HORRIBLE !! The Masseuse felcian had NO technique to her massage! This is suppose to be their best masseuse but she gave me the most mediocre, non relaxing massage i have ever received!!! There was no technique to her massage whatsoever. Just fast rubbing motions and uncomfortable wrestling stretches on my arms and legs that i told her hurt!!! Now my hip joint feels sore and needs attention! I told her multiple times i did not feel relaxed. I tried to guide her through the massage, on what to do and where because i desperately needed a massage and this was my only free time to get one. Of course that wasn't ideal but i figured I'll bring up my concerns with the people at the front desk because i wanted to be compensated for such a horrible experience and i didn't have time to wait for another appointment time. I never complain about things or take it this far but this was the worst experience I've ever had. The front desk was horrible too with handling my concerns! They simply told me oh well, you have to find your match. So i took it a step further and I tried calling the customer service number they have on the wall but every time i call it goes to voice mail. FAKE NUMBER. I called the store back after several attempts to reach the fake number they gave me and the lady i spoke to was SOO RUDE AND NEEDS TRAINING ON HOW TO HANDLE CUSTOMERS CONCERNS! I explained to her my unpleasant experience, but she didn't care. I shared with her that besides my neck & shoulders my legs and feet were an area i wanted attention on but the masseuse barely spent 5 mins there. & that she hurt my hip with the abrupt and unpleasant stretch she did to my leg. I was a member for many years, years ago. I was desperate for a massage and knew I could get a last minute appointment. The staff were friendly, the facility was pleasant and clean. Steve, my masseuse was very friendly and did a good job. I had to tell him a few times to go deeper. All was good, but PRICEY!! I was quoted $125. I knew their massages are only 50 minutes. But I was charged an extra $10 for a deep massage, which I had requested on my intake form. I've never been charged extra before, anywhere. And the entire massage was not deep in my opinion. Plus I did not get the full 50 minutes. I was there on time, but the computers weren't working, so Steve was not notified on his iPod that I was there, so he was late finding me at the front desk. The five stars are for Derek, my deep tissue masseuse today. I asked for a deep massage & he provided! God I hate when I get a Swedish when I ask for a deep. Left me feeling fresh and limber! Did not engage in small talk which is also a huge plus for me. As for the establishment? Nothing out of this world & pushy w the sales pitch. Today was the breaking point. I had scheduled an appointment during my last visit, received a confirmation email, a few nights ago was emailed appointment cancellation email, called back to reschedule, received a confirmation email for new appointment, got no call or voicemail to confirm (per usual), arrived at the Verona location, was told appointment was cancelled. This doesn't work. Not sure if this was a breakdown in training. Dipali Patel, I encourage you to train new hires/transfers in such a way that they understand the commitment/availability customers create in their schedules. This experience was disappointing, especially for my being almost a year long customer of Massage Envy - Verona. For prospective customers looking to join and sign a contract with Massage Envy, I do NOT recommend this location at this time. I am hopeful that the franchisee will rectify this situation in the oncoming months to better serve our hardworking clientele that seek personal care and well-being. I chose this location, my fault. And now I have chosen complete cancellation and no longer to give my business, time, availability, trust, and health to the team at this location. When one fails, all fail. Now - if you don't know - the buzz in the industry is that all the women from Argentina give a good MLD - but that's not what this review is for. I went there today for some nasty trigger points in my back. I was a walk in and was able to have an appointment in 20 mintues. Today I saw Linda *****Still all starry eyed***** She is the master manipulator of knots and points. She was able to figure out that my trigger points are actually starting in my feet and go all up my right side to my shoulder. She was SO GOOD that I extended my 1 hour appointment to get more done. I cannot wait to go back for more. I will update my review when I have my MLD. Oh and the price? Much cheaper if you get the month to month and even less expensive than other places. There are some great professional masseusse that work at this location Dereck is one of the best - ask for him. I have a monthly membership and have had an appointment for the last 4 months. Last Friday I took a guest, after the massage one of the front desk associates was fairly gently trying to sell my guest a monthly membership.  The manager chimed in with a comment that was uncalled for, aggressive; she obviously had very poor marketing skills.  I was disappointed I thought ME had more skillful personal.   My guest would never buy a membership from them after this type of classless behaviour. I went for a prenatal massage and this was my first time at this location. I wouldn't go and here is why. I gave all my info to he front desk woman, she wrote it all down and gave it to the massage therapist. After I entered the massage room the massage therapist did not read anything on the chart and I had to go through everything again including the fact that I was pregnant. This took up extra time which would have been fine but she cut my massage 15 minutes early. There's a clock in the room so it's easy to track. Not 5 but a whole 15 minutes. The made me upset since I do not get to do this often. During the massage she was very racist towards Chinese due to the current pandemic. I have many Chinese friends and did not welcome her hateful words. I won't go into details on what she said since I do not want to spread that ignorance further. At checkout I told the woman to add 20% gratuity she then asked "ok so round the transition up to $100"? I was confused and asked for the difference between my current total and if I rounded it up. She wanted me to leave an additional $18 to the current 20% tip. Why would I round up, like its hard to process odd numbers on a credit card machine? That was shady. read more

