Wow, never knew about this place until I needed some cherry wood for a project. They have all kinds of wood for your wood projects and make it easy to shop there. The cashiers at the front office were very friendly and accommodating my first time visit there. They do offer custom millwork for those special needs. read more

I am new to woodworking. Mason's Mill primarily caterers to professional woodworkers and cabinet makers. Their warehouses are clean, well organized, and well stocked. I seriously doubt that there is a sheet good available anywhere that you won't be able to find at Mason's Mill. I also have an excellent stock of hardwoods. They have several exotics, but they have a fabulous supply of those hardwoods that most people use. The first time I had ever been in a lumber supply house like that, Rane help me understand what I was doing, and what I was looking at. She did that even though she was at the end of her day and had other things to do. The entire staff is friendly, and very helpful. What you won't find at Mason's Mill is a whole lot of hand-holding. This is a mill and lumber supply company that caters to professionals. As long as you're good with that, their prices are excellent as is their selection. I love this place. read more

These guys tried to rip me off. Invoice said "pin hole knots". They tried some old boards that have probably been sitting around for years. Then, damaged boards in delivery and snuck off before we could okay it. We drilled and drilled them about quality boards. After we complained manager lied and said they told us they wouldn't be good. Then WHY would I order any. So disappointing. Be careful with these guys. read more

This place is a rare find in this day and age! Excellent variety of products with sales support eager to assist and inform you on product and price. The staff is friendly, the prices are more than competitive and the quality of the plywood is superior to that of a big box store. Everyone is smiling and good-natured. Even I was smiling after I paid for my purchase. Two people assisted in order, I wish I had gotten the gentleman's name he was helpful, I had to follow up on something and Melissa jumped in to assist as the previous person was on the phone. She followed up w a phone call to give me the window for delivery, which was delivered at the front end of the window and not the last minute. Even the delivery crew was helpful and nice. Definitely, the only place in Houston to get Lumber. Now if they could only develop a catalog! Great Place ! read more

I have to say, I went back and was treated well. They got rid of the cell phone requirement and they did a better job of helping us out on the shop. Maybe the first trip was a really bad day but I ended up going back because I was desperate for a piece of Walnut and they had a great selection. It's a little slow to access but that wasn't an issue to me. I want to thank whoever got rid of the mandatory personal information requirement because that's a deal breaker to me, I'm very private with my information and appreciate being able to pay cash for things without being given the third degree. read more

I was looking for quarter round moulding to match one color style of our 50-year waterproof for a retailer installation. And, they had what I need. High quality. It's a guy thing... wood. Raw, cut or burning, it doesn't matter. We like the smell. Many of us like to work with it... except perhaps trimming small tree branches and bundling them. ,--_--;___________ | / \ | | | \_/ |vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv' \___; . . .. . . .. Depending on context, the word 'stud' has different meanings, especially in Yelp Forums. But I needed studs (wood) and good quality trim boards to match our older house's trim. The big stores and most lumber yards don't carry the trim I needed, so I came to Masons. And, no, I am not a Mason... but, speaking of Masons, can you crack this Freemason code: #&%$@ ? I digress. No, that is not the meaning, but back to the review. I could have hired a contractor to do this small trim work, but by the time I got home from work, it would have been up and painted. That is, I would not have been able to smell the wood. Did I mention it's a guy thing? I took a sample of the trim to Masons and they were able to duplicate the size, profile and pattern (curves and notches). Besides straight pieces, they can do trim to match radial or oval archways. Ahhh. The smell of fresh sawdust. And it was free of glue chemicals used in plywood and engineered wood (the kind that looks like chips you might use on the grill, but compressed and glued). The best thing about this sawdust is that I don't have to vacuum it up. P.S. Masons Mill advertises that it is a green business. The workers here are friendly, helpful and calm. Of course! They get to smell wood all day. read more

We are in the process of building a home and I was trying to find an 8" shiplap pine siding with an 1/4 reval. Could not find anyone that had it in stock, so I started goolging and came across Mason's Mill. They were able to mill exactly what I wanted and the lumber came out with no knots just as I had requested. They can mill just about anything you show them. Since then we have been using them for the rest of our wood for the trim and cabinetry. They have birch plywood that is NAUF (No Added Urea Formaldehyde) from Epicore. The carpenters love it. It's not full of voids like the formaldehyde free plywood at Home Depot by pure bond. Very high quality green plywood. We have ordered nearly $20k plus in various lumber and cabinet parts from them and we have been very happy with the quality and service! Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I've been working with Sam and he has been a HUGE help and is a wealth of information. He has always been very tentative and goes the extra mile. Their prices are also competitive too. Can't go wrong by using them. read more

I used to sing the praises of this place until today. Looked around the warehouse and found what I needed. No one in there offered to help. After 20-25 minutes of waiting I approached an employee and asked for help. I told the employee to finished the paperwork she was doing. Then she disappeared. So I go to the sales office where I get a ticket and am told to take it to the warehouse where someone will help me. After more than 5 minutes in the warehouse and no one willing to help me, I walked out. I doubt I will be back and will certainly share with my fellow woodworkers that Mason's Mill & Lumber does not need our business. read more
