Wow I didn't read any reviews before I came here. My bf has lived in Downey for years and has always come to this location. First, people have to remember we are still in covid times. You are required to be referred by doctors to get a massage still. I write referred by my chiropractor each time. Second, sounds like most of the complaints are because the massage envy website allowed them to book an appointment and that this Yelp page didn't update their info during covid. I have never experienced a problem. Except trying to book my angel healer Beatrix for a massage because she is booked for the next two months but she has magic hands so I'm really not surprised by that. My first time here I booked by picking up the phone and asking if they were open yet. That was in January. They had not opened but planned to open by the weekend I wanted my massage (in February). They explained on the phone how I need to be referred by a dr by the time of my appointment. That I would be temperature checked upon arrival. Masks must be worn the whole time and they are not massaging hands or faces. Facial services are currently unavailable at this site, due to covid. I loved the first girl but I need a deep tissue massage so I just happened to book with Beatrix and now I can't see anyone else. She's amazing. In any case, remember that this is still a pandemic and you should ALWAYS call the place before you book or go, to see what rules they are required to follow. This is the location nearest to me and the one I usually go to. I love that I can book my appointment for a massage, facial or chemical peel using the app!! The best part is that I can see the different times available and who is the therapist that would be doing my massage or facial. I also like that the app keeps track of who I've seen and which sessions I've had because, yes, I forget sometimes! Also it's always a good idea to do the check in on Yelp to get a free enhancement. Shawn was great, although his nails were a bit longer and scratched at times. I spoke with Maggie in the morning to start my membership, and she made it quick and easy. I added hand and foot exfoliation to my appointment. Maggie told me her shift ends before I arrive, but I would be taken care of by Alexis, and she would be sure my appointment would go smoothly. Shawn did a fantastic job, but I had to ask when my extra services would begin. He stepped out to ask the front desk, which interrupted my relaxation. At the end, I mentioned this to Alexis, and she promptly said she would speak to Shawn about this. I corrected her, and I said Shawn was fine, the front desk is supposed to communicate to him, or Maggie should have noted it. Alexis snapped back about how this info was on Shawn's iPad, that the mistake was on his end, that he's still pretty new here... blah blah blah.. I don't care. From my perspective (a customer paying upwards of $150 for this one appointment), it's the whole business, and I expect at least an apology of some sort, not immature finger pointing. It's $15 each for those add one, and they were less than 30 seconds and rushed because of a break in the communication chain ON THE BUSINESS' END. I haven't had a massage in over 2 years, and this was supposed to be a special treat for myself. That interaction with Alexis spoiled it. I am seriously thinking of requesting a refund for those add-ons, but I am most definitely going to speak with someone more professional. read more

This downey location is by far the worst location to be a member of. The staff members are beyond rude and disrespectful, most of the best masseuse's have left this location due to the lack of professionalism. There's a "store manager" Christine whom should have never been granted that position, she is by far the most rudest individual, the owner of this location should be appalled for allowing her to manage this store, she needs to learn how to treat customers with utmost respect. I've been a member at this location for over 5 years now, although I'm a member at this location I refuse to schedule any massages/faciasl here. I usually schedule at other locations, where staff is appreciative of their customers. Walking into this location in downey and having to see Christine's face and negative attitude, completely ruins the mood and experience of a massage. She's stressful to enage with and even look at. Most people want to attend a massage location where one is satisfied and relaxed, trust me you won't have that experience at this location. If I had the option to give this location a zero star, trust me, they would get a zero! Also it appears that there's a huge turnaround rate with the ladies that help schedule appointments, hmmm, I wonder why? If management is treating their customers this way, I could only imagine how they treat their employees. DO NOT PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP AT THIS LOCATION. Massage therapist Kim is the ONLY reason i kept my membership with M.E. I come from the Cypress area and have been looking for a good therapist since mine quit after Covid hit. Kim not only applies the pressure i require, but shes attentive to the bodys needs and problem areas. I have been having sciatica pain and tightness in my lower back that was hindering my ability to move freely. I had made an appointment with a massage therapist and unfortunately they were sick so my appointment was cancelled. Luckily Joshua was available, although I hadn't gone to him before I'm glad he was available. I explained the pain in my lower back just as I've done with other therapists before. The results with Joshua were 100% better. He was able to release the tightness in my glutes and lower back. I was able to notice the difference immediately. My ability to move around freely went from 50% to 90%. He understood my concern and knew exactly how to help me feel better. My first visit with him was in early October and I just left my second session feeling the same satisfaction as my first visit. read more

