So glad we stopped in here, what a find! I had read the rave reviews and they were spot on! My husband ordered the teriyaki plate with chicken with Killa sauce and I ordered the eggplant burger and a side of fries. Everything was yummy. I especially loved the hot and very fresh french fries with Killa sauce (that sauce is a must have!). My husbands teriyaki plate was awesome, the chicken was incredibly tender. Mitch, the owner, gave me the secret to his delicious, melt-in-your-mouth chicken. What a lovely gentleman, making sure all patrons were welcome, he even got us talking to our neighbors about NYC, it was like a party! We left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. We've now been twice and neither time has been good. The menu is bizarre and felt like greasy diner food- it is not worth it. There is no identity or cohesiveness, and the items they offer have so many good restaurants in town that offer them. Plus the owner is aggressive and unpleasant on social media, bullying the community into giving him business. Unfortunately the quality of the restaurant doesn't deserve it. read more

We just flew in from NY and the first stop that we made after stopping at our hotel was Masons. We first ate here last November and I have been dreaming about the Chili Aioli Crispy chicken sandwich ever since. It was off the charts the first and second time that I had it and the third time was even better. It is without a doubt the best chicken sandwich I have ever eaten, and it was made even better by pairing it with a side of their addictive fries. I asked for a side of the out of this world Chili Onion Aioli to dip the fries in and was so impressed with the flavors. Mason has to start selling this sauce( along with his incredible home made hot sauce) so that everyone can have a chance to enjoy it. I would eat my sneakers if they had either or both of these mind- blowing sauces on them. The quality of the food really shines through as everything is prepared to order and it shows. My wife had the Eggplant Veggie Burger and she was really impressed with the way that all of the ingredients combined with the excellent bun to create a world class gourmet sandwich. She had the light and fluffy sweet potato fries with it and I stole quite a few of them as they were almost as great as my fries. Add to it the funky homey vibe of the place and the fact that Mason is a genuinely nice guy and you have a place that should be at the top of everyone's list to eat at. We will be back a couple of times within the next few days to try some of the burgers as someone was raving about how great they were while we were there. If I could give the food here 10 stars I would. I fully expect to see the complete line of Mason' s Kickin' Ashland's Sauces online and in stores in the very near future. read more

Thought I'd give the new restaurant on the block a try. I had the veggie plate and made it 'killa'. The rice, beans and cheese were excellent - the veggie add-on was good, but a little on the skimpy side. I would definitely 'make it killa' which is some pickled stuff and their special sauce. Am currently on a road trip with 2 young kids from Seattle to Long Beach and stopped at the Ashland Japanese garden to stretch our legs. Was looking for something kid friendly nearby to pickup for the road and found masons on main. We called in the order, took about 25 min but they could not have been nicer about the wait. We ordered the kids quesadilla, kids burrito, killa chicken burrito and killa chicken quesadilla. There's a tanginess to the burrito that I loved. Try the fries! Just perfect! Carefully crafted menu. I had the Eggplant Veggie Burger at the suggestion of the owner. Not an eggplant lover but would have it again here. Lots of health conscious options, fair pricing, a good place to enjoy with friends. We are so lucky to have this restaurant in Ashland! My YUM rating is definitely 5 *****+! We got the chicken sandwich and we paid the $3 up charge for fries. First off let me start with the good: -Great prices! It's hard to get a decent portioned meal for a reasonable price downtown. -Awesome, helpful, and friendly staff! -Flavorful food! It's always disappointing when you go out to eat and the food tastes like something you could make at home or just doesn't live up to expectations. That is definitely not the case here! This is pretty big coming from me but this is probably in the top two best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. It was damn good. Nice big portion and plenty of flavor. It could have used a bit of salt and more sauce though. It's really cool that they use thigh meat in the sandwich! This is a really big compliment from me because I don't even normally like pickles AT ALL but the pickle type paired with the aiolis and spices was incredibly harmonious tasting and it really heightened the whole sandwich experience. This is definitely something I can see ordering again. it's still top two best chicken sandwiches I've ever had! The not as good: -Being honest, the fries were very not great. My partner didn't seem to mind them but they were some of the worst fries I've ever had. They seemed overcooked and undersalted. They were okay with ketchup but they tasted like hot cardboard. Luckily, that's just one person's opinion. That said, I don't really think there's anywhere in town that has good spiced fries which might be a fun specialty item, as it seems like Harvey's place is focusing in on high flavor -which isn't a bad way to go. As someone who works with design: as fun as your logo is, it being the only thing on the sign doesn't give me any information as to what type of business it is when I walk along the sidewalk. It doesn't mention anything about food or the name of the business; threw me off when I was looking for the place. I would change the hanging sign out front to have the name of the business as well as some sort of indication that it is a restaurant and some clues as to the type of food (like maybe an emphasis on flavor, price or speed or whatever, like " Harvey's place, food with killa flavor" or something.) I know that these are all secret sauces but a little clarity about what to expect from different sauces makes it a lot easier to imagine what things are going to taste like. As someone with one dietary restriction it would be nice to see even just a general list of ingredients under a description. In my opinion, while being its own thing, the sauce that we tried was a bit like a thousand island STYLE sauce. I don't think there's any harm in throwing comparisons to other sauces underneath even if it doesn't sound as cool and takes away some of the magic of a secret sauce but I have seen other restaurants do this with things that are "ranch style" sauces where they can still retain their secret but give a clue as to the type of sauce. Currently it's described as tangy, but tangy is just an adjective and doesn't necessarily say what's causing the tangy flavor... is it vinegar? is it lemon juice? is it etc etc. And finally, on the burger; while I'm sure that it is as delicious as described, I fear that the inclusion of organ meat will be a huge turnoff for a massive portion of customers. Not to say that people won't still order it and enjoy it but there's always the perception issue. It may be childish and non-adventurous for me to have food hang-ups but if I have them regardless I'm still not going to order the food -and I suspect a lot of people will have a similar hang-up. It's a bit disappointing especially knowing that the meat is locally sourced and based on the description it sounds like it probably is really really good. I would highly recommend just leaving the small amount of organ meat out and still having a really good burger. Again that's just the opinion of one person. I know this was really long and people often tend to focus on the negatives, but I really think some minor changes might help you guys out a lot. I know you've only been around for like a month so hopefully this stuff can be helpful to you feel free to accept or reject any of my recommendations. I've wanted to eat here for a while and finally decided to get some take out the other day. I've been eyeing the eggplant sandwich and it did not disappoint! As I devoured it, I was thinking "man, if you were vegetarian and wanted the same satisfaction you get from a nicely-made and balanced BLT, this would satisfy you..." The eggplant is crunchy and flavorful and the rest of the bun is filled with crisp iceberg, tomatoes and sauce. The fries were good and the wonton appetizers (I added crab) were incredible! I can't wait to try the Killa Dilla!! Also, I was in and out because it was a takeout order, but the place was really cute and hip and right on the main drag. This is a great place where you can find healthy and tasty food. We eat whole food plant-based which means no animal products and only real foods - i.e. - no impossible burgers or ultra-processed foods like chips - and we had multiple options from which to choose. We chose the Killa Bowl with teriyaki tofu and thought it was delicious. It took less than 10 minutes for our food to be prepared. The owner is very friendly and I noticed that he washed his hands before preparing our food - so conscientious of hygiene. We highly recommend stopping in and trying it for yourself. read more
