I'm so glad to have found Katarina - the facial queen! I've been coming to her for 5 months and every time she is very kind, caring, and informative. I've had a Custom facial, Brightening Facial, Oxygenating Treatment, and most recently a Microderm infusion. Each one has been incredible. Her skill and demeanor permeate in everything she does. Each time she gets to know my skin more and more, and advises appropriately for which treatment to consider next time. This upcoming visit I'll by trying the Nourishing Light Treatment. Have been to several massage envy locations and this one is top tier. The masseuses are excellent -- so far I've had hector, Richard, and Fillipe. All are 10/10. Highly knowledgeable, communicative, and use firm pressure to get those stubborn knots out. Katarina is an amazing facialist and I have only positive things to say about my experience with her. She doesn't recommend things that may be too abrasive or damaging to the skin and is thoroughly communicative about what she thinks is best for the skin. Hector is amazing and always applies the right amount of pressure to address all of my issues. He gets the kinks out and puts you into full zen mode. He is very responsive to the need to apply pressure in different modes for different areas. My favorite massage therapist at this location because it is rare to find a therapist that listens to your body and provides a massage dedicated to exactly what you want and need! You can definitely tell that Hector is experienced and takes pride in his work. I've always passed by this place and have always been curious to try their services. Having some free time I decided to finally treat myself. Their website had different services to choose from varying from massages to facials. Booking the appointment was pretty easy online. I was able to book a same day appointment - as a last minute decision. Services - I was able to book a customizable facial with Amy and she was great! As a first timer I was skeptical on who I would get as an esthetician because you just never know what to expect. During the facial she made sure I was comfortable with each product put on my face. I loved that she was very gentle on me and wasn't rough on my skin. Additionally, she made sure to attend to areas of concerns I had and explained what would be best for my skin. I definitely fell asleep as she massage my face and went above and beyond to make me feel cozy as possible during the process. Prices - the prices here can be a little pricey but as a first timer you get a discount. Afterwards they recommended you get their membership to pay a lower price each visit as well as get perks each month. Or if you don't wish to get the membership you'll keep paying the non membership prices which can be a little higher. Overall, my service with Amy was excellent! Worth every penny! I visited Massage Envy for the first time in several years to help find some pain relief for my neck, shoulders and back due to strain from exercise. Alberto V. was my massage therapist and was incredible! Very attentive and intentional based on the pain and muscle groups I explained at the start of the session, modified pressure as needed and overall very knowledgeable and professional. The next day I woke up completely pain free--it really blew me away. Such a relief. Massage Envy has quiet, clean, and cozy rooms and a comfortable waiting area. Front desk folks were nice. The waiting area was big and chill with water and teas. The 1-star is only due to my very poor experience for a massage a month ago after having another massage at a different location and made absolutely sure that I wasn't crazy for feeling so underwhelmed by my masseuse. Thus, I feel compelled to forewarn in case you have masseuse Marc :/ It was a most disappointing massage I've ever had. I came out so confused as to what happened because I already had filled out form saying that I wanted to focus on back and shoulders during full body massage. Marc asked at the beginning and I said the same thing after he asked me if I wanted a full body massage but with just focus on those areas and I said Yes. The first half hour was me laying on my back while he barely applied any pressure to my back (despite me saying FIRM), and he just turned my head left and right and that just did nothing for my back. There he left his hands under my back over many times and barely massaged anything. Later while faced down there were so many confusing moments like when he just ran a finger down my back like he was drawing something but without any massage or firm pressure at all. I have never had such a wasted hour. Then I looked at rhe clock when we finished and it was 8:19! My appointment started at 7:30 for a full hour and we clearly didn't even finish the 50 minutes of true massage because we had already started 7:40p after "consult". This was so unsatisfactory of a massage and funny thing is, I told my friend in Pasadena about my experience, and she said she had the same exact experience with this masseuse a while back already and had told the manager, yet seems like nothing changed after my friend had made the complaint