After talking it over with our group, we all had very different massages that focused on our individual aches, tensions and injuries. I had the good fortune of getting a much-needed deep tissue massage with Megan during my recent ski trip to Park City; in fact, me and my nephew Chris were booked for back-to-back sessions (and yet another nephew had his appointment--albeit with a different therapist--at Alpenglow the day before and raved about it as well). I'd initially booked a 60-minute session, but then opted for a 75-minute one with the hot rocks/CBD combo (this later became 90 minutes at my request, as Megan had some flexibility schedule-wise before Chris' appointment). It'd been a while since I'd last had a massage anywhere, so Megan had her work cut out for her, but it was nothing she couldn't handle. She worked out a lot of knots, some that I didn't even realize I had, and I'm glad to have added the extra time. I only get to snowboard 2 - 3 times per year, so after a four day stint of hard snowboarding I was tight, tired and totally needed a pro rub-down. Since we were visiting Park City, we did not have a car. I called a few places seeking a mobile masseuse. While nursing my soreness by knocking back a pint at the Corner Store bar, I decided to head to my handy Apple answer machine. Within 30 seconds I came across Alpenglow Mobile Massage. Good on her for including "mobile" in her business name. Found them right away! Carolyn was very straight-forward and provided me her availability and details. I was able to work it out and schedule via text, which was handy. The rate was reasonable. It was more than I pay for massages in Phoenix, but less than your average resort spa. Plus, she came to our condo. She brought her own music (which as massage-appropriate), a hot towel system (which ruled) and was on-time. She was actually early so that she could set up for 10 minutes. She was also willing to double-dip and massage a couple of us over a span of a couple hours. I was very impressed to learn she'd stay until 10pm to make this happen! That's incredible, especially for those tourists that spend all day on the mountain, then the pub, dinner, hot tub, shower. It makes sense that 9pm would be a desirable time for a mobile massage, and she fully understands and accommodates that. She set up her table right in the living room so I could watch the March Madness games while being worked on. Small talk at the beginning, but then the chit-chat ceased, which is a perfect balance for me during a massage. I highly recommend Carolyn and Alpenglow. Carolyn knows what she's doing. She knew EXACTLY how to find where to work, and worked into it smoothly and comfortably. Some therapists can find knots and start attacking them like a wild animal. Carolyn knew how to work an entire muscle group in an effective way that released my tension like I've never experienced! I have a lot of posture issues and extremely tight and sore muscles. She is a lot stronger than most female therapists I've had, but doesn't use brute force, she really has a magic, healing touch! I had a fantastic massage with Jourdan Bluth while at Park City. I'm from Los Angeles and have had many massages before, but she definitely stood out as someone who is really knowledgeable about the body. Her massage is not your run of the mill relaxing massage but serious body work. I have a frozen shoulder and serious issues elsewhere and she was very good at ascertaining what was needed. She even wrote down for me the names of the various muscles which still required work when I returned. When I met with a chiropractor after returning, it was confirmed that work on those areas were needed even though one would never suspect it was related to my shoulder area. Carolyn is a miracle worker. I am so glad I found this woman. She has been with me for two years, and through two pregnancies. She recently gave me a wonderful prenatal massage, and helped my pubis symphysis more than anything else I have tried yet. After an hour with her, I felt amazing.
