The service and food were phenomenal during our lunch visit! Dina our server was outstanding and attentive ! The manager , Chris greeted us and came by and checked on us in a very none obtrusive way! The French onion was the best! The Executive Chef, can out and asked how we liked the food! Of course our response was nothing but praises! Service and food top notch!!! The Wagyu Burger and Wine lunch was delicious!
Nice upscale restaurant, lots of seating, very nice staff. The food was delicious and so were the drinks and wine. Our first server wasn't great but they were quick to reassign us to a wonderful young lady that was great! Parking is ample but they also offer valet.
I'm so impressed with the impeccable service and hospitality! Celebrating my parents 48th anniversary and the entire restaurant made the experience well worth it! I loved our server Chris, hostess was absolutely gracious when I called for same day reservation as well. Food was out of this world, and happy hour made it even better. I can't wait to come back again!! Parking for valet was a nice touch as well.
I was excited to try the Capital Grille in San Antonio as it is relatively new. I had a perfectly cooked NY strip steak that was melt in your mouth, cooked to perfection paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon wine and the flourless chocolate espresso cake for dessert. I highly recommend the bread service because the variety of fresh breads they offer are so good! The service was perfection as you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber and the dining area as well as the bar area are beautifully decorated with a warm old world style decor.
I am traveling this week and am absolutely delighted that I came in for dinner. The bar was not busy and my server Brodney was absolutely wonderful. He confirmed my choices and made my small adjustments with zero fuss. The Tuna Tartar was absolutely the best dish. A great balance of fresh tuna, sweetness from the mango, with a slight spice from the Sriracha. This dish was perfectly prepared and plated. I also loved my salad and the scallops were such a nice pairing. Still thinking about it. I also loved their wine list and was happy to see many of my favorites available even for just a glass. Stop in if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed!
We had Valentine's Day lunch at The Capital Grille and the staff truly made it so special. Our waiter Samuel A. was absolutely top-tier ,attentive, professional, and made the whole experience feel elevated. The GM Chris also went above and beyond, and another manager (didn't catch his name) even let me taste the lobster bisque, which was amazing. The food was perfect. My sea bass was delicious, my fiancé's steak was cooked perfectly, and we loved the spinach salad and calamari. The Capital Grille is such a classic spot where you're treated like a genuinely appreciated guest. We'll definitely be back!
Just WOW! Loved everything about this place! Music was a good level and the lights were moody... It was my birthday dinner, but I never tell restaurants that. I read on a FB post that they'll give you champagne and a dessert for celebrations, so keep that in mind! The service was outstanding! I'm so sorry I didn't get our server's name. When we raved about our dinner, the server told the Chef and he came out to chat with us...He also signed a little thank you note on our to go bag. Fantastic job, Chef DJ! They bring out an assorted bread basket to begin, along with a little smoked salmon bite. We ordered Ribeye, Scallops with Lobster Asparagus Risotto, Lobster Bisque and Creamed Spinach. The Ribeye, Bisque and Spinach were some of the best we've EVER had...delicious and such a treat! I loved my Scallops and Risotto, as well. They have a lovely wine list. They recommend business casual dress, to keep with the upscale vibe. They have a great happy hour M-F, 3-6, with a selection of small plates and drinks.

The steak done exactly how I like it Rare! Our server was Madison, she was amazing. The manager David, came by and checked on our table and was super friendly. If you're looking for good food and great service you have to come by. I understand they'll be having a Capital Hour that sounds amazing. I wish I lived closer to one of their restaurants so that I could try it.
Amazing steakhouse. Honestly one of the best ones I've been to! The service was upmost tier and extremely attentive. Wine selection was amazing, the reds were great. You gotta get the seafood tower, worth it! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The lobster mac n cheese, had to order a second. We did get a room, it was quiet and spacious. Lovely jazz music. Had a spectacular time!
