Day after massage review: therapist name Leah OMGAWD!!!!! I was in so much pain and had knots aplenty especially a after a stressful two weeks of caring for my elderly mama in the ICU and let me just say, Leah, bless your hands and your expertise! I am feeling that delicious after "exceptional" massage sore in all the right areas where I informed her. I was in so much pain prior to coming here! today I am tender in those areas but the burning pain before the massage is gone! strained muscles and ligaments are feeling really good! As for those commenting on English speaking or not, please stop being racist, you're not going there to have a Tête-à-tête with your masseuse, you're going to get healed and that's their only responsibility to you as a client. To the owners, your masseuses are professional, soft spoken and definitely asked throughout the session whether pressure was good or if I need more. Been here twice and had great massages. Made an appointment online for me and my wife the day before. They have a variety of options, but I usually go for the Deep Tissue massage to get out the knots from exercising. Had Jessie this round. Asked to focus on the lower back. She knows her stuff and that back pain is mostly from glutes and legs. Man, probably the best massage I've had to relieve all that stress in my lower back. Pressure was awesome...and I like it painful. Her communication was great as she occasionally asked if the pressure was okay. Loved that she wiped off the oil afterwards. This seems to be the norm, as they did the same thing to my wife. If you pay cash, you get a little discount. And they have change if you need to break larger bills. We will definitely continue coming here. Their massage therapists seem pretty consistent in terms of technique and pressure. It was my first time & I highly value massage. I gave it a 3 because of the following: 1. it would've helped if my female masses spoke or understood even just a little English. That non-English barrier made my requests for changing massage pressures & spending a little more time on specific spots made it MUCH more difficult. 2 I also felt nails digging into my skin, & as an experienced person in massage, this is a major turn-off. Not my favorite first experience yet I would consider it once more if I can find a different masseur with enhanced skills. They charged me $75 for a missed appointment for a $68 massage. I don't recall consenting to them saving my credit card information. It's also illegal to charge full price for a service that wasn't provided. I had one of the BEST Massages that I have ever had, tonight w/ Amber! It was a 90 min Swedish CBD oil massage. I came in w/ a mild headache and neck pain on the left side that ran all the way down into the outside of my hip. I asked Amber to spend some extra time on those areas. As she took her time working on those areas, I slowly began to feel the muscles release and my body relax. I left feeling so much better and will definitely ask for Amber when I go back next month:) I love this place. I normally go once a month for a 90 min massage but I had not been since September. Tonight was such a great way to end 2023 and a reminder of how important it is for my body to receive a massage once a month. read more

I love seeing Jenny. She has such a great touch, she's really sweet, she makes sure to check on her pressure and asks you before she massages your head or your face. I did the 60 minute special I can't remember what they call it but after massaging your feet she does a foot scrub and then puts paraffin bags on your feet while she massages your head and your shoulders. I love the fact that she listens to what's going on with each person's body and accommodates. They offer cash discounts as well as venmo discounts which is a nice option or you can book online and pay with a credit card. I also love Maggie. My fiancee and I had truly subpar massage experience at Massage concepts. The woman at the front desk was very nice and helpful and had us fill out cards for focus areas. However, the massage therapists seemingly didn't read the cards and didn't seem to speak English (red flag) when I tried to point them to problem areas. Additionally, I had requested moderate/high pressure, they only used minimal pressure but still left abrasions on the skin, likely due to a combo of technique and lack of proper oil. I left feeling both tight and sore, rather than relaxed and restored. read more

I have gone to many massages where it felt like an hour of expensive "petting" and I left feeling no more refreshed than when I came. That was not the case here. I booked a couples massage and it was one of the best massages I've ever received. The pressure was firm and strong- I'm horrible with names but I believe my masseuse was Gwen- used her forearms and elbows and found every knot and worked it until they released. I had a massage at the Solana Beach location. I had someone new (May, very nice) because my usual person (Jasmine) was out on vacation. I signed up for a 55 minute SWEDISH massage with 5 minutes of scalp massage or 5 minutes of foot massage. When asked, I said that I wanted medium pressure. I was not asked my preference on the head or feet. May started with a nice scalp massage for about a minute and then started on my back... BUT her pressure was way too hard for the rest of the massage even on my arms. I ONLY WEIGH 124 LBS-NOT NECESSARY. I had to ask 3 times for lighter pressure, and when I asked for my lower back to be rubbed, the pressure was deep tissue and after a minute I let her know that she had done enough lower back and I didn't want to be sore later. Also I wanted her to have enough time to finish. She just kept going after 3 times of saying it was enough. Then time ran out so she had to rush through the rest. My feet were not touched. After the massage I immediately felt nauseous and had to cancel my day and go home to lay down and slept for 2 hours. I woke up next day sore and with a bruise on my lower back. My feedback is this: if someone comes in for a SWEDISH massage, that's what you give them. A Swedish massage is supposed to be relaxing, NOT painful. My back was not sore yesterday, but it is today because of the deep tissue work which I did not want. Please take my feedback as constructive and be mindful and listen to what the client wants and does not want. Even though the price at MC has gone up, it's still a good value and I will return but I will ask for light pressure going forward and see if that makes a difference. read more

I need to high five Tiffany Haddish as I've had a Groupon streak lately. I had no idea Massage Concepts was here in this plaza (Del Mar Highlands). They're located on the , difficult to see, second floor by Mendocino and Philz. I'm grateful Groupon was offering a smoking deal here for a 60 min massage. I'm not an advocate of Groupon as they seem to profit more than they should from businesses. Plus, customers tend to be one and done after the first visit so it must be tough for the business owners. That being said, I left buying a 6 pack deal from Massage Concepts as I enjoyed the massage and studio. Maggie was the front desk girl. She was super nice on the phone and got me a last min appointment. NOTE: you need to wait 24h from the time you get that Groupon deal to use the voucher. She asked if I'd be ok with a therapist with less English or more English ability. I told her I spoke Mandarin so either is fine with me as long as the girl is strong. The studio was bright and inviting. Maggie was so welcoming. There were a handful of clients finishing and paying so I could tell this place does well. I also read about their cannabis massage oil which you can upgrade for $15 (for an hour massage). Maggie said the oils are pricey for them to purchase so the $15 was a great deal to try it out. I've never used this type of oil so was looking forward to seeing if it had any type of immediate benefits during the session. The individual rooms were clean, comfortable, and private. My therapist was great. I admit speaking Mandarin was helpful but her English was well enough. She was very strong and very well versed with her deep tissue techniques. So how was the 420 oil - you know you're wondering. Well, it was ok. Not sure it was worth the $15 upgrade. It was a nice oil but it felt mostly menthol-y (which was great regardless). I'm not a cannabis user but believe in it's healing benefits. I left the oil on for a few hours but personally didn't feel a difference. Friend had it for a massage here and said he loved it. Paying was quick and easy. Maggie is awesome. The 6 pack deal is pretty good - the prices per session turn out to be as affordable as my thai massages I purchase at another studio. Yes, you have to pay all 6 upfront but it's still unbeatable especially for this zip code. I look forward to trying out other massage therapists and introducing this place to friends.
