La Quinta Location. My experience working here raised serious concerns about management and overall workplace practices. I strongly recommend that employees document all communication and interactions. Whenever possible, keep communication in writing (email or text or in front of cameras) and maintain professionalism at all times. There were ongoing issues with management, including inconsistent application of company policies and a lack of clear understanding regarding procedures and California labor laws. This created a stressful and uncomfortable work environment. There is a noticeable pattern of high turnover, which reflects the challenges within the workplace. The pay did not outweigh the overall work environment. Jessie was a bright spot and consistently demonstrated professionalism and a strong work ethic. Jessie deserves a significant pay raise and serious consideration for promotion. Employees should be aware of their rights and ensure they are informed about workplace protections. Stay away from this place these people are unbelievably unprofessional and rude. They do not know how to conduct a business as professionals. They will lie to you and be rude yell at you for asking a questions they don't want to answer. That was just completely crazy. I received a gift card from my family for services to this spa, so I thought I'd tryout it out with high hopes. 1st- it was very difficult to schedule an appointment, as little options were available. I booked a month out. 2nd- I added a foot scrub to my 60 minute massage. Little did I know a 25 minute foot scrub would be coming out of the 60 minute massage. So many complaints about this - massage felt incomplete. If an add-on is an option it should NOT take for the original service (it should be additional). PROS + Best masseuses I've ever had in the last 3 years: Gavin and Marina. + Front desk Sharon has been phenomenal since I first started with them. CONS + Facial is overpriced and not worth to pay for. I didn't feel or notice a difference with my skin after they use Obagi skin products. I still had clogged pores after the facial. + Last massage experience was terrible. Unfortunately , the manager called me to followup after a negative survey where I inquired why there was no posting or explanation of the current Covid-19 safety precautions . Manager was too assertive and did not listen from a returning customer that would just like to know primarily what is their current policy. I will not go to their location any longer . I called another location, front desk explained it calmly and clearly and I am good with the explanation . I will go to the Palm Springs location from now on. Unbelievable. I've not been allowed to have a massage because I am a nurse actively working in a hospital. Despite having taken all proper isolation precautions to not expose myself or my family. Despite having never tested positive. Despite the only caregivers I'm surrounded by who HAVE tested positive have contracted covid from within the community, not while at work. If ever there was a time to need a massage it is now. It is just really disappointing how foolish this policy is. Who do they think is NOT exposed to covid? What profession is truly isolated from it? There are none, it is in the community, and the best we can do is to follow distancing guidelines and wash our hands, cover our faces, etc. Does this mean grocery store workers can't get a treatment either!? I protect myself head to toe every day, you have a flimsy cloth mask on, if anything I AM THE ONE PUTTING MYSELF AT RISK by taking a leap of faith that your business is following guidelines. As misguided and under-informed as Massage Envy clearly is perhaps I should be thankful. This tells me the company isn't interested in ACTUALLY protecting themselves or their customers, but that they just want to look good on paper and start making some money again. I have been trying to utilize my membership for months now with no availability. I have spent over $1000 with this company and no service to speak of except a facial that wasn't even very good. They are booked for four months out. If I don't get any service soon I will cancel and be out over $1000 and nothing to show for it. Don't get hooked in to buying a membership! BUYER BEWARE!!! I go to this location regularly for foot reflexology. Before making an appointment with someone new, I always ask if they are experienced in foot massage and specifically reflexology massage. In the past, I would say 80% of those who say they know reflexology do have some of this technique down, some better than others. However, I made a recent appointment and was told the therapist I would have had experience in foot reflexology. When I discussed my needs with the therapist, he indicated he did as well. There is a huge difference between a foot rub and a foot massage....and even more when you need/want reflexology. I left feeling at best I had a poor foot rub that one of my grandkids could have done. When asked how the treatment was, I mentioned to the desk staff that they should take reflexology off of my therapists list of skills, the person just smiled, said nothing. I told him it was nothing more than a foot rub my husband could have done and said that it was really sad to waste the time and appointment credit feeling like my husband could have done better. He says, "Sorry, nothing I can do about it". I was not asking for a credit or more time, but do feel that others who may want a decent foot massage should not be scheduled with the therapist I had, especially having asked about his qualifications. It would also have been nice to have had some genuine interest shown in a customer who has been a client there for more than 5 years. They could really care less. read more

This review is not necessarily specific to the La Quinta massage envy as it applies to Palm Desert as well. I have been very disappointed with massage envy in this desert as they sell way more memberships than they can possibly support with appointments. So the credits just build and build. And I can't get a massage when I need one or even within the next couple weeks. So I finally had enough and I cancelled my membership ss soon as my year was up. I was given 60 days to use all of these credits I accumulated because there were no appointments. But there werent enough appointments to use these credits during the 60 days. So I thought I would solve the problem by gifting one of them. Nope. Once you've cancelled you can no longer gift your credits. So I had to eat two credits. I will never set foot in a massage envy again. It is a flawed business model. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of zero is that the massage therapists are OK. read more