My dear neighbor and friend, Michele, took me out for a birthday dinner. We tried @thecapitalgrille for the first time. I had a mocktail and Michele had red wine. For the entree, Michele asked if they served an 8-ounce filet instead of 10-ounce and they made it happen. I had the Pan Seared Sea Bass and that was perfection. Michele enjoyed a side of sauteed spinach. We were served a complimentary dessert of the cheesecake and flourless espresso chocolate cake. Both so decadent! Everything was fantastic!
Finally, San Antonio has earned the presence of Capital Grille! I was introduced to Capital Grille in 2008 in Vegas and have been to locations in Manhattan and Houston and tonight's experience met my expectations. Tonight we were a party of 7 celebrating a birthday and we had the elevated signature experience that no other place can match. From Valeria who answered the phone with a last minute reservation change, accomodating my request. To Amato our server and David a manager who greeted our table, and several other employees who kept our drinks filled, I am very pleased to say that we had a memorable experience! Everyone who works there carries themselves with dignity and very tidy appearance and cordial manners! Great job Captal Grille!
Came in to celebrate my kids back to school / college with a nice dinner!! Basket of complimentary bread. The large saltine crackers will just make you thirsty-no taste-no point-we did not eat them. The raisin bread was delicious but my favorite was the ONION BREAD OMGGGGGG We ordered the following: Appetizer: Tuna Tar Tar sooo yummy - just please add more crackers I only counted 5 half cut crackers. I asked for more and our server literally took about 15 min to bring back 3 half broken crackers. It was a joke. Don't be stingy. Main: Kona Crusted - Yummy Filet 8oz x2 - Yummy Ribeye w mushrooms -Yummy Sides Sharable: Mushrooms - Not much flavor bland Lobster Mac & Cheese - it should be labeled for 1 because it's such a small portion. I counted maybe 4 small pieces of lobster. Not enough for family of 4. Truffle Fries - nothing to brag about...basic fries w Parmesan cheese on top and maybe a hint of truffle Wine: Flowers Pinot Noir x2 Sparkling Water x4 Overall, it was a good dinner. We know it's still a soft opening but not sure if it can get better. Our server was very timid, took forever to bring back what we asked and forgot to pack onion bread to take home w our leftovers. When we had arrived we asked our server about the security boxes with wines in them. He explained you can "rent a wine box," but you would have to buy at least 3 wines from the establishment and they'll be happy to open a bottle(s) when you have a dine in dinner. Additionally, he said it's $1,000 fee to rent the box and to put your name so everyone can see who it belongs to. Exclusivity- I get it. We were interested so he called the sales rep to throw us the pitch. The sales rep then told us a different story- that we had to buy a minimum of 6 bottles and we get 15% each bottle plus the $1,000 fee. Before we left, nobody followed up on our interest. Again, the steakhouse is good but there are other steakhouses with more bang for your buck and much tastier food in my opinion. Family of 4 total of about $675.00
The long awaited arrival of The Capital Grille to San Antonio has arrived. Tonight was opening night and everything was perfection. As we drove up to valet (complimentary) we we're immediately greeted by Marco. We then entered the restaurant and were greeted by the entire host staff. Our waiter Jeremy was very attentive throughout our visit. I absolutely love a restaurant with amazing service and The Capital Grille did just that tonight. The tuna tartare with avocado, mango, & sriracha was excellent, very fresh and packed with flavor The wedge salad was delicious and the smoked bacon on top was perfection Both of our steaks were seasoned beautifully and cooked perfectly Definitely get the lobster mac & cheese & the creamed corn with bacon.. both were excellent And last DESSERT the coconut cream pie ... soo delicious Highly recommend making reservations and giving them a try. Such a beautiful restaurant, very welcoming. Welcome to San Antonio

Ate here for my wife's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service! When I made the reservation, I mentioned it was her birthday and they signed a card for her and had confetti splashed on the table. Kurt and Shelby did a fantastic job serving us. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The general manager (I believe his name is David) stopped by our table to wish her a happy birthday. We shared the bone-in ribeye and sautéed spinach. Very well prepared. The atmosphere was classy, and I was pleasantly surprised at the dress of the customers. Definitely a business casual crowd - I didn't see anyone wearing shorts! They provided a complimentary dessert and the cheesecake and chocolate cake weee very good. read more

