Massage therapist Lynn is exceptional. I have been getting massages for decades and she is a real healer. I can't say enough about Lynn and I wouldn't even be posting this if she wasn't so good because I wouldn't come back to this location but she's there so I'm torn and I have to post this review and hopefully they'll let me back. As I'm finding with most Massage Envy locations, there are very many excellent massage therapists. Unfortunately, at the same time, the public facing people at the counter don't get customer service and most of them don't care and I guess it's just a job not a career. And, as a business person I understand the business model and the need to continually get new clients, but massage Envy goes overboard so much it's so obvious and to me so obnoxious. People light up when they have a chance to sell a new customer I guess because they get commissioned but you know the existing customers are customers too and deserve customer service. There is often a no can do attitude and indifference. The reason I'm writing this is I had a wonderful wonderful incredible massage from Lynn and I was so relaxed and I got so much energy afterwards and then I went out to the lobby and the one woman who was working behind the desk was on the phone I couldn't help hearing she's going through the different plans trying to sell the benefits to a prospective customer which is great if you have someone else there waiting on people but there's no one else there. She went through these options and more options with this woman and then this is already 15 minutes after I finish my appointment and I want to leave I need to go drink some water I need to get some breakfast I need to do other things massages important to me but it takes a lot of time to drive and get massage and the last thing I want to do is wait around to pay. This location I don't think has my credit card on file and I had told her it to the beginning when I got here when she wasn't busy and she said I will take care of it when you leave well it's now 9:50 50 minutes after my session and it is still not taking care of. At 20 minutes after my massage was over and I was in the lobby I heard her then finish up with the one woman and then she said okay now let's go over and she said a name I think it was like a plan for your husband or maybe your husband and your son whatever I overheard that's when I thought okay I'm being a nice guy too long maybe she thinks I have a card on fall but regardless there's no way to leave a tip online I wish you could do everything online and not have to deal with people who don't care. I spent all this money I got a great massage and now I'm completely aggravated and I'm wasting 15 minutes letting you know what goes on when you're not there which most owners need to know or should know if they care and if you're not there you don't know and most appreciate being told so I'm doing that I hope you are appreciate it and I hope you don't block me from coming there I would love to see Lynn again but I don't have to deal with shitty disrespectful rude service so I apologetically interrupted her quietly holding up my credit card after I put it on the counter 10 minutes earlier and she completely ignored it and completely ignored me. She could have said excuse me can I put you on hold for a second and at least tell me oh I'm sorry I'm the only one here today and and I'm talking with a new customer do you mind if I finish up instead she was like when I asked her can you take my credit card or can I tell you what to tip is I want to tip in you can't do it online. And then she says to me oh just wait I'm finishing up soon so then I waited another 10 minutes inside it's now 9:25 after my 8:00 massage so I motion to her and said I'll be back I went out and did some stuff at my car I came back in she's still on the phone she's still didn't look up at me. So then I drove away and I figured she would call when she got off the phone so I can leave a tip because whenever I call there I'm just going to get a voicemail and I'm not going to leave my credit card number on a voicemail. So now Lynn's going to get out of her next appointment and see that I left without paying and then tipper so I'm probably not coming back. Dear owner because I don't want to talk to that woman and I want to talk to you call me and I'll give you my credit card number and I'll tell you what the tip should be. And if you don't call I'll report you to the better Business bureau I'll report you to the Arizona massage therapy because I see you've had complaints from your businesses of of sexual assault this is is this the type of business you're just going to let run on its own unbelievable. I'm hating doing this because I know I'm not going to get to see Lynn again because of you and she has been the best healer I've ever had so that's why I'm really pissed and I want to spread this around until you clean up your act what happened I don't even think she knew I left read more

I'm a regular at this location.. I usually just come in for the 90 min deep tissue massage with Selvina who is awesome. Today I enjoyed a facial with Elizabeth .. she is very sweet and knowledgeable .. has a great touch and asked how I was doing, how the temperature and touch felt.. she told me what she was doing along the way. Location was a little tricky to find the first time, but this place is great. The staff is always friendly. The facility is always clean, which is definitely a must. I always schedule with Ashley. I like a medium to firm massage and she does it perfectly each time. She's very friendly and will make sure I'm comfortable throughout the entire massage. She also has tips and will have information on articles she's read about muscles, workplace desks, etc. Which is great and I love hearing about them. read more