Resulted in a damaged rotator cuff 2) received a facial in which the estatition followed none of my requests 3) I scheduled a session same day in AM. After speaking with my doctor I was advised to cancel. I canceled promptly but was charged a cancelation fee 4) While quarantined with severe COVID symptoms for nearly 2 months I received numerous threatening calls and texts (received later during recovery) that I was going to forfeit my 7 sessions already paid for because I did not pay the monthly fee while I was on a respirator. 5) At my last session I called while outside to say I'll be in momentarily (needed a smoke). I got the standard please hold and was shocked to watch the receptionist turn to a colleague to finish her conversation. I did not cancel my membership when COVID began and continued to pay these ungrateful people for 8 months without using their services. I thought I was doing the right thing supporting a local business. Don't bother... they won't support you. If you must use Massage Envy, go to the Short Hills location. The shopping area is located near a supermarket , amazing savings and a gym . This spa has a Pleasant staff , clean entry area and is nice and quiet Felis , is my go to masseuse at this location . Received multiple massages by Derek. Derek really gets at the knots I have in my neck. I've been experiencing pain and he definitely puts a lot of pressure to work out the muscle. The pressure is firm so if your looking for something light see someone else. If your looking for deep tissue I recommend him. Drink lots of water afterwards is key or else you will get a headache. My mother booked a 60 minute facial and I left 15 minutes early and my mother had this huge argument with the women behind the counter. She was the only one working and was fairly young. Apparently when booking a 60 minute time slot it's a 45 minute facial and 15 minute consultation, gathering the materials, going over the products, etc. My mother made the women cry and demanded to talk to the manager so the women called the manager on the phone. Overall, the actual facial was great and the women working with me removed many of my blackheads but the pricing was the only issue. read more

The thing I didn't like was that at check out I was offered a membership and the person who offered it to me flat out lied to me to get to sign in. She said there had a deal for $70 a month which would get you a 60min massage every month. I asked about the length of the agreement and what was the cancellation policy. I explained that I travel for work and I needed to be able to cancel the membership. She said that there wouldn't be an issue and that all I had to do was let them know when I wanted to cancel. I thought that was strange so I asked for the cancellation form. The cancellation form said something different and then she retracted herself. Is annoying to always have to be careful to not get conned. Isn't it enough to sell services people want? I called last minute to schedule an appointment for me and my husband for a 60 minute massage and the woman who answered the phone was super friendly and helpful. We went in later in the day and they helped us as soon as we walked in the door. The waiting area is clean and spacious, and has nice big comfy chairs to sit in as you wait or fill out your forms. My masseuse, Oneika, came out right away and led me to the back. She was soft spoken, but very polite and explained the process. She used the light pressure I requested, and reminded me a few times to let her know if I wanted it harder or softer. After the session was up, she met me outside the room with a small glass of water. My husband had Shannen as his masseuse and he said she did a great job and felt super relaxed at the end. read more

The massage itself was good, basic. It's worth the introductory price but not much more. The Bad: The massage was very basic. Also, the staff (albeit friendly) was very salesy. They pushed the membership that I had no interest in buying. After my massage the sales clerk (?) asked if I was familiar about the membership program. I said yes to avoid her spiel. I took my boyfriend to Massage Envy for a Valentine's Day couples massage thinking it was a good deal for the price. Well now I understand why it was so cheap! First of all, the 50 minute massage was cut short to around 40 minutes because we arrived a few minutes late and our massage therapists told us they would be yelled at if they didn't have us in and out in the same hour. I've been late for spa appointments before and NEVER have they cut the service time short before! Secondly, massages are supposed to be relaxing experiences. My massage therapist talked to me for the entire 40 minutes, not allowing me to take in the massage experience. When I didn't respond for a few minutes to all his chatter he said, "boy, someone is relaxed!" No, I'm NOT relaxed- I'm TRYING to get relaxed if you could keep your trap shut while you rub me down!! All he did was tell me how tense every body part of mine was and how his other clients come in for this or that. On top of all that, he was so pressed for time he kept counting down my minutes to me and saying "I've got to move onto the next body part because we're running out of time." Once the poor excuse for a massage was finally over, I walked out to the lobby where the receptionist- aka salesgirl- tried to sell me a massage membership where I pay $49/month to come in for a "free" one hour massage each month. My poor boyfriend was in more pain later that day than he was before we went in. Now I feel like I owe him another gift to make for this horrible experience! I will never return to a Massage Envy facility again. I would rather pay MORE money to go to a spa where I will leave feeling relaxed rather than more stressed out than when I arrived!!! read more