Spectacular service of very good food. The entire staff did a great job of recognizing our anniversary dinner. Sam A. Had a good balance on attentiveness, he did not interrupt when we were talking and added a good sense of humor that is sometimes missing from higher end restaurants. Thanks for a great dinner. Excellent fresh food, fast service and great atmosphere! Their first lunch here today! We had a great lunch and saw the old manager from Eddie V's here, Chris. He had things rocking today and the place was full and very busy! They started us w some fresh bread w the best butter ever! Then we had the lunch plates of my clam chowder, my wifes salad, our entree of salmon w couscous and a super great helping of delicious coconut pie. As u can see i did not have to request more whipped cream! Lol. We loved it all plus tjey had TX paintings on the walls including Oilers Coach Bum Phillips! What a place! We had an amazing time celebrating my husband's 40th birthday here! The steaks and salmon were excellent, and I really appreciated that the food came out steaming hot -- that's a big plus for me. My margarita was a little too strong for my taste, so I didn't finish it, but that didn't take away from the overall experience. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere made it feel like a special night out. Definitely recommend dressing up a bit and enjoying the evening. Cheers! read more
I'm not docking any stars because nothing was really "wrong" but I wasn't super impressed. It definitely doesn't make my "Top 5 Steakhouses I've Ever Had" list. To compare, my number one is III Forks in Austin lol. One complaint I did have is we had to keep asking other waiters for our waitress and it wasn't until a whole hour of being there that she finally took our food order. We enjoyed our drinks until then. We all had the filet. It wasn't anything spectacular :/ everything really was just okay. Not any of the apps stood out. Mashed potatoes, lobster Mac, brussel sprouts. The corn was probably the best. My martini was really good though. I had to get two lol. So, yeah nothing really "wrong". Just underwhelming in taste. read more
The restaurant both inside and outside were beautifully decorated. You are warmly greeted as you walk in. The staff was pleasant. The menu was easy to read and simple not many pages to comb thru. Our party of 5 has the NY Strip, 2 salmon entrees, roasted chicken breast and filet mignon with a very tasty side with choice of soup or salad. For dessert we had the cheesecake and what tasted like homemade coconut nut cream pie. The desserts are definitely shareable. Overall we had a great experience and plan to return. read more
Sad to say that this restaurant was just ok. The lobster bisque lacked that rich flavor and was not as tasty as I wished it would be. We had the dry aged porterhouse steak that needed flavor and was dry. The asparagus was ok but needed something else. My favorite part was The Doli cocktail was great with the added simple syrup and I also liked the creamed corn with bacon. The service decent and informative, but we waited a bit longer for our food to arrive. The restaurant was very well decorated with original paintings and the special lighting. Romantic but food was just ok. I expected more. read more

This place was fancccccyyyyyy. But they had a good lunch special. The bread and crackers with butter were quite filling. Steak and sauce were awesome and the waiter even offered to box up our leftover bread with our leftovers. read more
Gorgeous establishment! This is definitely a special occasion place. We had a lovely fine dining experience . We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Reservation required. We started with delicious drinks and the lump crab cake. Outstanding! We moved on to a perfectly cooked ribeye and sea bass. Also quite delicious. Out sides were lobster Mac and cheese and asparagus. The asparagus were not my favorite but the lobster Mac was amazing. Our dessert was a coconut cream with a salted caramel drizzle. Outstanding!! We also received complimentary mini crème brûlée cheesecake and chocolate cake. The cheesecake was ridiculously delicious! We also received complimentary champagne. The service was impeccable throughout the evening. Can't wait to return. read more

