I feel bad writing this review because the massage therapist was very nice, but 90 min head to toe massage was unbearingly painful. When I checked in, I specifically asked for a Swedish massage with medium pressure (like I always do, but maybe that's where I went wrong here). I get massages quarterly and have never in my life ever had a massage that was so rough. I was wincing in pain most of the massage and the massage therapist just kept digging into the same spots over and over. It didn't feel like a "massage" and more like someone digging their elbows into my knots repeatedly for 90 minutes. The 90 min combo massage was supposed to include 20 minutes of the "tech buster" (shoulder, arm, hand), which I was looking the most forward to, but my arms/hands were almost completely skipped over. When I said something afterwards, the girls at the front desk said it was because I didn't specifically ask for that area to be focused... I didnt know I had to ask for that because it was literally written in the description and why I booked that specific service. I drove all the way up from South San Diego because my friend recommended this place for the price but I left feeling worse than I did walking in. It's the next day and my lower back is so sore it hurts to even lay down. I wish I wouldn't have even done it, I was hoping for relaxing experience but it was anything but that. Everything was clean and comfortable, the bed was heated. I asked for a firm massage and i got more than i anticipated. definitely had to hold my breathe a few moments to try and not cry out in pain.. but it was kind of a good ouch.. definitely not relaxing.. a therapeutic fix me by breaking me experience. Definitely questioning what massage school or training this woman received.. i think her objective was to shred me to threads with her elbow. all in all a no frills chinese massage .. clean overall but genuinely no frills. no fancy oils offered.. no talking.. same classical music on repeat and somewhat thin walls. she shmooshed and squashed me and elbowed the shit out of every fiber in my body. key thing: fixed the shoulder .. but now i'm sore throughout but in kind of a masochistic feels good through the pain kind of way. We had no bites or symptoms before the massage, so it's clear the issue occurred during my visit. Had an absolutely amazing massage. Clearly the therapists have a LOT of years of experience. I've tried several therapists here and each has their own unique specialty but I am happy with the therapist I work with. Today is my birthday, and I decided to treat myself to a massage. I've never been here before and thought I would give it a whirl. Check-in was super fast and then I was brought to a room and instructed to get on the table and then the massage technician came in. The massage itself was really good. The technician barely spoke a word to me, but she got all of the spots that I would have hoped she would have gotten. The only bummer was they are doing construction next-door and I don't know if this is the case for all of the rooms but the room that I was in it literally sounded like they were hammering and drilling in the wall during the entire Massage. Unfortunately not very relaxing. My body feels good but sadly it wasn't the full relaxation I was hoping for. Hopefully the construction was only today or very temporary. UPDATE: I very kindly just heard from the manager, and they let me know that they are actively working on the construction issue and they now have an agreement that the construction will only happen in the morning and they will have clients in a different expanded area of the Massage clinic in the mornings so it won't be a problem.