The massages I received at this location were good. My review is based on customer service, or the lack thereof. I moved out of state and stopped by this location in August 2022, to cancel, in case I needed to sign anything. Two ladies there, both said "No, you can actually do that online". Great, came home, processed cancelation, or so I thought. Corporate says it's forwarded on to the branch, which is owned by a franchisee. Here we are in January 2023, I've tried REPEATEDLY to get this account canceled. I spoke to Angela in December who tells me there's a form to sign and e-mails it to me. I haven't signed it yet b/c it says on the document that I understand I'm not due a refund of any payments made. The heck I'm not!! I reached back out to Corporate- oh the branch has to process any refunds. The branch says, oh, Corporate has to process any refunds. I'm out $349.95 and their due to charge me again any day now. This is ridiculous and theft. BBB complaint has been filed. read more

I was a member there for almost 7 years. I had a hard time using up my monthly massages so I cancelled the membership. When I canceled, it took about 60 days and many calls and emails to get the cancellation to go through. once we finally got through all the telephone calls and emails and got that taken care of I had 60 days to use up all the hard-earned money I had with them. Seems a little unfair that you have 60 days to use that up. I gave away as many as possible and at 60 days had to let some expire. I hope it was worth their reputation and an unhappy customer. read more

I have been going here for almost a year now and am practically never disappointed. All the masseuses I've had have been extremely professional and used great massage technique to provide me with a wonderful massage experience (Regina and Mandy, to name a couple). There was only one instance with someone else where I felt like that the pressure was not enough (even after I voiced my concern), but it has never happened again. Each time you come in for a massage you discuss your current concerns and level of pressure desired, and I feel like they have hit the mark nearly every time. In regards to their skin care, I am extremely thankful for Elizabeth, their esthetician. I have had a facial, back facial, chemical peel, and microdermabrasion, all with Elizabeth and have never been disappointed. She always takes the time to ask about and listen to my top skin concerns and caters my experience to my skin care needs. She is polite and warm hearted, and I completely trust her and enjoy being in her care. I called yesterday to book my partner and I a massage at 10am, they told us to arrive 15 mins before hand, right before we were about to leave my partner receives a call from Andrea saying Katie is sick and would she like to reschedule, my partner told her she had to talk with me first since I was the one who booked. I said that wouldn't make sense for me to get a massage and not you since when we both had an appointment. So I called the store.. no answer. I called again.. no answer. I told my partner to call from her phone.. no answer. So I call one more time on my phone and I finally get answered. I asked Andrea if there was anyone else that could do her massage she said no unfortunately not I said okay no problem you can go ahead and cancel both appointments. That was the end of the conversation. I receive a call back from Andrea stating that there would be a 50% charge to my card because of the cancellation.. WHEN SHE NEVER DISCLOSED THIS INFORMATION TO ME EVER!! Not yesterday when I booked. Nothing!! Very extremely unprofessional and frustrating, let alone the customer service is unbelievable. Well not a bad place at all, but not a great place either. Everyone seems to be a little stressed out here. I am talking about the employees. I do not think that massage is for me , I always seem to end up with a headache afterwards. Massage Envy pushes you to join their program. I understand that and I know that is the way they have to do it. They are there for repeat bizzz. The girls that work the front desk are very nice. But, as I said they all seem a little upset or under too much pressure. It makes you wonder why. But, the place is clean, as well as the restrooms. I used to have a Massage Envy membership. I travel a lot for my work so I was happy that I could use my membership in many other cities I went to. I experienced in other cities, Facials, Stone therapy , and Aroma therapy. However, I went to the one in Phoenix, and I really was never that happy with them. Not the Masseurs, but the way the store itself was run. So fast forward about a year. My body needs some major help. I decided I would get a massage. You know that nothing ever feels better for your health. So I made an appt. and I was lucky enough to be seen the same day. The place is decorated very soothingly. It smells nice as well. Like spa products. Which always makes me feel calm. The girls working the front desk are very helpful and not pushy at all. I love it when they are not pushy, it makes me more interested in any thing. Anyway I decided to get a membership again. Guess what! Buying the membership meant my massage that day was complimentary. I thought that was divine. My Massage was wonderful, I I really needed it. I suffer from Migraines so relaxing my body and getting rid of toxins helps very much. I am truly looking forward to healing my body, and they even do facials here as well. Using all Murad products which is a great brand. I have not had the facials at this location yet. But, I have had them at other places and always enjoyed them. They always provide you with nice cool fresh water, which you should always drink a lot of to rid your body of the toxins. read more

