Have been going to Mash'd in San Antonio for several years now, when visiting family. I was disappointed to see that they no longer have their moonshine menu and seem to be completely steering away from it altogether. Why is that? It is what made that restaurant unique. I was also surprised by the meatloaf dish that I had ordered (which I have had in the past). It was one slab of meatloaf next to a circle of mashed potatoes the size of a cookie. There was no effort in the plating of this dish and definitely not the portion I had received in the past for the money. This restaurant seems to be just like every other restaurant now and not unique. Unfortunately, we will probably move on to the other unique restaurants in the area. One of my new favorites! I loved the ambiance and the food was great (and reasonably priced). I like to eat a little cleaner when possible. We went for brunch and enjoyed the $2 mimosas and I had the mash'd eggsplosion, which I would definitely recommend. My boyfriend got the steak omelette which he said was good, but not great. I was a little disappointed in the breakfast potatoes - just a little bland in my opinion but I am a potato lover. We will definitely be back to try other meals and happy hour! read more

The food can be a hit or a miss. we had the spinach dip omelet. it was an omelet with creamed spinach drizzled with sour cream and tortilla chips strips. It came with side of potatoes topped eith salsa. It was really good. I highly recommend it. My husband ordered egg fries with "chuck Norris" gravy. the chips had chorizo and came with 2 eggs served sunnyside. It came in a cast iron pan. While it was good, the dish was over salty and the bottom of the pan oily. The gravy was really good though. This dish was a miss and I feel someone in the kitchen botched up a dish which clearly is meant to be good combination of ingredients. Overall this place gets busy, its nice to sit outdoors on a fall day. We were told the wait time is 30 minutes but in reality we waited only 15 minutes read more

Just ok. The queso was very good with freshly fried chips nicely seasoned. The bulgogi tacos very salty with an overly sweet sauce and only lightly dressed. Nice atmosphere and great crowd. Drinks were overpriced to be just mediocre. I had the fried Pepperoni Rolls and wings to start. The pepperoni to breading/batter ratio was off. The dough was too thick for the little bit of pepperoni that was stuffed in there. The gravy dipping sauce was good but not for these rolls. Gravy + pepperoni = just NO! The sirachi-garlic wings were decent as well as the moonshine bbq, but nothing to rant and rave about. For the entree I had the chicken sandwich, needless to say I would take Chick Fil A over this one. The chicken breast was too flat for all that bread, so essentially it tasted like I was eating a coleslaw sandwich with a little bit of chicken. The fries were good though, but it took an act of God to get some regular ketchup. Whatever dipping sauce came with the entree was terrible. Their food is amazing! We loved everything we ordered off the menu and we got a large variety. I ordered Bulgogi Tacos and I would get them again, so tasty. Queso was amazing! The cake w/ ice-cream deal we ordered was very good but way too much for even 4 people. Great value for $15, but you really need at least 5-6 to truthfully eat this desert. Maybe its cause we were so full already but you need a lot of help to eat it all. We are already plotting when to go back! The moonshine wasn't for us. We tried a flight of moonshine, their sangria, and frozen drink called illegal endeavor. Maybe its just a preference but I would just stick with a beer when we go there again, none of us are big moonshine fans but we've become a fan of the food. read more

The food we had was ok chicken with biscuit and Chuck Noris gravy and shared crab and shrimp volcano. The food had decent flavor but way too much salt for my true liking. If you are a salt lover by all means eat up. The drinks are for grown ups if you are a light weight stick to the beer. The drinks remind me of this old hole in the wall joints and ice house with a real coin jukebox in the corner. There were more things to try maybe a burger if I ever return. I like the old country bar look and the atmosphere the Service was good. I'm from Houston this spot is in San Antonio so it's unlikely I will return it was not impressive enough and there are too many other spots to try. I forgot to mention my wife really like her food and drinks and the Bar keep changed my drink out for something more to my liking when he realized I was kid trying to be grown up. Lol 47 years old actually. Any way the Management is great they even messaged me. I think I'll do a motorcycle trip and take some friend to try the many varieties of moonshine. The food taste disgusting!!! I walked in looking for my friend who was already seated. The person up front stopped me and said she must be in the bathroom. Started to try and seat me with me telling them she is already seated. I had to call her and show them to her before they would leave me be. I ordered and the food was gross, so I asked for an order of fries and a cup of queso. She brought me some cold fries and then brought me the full appetizer of queso with chips. Ugh second time not listening !! Had to pay for all of the disgusting food and I didn't even get to eat. $30 down the drain, well I should say toilet.. yuck, never again!! read more

