I ate here for dinner tonight with my boyfriend. I'll share my thoughts on the food, service, ambiance, and parking. Food: * Samosa chat -- So flavorful and had just enough spice for me. It could be shared between 2 people. Recommend by the gentleman who took our order. * Dahi puri -- I had never seen this offered in an Indian restaurant before. I thought it was delicious. It was like a samosa but with a crisp puffy round shell. The individuals were round and cute. Could also be shared between 2 people. Was also a recommendation. * Masala House special goat biryani -- big portion with what felt like a good amount of meat. The meat had bones, but I expect that with goat meat. The goat was tender. The rice was so flavorful, not oily, and not too salty. I also enjoyed the yogurt sauce it came with. Also liked that it came with an egg, which made the dish feel more hearty to me. I thought the mild had just enough spice and wasn't overbearing. * Masala House special chicken curry -- the mild for the curry felt hotter than the mild for the biryani. I only had one bite, but thought it was tasty. Not too salty or oily. My boyfriend enjoyed the curry with the naan. * Butter naan -- 4 large pieces of naan. I didn't get to try it, but my boyfriend seemed to like it. He ended up finishing the whole tray. * Masala House special chai -- Came hot, so be careful! It was smooth, milky, slightly spicy, and so flavorful. To me, it was the best cup of chai I've had. Service: We were greeted right when we entered the restaurant. I think the gentleman who greeted us was the owner. He was so friendly all throughout our time in the restaurant and even gave us suggestions for the street food menu. I really appreciated feeling welcomed and well taken care of. The gentleman even offered to pack my leftover food for me. That was cool and I had never been offered that before in a restaurant. Ambiance: Classy and clean interior with what sounded like Indian music playing in the back. Not too fancy though to the point where I felt out of place wearing shorts, shirt, and sneakers. To me it was a warm and inviting place. Parking: Parking available right in front of the restaurant. If you're not able to get a parking spot that close to the restaurant, there are plenty more parking options around downtown that are still walking distance to the restaurant. Masala House gets 2 big thumbs up from me. I would love to come back and try more items off the menu and hopefully have room for dessert. read more

This is a nice little rare spot with the best garlic naan. there is some eclectic tastes on the buffet. I was really glad to try the pineapple lemonade and the mango lassi which came with the buffet. This place sadly didn't live up to the hype. I came in because I had an Indian food craving, and it wasn't great. The tandoori chicken looked a bit undercooked, including pink at the bone. The goat curry was pretty good, but I wish the chicken was better. The dal maknhi and lentils were both really good, and I enjoyed that spice, but I wish there was consistency. Also, if cleanliness is your thing, then this place isn't for you. I went to the bathroom before I started eating to wash my hands, but there was no soap or toilet seat covers. I told the employees about it, but nothing was done about either. Service was really slow as well. Including myself, there were three other groups when I came in, and when I entered the restaurant, the hostess asked if I wanted naan. I asked for garlic naan, but it was really slow coming out. Had the lunch buffet ($18.99 per person). I've been going to Swagat for a while, decided to try this new place. Overall I enjoyed it and would come back. The major difference between the two places is that Masala House has a slightly smaller selection (but still good), but it has drinks included with the buffet so is an excellent value. Masala House has a smaller selection of items, but they taste very good. They had about 8 main dishes, two bread, and two dessert. The meat dishes were: Chicken curry, goat curry, and fish. Unfortunately there is no butter chicken or chicken tikka masala at the buffet. They had a paneer dish which I think was in tikka masala sauce? It was decent, slightly more on the tomato side than the creamy side. Would have loved to see butter chicken, as that seems to be always be a crowd favorite. They also had yellow dal, kidney beans, veggie pakora. The food wasn't too spicy, a couple dishes had a slight kick to them. My favorite dish was the goat curry- the meat was very tender. A pleasant surprise was that the buffet includes self serve mango lassi and pineapple lemonade. The drinks were really good, the mango lassi seems to be less sour/yogurt and more sweet, while the lemonade was less sweet, so they balanced each other out. Places usually charge about $4 for mango lassi, so having it included (and all you can drink) makes this buffet much better value-wise if you were going to order drinks anyways. Service was excellent, very welcoming. I went on a Tuesday when the Farmers Market was going on, and there was still plenty of parking. A TERRIFIC SURPRISE FOR US! My wife and I had gotten take-out and occasionally dined at Himalayan Cuisine in this location over the past 5 or more years. I called today for the first time in months, and reached MASALA HOUSE, the new establishment there. Told that they DO have a Sunday buffet, and that they don't use black pepper, which my wife is allergic to, we drove right over. As soon as we came in, we felt a real energy in the air. The place was jumpin'! We noticed that every inch of the relatively small space was being utilized, but in an appealing, not stifling, way! The buffet was