Customer service seems to be non-existent with Nancy (not sure if that's her name. Sais she's the manager or business manager) at Massage Envy Verona. I had reoccurring issue with my membership (which I started for years Ago). The front desk clerk told me she was putting me on hold to get information but instead transferred me to Nancy who picked up the call with a negative attitude already on full display. She kept talking in circles and essentially told me I was lying when I repeated what I had been told by the front desk clerk when I called about the same issue several months ago. Nancy said "no one would have ever told you that" as if she knows what comes out of every persons' mouth who answers the phone there. Nancy, if you're the person setting the tone for customer service at this location, I can see why the overall rating is 2 stars. I hope the owner of this location is aware of this. Upon arriving to this Massage Envy, I was greeted by a number of wonderful and friendly girls at the desk! I had a facial and massage done that day. First off, my facial was a wonderful experience. Christina was my girl and she was great! She made me feel comfortable and did a really great job with my skin. I loved it! I was a little disappointed when it came to the massage. The quality of the massage was not an issue, rather I had asked for a 60 minute massage and was given a 90 minute massage. I also asked for a foot scrub and never received it. My issue with the 90 minute massage was that the client clearly does not know how long they are being massaged for because of course I do not have my phone to check the time. It was a surprise to me when i went to the desk and was told I had to pay for a 90 minute massage when I had asked for a 60 minute. I am not one to complain or argue so I simply said " I booked a 60 minute not a 90 minute.But that's fine" the girl then said oh well it says 90 minutes here on the reservation....It is not my fault that the employees on the phone made a mistake. Very frustrating!! And again, very disappointed that I did not receive the foot scrub. read more

This was my first experience with massage envy... I've been to other spas and have enjoyed my experience. But this was nothing to write home about. They are welcoming when you enter and of course they ask a number of questions for the paperwork they have you feel out and it is obvious that they want you to become a member. The issue i had was this... With all the massages I have had in the past, the therapist is normally quiet, my therapist spoke most of the time. I am there to relax, not to have a conversation about the weather and what I do for a living etc. You can't really relax if the therapist wants to have conversation with you. I also found it odd that my therapist had long acrylic nails. I felt it a few times. Additionally my massage was less than an hour. For what I paid in the initial price was worth it, but not worth it for their normal price, so I will likely not return. read more

I will never go back to this place or chain. Great franchise idea but unfortunately very poorly executed. First off this is a bad environment and was not relaxing. I have had an incredible experience with Massage Envy Verona. I recently moved to Montclair and was having neck issues one day, so on a whim I booked an appointment here because I wasn't free until 8pm and they were the only place open. I was a little hesitant because it is a chain, and I'm used to massages at higher end salons and spas, but I figured I would give it a try. When I walked in everyone was very friendly. The place is clean, and they offered me water, tea, etc. I then went into another back room with snacks etc. and discussed problem areas etc. Then I was left alone for five minutes (I had arrived early). Available to me was a book on the therapists and their experience. I was able to read about the therapist I would have that day which was Dave. Dave was super cool and friendly. We discussed my neck pains and then he worked on all the areas we discussed. The one thing I really appreciated was that every new area he would ask how the pressure was. I am someone that can handle more pressure in my back, but not my legs. I seriously was so impressed. It was a great massage and the next week I felt WAY better where as usually I'm still in pain and it never heals. He was also super professional and friendly. (Some women don't want a male therapist) I have been places where at a minimum I have paid $150 for a massage and NOT ONCE did they ask "how's the pressure?" After I left, I immediately signed up for a package because the price was unbeatable ($60 a mont, they didn't even have to ask me) and I found a therapist I liked... And he said he already had been there a couple years, so I figured it was worth it. I have been twice since and so far I'm really happy. It's something to me that is worth $60. I can't speak to any other therapist, etc. I would say though that the main thing is just speak up with your therapist and be honest about your experience to the front desk! read more

I'm usually a tangled ball of knots from working on a computer for hours every day, juggling crazy business travel, and chasing after an eight-year-old boy. So I get a massage every month or two, ranging from chair massages at the airport to full body massages at she-she resorts. I've even tried a couple of spas around North Jersey (e.g. Sahana, Woodhouse Day Spa, etc.). For the price, Massage Envy simply cannot be beat. For $49, I got a 50-minute deep tissue massage, which I have easily paid anywhere from $120 - $180 at a spa. Membership is $59 per month, which includes a one hour massage per month. It's $49 for any additional massages each month, and I can roll over my balance from month to month. Granted, I don't get a fluffy robe and slippers. I don't get posh "quiet" rooms with chaise lounges, candles and fresh fruit. And I don't get access steam room or rain showers. But at a 1/3 of the price for the same quality massage, I am willing to forgo the perks and pick up some candles and fresh fruit from the grocery store on my way home. read more

