Stay away from this entire franchise. Never sign up to be billed per month. You pay per month and get one massage every month. Every other massages discounted in that month. You would think you get to keep the massages you pay for correct? Wrong. I had 11 massages built up. When I changed my credit card and didn't give them the updated billing they canceled my account and took away all those massages. I signed no contract. I was robbed of all those massages I paid for for almost a year. And the massages are hit or miss to say the least. Looking at getting a lawyer. A friend warned me about this before I signed up, I thought she was full of it, wish I would've listened to her. I went to another smaller place and it was heaven. This location is not what it used to be. 3 out 4 of my last massages (I don't go that often) at this locations have been botched. I have tried about 7 masseuses here and I honestly think only 2 take their job serious. One of the masseuses that I like moved to a different location and the other now works hours that I can't make it in. When you pay for a massage you are paying for time.I always sign up for an hour and a half. There are too many masseuses here that are okay with being 5 min late and being done 10 min early. Two dependable masseuse are Scott and Ashely. My wife always uses Scott and I use Ashley on a frequent basis. These two have tried to make our experiences enjoyable. They always do a great job and give you what you pay for. Ashley has saved the day on two occasions for me. I started off using her but I was forced to move around to accommodate my wife scheduled and her long time usage of Scott. I had a decent masseuse that I was seeing regularly but on one random day they switched me without any notification and had my requested masseuse booked with someone else at the same time. Of course my newly arranged masseuse was late that day and my wife was in the back already with my cell phone in her purse. I wasn't okay with the switch and decided I was just going to Uber home since my wife drove and had the keys with her. What I didn't realize is that she also had my cell phone & wallet so I had no way of calling for an Uber or taxi. I decided I would wait an hour and half in the lobby. After about 10 apologies from the front desk, Ashely came out from finishing a session. She took me in a half hour later as an emergency and saved the day. From that point on I made it point only to use her (before she had to make a schedule change), which was one massage later. I was offered a free enhancer for my inconvenience. The enhancement did not make up for the experience but I guess it was something. With the lack of experience masseuses, the lateness, the early completions, and the organizational mishaps that I have had at this location I did not expect to see a pay increase come in the mail. Earlier this week I was notified that there was a $5 increase to my monthly membership payment and a $15 increase to my wife's monthly membership. For the increase in price monthly we were offered another free enhancement each. Now I'm like GTFOH. My wife and I book massages about every month and a half to two months. We look forward to the date when they come. I had been waiting about a month a half when this morning I received 7:30am and notified that my masseuse was not available for my session that night and that they had no replacement. They ask me if I could reschedule. I let them know that that was not possible because my wife was booked with Scott at the same time and he is always booked for at least two weeks out. I received no resolution just kind of a sort of an okay bye. I do believe there are good masseuses here but not many. It's July and ever since this December this place has been a consistent disappointment. After I use up all of my massages (at a different location) I will be looking to switch to another company. read more

I would not be able to make comparisons to other luxury type massage places, as in other reviews, but I can say I dont have any complaints about this location/services received here. I booked a one hour facial yesterday at this location for the first time. I was very fortunate to have Elizabeth! Probably one of the best facials I've had! Elizabeth was not only professional but took time to explain certain products that would enhance my skincare needs. I could tell Elizabeth takes pride in her craft and it shows. Love how the front desk works hard to get you in on at the last minute. After dealing with unbearable shoulder pain for two days, I knew I needed to get in to see Carmela right away. The front desk was able to find an opening, and then call a few minutes later to state that there was an earlier cancellation. One hour with Carmela got rid of the knot and the pain. read more

I have been a Massage Envy member for greater than two years and have visited a multitude of locations in that time. With that being said, tonight I received my best massage to date. My massage therapist Lynn was amazing, she blended pressure with relaxation. I've used a few different therapists over the past few months for a neck injury. None of them could really "handle" it and would refer me to a different person. I accidentally stumbled upon Michael at my last visit and he is a genius. He has a degree in kinesiology and knows the muscles well. Not only did he help my neck but he gave me several helpful stretches. He is very receptive to feedback if the pressure is not right. I highly recommend Michael, especially if you have an injury. I would give Micheal 5 stars and the facility 3 stars. It gets annoying being asked for 'enhancements' at every visit coming and going. read more

After having membership for over three years, I am writing this review to express my frustration at this fake system of " membership". When I enrolled, they told me even if you cancel your membership, you still can use your session. This is totally a lie. During the last some years that I had membership, I made my appointment every other month, by two. I travel a lot and not in town to use it regularly. They canceled my membership and not making any appointment for me for the last three session that I have spied but not used. David Nelson, didn't make any effort to put some qualify employee to take care of the problem. I stayed on line for 30 min with some one name Tammy, whom has no authority to even book any appointment for me, neither could change the financial arrangement for me over the phone. I have been much better about scheduling the following month's appointment before I leave from my massage. It is one of the few things that truly invigorates and relaxes me. It's always very calm and soothing when I walk into the relaxation area before my massage therapist gets me. I was a customer of massage envy for about 8 years. You get a different story every time you talk to someone. I've had to argue about the number of massages left on my account, lost massages, and my rate. I'm done with massage envy and you should be too. There are much better massage options out there. The rooms are very bare bones, the massages mediocre, and usually you can't even hear the music. Spend an extra ten dollars and go somewhere that's relaxing, minus all the arguing with the front desk. read more