The service was great but the cocktails and food were underwhelming. Boyfriend and I both had cocktails, I had the mojito- he didn't finish his and mine was alright, but a bit watered down? The goat cheese appetizer was a bit weird with tomato and a sweet/savory combo going on, but they were super nice to bring extra bread to help us finish the potion. My beet salad (which I love beet salads) was alright- but nothing to write home about. Everyone was super nice, but the food didn't do much for either of us. We really wanted to like the place but the food didn't really make us want to come back. Stopped in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. They have some cool drinks and moonshine. The Rim is always nice and this place is a must when you are there. Our sever was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the serious queso w/ fried chicken, blue berry mojito, sangria for starters. The Sangria at $7 bucks was tasty but weak, mojito and queso were awesome. We then tried the shrimp plate, chicken sandwich, and the scotch cake. All the food was excellent. Scotch cake was tasty but I've had better yellow cake desserts at home. Overall our meal came out to 78 bucks with tip. Definitely on the pricy side! It's best comparison would be whiskey cake and I would rate a coupe things higher here vs WC. I enjoy the food much more at Mashed than the WC. Drinks are equal. WC wins on dessert. Went to mash'd with my in laws on a Friday night and service was mediocre at best. I requested a shot of tequila and triple sec on ice and was served a margarita, which was not what I was looking for. The waiter forgot my nephews order and my husband and nieces side items. When I requested no dressing on my salad he said ok, but then informed me that no dressing was not an option when he physically brought me my salad. On top of all that it was really hot in the restaurant, drinks were melting really quick. I will say that the Cake was good, however I don't see myself visiting Mash'd again. read more

Okay so this place came out of left field for us. It was some of the best food we have eaten so far. Shepard pie was fantastic with it's special spiced meat. The potatoes were fluffy and the bottom layer had a surprise flaky pastry that paired wonderfully and helped tie the dish together. I can honestly say I have never had a better Shepard's pie. My love ordered the ribs and the both of us were excited about how good the sauce was! But the thing that made the place was its staff. Our waitresses was like a noble friend, cute as can be, she tended to us like a true pro. Our food was out faster than I had seen. And she handled our drinks as smoothly as possible. I am not a moonshine fan, but if I were -- wow this place is a dream come true! Located in the edgy San Antonio area called "the Rim", full of great restaurants and general fun (bowling, movies, outdoor seating). The Agave drink is superb! Drunken Snow Crab is steamed in a bag, somewhat salty but that is to be expected. Food menu is limited, but the ambiance makes up for it. The server was knowledgeable and offered (on a few occasions) to answer any questions that we had. We both enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and our food was fresh and delicious. Came here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered wings for an appetizer which they came out nice and crunchy and sauced well. We also ordered cheeseburgers, BBQ rib sandwich and bulgogi taco. Everything came out great and tasted amazing except the taco could have been fried more...,once it cooled off it became very soggy. Having never had moonshine before, my husband and I decided to try out Mash'D. It's always nice to try new or different things and it's cool to have something like this in San Antonio that isn't downtown. I have to say though that moonshine definitely is NOT for me. It's pretty good in the mixed drinks though. The pineapple bomb and Sangria were pretty tasty. Our server Jorge was very helpful and knowledgable on the menu. The queso was also pretty good. I just wish it wasn't so dark in there. Love the reverse happy hour from 9 to close! read more

We stopped here for a break and let me just say the name itself caught our attention! We sat at the bar and our bartender was Alex, we freaking love her! So sweet, interactive, informative of the menu, loved loved loved her character and how she was so inviting! We had the Legit- Guac for our app and 4 different signature cocktails. They were all awesome and I can only imagine the rest of the bar menu is just as badass!