Don't trust anything they say! Scamish sales tactics are often used to lure you to sign up for a year membership. I got a massage for my wife as a part of her birthday gift. She went there and the lady that convinced her to sign up for a year told her that she can cancel at any time and that she will get a free session when signing up. She eventually signed up but when her favorite therapist no longer worked there she asked to cancel. Only then they told us that it cannot be canceled. She has 10 sessions accumulated. I called the company and told them that I never had to deal with a company that insist on charging for product that is not desired anymore! When the year ended, they still charged us after we submitted our cancellation papers! When I called again they said that it needs to be sent 10 days before the charge date and we sent it 5 days before, how does that even matter!!! STOP CHARGING FOR NOTHING. I don't mind paying for a product or a service but this company is so dishonest it's infuriating. Get your therapy elsewhere! read more

I have had a membership with massage envy for about 10 years and this was the worst customer service I ever received. I called a week in advance to book a massage for my girlfriend birthday. i transferred the credit for the massage and the day before the massage I called and found out the reservation was never booked. I spoke to Natalie the manager who started off helpful but informed me there was never a 9am slot available when I tried to book bit proceeded to inform me that my reservation was cancelled because I did not have a credit card on file. We went back and forth on the topic I ask her how can something that was never booked be cancelled and why I did not receive a call or text. I ask Natalie to look into it and get back to me. I called back to book another date and ask for Natalie was told she is busy ask once again have Natalie call me I would like to book Monday at 1pm. I did not receive a call back I called back spoke to Bella she informed me Natalie left for the day. I ask Bella to have Natalie call me was told Natalie will be busy and if she finds time she will call you. Days later still no appointment no call back but they have been sitting on my credit for over a week. the worst customer service I would not recommend this location. read more

As a former member of massage envy of Verona, my review is somewhat late. However, when I was there, Suzy gave me awesome massages. After she got injured however all of that changed and I went to someone else one and someone else another time. I eventually got very tired of that and cancelled my membership. Inconsistency is not an option when it comes to relaxation. Buyer beware - deceptive billing practices! In May 2016 I needed to cancel my monthly membership. I was told that I could not cancel over the phone and that I needed to drive over. So I drove over. When I got there the clerk looked up my account and saw that I had 8 unused sessions so she gave me a form to fill out while she cancelled my membership. The form allowed me to pay $10 a month for the privilege of using my paid for sessions. After 6 months of paying the $10 and using up the sessions they just started right back up charging me the full monthly membership and when called on it they say that I was never cancelled on my visit that day and that the form I signed let's them just start back up charging me. I have been a member of massage envy out in California for many years and have visited several locations without any issues. I recently moved here and tried the location in Verona. I made reservations for my boyfriend and I to both get massages, and when we show up they say there's only a reservation for one. I understand mistakes happen and I normally don't complain, but when I explained that my reservation was for two she just looks at me and says "it only says one". No solution offered, no acknowledgement of their mistake, no apology. Then the girl just gets up and leaves. When I asked the other employee who was behind the desk if I can reschedule my appointment for another day he says yeah and then proceeds with what he was doing before and doesn't even help me. The staff here seem to be incompetent and careless. I'll take my business elsewhere in the future. read more

Really unhappy. I made an appointment for an hour and a half massage for 7 PM. I was told to be there at 6:45 and confirmed my appointment the day before as well as the day of when I called about directions. At 5:10 PM I received a call stating my therapist is "injured" and had to cancel my appointment but can take me the next morning for an hour (not even the original hour and a half I scheduled). I understand life happens but this was clearly an excuse for a call out. What kind of injury would make one unable to work at 7 pm but already know ahead of time you will be totally fine at 9 am the next morning? Not only that but to be notified an hour and a half beforehand right as I am preparing to leave the house is ridiculous. Next time tell your customers the truth rather than insulting their intelligence. Side note- The website pricing for an hour and a half introductory massage (I had the website pulled up during my call) was $74.99 and I was told that the website price is wrong and it is actually $89.99. I've been going to Massage Envy in Verona for about 5 months now.I've tried a few different therapists, found one that really suited me (Kalea) and am very satisfied.The front desk staff is always polite and helpful, the place is clean, and I never wait. If I'm talkative, Kalea and I will converse. If I want to just meditate and relax, that's cool too. I just communicate that to her. I'm not expecting a "spa" experience for the price, just a good, relaxing massage that's going to get my knots and tension out. She always asks if I have something special to work on at that visit.
