Decided to roll the dice and see if the reviews were true.. Once again the yelp family sent me to a fantastic place. We all ordered something different to test try and were no disappointed AT ALL!!! My fav was the fried chicken and the 4 sample moonshines. The staff was over the top very attentive and made sure we were all good. Price was right and the atmosphere was better. This place is highly overrated. While the service was great, the food was extremely mediocre. I ordered the biscuits & gravy and they were completely dry and hard even smothered in gravy. Since San Antonio is so lacking interesting restaurants, I am always excited when new ones open and ever hopeful that it can be anything other than the usual chain/fast food that is so prevalent here. I find myself ambivalent about Mash'd, the menu looks pedestrian and technically - this is a chain restaurant with locations in Fort Worth and Frisco - but I can not help but like my first visit here. I went with my family and we shared a few items like we often do when trying out a new place. We ordered the wicked hot wings- which were not as hot as we would have liked, but we have a very high spice tolerance. We also shared a caesar salad with salmon. The salad was good but the salmon was cooked to a very dry consistency. Credit to the restaurant for noticing that it was not eaten, asking why, apologizing and taking it off the bill. We did not complain, but it is nice to see the wait staff so attentive. We then had a cheeseburger. We ordered it medium and received it absolutely perfectly medium with a very juicy pink center. They use Akaushi beef and you can taste the quality in the large patty they serve. A really great cheeseburger! We finished the meal with a dessert with their chocolate/nutella pudding with moonshine whipped creme and it was yummy. Actually, I have to say that the food was very good! Very fresh and using high quality ingredients. The staff is passionate about their ingredients and their from scratch concept. Maybe the menu is not exotic and just has the basic staples, but they do it better than most and all of us left the restaurant quite pleased and looking forward to returning. One final note, not being from Texas or the South--the only thing I knew about Moonshine was the myths that it makes you go blind or can poison you--so basically knew nothing about it. Was really impressed with my first try, they infuse it with pineapple and spices and it was strong and delicious. I greatly look forward to more moonshine research at Mash'd! read more

Great casual restaurant. Went with my fiancé and had a great night out. We were immediately greeted by two upbeat girls and instantly felt the fun vibe. We ordered the wings (Siracha and wicked hot) and they were delicious with our cocktails (Blue moon mojito and bootlegger mule). The cocktails came in mason jar glasses and the atmosphere was chill and fun! Our dinner was great as well. My fiancé had the ribs and I the fried chicken sandwich. It tasted amazing! I had a wonderful experience at this Mash'd location. We went out for dinner, and sat on the patio because we had a couple of dogs with us. Our waiter, Shannon, was phenomenal! He was attentive to all of our needs, as well as the needs of the four-legged guests. He kept drinks full, which was nice in the San Antonio heat. A MUST TRY place and very unique. Great and unbelievable Pizza...WOW!!! Burger was over the top great. Fantastic outdoor seating. Service was perfect and everything is made fresh to order. The one big complaint is that this is a VERY LOAD atmosphere and for no reason....just VERY LOUD rap type music and hard to hear anyone at your table. The drinks and food was highly creative. The bar seating was not ideal and, what I can only assume was meant to be "love seat" type bar stools, made the bar crowded and awkward. The service was mediocre. It took almost 15 minutes for my husband and I to be acknowledged, but once the young lady bartender started helping us service improved. At one point I over heard two waitstaff persons talking about their discontent for one of the table they were serving. Does not make for a pleasant experience. Let me start by saying I enjoyed the food. Our party of 5 arrived for Sunday brunch at 11 a.m. and the restaurant was very busy. From the time we were seated we were rushed by the waiter, Kevin. We quickly ordered our drinks, but the drinks didn't arrive at the table for some time, after our meal was served. We asked about the drinks and Kevin said the bar was backed up. Ok, the place is not that big and we ordered bloody marys & mimosas which is on the brunch menu, and I assumed pre-made. After we had 30 seconds to look at the menu Kevin asked if we were ready to order. We said can we have 1 minutes and his reply was "we are about to get really busy".....basically telling us to hurry. Kevin also never returned to fill water glasses or to ask if anyone wanted another cocktail. He quickly brought the check that was completely messed up. Good vibe, good atmosphere but it took over 30 minutes to get the Benny's Skillet and it was disgusting. I have had other dishes here and the food has always been really good. The Benny's Skillet is their take on eggs Benedict. All I could taste was the burnt spinach. They put the spinach in the hot skillet and by the time it gets to the table, it has scorched itself to the skillet. There is no meat in the dish so don't let the menu fool you. The chorizo biscuits aren't what they sound like. I will go back but I will probably skip the brunch menu. It's not very exciting. read more

Came here on a whim on Friday to meet a friend visiting from Dallas. Sat at the bar just for drinks. Bar staff was super friendly and attentive especially Drew and Alex. We had some peach moonshine and a blueberry drink that was amazing. We met Jeneva who told us about brunch and how amazing it was. This morning we did decide we wanted pancakes and French toast because we were hungover from the night before, so we decided to check out mash'd again on Jeneva recommendation. London was so amazing and was able to get us reservation last second outside. After playing musical chairs because of the rain we were lucky to get Jeneva. She was super friend and remembered us. I know dealing with hungover people always isn't fun. After the night we had last night we didn't think we were going to drink. She was super knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. We were hesitant to get drinks but the way Jeneva describe the drinks we said what the hell. She recommended the s&s tea and the blueberry smash. The s&s tea was a perfect starter because it wasn't too alcoholic and it was like tasting grandma's sweet tea. Jeneva got our drinks out fast and was so tentative to us, I don't think my water my water got halfway until it was refilled. That's impressive because most place you have to ask or wait 10 mins to get a water refill. I ended up getting more drinks and made Sunday into Sunday funday!!! I don't know about y'all but being hungover, the last thing you want is to drink. Kudos to Jeneva for the recommendations!!!! I asked Jeneva what should get to help me with my hangover. I was looking at the tator tot eggplosion but, Jeneva recommended the southern egg fried. All I can say is that eggy weggy chorizo goodness and chuck Norris gravy def it the spot.... Any hangover I had was gone and I ended up ordering 2 Moscow mules. If my friend didn't have to drive back to Dallas I would probably still be there drinking. My friend visiting Dallas killed his French toast, before I could even try it. My other friend who had the manhole pancake which was massive like the size of a spare tire massive. They def don't skip on portion size here. I was about to get a bite of the pancake, when Jeneva stopped me and told me there was pistachios in there. She remembered I had a nut allergy. For me that speaks volumes for someone to be so tentative and knowledge about there product. She pretty much saved my life but more importantly Sunday funday!!! I hear club ER doesn't have great drinks. Our overall experience was very delightful especially being in the state of mind we were in. It's nice to have someone serving us who care about there guest and that's how Jeneva made us feels. We probably wouldn't of came back today if it wasn't for her so thank you Jeneva you will see us often! I will def be a regular and make sure I bring my friends from out of town.