quite extensive and compactly arranged. There was even a second counter with mango lassi and raita. The main spread included saffron and white rice, a paneer dish, aloo gobi (cauliflower and potato), dal makhani, tandoori chicken, goat curry, butter chicken, pakoras, and several dessert breads. Chai and naan (we chose garlic naan) were brought to our table. Everything was delicious! People kept coming in, families and couples and a group of 4 elderly folks who sat behind me but faced my wife, and she said that every time one of them got up, the person made eye contact with her and gave a big smile! It is that kind of place! The two owners...Aran, I think, and his partner, were continually hustling here and there, greeting people, wishing them well as they left, bringing the chai and naan, supervising other things...and always smiling, friendly, and attentive! Stopped by Masala House yesterday on our way to Farmers Market. Very impressed with the service. Their street food is very authentic. It brings me the memories of high school when I went Chadni Chowk in India. Paneer Biryani was Soemthing I never thought would be impressed by!! You gotta try their Chicken 65, it was so freaking good. I am not lying fried cashew in Chicken 65 was the bomb!!! Masala soda was also very good. I forgot to take the picture. Was debating coming, but I'm glad I gave it a try. I got the buffet for $20. The food was so delicious. Every entre was amazing. The chicken is super tender and flavorful, you can tell it's fresh, not just reused from earlier preparation or buffet. My husband and I went to the Grand Opening of Masala House with a friend today. It is located where Himalayan Cuisine used to be. We had the "All you can eat buffet" and ordered some street food and lassi. The food was some of the best Indian food we have had in the area in a long time and some of the menu items (like Egg Curry) were unique that I haven't seen in other restaurants. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance was calm and there was music playing at a good volume. I am excited to go back and try other menu items. A friend and I love Indian food and decided to try Masala house. We were trying to find a good Indian restaurant in the area as we work in Concord once a week on Tuesdays. We ordered their buffet and loved the butter chicken, dal, biryani rice, chicken tikka, and vegetable pakora. They did have other items, but I was too full to try them. They also give fresh garlic or plain naan which is brought to your table. We really enjoyed our buffet meal. We also ordered their chai tea which was made fresh and the mango lassi was perfect and not too sweet. I am hoping we get to try different items next time hoping to try their saag aloo/saag and fish pakora if they have it as a buffet item. Minus a star as the chicken tikka was too dry and hard so we were unable to chew or bite into it probably because is left on the buffet tray too long. We did not realize they have the mint and tamarind sauce near the register until we were finished. Maybe a suggestion to put it with the salads in that area. It would also be great to have the chai tea similar to the mango lassi. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorating, and we love the table settings. The girl and the owner provided exceptional customer service consistently checking on us! Customer service is everything, and I hope they will continue to add more items to their buffet and keep up the great service. Love the ambiance, food, and service!!! The ambiance was quite beautiful!! It's awesome to eat outside especially at night time. The surrounding is pretty safe and by downtown. The food taste really good. My husband and I are not into much of indian food because of it's spices and the level of spiciness, but this one is an exemption. I also love their Mango Lassi. It perfectly goes with the taste of the food (my opinion) We had the chance to meet the owners and they're very accomodating and the customer service is outstanding. I really love this place. I ordered to go on all occasions. Service is good and quick however i noticed that the food is not consistent. Chicken biriyani i had today was super salty (both the masala house soecial and the dum biriyani) including all the samosa when i did bot have that problem before. It was so delicious the first and second time but i dont know why it tastes so much saltier today. They also forgot my raita for two of my chicken biriyanis and i had to go back in and ask for it. I also ordered a chicken tikka which was still pretty good but also i dont remember if there was supposed to be 8 pieces of naan or just 4 pieces of naan but from the first time i had ate here I was pretty sure I had 8 pieces of naan bread for my butter chicken? Friendly staff, came in at 1pm on a Sat looking for a simple buffet meal as we were craving Tandori chicken & the incredible flavors of Indian food. We found the freshly made naan delivered to the table to be incredible, perfectly crispy along the edges. But the buffet did not meet our expectations, pans were scrape the bottom low or empty. What was there were limited. We waited a good 15 minutes for more chicken as there were only 2 tiny pieces in the pan. When the few more were added they were again, a few legs and some small chopped chicken pieces I didn't recognize, possibly thigh parts, they looked like the end of a chicken leg? Overall, we left filled and happy we gave Masala House a try. Will try ordering off the menu next time. read more

The food from this place was a huge hit at our event! I purchased a half tray of their Chicken Biryani for pick up for an event. The food was freshly prepared and ready on time.