Jae, a new therapist at the Chandler location (101 and Chandler Blvd) just moved from my location in Henderson, NV. He was my regular. Jae has great energy, strong, focuses on customer service, listens to your needs, and always helped me to feel 100% better. I always had him do deep tissue on me and always such a wonderful job! Jae consistently worked out the many knots and trigger points. I just noticed I placed the review on the Tempe location; Jae moved to the Chandler location. However, it was the Tempe location where I started my membership. I have always had great massages there too. We've been members since 2007 and have encountered very few therapist changes. The quality and skillfulness of our therapists have been excellent and we've been on a monthly schedule with them. Good quality massage for a fair price, even if the environment was a bit stark and strip-mall like. At the beginning the therapists would add-on a scent or biofreeze if this was a rather needed, but then that changed and therapist were not to offer anything without paying up front. The temperature of the rooms have always been a bit contentious - making hard to control. They then added heating pads due to all the complaints. However, this month we find out our rates will go up $15/month base price - surprisingly coinciding with a just completed remodel. The price now makes it more comparable to any other spas around, which offer a better nurturing environment. The new remodel includes a doubles room. I was in this room for my last massage (alone) because it was the only room available to my therapist. During a 90 minute massage we were loudly disrupted by the change of client at the 30 and 60 minute mark. The room is adjacent to the lobby and door leading to the other rooms. I could also hear mumbling from the lobby over the music through out the session. The so-called quiet waiting room lacks ambiance. The chairs are not sized for comfort or anyone large than a small woman. My husband opts to sit on the banquette across which resembles a 1950 travel trailer bench., and even less comfortable. The lighting is turned up higher than needed, and the acoustics are terrible allowing full access to anything going on in the lobby. The new check-in counter is oppressively big, and the tune of the staff is scripted and corporate. We like the therapists, but perhaps it's time to find a more nurturing place. I have been a Massage Envy member for almost 13 years seeking therapy for issues with my shoulder the entire time. I ask every time to just rub my back and shoulders the whole time:) And pretty often I leave feeling better, but never really walking away pain free in that bad shoulder. BUT NOT TODAY!! I am returning for a massage here but only because it wasn't that bad of a massage and I am desperate to have a massage tonight. The good points: the massage was competent. Bad points: the atmosphere is very commercial, the front desk was super busy when I came in for my appointment and I had to wait a long time to get back for my appointment, and I hate places that pressure you to get a membership... especially post-massage when you are weak and woozy. On Tuesday, January 6th, I had a 50-minute massage with Massage Therapist, Katie Mae. My wonderful husband had purchased a Massage Envy gift card for me as one of my Christmas presents. When I first arrived for my appointment, it was discovered that my massage session was not in their computer. I was told that whoever booked it must not have entered the information in correctly because it didn't show up. Although that was frustrating, the staff handled it beautifully! They were apologetic for the mistake and did everything they could to be accommodating in finding a solution that would work. They rescheduled with me for the same day, but with a different therapist. I must say, I'm actually glad things worked out the way they did because not only was the front desk staff friendly and helpful, Katie Mae is an OUTSTANDING therapist!!! I filled out my paperwork the first time that day I was in at Torre's suggestion so that when I came in later for my massage, I could just walk in and head back for the session. This was a great experience!! Katie Mae's presence and technique were flawless. She consulted with me before the massage and did exactly what I requested. I would recommend Massage Envy at Tempe Marketplace to anyone, most especially Katie Mae for their bodywork. There is a world of difference between someone who "does massage for a job," and someone who truly loves and has a passion for their work. Katie Mae is the latter and it shows. Massage therapists are awesome but front desk is terrible. They called me as I'm driving to my appointment this morning to let me know my therapist wasn't going to make it in today. Sucks but it is what it is. Then they offered me another therapist , just to turn around and say ooops nevermind , I don't have a therapist in that does prenatal massage. I was there last week as well and they were VERY pushy with their membership . The guy tried to sell it to me at least 6 times , after saying repeatedly "but there's no pressure." Not super happy. I have had a few massages from John here. He is an excellent therapist, has years of experience behind him and you can tell. He has really helped the neck discomfort I have as a result of stress. I've been seeing him every week lately for a 90 minute massage. I have a bunch of prepaid massages I used an HSA account to purchase and I'm scrambling to use them. Yes it's true, as I saw from another review, you will lose prepaid massages if you discontinue your membership with Massage Envy.
