Service very slow. It was busy so that was understandable. Appetizers came out 20 minutes apart, and the red flags began to go up. Then, 40 minutes after ordering 2 prime ribs, the server comes over, says "out of prime rib," tosses 2 menus on the table, and leaves. How can you run out of a regular menu item? It would be understandable if it was a special, but it was not. Poor management and very poorly handled by the server. By now it was a comedy of errors. When she comes back to take new orders, it turns out she only wrote 1 prime rib down. I had ordered a side of Cole slaw with my prime rib. When I had to reorder the entree, I ordered a dish that came with 2 sides. One of which was Cole slaw. 2 minutes after placing the new entree order, a bowl of Cole slaw shows up. Warning! Don't place a delivery order with this restaurant through their own website. I ordered food through their website and the food never was delivered. I received an update on their website stating my food was delivered but it wasn't delivered to me. I contacted the restaurant and spoke to the hostess only be told that they use Ubereats to deliver their food. You would have to take it up with Ubereats about your delivery and refund. I told the hostess no I didn't order using ubereats; it was placed on your restaurant's website. I shouldn't be going to Ubereats for an issue that wasn't business transaction with them. We went here today and I have been here once in the past and the portions were tiny Two appetizers cost about $40 the bang bang shrimp appetizer & was literally five shrimp and the it was short rib quesadilla was 1 quesadilla cut in half. We ordered 2 barbecue entrees to split the brisket was four slices.. short rib was literally two by two it was good but it was tiny. The mashed potatoes were good but a very small serving. The Mac & cheese was made with American cheese. 3 other guests had a triple decker sandwich, & a Cobb salad and 1 guest ordered salmon with two sides the salmon looked very small. We were with an older woman who only wanted a hotdog off the kids menu she was told she has to order 2. So much for senior discount she's a retired nurse. Been coming to the Mason Jar on and off since the mid 1970's when I was a student at Ramapo College, right down the road. Food quality has gone up & down over all the years. My husband, who I met at Ramapo 40+ years ago now stop in for a few drinks and their delicious nacho platter. We usually sit at the bar where there are people even off-hours and TVs, with sports games. My big complaint is their choice of news stations on the TVs. They only show FOX news which is super right/conservative/pro-Trump. I'm not far left but this irritates the crap out of me when I'm trying to relax. Sometimes I feel like an argument could erupt at the bar (not from me, just the vibe that channel gives) Why can't they put on something else, anything? There's no sound. How about some Mr Bean or nature shows? Music videos? Why have such a divisive, polarized news show? We can all watch what we want at home. Are the owners thinking enough about this? DO NOT GO HERE AND GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS OR MONEY!!! Sadly Yelp only allows for so much but in a nutshell, here is why. We went to the Mason Jar on 7/26/25. My husband & I along with our 2 kids were meeting up with our friends (husband and wife) to celebrate her birthday and just to have a nice meal. We arrived at 6:15 and the waitress Darlene was sarcastic and rude. We got our drinks and ordered appetizers within 15 minutes of being there. As my friend was opening her gifts, the waitress started pushing everything around in a hurry-up manner. When we got our food before we could even take our first bite, Darlene was asking if we were good, if everything was ok (again in a rushing way). My friend and I had gotten the personal pizzas. We were both only one small slice in and I was taking a breath in between to digest as any normal human should do and my friend ran to the ladies' room and by the time she got back and I blinked, our pizzas were being boxed up and the rest of the appetizers were being shoved in the boxes. My husband was hardly done with his burger and her husband still had a half rack of ribs and his sides on his plate as she was asking who needed boxes to pack up. WTF??? We saw there was a band setting up so we inquired. Thought it would be nice to maybe catch a song or two before we headed out but didn't realize we were on a time limit and were being stalked by the staff and the rude manager. Darlene came back with the check in hand and had not even asked us if we wanted desserts which we did, and said we weren't ready for the check yet and wanted to get coffee, tea and desserts. My kids were entitled to free dessert from their meals so even if we didn't want anything, my kids were surely going to get theirs. As we were looking over the dessert menu, Darlene proceeded to tell us that she had reservations for our table at 7:30 and we needed to hurry up because they were there to see the band and requested that table. Again mind you it was only 7:15 and not we were not even there for an hour. So now you can see , appetizers brought out at 6:30, food rushed out by 6:50 and being rushed to leave by 7:15. WHAT???? The jerk manager proceeded to tell us that they now have a 2 hour time limit on tables and when I said we weren't even there for an hour and a half, he said "well roughly 2 hours but you have been here long enough and had your meals and someone had this table reserved" so I proceeded to ask then why sit us here if it was reserved and got no response. The people that were supposed to be sitting at our table were literally at the table next to us that we asked to be moved to and seemed just fine but started gossiping and making comments about us. I guess it's our fault that your stupid staff can't figure out how to arrange tables and not treat one person over the other like total dirt but still expect the bill to be paid in full. We argued with the manager (all 4 of us chimed in at this point) because he was being arrogant and not even apologizing for being rude, treating us disrespectfully or even offering us a discount for treating us so poorly and he just made one disturbing comment before walking away. Yep he is the type that had to get the last word in and vanish as if he was right for the way he treated paying customers. The bill came out to $272.48 and sadly with a party of 6 we were automatically hit with the 20% gratuity and the nasty, sarcastic witch got $42.40 for lousy service with a poor attitude. My advice and suggestion....run and don't waste your time and money coming here. Go elsewhere and find a place that will treat customers with respect, offer a table that you can sit at and enjoy the time with your family or friends and not be pushed out because the snobs need to sit in a specific table and that the food is more enjoyable at a price that doesn't cost you an entire paycheck. read more

