I am a retired 79-year-old woman who has been coming here for massages for over 2 years. I used to have someone come to my home for the same purpose for years. Absolutely love it here. Attention is paid to your personal needs based on initial input you provide via a form on a tablet. Each visit that is checked, and you are asked if there are any areas of concern. There are many different therapists, each with their own technique, ranging from soft tissue and gentle stretching to deep tissue and beyond. After 10+ years with the same massage therapist, my therapist left the business and I was left to find a new one! A tall order since she was great! I asked around the Rehoboth Lewes area and Massage Envy was recommended. I decided to give them a try. On my first few visits, the area where you check in and check out was heavily fragranced using oil diffusers. As a hugely fragrance sensitive person, this really put me off right away. I remember complaining about it but I don't remember to whom. Anyway, that is no longer in issue, at least not when I arrive. Thank goodness! My first few visits were with Christine AKA Tina. She gives a nice massage and is very talkative or at least was with me. On the day of my third monthly visit, Christine was out sick so I ended up with Emily. There could not be a bigger difference between the two massage therapists! Tina was closer to my age (66) and very chatty whereas Emily is very young and super quiet--clearly an introvert. The massage I received during my first visit with Emily was so exceptional that I it was highly motivated to switch to Emily permanently. Emily is a tiny young woman, but she has amazing power in her hands. You just tell her what level of pressure you're comfortable with, and she complies. She is very good at a heavy pressure massage but can adapt to a less powerful massage if requested. Massage Envy has a membership plan I guess you'd call it that was a little scary to me when it was first proffered. However, the manager of this location did an excellent job at answering all of my questions and I decided to sign up. It probably wouldn't be worth it if you don't get massages regularly, but my body requires regular massages so I did go ahead and sign up. It's been long enough since I signed up that I don't think I can do justice to explaining the plan, but basically it's that if you sign up for the plan you get 60 Minutes a month for $65, which is an outstanding price for an hour massage. I believe the regular price for a 60-minute massage there is somewhere around $80 or $85. Finally, I've come to really appreciate the front desk staff. When I walk in the door, they address me by my first name and they are ready to check me in very quickly and efficiently so that I can go hang out in what I like to call "The Inner Sanctum" which is the very Zen waiting room where your massage therapist comes to meet you. The front desk staff also calls with a reminder of my appointment every month on the day before. They are always cheerful, friendly and speak to me like family. Brava, Massage Envy! My experience (9/9/2021) was far less than what I expected. First, there was loud music playing that was of top 40 genre. I asked the therapist to turn it down or off. She said that was not their normal music. Second, I was in a shared room with divider "accordion" type door to separate the customers. I could plainly hear the other therapist and customer talking. Often the therapist was saying "that really sucks". I never felt completely rested during that time. Third, my therapist was just not that good. I tipped her what I would normally tip a masseuse, but honestly I would never use that person again. All in all, it was an extremely disappointing experience. In the fall I attempted to make an appointment online. I assumed I was successful, since I received an email confirmation. When I arrived for my appointment, they had no history of it. In fact, the girl who I had booked never even had availability at the time I requested. Again odd, since I had an email confirmation. Apparently when I declined to add my credit card online, it didn't save my appointment. The girl at the desk was neither helpful nor rude, she was very point blank about the whole thing. Lesson learned, and I walked out without rebooking an appointment. I decided to make another attempt, and instead inquire on the website for a membership. It has been 4 days since my request for more information, and I haven't gotten anything. I wish I could give a review of their services, but their customer service and website has barred me from even booking an appointment. When we first joined we were happy with the service. After a few months, we had three appointments cancelled by massage envy the day before. We cancelled our membership and the never submitted so it continued to bill. We called and they explained it was their error. We had two services "in the books" saved for our use. Went to use them. I scheduled a facial, at checkout the receptionist informed me that my "services had expired"! Nobody EVER told us that. So, had to pay the full price. Will not go back and will certainly NOT recommend to anyone read more

I've had a few massages by Tim. However, after the 6th or 7th one I noticed a change in his demeanor. He was becoming to comfortable with and using foul language during me session. So, I switched to a different masseur. Once my session ended I decided to cancel my membership. The lady at the counter informed me that my credit card would not be charged and more unless I called or came in to sign back up for another month agreements. WORST MASSAGE EVER. We arrived 10 minutes early to complete any paper work for a 10:30am massage. We were taken back at 10:33, and the massage didn't start until 10:45. At 11:22, they said, "Ok that completes your massage...that's 37 minutes...We paid for a one hour massage (supposed to include FIFTY minutes of hands on.) Derrick was my masseuse, and he was the worst I have ever had. He basically rubbed oil (like he was putting on sunblock.) He never asked how the pressure was, so I politely asked him to use more pressure--2X, still NO CHANGE. At that point, I felt weird asking AGAIN. I even had in my profile, and I asked at the beginning to have stronger pressure. Not deep tissue, but not super light. So after 37 minutes he said , "ok the massage is over, and left..." Outside the room he finally asked if all was well and I told him that I was not pleased and he said, "ok then have another masseuse next time." At the front desk, they took 15 minutes to try to figure out how to use the credit card machine. When their "credit " part didn't work the girls announces, "oh this card is declined!" When in fact they were using the machine incorrectly and needed to put it through as "debit." Which worked fine. Unfortunately, when I called to speak to the manager about the disappointing massage, they only offered me another appointment at "member" rates. They said MULTIPLE times, "oh you are not a member, sooooo....blah blah blah." implying that because I am not a member I should get a crappy massage, and ONLY 37 OF 50 minutes???? I am not pushy or rude, I simply wanted what was paid for---they are a service industry. AND, I had to call 4 times, I was either not called back, or was told the manager is busy.... I was only asking to have another massage, for the normal time, and done properly. GO TO AVENUE INN , or Ocean Retreat Day Spa or BodyMind in Rehoboth Beach, or anywhere else. SOOO MUCH BETTER. This Massage Envy is HORRIBLE. They took advantage of me (a disabled senior) during this pandemic. They agreed to cancel my membership over the phone because of Covid--now months later they've been taking money out f my acct. and tell me I LIED about them helping me cancel over the phone. They back-tracked and now say original contract stands--I must get massages or lose my money. They care NOT if people are scared or high risk. They are only about the continued flow of money-- led by manager Holly. They are not about working with us during a plague. They have lost every employee I've used--and I hope they lose significant business as a direct result of their callousness. Go somewhere else. ANYWHERE else. read more

This was my first time to this establishment. The girls out front never left the masseuse know that we were there--so we were taken 10 minutes late. BUT NO WORRIES-- my masseuse, Derrick, gave me a massage for one hour & it was fabulous! He was the best--I would highly recommend him! And I will be back! read more

I had a message with JT that was wonderful. I can't say enough great things about the message. That said, the person who took the reservation was not on top of things. She screwed up every detail. JT and the lady giving my wife her message quickly resolved the mistakes and turned a bad situation into a great one. We would definitively go back. read more