because his technique did not get better. Now, if you had told me, 'sorry, Marc was super tired at 7:30p and it's end of shift' and he'd do a subpar job, then it would have been grounds for me tolerating it had I at least have had the opportunity to request a refund or a comp one, but after submitting this via the feedback method, I got no response. Front desk and facility is great. This review is for the masseuse Martha only. My appointment was at 10. I arrived at 9:45, and waited in the quiet area until 10:03 until I was called. Martha allowed me to undress and left me in the room for another 4 minutes and the massage started at 10:07. The massage itself was fine. A lot of elbow, forearm and repetitive movements, but the pressure was alright. She did not massage my upper thighs, upper arms, face, and scalp at all. I requested focus on my lower back and shoulders, but if I paid for a full body massage (and gave consent for those areas), I expect a full body massage. At the end, there was oil all over my shoulders and I was given a warm towel. I guess I was expected to wipe myself down? But I've had many massages elsewhere and I've never had to do that. When the massage ended, it was 10:57. With the massage starting late, and me paying for a full hour, I thought it would end by 11:07. I was gypped a whole 10 minutes. Attached is the a picture of the clock when it ended (mind you, I had to wait for her to leave, wipe the oil from my hands, and pull out my phone which took a min. Also, they need to fix their clocks). I remember being stressed with the massage starting late too because I had another appointment to attend right after at 11:30. Overall, it was an un-relaxing experience. I haven't had a massage in a long time and was looking forward to my appointment for a couple weeks. But I'm thoroughly disappointed and won't be recommending Massage Envy to anyone. I'm better off paying for the $25 Chinese massages in San Gabriel or Monterey Park. read more

Unless you have unlimited availability to schedule your massages, DO NOT PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP!!!! I have had a membership for years at the South Pasadena location and I used to be able to schedule same-day massages. That is no longer something that can be done regularly. I have called every day for over a week trying to schedule a same-day appointment and there is never availability. If you're booked every day and don't have any availability, why not hire more therapists? Tons of empty rooms in the building. I have multiple credits that I can't use because I can't get into a massage. I'm not currently able to schedule ahead of time because I don't know my schedule until the day of. I realize this isn't a problem for everyone but come on now, the most irritating part is that I contacted them today after multiple request for a same-day massage with no availability and the woman that answered the phone told me, there's other massage envy. Katarina's facials are out of this world and the ultimate relaxation. Felipe gives a therapeutic massage that helps restore movement and has helped me get past injury several times. I had been wanting a facial for so long! There is a handful of places around where I live that offer facial treatments but Massage Envy pulled me in. I love that they offer a variety of options at one location. They offer a variety of facials, massages To be honest, this was my very first facial ever and I had no idea what to expect. The lobby was spacious and super clean, very welcoming. I checked in with the staff who gave me an ipad to fill in a form (took about 10-15min). I was then guided to the waiting room which was so big, with beautiful natural light, very relaxing. There was some lemon infused water available as well as some mints. I noticed there that they had a sign there that if you check in on Yelp, you will receive a free enhancement which I checked in and showed the front guest so it could be added to my facial. My esthetician was on time, guided me to a clean, warm and very quiet room. They had some relaxing music playing and a clean heated table waiting for me and my facial. I am giving this 4 stars related to the facility. I had a massage last week, Diana did amazing She was attentive to my needs. I recently started strength training and have been sore, the massage gave me the care I needed, she gets 5 stars. When I walked in for the massage the sun was right on the receptionist staff faces, did not look comfortable. I appreciate the facility being customer focus and providing a relaxing space. For me it's equally important that staff is comfortable and treated with care. Possibly a sun shade or blinds, something to shield the sun for reception area employees. read more

