nice to wait somewhere pleasant. We arrived at 6:30PM and were seated promptly at a table for two. Our waiter brought us warmed towelettes to clean our hands before eating. Lovely! My husband ordered their special Masa Roll, Shrimp tempura, asparagus, inside, outside, spicy crab top w. mango, and their Midori Spicy Tuna Roll. I ordered a side of Hibachi noodles, sweet potato roll, and avocado roll. I wish that they had special Vegetarian rolls, but I suppose I could always ask them to create one for me... Like a Siddhartha Roll... Yum! My husband's sushi was colorful and delicious. I enjoyed my rolls as well, but their sweet potato tempura was hard to chew! I didn't taste stale, but it wasn't easy to eat. The noodles tasted fishy; hopefully they weren't cooked near any seafood. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my food. For dessert, we had Red Bean Mochi. At the Midori in Highland Park, we usually get two pieces of mochi, green tea and red bean. We weren't able to do that here. ): I still ate all of the mochi though! Midori has been one of my favorite sushi places for over a year now. The fish is super fresh and the staff is super nice. They really know what they are doing here! The special rolls are awesome. It's also a BYOB! The last time I was here we ordered the Phoenix roll (which I think is one of the best), the OMG roll (which was huge and fun), the Imperial Dragon roll (which has a BBQ flavor which is interesting), and the Amazing roll (sweet and tangy from the mango but pairs nicely with the salmon). I've been ordering here for years but I feel the quality has taken a turn for the worse. The spicy tuna barely had tuna in it. I'd say it was 75% crunch flakes, 25% tuna and slathered in way too much spicy mayo. I ordered another specialty roll and it was also drowning in the crunchy flakes and spicy mayo. It makes all the rolls taste the same. Probably a cost reduction strategy as the rolls barely have fish in them now. My kids on the other hand loved their shrimp tempura and Philadelphia rolls but if you want to actually taste the tuna in a tuna roll, maybe request no "crunch." read more

Midori is one of my regular sushi restaurants. Though I usually order take out, this time I dined in. The restaurant is nicely decorated, dimly lit, and spacious. Pop music played in the background. The service is quiet but attentive. I ordered a combo sushi dinner with spicy tuna, California, and Alaska rolls. It came with a warm bowl of Miso soup. The Yelp offer is a free $5 edamame. I also ordered a Kobe beef appetizer. The thinly sliced and seared beef was quite tender. Overall, I had a great experience and prices were decent. Nothing was beyond special though. Oh my goodness! I am crazy about their crazy roll. That sushi was so darn good! wish more places made their tuna like they do. I'm drooling just thinking about it right now! We ordered to go so the edamame wasn't hot. They didn't have a lot of salt on it which was nice because then you can add the amount you want. The miso soup was quite nice as well. Midori is a very small place but if you go there you will see that the statement "don't judge a book by its cover" is true! Midori has some of the best sushi I've ever eaten. Some of their specialty rolls are so tasty such as their Hollywood Roll that you feel like a new person after dining. And if you do not want sushi and you prefer other asian cuisine then do not fear! Theyre hibachi noodles and rices are large and taste great. We come here at 220pm to eat and the first thing the check in lady says you have to leave the restaurant by 3pm. I politely ask do you mean kitchen closes at 3 or we have to eat and leave before 3pm. She says you have to get out by 3pm There is not a single customer in the entire restaurant. I felt so disrespected and the restaurant couldn't care less so we left. Their lunch specials are unbeatable. I order salmon avocado rolls for lunch more often than I care to admit! I really enjoy the hibachi veggie lunch special too; it's a good sized serving of veggies and noodles, with a side of miso soup or salad. Only once or twice out of the many times I've ordered from here was the salmon a bit too fatty, hence the deduction of one star (I'd only take off half a star, if I could!) How sad. We thought we had a new favourite sushi place, but no longer. And seriously Yelp, why do my reviews keep disappearing? We've been here at least a dozen times over the past year for both lunch & dinner. There's parking, the sushi is generally fresh & pretty--served w/edible flowers! The servers are incredibly sweet & competent. But then there's that prick up front. We called at 5:20 last night Do you have the table by the windows? Yes--it's open. Can you reserve it for us, 4 people, 1 high chair? Sure, no problem. We rushed the 2 kids, who were in the bath at the time & arrived at 5:55. Yay! Table still open. We got to the front desk. No, you can't have that table. What? It's reserved. We just called to reserve it. Someone else called to reserve it. We just spoke