The rigamarole of the contract and all the sales is such a turn off. The member price is steep too and one year us a bit of a commitment right now with the uncertainty of the new president. The people here are 5-star, the facilities are 2-star. My massage therapist is just the best. She is so professional and kind, and that knowledge and compassion are conveyed by her touch. She doesn't do the same thing every time, and because I try to come as often as possible, I appreciate the switch-up. Every person in reception is really friendly. I left my phone there before, and they held it for me until I could get there. My only criticism is with the facility. At first I tried to ignore these things because the massage is great. It seriously can't be beat, especially when you factor in the price. However, the therapy rooms smell bad (musty carpet), the sheets are scratchy, and the tables are not comfortable at all. The lotion they use is also a little suspect. I'm not crazy about the way it feels or smells. There are no extras or perks, and that's fine. I appreciate that a business model like this exists: a place where people can get regular, affordable massages and facials. Best facial in the valley! I've recently started seeing Elizabeth, one of the best aestheticians I've ever met. I love the way she applies the product and massages your hands, arms, and shoulders while the product is absorbed into your skin. She offers great advice on products, how to apply, and when. I've learned so much since I started seeing her and my skin shows it! I've been asked by friends and co-workers what I'm doing differently because my skin looks so much better. Location is a little tucked away - hard to see from road. Facility was clean. Front-desk staff were very helpful and friendly. The therapist, Yoshi, was very professional and helped ease my muscle pain. We talked about my needs and she was very knowledgable about recommendations. She was open and easy to communicate with. It was easy for me to relax for my first time there. My only complaint: Right after the massage, the front desk staff wanted to sign me up for a membership. It's not terrible, but I get it - you have a customer there, they feel great, you have quotas, you want to sign them up. The experience was tainted by that. I think it would be better if they weren't so pushing on the membership. It makes me feel like a number. read more

I've been a member for 10 years. Tempe Massage Envy has some of the best massages therapists. I love coming into this location and love getting massages. With that said, I was not able to get in for a massage for 6 months, so I have six prepaid massage sessions. I called to cancel my membership and was told that I'd lose all the paid massages if I did not use them in 30 days. The Manager, David, worked out a solution for me that was outstanding and allowed me not to lose the sessions I paid for. Massage Envy Spa Tempe is a professional A+ business. I have always had excellent service here. The front desk personnel are very friendly and always greet me with a smile, even where there are a lot of people checking in and the phones are ringing. I've been going to this Massage Envy on Elliot Rd in Tempe for 10 years, and I've always had a great experience. The therapists are always good, and they are always receptive to requests. Sometimes I see the same therapist for a while, and then I switch up. Everyone cooperates and has a great attitude. The facility is clean and well maintained. I'm especially impressed with the front desk staff -- they are always polite, knowledgable, and seem to really love what their doing. I called inquiring about booking an appt for a massage but the receptionist told that she needed a card to book the appointment I told her I didn't have my card available at the moment and I would call her back. I got a call the today that I missed my appointment and I was extremely confused. I was told I was going to be charged FULL PRICE for the missed appointment that I did not even know was scheduled. I did not receive any booking confirmation nor any information about being charged for missing an appointment. This is very unprofessional and off putting as a business. For a business that is supposed to be relaxing and stress relieving I got the exact opposite. The woman who called me on the phone was cheery that I had to pay full price for a missed appointment - WOW. I have been here several times for a massage and have always had a great experience. I always book with the app which has always worked great! However, today when I went in I was asked to pay the difference for my 90 minute up front. I've never been asked that before and it should have been a red flag. I wen ahead and did so, as well as tip. But as soon as the therapist had me in a room she started rambling about how she is not that type of therapist and so she will only be doing 60 minutes. I asked if she can do firm instead of deed and she said yes, but only for 60 minutes not 90. What does the time have to do with it??!! I seriously believe she has a racket with the front desk to down grade services once they have been paid for and then split it! Yep, thievery! I was disgusted. I have been a member of Massage Envy since 2009. I go there for a massage twice a month. After being a member for so long, this year I finally got my husband to try a massage there. One massage and now he is hooked and a member! The staff is always pleasant, friendly and they usually greet me by name. Aaron is my favorite masseuse and he always does a fabulous job! I always leave relaxed without the aches I came in with. You can get a massage at all those fancy expensive spas but nothing beats a regular massage routine and a masseuse that know where the knots are in your back! read more

I've been a member at Massage Envy for a little over a year and have recently decided to cancel my membership. This feels like a SCAM. I first visited the location in person one week ago requesting to cancel my membership. I was told that only a manager could cancel memberships and that I should leave my contact information for someone to call me. I left my contact details, waited three days.... and no one called. So I proactively called the location to see if a manager was available to help me cancel my membership. I was told that a manager would be in the next day between the hours of 11:30-2pm. I called the next day at 1:30pm as instructed, and was told that the manager had left at 11am.... The employee I spoke to sent me a form to cancel my membership (that the previous two people I spoke to didn't supply). I sent in the form the same day I received it and was told that a manager would call me to review my cancellation request within the next few days. It has now been three days and I still have not received a call from a manager. And so, I called again today... I was told that a manager would not be available for three days and that I should call again in a few days. My last resort is to call my bank to request a stop payment. Massage Envy has incredibly poor customer service and is only interested in collecting your $$$. Don't sign up! read more