The setting -- elegant interior, steakhouse-style ambiance -- makes it a solid pick for romantic dinners, date nights, anniversary celebrations, or other special occasions. Bathrooms were nice! Music wasn't loud at all! Parking was very easy and in a very good location! It's a great little sample hour for the appetizers and i liked it! Sat at the bar and had good service as well! read more
The Capital Grille is located near Fiesta Texas, just off I-10. Getting there was easy for us, but we were able to take access roads the entire way. It may be a hassle for those coming from the south, though. We had reservations for 1345 since we were both off for Veterans Day. For some reason, when we checked in at the hostess/host booth, we were left standing there for 5 minutes. There was no reason given, the place was barely filled ,and there were no other patrons waiting to be seated. With two hostesses standing at the front, we gave each other a side-eye that said, "Do we really want to eat here?" We were finally led to a booth on the fringe of the dining room. If you've been to one Capital Grille, you pretty much know what this one looks like. Typical steakhouse ambiance, except not as dark as it usually is during dinner service. Our server arrived about 5 minutes after we were seated, presented our menus, and took our water preference and cocktail orders. We both ordered cocktails from their menu and also requested the pan-fried calamari and a Caesar salad to split. The calamari had a delicate, crispy exterior and was perfectly tender. It has a mild, tangy spice from banana and/or cherry peppers and is absolutely worth the visit. I would return just for that dish. **UPDATE: we went back as a "make-up" and the calamari was tough. I retract my previous statement** The Caesar salad came on two plates and had a dressing that was thinner and more lemony than I'm used to. It was a sparse salad of romaine leaves that had sat too long in the acidic dressing, so it was beginning to wilt by the time we ate it. I'd skip that next time. About 10 minutes after we ordered, our server brought our appetizers and took our entree order. I ordered the steak frites lunch plate, which came with your choice of a soup or salad. I selected the New England Clam Chowder. I requested a medium-rare plus, specifying that I prefer it closer to medium-rare if need be. My husband ordered the bone-in NY strip cooked medium-rare. We finished our appetizers and noted that we still hadn't received our cocktails. I asked about them, and he told me they were just about ready. He returned a few moments later with the cocktails. The flow of service was disjointed throughout the meal because we were offered "bread" after receiving (and sending back one of) our entrees. The "bread" was a type of lavash, not a slices of a loaf. He mentioned that the other bread they served wasn't finished baking. We told him we were fine and passed on it. My clam chowder was run-of-the-mill and didn't taste like it was made in house. My steak was overcooked, almost well done, so I asked him to take it back. He badgered me about keeping the fries to "snack on" while I waited, repeatedly asking if I was sure and how he insisted on my keeping the fries while he replaced the steak. I told him firmly each time that I would like to enjoy a complete entree and not "snack" on anything. He finally respected what I was telling him and returned the plate. The exec chef came out and made a big to-do about presenting me a properly cooked replacement steak, which I thought was a bit much. The final result wasn't seared properly, but was seasoned well and cooked to the proper temperature. By that time, however, my husband had finished his steak (after I told him to eat it before it got cold), and the whole hassle of returning it made me lose my appetite. I took it home and ate it for lunch the next day. We spoke with the GM, who sympathized with our complaints and welcomed our compliments. Later, he would email us to apologize again and extend an invitation to give them another opportunity. We will, but I hope we have a more streamlined, courteous experience than this one. read more

I had to double back because...of course it's Capital Grille! I came back for the Black Tie Margarita. It's a great drink and trust me you'll love it! Go try it for yourself. It was pretty strong as well! I thought it really was a black margarita, but it's the cup that it comes in that's black. ;) read more

I have never been to a Capital Grille so was thrilled to see this one under construction. It is a beautiful restaurant, but also welcoming. Bar is upon the entrance and was crowded when we arrived at 6:30pm. Hostess was engaging and brought black napkins for those of us wearing black, great touch! We were a party of 5 sitting in a half round booth and 2 chairs. Our table was in the middle of the restaurant. Great atmosphere! Our waiter, Kurt, was wonderful! He made great suggestions and we never felt rushed. Most of us got the tenderloin with lobster tail and it was one of the best steaks I have had and the best lobster I have ever had, it was cooked perfectly! Kurt's recommendation of getting the steak medium rare was excellent. Great dinner! I look forward to going back soon. read more
