Bald-Faced Lies (Just Another Used Car Dealer) I wasted half of a day visiting Mass Auto World to see a car which had been completely misrepresented by a salesman there. Car sounded great and looked great on paper but turned out to be a beat-up rust bucket. The salesman told me before I visited that the car had no rust, when it actually had serious rust damage including frame rot. It seems that their goal is to manipulate potential customers into visiting even if that involves lying. Apparently they want bodies on the lot because some of them will bite. Of course the cost to the customer of their lies does not matter. Buyer beware. My experience is consistent with what others describe in these reviews (at least the real ones). For details, read on. I am a fan of second generation Honda CR-V's and found an interesting one (2006 Honda CR-V EX (VIN JHLRD77806C041450)) at Mass Auto World via Carfax: https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/JHLRD77806C041450 I called and spoke with a salesman who identified himself as Nick. He gained my trust by stating that he was a fellow veteran. I told Nick that I was over an hour away so needed to make sure it was a good car before I made the trip to look at it. I asked if the car had any damage other than minor scratches and dings (which would be expected on a 15-year old car). He said that it did not. I asked if the car had any rust. He said it had NO rust on the body. I specifically asked about rust underneath, and he specifically said there was NO rust. I told Nick that based on his description, I should see the car. Again, he knew I would be coming from over an hour away. After a 90 minute trip through some awful Boston traffic, I arrived at Mass Auto World. And I immediately realized that Nick had badly misrepresented the car. First, the hood of the car was deformed in a way that looked like it had been pushed in from the front and had buckled. The front of the hood on the left sat high, and the rear sat low. Recall that Nick told me there was no body damage other than minor scratches and dings. But that was trivial compared to what I found next. Continuing my walk-around, I realized that Nick had blatantly lied to me about rust on the car. First I saw that the right rear door had rust bubbling under the paint, indicating rot underneath. Then I looked under the rear of the car (see the first attached image). The rear subframe, stabilizer bar, and lower arms were badly rusted, if not rotted. The second image shows frame rot under the front of the car. And the third image shows the rotted right pinch seam (top) and a rotted unibody rail. The pinch seam was so rotted that it literally disintegrated between two of my fingers. This is particularly troubling because it indicates that soon it will be unsafe to jack up the car as specified by Honda, and soon the car will not be able to pass inspection due to loss of structural integrity (I've been there). Nick was happy to let me drive over an hour to Mass Auto World based on lies. Interestingly, he did not come out to talk with me when I arrived. He knew exactly when I would be there because I called just before I left to make sure the car was still available. And one of his coworkers walked right past me in the lot when I was the only customer there. I think that once they saw me looking under the car, they knew very well that speaking with me would not have been pleasant or profitable. I had to rearrange my entire day to make this visit happen. Even worse, it wasted over 4 hours of my time. So now comes the obligatory "We're so sorry you had a negative experience...we're trying to improve our processes...Here's a Dunkin gift car to cover your gas." I'm not interested. Instead, I would like to know from the owner: Do you employ a "reputation management" company which provides fake online reviews? Do you encourage your employees or anyone else to post fake reviews? If I could give 0 stars I would. If you want to feel respected, treated with courtesy, dealt with fairly and Honestly, if you value at all your own time and peace of mind, do not do business with this company. Stay as far away from them as possible. They have the worst customer service in the history of the world. Borderline criminal practices. I echo other reviewers saying they felt treated "less than" and receiving minimal almost one word replies to inquiries, or no reply at all! They sold me a car withholding it was missing a part that caused it to immediately fail inspection, then they stalled for the duration of the warranty to do the quick fix, then 30 days after the easy fix the car majorly failed in relation to that part and they kept the car for 5 weeks. The Lemon Law didn't work b/c technically the problem happened 1 day after the 90 day warranty period, but had they not deliberately delayed for the initial 60 days, the failure would have been within warranty period. And then they lied under oath during arbitration. There are no words to describe how base their people skills and values are. One cannot fathom a company in this transparent day and age operating so conspicuously poorly and staying in business! Do yourself a favor, go next door to McLaughlin Cheverolet, they are really nice people!! Or literally shop anywhere but w this company. read more

I didn't buy a car --- I sold one. We quickly arrived at a fair price. I then saw it listed on their web site. I sold them a mechanically perfect car with some minor exterior flaws that they repaired. Considering what they paid me for it, plus knowing the cosmetic work they would have done to bring it up to like new, I can say their pricing is very fair. I would gladly work with them again either to sell to them or buy from them. (Note: On posting this, I noticed Yelp automatically put my location as San Francisco. I don't know why. In all fairness to this dealership, I will say after pulling some wisdom teeth and bringing others into the situation, I got a full rebate for the car that in my estimation was a lemon. At 74 years old I was told to never step on their property again. I had owned my own business but please beware. The words will flow like honey out of their mouths until something goes wrong. Then you have a very verbally abusive owner come at you with guns blazing ( just a term). On the last exchange with them, I had to meet "the runner" at my own bank. I had recently moved to this area and was in need of a car. Visited a couple places and looked a lot online prior to finding this place. They had a lot of cars that seemed to be all serviced and cleaned. They knew their product very well and more importantly for me they were very professional with handling everything, which I needed as Im not familiar with the process here. I was able to select a car, get insurance and drive away(I took an uber there) all in one morning. Very impressed with the service and the car has been great thus far. read more

