There is no pain you are receding A distant ship smoke on the horizon You are only coming through in waves  Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd  I make a right turn when I see Double Happiness.  Then a left into the parking lot.  Lots of spaces during the apocalypse.  Walk inside the main building and make a right past the bridal shop.  At the end of the hallway is Siri Thai Massage Clinic.  I meet with Sophia for 90 minutes of deep tissue and Thai massage.  Knots are kneaded.  Muscles stretched.  Pressure points are released.  In the end there is no pain and I walk downstairs to order takeout from Double Happiness.  Waiting for my order I relax and see the ocean in the distance. Pulled what I thought was my lower back and booked a session online- easy booking system! To my surprise Janni treated me in a hour n half session and solved for the pain by finding a knot in my scapula/shoulder. She was most thorough, walked me thru each movement and asked how much I could handle in strength. She is traditionally trained and her hand and core strength was astounding. I opted for the Thai massage with walking over you- know she was careful to always keep the sheet over your back and methodical. Not sloppy as some other nearby places. On the day of the appointment, my partner and I arrived and we filled out a form to indicate where we would like specific attention etc. While we were doing this, we were offered hot tea! Had an appointment with Siri for a massage to help my TMJ pain. It was wonderful! I had pain for 2 weeks prior to this massage. Until the pain was gone, I didn't realize the stress it had taken on my body. The massage was absolutely wonderful. I still have TMJ, but the symptoms are much less (seeing another provider who has so far been useless and using a device from CVS to stop me from clenching my teeth at night.) I didn't give 5 stars because the massage studio is not the most serene or the most private. Siri is a delight however, and she does what she can with the place - nice music, herbal tea, aromatherapy. The business could definitely benefit from a better space. I will probably go back. I recently had a massage here due to neck stiffness and it was absolutely fantastic. I originally wanted to booked the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, but they were closed - so glad I found this place instead. I have been searching for a go to massage place for a while, but have been having difficulty in the San Diego area. The big chains like Happy Head, Massage Envy, etc. are very disappointing. I've been to the Grand Del Mar spa several times and although it is fancy and the bells and whistles are there, I just could not convince myself to love it. The masseuses there do not seem to be professionally trained, and although it does feel like a pampering, it is not therapeutic at all. My massage was with Sophia and I really noticed a difference in her skill level compared to other masseuses (and I've tried many). It was clear she is trained in what she does and there is technique and purpose in all her movements and pressure points - not random kneading, elbowing, or running their hands over your back (which does nothing for me). She also used a lemongrass scent that was so refreshing and completely alleviated my neck stiffness. I left feeling very rejuvenated and relaxed. The business is also located next to a very nice stretch of beach. The massage combined with the walk along the beach eliminated any stress I had that day. beware, you are not allowed to return for a second massage unless you have given the owner or her staff a tip. I just received an email from the owner, after booking an online massage, stating that I was not allowed to return because the last time that I was there I did not leave a tip. She did not take into account that I had paid her business $700 within the last month for multiple massages each time leaving additional tips. Nor did she take into account that a tip is supposed to be voluntary, and that last time I did not want to pay extra money with a tip because my massage had been cut short and also the masseuse did not do as good of a job, less pressure, etc. Each time after you leave from a massage here, the owner will ask you over and over for a tip.