Its been a long time I ate at Capital grille in Milwaukee in 2013. It was my sister birthday and I was in Texas. It has been a more than a year I went to visit my family who left Chicago. Anyways as usual It was delicious with their age dried steak. I ordered the porterhouse. A bit salty but if you have the right red wine it actually goes well. We also did on the table family style so there was sauteed spinach with garlic which was very delicious. Sauteed mushrooms is also very delicious as well I didn't really care for lobster mac and cheese to me that's like going to fast food or home instant food even though this is supposed to be a bougie restaurant. The pumpernickel bread was delicious with some raisins and some of them. Everybody else ordered something else they all were enjoying especially the sea bass that my cousin ordered since she came along to I did like butternut squash with apple soup it was out of the usual then eating New England clam chowder or lobster bisque. There is also some fries that I did not care for that was from my cousin's boyfriend. Service was amiable Brandon was a really good server or host. Ambience was a bit dark but I guess that's what they want to give you that dim lit romantic feel. I finished off with a dessert the coconut pie which was not your traditional coconut crust they had like a cookie wafer a really thin one that was delicious other than that very expensive if you have seven people but if someone else's covering the bill shoot anything taste delicious other than that if it was me also I would come back it's been a long time since I've been to Capital grille I'll probably have to take my older sister back in Chicago to a Capital grille since she never had one. Overall, it was just okay. The service was pleasant, though noticeably more refined during dinner hours--when the prices are also higher. Unfortunately, the filet mignon was a disappointment; we've had better quality at the LongHorn Steakhouse just a few steps away. It lacked the signature crust and proper sear you would expect and was excessively over salty. The seared tuna also seemed to be of lower quality compared to a previous dinner event we attended there a few weeks ago. Creamed spinach was just ok (too heavy). This made us wonder whether the late-lunch /early dinner menu (our reservation was at 3 p.m.) offers a lesser experience. This was our Christmas Eve meal and we left unimpressed. read more
Outstanding meal!! We celebrated an early Valentine's Day here yesterday and had a wonderful meal. We made a reservation and were pleasantly surprised by heart confetti on the table - such a thoughtful touch! The restaurant is very upscale looking and is perfect for special occasions. We had the privilege of having Lanson as a server who gave us recommendations and efficiently made sure our meal was exactly how we wanted it. The complimentary bread service was yummy and we enjoyed the wedge salad and calamari. Our steaks were flavorful and expertly cooked. The truffle fries and asparagus were nice shareable sides. For dessert the chocolate cake was a win. So decadent and perfect with the cream and fresh raspberries. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the ladies restroom had two stalls without toilet paper which is not what you would expect at such a nice place. However, despite the restroom not being equipped with necessary supplies, we had an amazing dinner and will definitely be back! read more

From start to finish, our experience at The Capital Grille was fantastic. The complimentary valet attendant set the tone--friendly, professional, and even opened the door for us as we entered. Once inside, the restaurant was busy and seating was backed up a bit; we arrived 10 minutes early and still waited an additional 20 minutes. However, it wasn't too bad, and we were seated in a private corner booth that was perfect for date night. Our server, Brad, was exceptional--warm, personable, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were spot on. We started with cocktails (the Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar and a mocktail version), which were both excellent. The pan-fried calamari with hot cherry peppers was a highlight--crispy, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. For sides, we tried the parmesan truffle fries (amazing) and the soy-glazed