to you. You can have this other table (which views 2 TVs so that your kids can't possibly concentrate on dinner bc, well, TVs!). Can you turn off the TVs? People are watching the game (looked around at the other 4 tables sat--not a single family or couple was watching the game). Please, can we just get a high chair & would you turn off the back TV. People are watching the game. Um, no one is watching the game. Is this the type of service you give your customers? We called to reserve a specific table, and now this? My spouse was livid. Honestly, ALL they needed to do was say "I'm sorry, we made a mistake." That's it. But no, he had to be obstinate and downright rude. I'm not in the "customer is always right" camp, but rude FOH staff kills businesses. It's the reason we haven't been back to Blue Point. I asked that they turn off the back TV. My daughter tried to watch whatever on the front TV, so the other patrons got to hear "please stop looking at the TV" over and over and over again during dinner. Thanks. BTW, as more people arrived, still, no one wanted to watch Nascar on their TV. With all due respect, going out to dinner is not the same as going to a bar. If we wanted TV & dinner, we'd go to Tiger's Tale or Conte's, not sushi, which is supposed to be relaxing. So the food. The Midori Chips are really good--think sashimi cubes on pringles. The tempura last night was greasy. I'm not sure how I managed to come here regularly over the past year and totally avoid the bathrooms--I'm not a total germophobe--but they were rather gross last night. Toilet paper everywhere & that smell. If I had seen it when we had first arrived, we would have left. I kind of expect old, cold, & kind of gross rest rooms in every Chinatown restaurant or old bistro in Paris, but not in Japanese restaurants. Thankfully, I hid my disgust and my happy daughter did her business. Her father has her trained well--she even thinks port-a-potties are awesome. We ordered our usual: sashimi platter, tempura, spicy tuna hand roll, edamame (they FINALLY honored the free one from Yelp--every other time they made up some lame excuse for why they couldn't honor it), eel avocado, spider, salmon something, something in a pink soy wrapper, yellowtail & jalapeno. It was mostly good & fresh, though I did have to spit out an edamame because it tasted funky. The yellowtail was a bit fishy. The server really helped to make up for the (expletive) up front, but I can't imagine coming back. I'm not a fan of take out as dining out is supposed to be an experience--a pleasant one w/good food, good service, no TVs, no clean up. It's nice that they have these training clips for the chopsticks to help the kids learn, but if you ask to take one home, they get mad & say no (are they reused? we've generally gotten them freshly opened at the table, but they don't want to let you take it home). So I put my order again and when I came back they blamed me for giving them the wrong number. I gave them my number several times and I even double checked my number on them. How can it be wrong? I really like Midori for Princeton-area sushi. There is a great selection on the menu and the lunch specials are very decently priced. Although I have never had any of the kitchen items, the sushi is fresh and tasty and usually very well presented. The appetizers and special rolls are a tad bit small for what they are really which is why I knocked them down a star. I can't really justify spending large amounts of money on an appetizer i finish in 5 small bites like the Midori chips, which are really just Pringles with fish on them. The lunch specials are a great deal because they give you lots of options (including special rolls!) so thats usually my favorite time to go. We been looking for a while for a good sushi place between Somerville and Princeton and now we found what we were looking for. We are already planing our next visit to Midori Sushi III and it very likely we will visit the place regularly. 11/20/2015 - we still love this place, three years after we discovered it. Stan and I frequent here when we have late night cravings for Japanese food and don't want to drive too far. It's pretty pricey and the food is "good" at best. It's not bad, but not great either. The prices don't make the food worth at all in fact, but it is convenient due to its proximity to us and convenient delivery option. The restaurant itself is nice to sit in and enjoy your meal. This is a welcome new option (mid-2012) for lunch for those of us working along the Route 206 corridor. This is located in the Skillman/Montgomery border on Route 206 in the Princeton North Shopping Center. It is next door to the Princeton Fitness & Wellness Center. The sushi is slightly above average compared to other restaurants in the Princeton-Hopewell area. The miso is a bit salty but ok. The bento box lunch (around $10) is superb, with lots of yummy sides. My colleague's three-roll lunch was enormous and filling. The dining room is comfortable, nice and sleek. The service was good and efficient. read more