UPDATE: Since posting the review I have received a refund, with interest. There was no arguing and it's better late than never, so I do want to give credit where it's due. I'm leaving the original review up so people can see the full context of the situation. I feel that's only fair. Really didn't want to have to write this review, but apparently this is how you get their attention. I came in and test drove a Nissan Versa. At the time I liked it and decided to put a $200 deposit on the vehicle so I could get it inspected by a mechanic before buying it. Following that, I did a little more research and decided I didn't want a Nissan because of their notoriously faulty CV transmissions. Literally the same day I sent Wes an email letting him know and asked for a refund on my deposit, which he agreed to give me. So far so good. But I wait and wait two and a half weeks, and no refund appears on my bank statement; no check in the mail, nothing. I politely bring it to their attention and Wes claims to have already made the refund, so I reconfirm with my bank that I haven't received the money. I tell him this and receive no response, and that was over a week ago. Much as I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, the damage is done and I can say without a doubt that I would never recommend anyone buy a car here. read more

They're about an hour's drive from my home in Brookline and worth the drive. I bought an 05' Rav 4 at Mass Auto World a couple of weeks ago after months of looking at one rust bucket after another. They seem to pride themselves on selling quality vehicles at reasonable prices and offered an extended 90 day warranty. They made the transaction so easy and convenient for both of us, and got her in a great reliable car for a really great price. Terrible. Bought a jeep about two months ago. We hear a noise coming from the car when you turn the wheel. They check it out, give us a sticker and say nothing is wrong. We bring it to Hiller and they tell us its been in an accident and needs over $2000 worth of work. We bring it back to Mass Auto and they say they see nothing wrong and hear no noise. Cars battery was dead when I went to pick it up and the traction control system is messed up. even though they told me they are going to have it fixed by the time I went there to pick it up(over a week and a half prior), was waiting around for over an hour to get the battery in. I have had the car for 2 days now and the check engine light is already on, I got it scanned and the cats are clogged apparently, bunch of other stuff on the car doesn't work, I've emailed twice and tried called, no response. This car is one of the worse ones I've ever had and I spend 11k on it. They don't have one mechanic working at this whole place they used a huge ass impact gun to take the battery off and took 4 people this place is a joke and looks like they hire people off the street. Will be taking legal action if they don't respond to my emails within this next week. You guys are scum bags and all suck and your jobs! read more

After doing very extensive search for a good used car, but new to me, and going to dozens of dealers and looking online, Wesley at Mass Auto World was by far the best place! The deals on the cars and prices were better than the ones sold by individuals on craigslist by far! Not only that, but when you walk in to meet with Wesley, you are not meeting with a dealer, you feel truly at home and like you're talking to your cousin. I was upfront with him for what I was looking for, I thought he would laugh at my price request but he was very professional and found something that could not be beat by others. He also gave me a much better extensive warranty on the car, even though it was used, than anyone else. Save your miles from driving around chasing people on craigslist or going all the way to NH. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! The sales person was abusive and rude. I asked to see the engine on a car I was interested in. He belittled me, speaking down to me as though I was a fool. He asked me if I questioned that the engine was under the hood. Said I should look at the tires and interior and not waste my time on the engine. Very sexist and abusive attitude. After finding the OWNER of Mass Auto World, my direct question to the OWNER was, " I want to inquire about purchasing a car and I do not want to deal with this sales rep. Can I speak to you?" He immediately said "No". Did not question why I was not comfortable with the Sales Rep. Was not concerned in the LEAST that there may have been an issue with how a customer was being treated. Las year, my fiance and i were in the market for a new car for myself, after spending endless hours researching vehicles, we found the exact car I wanted in our price range at Mass Auto World, after driving up there from the cape late afternoon and test driving it, we were able to sign paperwork and get it ready to bring home the next day! Now here we are a year later, after an accident totaled our other vehicle, Mass Auto World has once again had the exact vehicle we are looking for in our price range! I purchased a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. It has high mileage so I was a little hesitant. I brought the car to 3 different mechanics and they all were impressed with the overall condition of the vehicle. A minor issue was discovered and Wesley ( without hesitation) told me to bring it back and they would fix the issue (seized caliper). I did a ton of research and did numerous comparisons with other dealers and vehicles. The price was VERY fair and they provided a detailed carfax history report. Hey Wes and Mike! Here's your $60 worth! I attempted to buy a car from these two jamokes. The first one they showed me, a 2002 Nissan Sentra which was posted online, as soon as I opened the door it REEKED of mold. Looked in the trunk and saw the spare donut sitting in a puddle almost completely submerged. They should have taken the time to dry out this drowned car. I test drove a green 2002 Honda Civic. On the test drive I let the wheel go and the car pulled really badly to the right. I said give it a front end alignment and I'll drive it again. I left a $500 deposit. When I returned the car still pulled left. When Mike backed it into a spot I noticed a LOT of new parts in the right front wheel well. AND a bent wheel rim. Clearly serious front end damage. I decided to pass on the Civic. Mike and Wes were pissed! They refused to give me a full refund of my $500 deposit. Instead they have me $440 and charged me for a front end alignment on a car I DID NOT BUY!!! So, here ya go guys! Your $60 review!! If you had been true professionals you would have given me a full refund. Run from these guys! They sell trash cars bought at auction! read more