Brussels sprouts with bacon, which were flavorful but a bit on the tougher side. For mains, the 10oz filet mignon (cooked perfectly medium) with three pan-seared shrimp was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the 14oz dry-aged NY strip was one of the best steaks I've had in years--seared, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Brad's service alone would have made us want to come back, but paired with food this good, The Capital Grille is a definite return spot for us. The only minor downsides were the cramped waiting area and the fact that the dress code doesn't seem to be enforced (several guests in shorts, sandals, and t-shirts). That said, it didn't take away from an otherwise outstanding dining experience. read more
TLDR; Service: 10/10 (The best customer service experience out of any upscale restaurant I've been to). Our phenomenal waiter was Max. Food: 10/10 (Highlights: Lobster Mac and Cheese, Filet Mignon with WIld Mushroom and Fig Essence, their lemonade) Ambiance: Upscale, expect to pay for the high quality experience and attention to detail. We saw the staff cleaning each wine glass under a light to ensure there were no fingerprints, stains, or particle remnants). Great for celebrations, dinner date. We almost canceled our dinner because of our reservation time. Thank goodness we didn't! We came out to celebrate my bf's Dad's retirement. Our reservation was set for 9:15 PM, and Capital Grille closes at 10 PM. We thought we'd be rushed to eat and that coming in that late would ruin the experience. What we actually experienced defied all expectations. Our waiter, Max, was extremely thorough and attentive. The other waiting staff made sure our drinks were always full and even the supervisors checked in on our experience. At one point, my bf's Dad was joking about how he was making his own lemonade (he likes to squeeze lemon into his water). Well, the lady filling our drinks must have told our waiter because they started sending out complimentary lemonade for him! Which, by the way, was delicious and I recommend you get it. Max even gave him some lemonade to take home. We were also given samples of their signature Doli drink (pineapple vodka). It was tasty, and although we didn't order the full drink, it was nice we got to try it! It was smooth, light, and got us in a great mood. Our food: Bread basket (complimentary and refillable, our favorite was the onion bread) Lobster Mac and Cheese (we are VERY picky on our mac and cheese, and I would HIGHLY recommend getting this for the table. It's delightfully light, tasteful amount of breadcrumbing which we typically don't like but Capital Grille does it right!) Filet Mignon with Wild Mushroom and Fig Essence (perfectly cooked as requested, slightly sweet flavor from the fig essence, perfect portion size - I was full but did not have anything left to take home) Hand-Carved Ribeye (very generous portion size, expect to get full and take home plenty for leftovers) Tenderloin with Lobster Tails (perfect portion size, soft. This was my bf's order and he said "I didn't know every bite out of a steak could be perfect. This tastes like a warm handshake.") It was well after closing time when we asked for our check, but Max insisted we get dessert. Again, we received a complimentary dessert to celebrate the retirement, and the managers came personally to also congratulate him. The dessert I believe was a "fun-size" Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake and The Capital Grille Cheesecake. Both portions were delicious and just enough for us to share a taste, I recommend you get the full size. While we were eating the dessert, we joked about how upset his wife would be that we went out without her to celebrate. I suppose Max overheard because he came out with another dessert plate to take home with us simply because he didn't want her to feel left out! I have never had that happen to use before at an upscale restaurant. Customer service goes above and beyond here. We truly felt like we were welcome and there was no rush - in fact - it felt like they insisted that we stay and get the full experience and everyone was so tactful, polite, and kind. Big thank you to Chef DJ and his team, the managers, and the waiting staff that makes the Capital Grille experience so memorable. P.S. The only reason why I know the Chef is because he puts his signature one every to-go bag. Great attention to detail. read more

I am not sure. However when we went there for lunch during the week everyone was dressed business casual.

Business casual; a nice elegant feel; It's a classy place.
Do they have a bread service?
Not necessarily however they offer a variety in the basket the bring out.