I'm a member who brought a guest and both of us were extremely content after our one hour session at this location :) I confirmed the massages with Zack and Grace the evening before and showed up exactly on time. We filled out the required questionnaire and waited to be called in. It took me by complete surprise to find out Grace was being replaced with Kate, which I wasn't informed of at any part of the process. I didn't hide my disappointment since I wanted my guest to have a very relaxing experience and I read good reviews about Grace. The team lead was apologetic and assured me the issue would be taken care of. My guest and I thoroughly enjoyed our one hour massage sessions with Zack and Kate. They are both very considerate and focus on the clients personal needs and individual problem areas. We both walked out feeling completely relaxed. The team lead, Zack (therapist) and Kate (therapist) all exhibited excellent customer service and ensured that we enjoyed our experience. It's a huge inconvenience when you have an appointment scheduled and they send you a text a day before to reschedule the time they choose without even checking with you first to see if you are available for set times. This has happened a few times now. The staff is friendly but scheduling seems to be a pain. I'm not sure if it's this location only or they all work the same. Another big red flag with this location that did not sit well with me was the receptionist advised me I had a free hour message, schedules me for an 1-1/2 message, says I will only be charged for 30 min and I could use my free hour for the remainder time. Great! I show up to my message... when I go to check out, turns out my free message cannot be used until October! I'm charged the full 1-1/2! This is just bad customer service all around. read more

I had a massage on Friday evening, which was wonderful, and had an issue with my gift card. I was given a $100 gift card for valentines day, which came with a $25 promotional card. I gave the front desk both cards when I arrived and was advised that they would set them aside for me and settle my payment after my massage. After my massage I told them I had the 2 gift cards that I brought in and asked them to add $20 tip for Alex. I was in the post massage fog and never got the remainder gift card balance back. I was just given a receipt for $103. My 90 minute massage was $83 + $20 tip. Now with the $25 promotional card and my $100 gift card I should have a remaining balance of $22. When I got home I fell asleep for.a few hours and woke up to a voicemail from Natalia stating that I forgot my gift card a the store, which had $97 balance on it. I was very confused by this being that I know it should have only been for $22. The next morning, Saturday, I went back up to the same location to see if I could get this all figured out. I gave the receipt that I had received for my original gift card that I had received for a gift to the girl at the counter. It turns out that my $100 gift card was used and another $100 gift card, THAT I HAD PURCHASED AT AN EARLY DATE FOR MY TWIN SISTER, was used to cover the tip! This should have 1) NEVER HAPPENED 2) Should be corrected and reimbursed immediately! I bought that $100 gift card in January for my twin sisters birthday gift, that she hasn't used yet. This card should have never been used! I asked the girl to fix the issue and was advised that the manager will have to look into this and call me later that afternoon. I never received a call. I went back up the the location and spoke with the LEAD and let her know what happened. I brought in the receipt from Friday night to show her that it was for $103 and that I should have a remaining balance of $22 and that my sisters gift card that I had purchased should still have $100 on it. She said that she would reach out to her manager and give me a call later that afternoon. In the meantime, she gave me the gift card that had been set aside for me for $97. I told her that this is all wrong and that I needed it to be corrected. She promised that I would receive a call. I still haven't received a call from anyone on this issue. I reached out to the location today after work, so that is the third day in a row, and was told that the manager isn't in. I, again, told the girl was what going on and she told me that she was new and she would need to leave a note for the manager. I asked her if I could have the number to the corporate office and she told me that she was unsure what that number was because she had just started working there. 1) I think that there should always be a manager or lead around for new employees to go to with their questions and I think its poor management to leave this poor women with no resources. 2) All employees should have the proper numbers and contacts for this type of situation. I would like to have my sisters gift card back to the original $100 so that when she does finally get a chance to use it she doesn't have an issue and I would like to have my remaining $22. I'm trying really hard not to get to upset over this but I'm not going to lie I'm beyond annoyed at this point. read more

I told myself that i would never go to massage envy but i caved and had to get a massage. It's cheap and my massage therapist was great. The front desk is very on top of things. It is a bummer that the massages are 50 min and not 60 and i wish they had a locker room, but that doesn't matter too much. Jenn has done a great job and i purchased a membership only because realistically my problem is not going to get better with one massage. If you don't' know this you are stupid. This business has incompetent people working for them. I canceled my yearly membership. They charged my card 2 additional times. I called up and was placed on hold to find out I was being given a refund for both charges. A week later I had to call again because I did not receive a refund. I was told it wasn't done. They were refunding me 1 of the charges, but the other charge has to be discussed with the manager who apparently doesn't work very often. They are supposed to call me back, but I know I will have to keep perusing it myself!! They need to hire a manager who works regular hours or more competent people. Stay away and go somewhere else, it's just not worth the effort. read more