The first massage I received was the best, unfortunately I didn't get the young man's name. He did such a good job getting the knots out of my back and neck that I decided to get a one year membership. Well, the next few times I've been there under me membership I received the worst massage from other people. The membership is a joke. $85 a month for one "credit", but it only covers certain services and you still pay the difference. The last two times I've been there the massages have been horrible, absolutely no pressure applied even if you requested a deep massage. Seems like staff just wants to get you in and out. Holiday season is here so I have been under a tremendous amount of stress. Getting a full body massage with Esmee was exactly what I needed recharge. She was incredibly professional, reminded me that adjustments to massage pressure could be made at any time. The room was dimly lit, soothing music Was playing at a nice gentle level. Soft enough to take a nap but loud enough to be able to hear it. There seemed to Be a warm heating pad on the table, so once I got into the sheets to Wait for my massage I noticed they were not cold. It was a very nice feeling. Esmee offered a breast pillow, and I accepted. I have not had many massages before so I don't know how often breast pillows are offered but let me tell you it was very nice. My weight was not pushing down on my chest and it was very comfortable. I appreciate that Esmee was wearing a mask, I felt that she was keeping me safe during peak flu season. The room appeared to be very clean and there are signs informing clients of their sanitation process. The front desk staff was also very kind. I arrived to my appt With my 8 year old and it is absolutely not allowed. Thinking about it, Why would anyone want to bring their child to the spa? Either way I did not have childcare and figured my child could sit in a corner With headphones and a movie on a cell phone. I was informed that due to liability issues, minors are not allowed. I was sad that as a result I would be losing my appt and would have to be responsible for paying for a service I was not going to receive. The massage cancellation policies are very clear and give ample time to make Arrangements. Had I known children are not allowed, I would have rescheduled or made arrangements for Childcare beforehand. I appreciate the front desk staff, especially Sarah. She was understanding and did not make me feel dumb for not knowing Spa Etiquette or remembering what information was on the paperwork signed four weeks ago. I have an invisible disability so verbal instructions are not my strength and I don't recall all of the information that was give to me four weeks ago. Again I have been under a tremendous amount of stress and was looking forward to this. Having to pay and not receive a service was beyond frustrating. Sarah offered to speak to management and we were able to come to an agreement. I was able come back after arranging child care. I recommend coming to this location for massage services. I look forward to trying out their facial, and stretching services as well as signing up for the membership. You end up saving money on services you will really enjoy. read more

I had another amazing facial with Itzel. She is amazing! Really nice, really gentle and very thorough. I've had two other facials with other estheticians and they were ok but I would have to say Itzel is hands down my go to. She actually does a FULL facial and takes her time to thoroughly go through each step. I actually feel asleep it was so soothing. They canceled on me yet again. At the last minute. I received their customary curtesy call yesterday morning to confirm my appointment for today. They left a message since I was unable to answer. I followed up on the call yesterday afternoon to confirm. It was all for not. Got a call again this morning to inform me of the cancellation and that there were no other appointments available until later in the day. These appointments are scheduled weeks ahead of time so most people can't just reschedule last minute. And what good is a "free enhancement " for my next visit if they will just end up canceling on me. I gave them a second and third chance. No more. Avoid this place. read more