I have three memberships here, one for me and two for my daughters. I am frustrated that despite the fact that the facilities are appropriately closed for CoVid, I am still being charged for membership. I have made three phone calls (left messages), contacted them on Facebook (only received a bot which said to contact them via phone again!), and there is no email listed. Very frustrating. A responsible business would have contacted its members to tell them they are having to close and then automatically froze our membership. This is what my two gym memberships did. I will of course, dispute the unfair charges with my credit card company, but I would have liked to handle this directly with the facility without having to go public. I was a member and decided to cancel my membership right before pandemic and had 1 massage credit left. They said I had 60 days to use it. I decided to call yesterday to check on my credit and to make sure they will still honor it. The staff on the he phone said no sorry I lost it. What???? Really???? We are still in a pandemic and your telling me you won't honor my 1 hour massage that's been paid for? How is this fair? I have to be especially careful since I take care of my senior mom. She just now got her 1st vaccine. I would not feel comfortable going to a massage until I have had my vaccine. I asked the lady on the phone to speak to the manager and she said that it won't make a difference she will also tell you no!!! I was appalled and asked her to give her my info anyways and have expected a call and haven't received a call yet. I was a member for many years. I was disappointed with the price increase but ultimately cancelled because of the loss of therapists. It seemed like I would settle in with someone and they would leave. I tried others but did not have a good experience. Facial services were worse than sitting through a timeshare talk with the pressure to purchase Murad products. The front desk staff was not very friendly. When I did cancel I got a shrug and "don't let the door hit you in the a--" It's too bad, I really miss my monthly massage. read more

THIS IS A GUIDE FROM A PREVIOUS EMPLOYEE: Not all therapists massage the same, you just need to find the one that's right for you. Ask questions about a potential therapist, ex: How well do they work with deep pressure? What is their request rate? How long have they been working here? **It doesn't matter how long someone has been a therapist, if they're good, they're good. There is a certain trait of a good therapist that you can not teach. I worked at this location for almost a year and I have a lot of pros and some cons. First of all, ladies and gentlemen, tip your therapist! Be kind to them and appreciative; this is a hard line of work (usually doing 5 to 6 massages a day), especially if you like your pressure rather firm. We love what we do but we love happy, friendly clients even more! With that being said, this location is very focused on massage customization, proper draping procedure and cleanliness. While this specific location does not offer warm towels in every room (varies by location), each massage table is equipped with electric table warmer and sheep skin; it makes the bed so comfy and soft. Now for the rants of a previous employee. Therapists can be over-worked! If you come in at the end of the day and the lobby is even half full, chances are it was a busy day for your therapist and you might not get the same quality massage as someone who came in the morning or mid-day. For all you hard-knockers who like to be beat to death (like me), ask your therapist when they feel most comfortable doing deep work, or if it is your first appointment with a new therapist, try booking your appointment if the middle of their shift; they will be warmed up but not worn out. Trust me, working with your schedule AND your therapist's schedule will result in a higher quality massage and a better relationship. **A little side note- The reason the therapists do so many massages in a day is because of the high demand. This isn't a problem for us, but this lowers the commission rate so they really do rely on tips, just like servers. While your first massage is a really good price, afterwards you will be met with a proposal for membership. I have heard some can be pretty persistent, so if you know you can't afford it or you won't use it...don't get it! On the other hand, if you are even slightly considering a membership, listen to the associate, ask questions, know your perks! Massage and facials on a regular basis will turn you into a new person. You will be happier, healthier and more clear-minded. I didn't realize all the amazing body, mind and soul benefits of massage. Even if you don't join, GET MORE MASSAGES. This place is a joke-NEVER again will I make an attempt for a massage there. After waiting for 30 minutes and taking their questionnaire with the front desk person I was sent to the "quiet room". When my therapist finally came in she asked me a couple questions and left. She came back in and told me because I had consumed one glass of wine PRIOR to my session, for MY safety she couldn't massage me and to reschedule my 90 minute massage for a different day. I don't know what kind of policies they embrace there but I won't go back. I have been to high end spas that SERVE alcohol (champagne) with the massage. We've been wanting to try massage envy for quite sometime so we did while on the road....it was late and we were exhausted from driving all day. 1st. the 60min. massage only lasted 39min. They started 9min after the set appt. and finished 12min early. 2nd. The masseuse for my husband was extremely lazy! Not only that she kept playing with her cell phone, she also remained seated the whole time. We didn't pay to get a one hand massage. 3rd. We got 2 obese trolls!! No offense to the overweight people out there but let's be honest, nobody wants to get rubbed by 2 hippos who look like ogres. This place is over priced with bad service! The service and staff are polite, professional, and courteous which in this day and age isn't always the case. I absolutely love going to this clinic. From the moment you go in the staff at the front desk are amazing. They always remember your name and are so attentive to all your needs (Lexie and Chelsea are the best!) I've tried many massage therapists and estheticians, they are all so professional and knowledgeable. The massage therapist have all been great. I signed up for the membership I wasn't aware it was an annual commitment. Remember how gym memberships used to have you locked in and it was almost impossible to cancel without all these crazy stipulations? That's what it feels like with this membership. It's a nightmare. You can only gift one therapy to someone once every six months? Why should this even matter if the service is paid for? On top of that you have to pay a $10 transfer fee. So they're making their money and yet they have rules that make zero sense. I am very unhappy with all these stipulations and the staff talking over me when I'm trying to gather the logic behind this. Avoid their sales pitch for annual membership.