They have water and hot tea for the customer to drink while waiting. My masseuse was named Martha G. and she was great! She made me feel very comfortable. I told her my preferences and she did exactly what I asked for. After I finished, I didn't feel rushed to change back into my clothes. They make the checking out process extremely easy too as they can just charge the credit card that you have on file and they ask if you want to add gratuity. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience. I will be booking another massage soon with Martha G. and I will probably book a facial as well. P.S. Make sure you tip your masseuses well! As I am writing this, I wish I were near my usual massage places because I'm in need of making an appointment somewhere soon, lol. I liked the SP Massage Envy location. My opinion might be biased because it was super close to my apartment / on my typical routes since I'd usually take / exit the 110 from Fair Oaks. - Parking: free street or spots in the back and between the buildings - you'll see signs that specify the spots are for ME guests - Never thought it was super busy the times I had appointments which was nice. (tended to book late night sessions as it had fit best with my schedule) - Waiting room is one of the nicest I've seen / been in. They keep it clean and stocked with ice cold water, fresh fruit, and magazines to flip through with plenty of areas to pick a seat as you wait for your name to be called. I've usually been there alone, but at most have waited with one other person (but not for long). - Rooms and table were always clean and made presentable-- dimly lit and calm relaxing music would play. I like how the table beds have a heating option - good to have during chillier times and it just all around puts your body more at ease. I also found their face pillows to be the most comfortable out of others I've tried. - Staff was always professional. We would go over any spots that needed extra attention prior to getting started and after the session I always received a cup of ice cold water and tips on what I could do at home or at work to help with aches or pains - specifically for the neck. Would recommend for anyone who is within the general location to give them a try. There could also be deals at time of sign up that you should look into. I came in because I had some shoulder pains. I saw Marcus. He really pushed me to some limits and even had me almost doing Lamaze type breathing from the stretches he was doing to me. BUT omg I had immediate relief once I left. I wanted to wait to see how I felt because you never know right away. But I've been to several massage places and just recently tried a wellness center. I think Marcus really hit what I needed. I believe if I kept coming he could probably help me a lot with my shoulder pain. It's just too bad this isn't something I could afford to come to very often. I really hesitated for a few days and waited to write this honest review. I just wanted to be fair and not be hasty after 1 massage here. I would say my rating is ONLY for my massage therapist and not the facility. First of all, I love massage envy's and the easiness of booking in any city, in any state. The receptionists were great here and the south pasadena location is actually the biggest one I've ever seen and has a very welcoming/relaxing waiting room. There is free parking, you just have to enter from the back. Now I've had many massages over the years at MEs and wouldnt say I really had one I hated... I just had favorites. But on Monday, my neck and jaw were killing me that I could barely move my neck left and right. So luckily the south pas location had Appts available for Marcus (who does deep tissue). Now in my experience, anyone who can do firm- deep pressure , well they can easily lower the pressure to what the client needs and wants in specific area since everyone's body is different. Well apparently Marcus can't. I asked him to lower his pressure a few times and he said "I'll try." So I tried to tolerate it as long as I could and I was made feeling uncomfortable to even ask again. The last time I asked him was when he was hurting and area in my back that I said was already really sore. He made a chuckle and said "oh it's not just you, everyone gets like that here." Well I was telling him this so he could lower his pressure and he didn't ask me if it was better? Now that I think about it, every time I asked him to lower the pressure or would tense up when he was going too hard, he NEVER asked me if I was feeling better. After that and not lowering the pressure I basically toughed out rest of the 30 mins and counted down the time until it was finished.. (a first for me) - the lights remained bright the whole time and I thought I was giving him benefit of the doubt but now I'm thinking I was just too nice.. The next day I went to the massage envy on south lake just to be able to get a therapeutic and relaxing massage. I also booked someone who can do firm pressure and she was able to easily decrease her pressure in areas I was sensitive. What a night and day experience!! After thinking about the service compared to what I had with Marcus... well it frustrates me and I just want to do my fellow yelpers justice. I would definitely try the south pasadena location again if I needed a quick massage. But just NOT Marcus. Try him if you need a super heavy pressure thats unaccommodating-- would not recommend for women who likes firm pressure bc I normally do,-/ I definitely got left a bruise on my back.