If you're looking for a greasy buffet in a crowded place with bedraggled waitstaff, this is your place. The food is okay. I don't know what oil they use to cook things, but whatever it is, it's too much. For a place called by a tool in the home canning process, I expected the food to taste more fresh, more home-cooked, but everything tasted like fast food. The servers *seem* overworked and understaffed even though many of them are just standing around. Even so, it was difficult to get anyone's attention. Have not been to the Mason Jar in years. We thought we would give it a shot as we wanted to check in on the music too, which was quite good. Unfortunately, the food was very mixed. We ordered the smoked wings. They were excellent and were quickly devoured. Unbelievably, our entrees showed up as we finished the wings. Way too fast. It felt like they wanted to move the table, though I think it was just poor timing from the kitchen as they were happy to let us stay after we finished dinner. My wife had a cheeseburger. She asked for medium rare, but it was a bit too done. Not terrible, but not medium rare. I ordered the brisket sandwich, which was extremely dry. It had a decent smoked flavor, but unfortunately it was way too dry. Overall, very average. We were hoping for better with Finks now gone. read more

It's generally Boomerville with a playlist to match. Think Beast of Burden played by graying beasts. Came here with a group of friends originally for their buffet brunch, but ended up having their BBQ. I've know about this place for a long time, and whenever I get the chance I come out for their brunch. They don't have one of those brunch menus, but they actually have a "brunch buffet" style feast. I'm a HUGE fan of these types of brunches, because you can actually fill your tummy up with lots of good food. When my party and I arrived we were told that they do not offer their buffet brunch in the summer time. This was upsetting, and I wish I had known beforehand about this. Nonetheless, before I walked into the restaurant I got a big whiff of something being smoked outdoors, and it smelled delicious. That aroma lingered in my head when I made my decision to order. Their BBQ platter (for 2) was as good as it gets! I've been to Austin so nothing quite compares to Austin BBQ, but the meats here were tender and very tasty. They offer 2 styles of ribs: Memphis or Kansas City. I was also surprised by their homemade BBQ sauces (regular and Hot & Tangy, which was not spicy at all). This platter for 2 came with a big salad, and your choice of 2 side dishes. It was DEFINITELY worth the money spent @ $42.00! Besides their BBQ they have a pretty big menu with lots of delicious food. The Sweet Potato Tots with Cinnamon dipping sauce was phenomenal, and I wasn't expecting it to be that good. This restaurant is big, and can accommodate large parties. They also have a bar with plenty of TV's for those Sunday Funday games, or any other sporting events. Very friendly staff that are always around, our server was simply amazing. AND, most importantly, plenty of parking. FYI Buffet style brunch is only served during the non-summer months (Fall, Winter, and Spring). read more

We came in on a Monday night not knowing it was open mic night. What a surprise! We were initially greeted by who I assume to be the owner, a man, and he informed us that the wait would be a few minutes then went into another room. Then the hostess appeared and told us it would be a 40 minute wait and that they were short staffed. I mentioned that the man had just told us a few minutes. She said oh okay. While we waited for a table a group of four men walked in and she asked if they had a reservation. They said no and then she sat them, without mentioned the "40 minute wait" AND before us! The hostess was rude and very unpleasant. There were other comments exchanged but I won't get into them here. As the front face of this business she should be replaced or as the least given some training. If this review was strictly for her alone I would give a ZERO. The restaurant was indeed short staffed. We were informed by the only waiter we saw. Until a younger boy came out who looked terrified. We later found out he had been a bus boy there for awhile and tonight was his first night waiting tables. He was great other than being a little nervous! The other waiter was great as well! Very personable and you could tell he was busting his a** to get to every table. We ordered the baked Bree which came out with burnt jam on top. We asked for more jam on the side and it was fine. We also orders the burnt ends with Mac and cheese and onion rings. As well as the brisket and rib combo, with Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. The burnt ends were DELICIOUS! I had the French onion soup which was good, and the mozzarella triangles...also good (better than a standard mozz stick) We also got the spinach dip, which was not good... it wasn't hit, it was bland, and the chips were stale. I wouldn't care normally, but since the burger is already very expensive ($15), why should we get a service charge for omitting a bun? Mason Jar is such a hidden gem! I was staying nearby because I wanted to beat the traffic going to Woodbury on black Friday. I grabbed breakfast here and it was super tasty. Went there on a Saturday night. They have built a large structure outside to allow for covered outdoor seating. There was live music that night and the band was really good. Service was not so great but I feel that short staffing is probably the issue because our server was really nice. The food was good pub grub... Had their Black bean burger with sweet potato fries. Both were delicious and unexpectedly the black bean burger came with two patties. Overall was a nice experience especially if you're looking to hear some live music on a weekend. read more
